Week 3 - Homework and Design Research Homework

For homework, we did board 3, 4 and 5 separately which focuses on what we are doing for our individual project. 

Board 3

1) 

Option 1: A mini interactive publication that features a series of illustrations and copywriting

Option 2: A series of posters or packaging collaterals with a booklet

2) 

Option 1: I might do 10 to 15 pages that will feature more than 5 illustrations

Option 2: 3 to 4 posters or 3 packaging collaterals

 3) For this project, I plan on doing a mini publication with around 10 to 15 pages. It will feature a number of illustrations as well as copywriting. It will be an interactive publication with prompts and I might experiment with AR so that people can scan a specific word or illustration and it will come out in 3D or animated.

Psychological distress, anxiety, family violence, suicidality, and wellbeing in New Zealand during the COVID-19 lockdown: A cross-sectional study

1) The article talks about the mental wellbeing of New Zealanders during the COVID-19 lockdown. The authors did a study, collected data, and talked about mental wellbeing such as anxiety, distress, suicidality, and family violence within New Zealand. From their study, 30% of the participants experienced mild to severe mental distress, 39% experienced a drop in their wellbeing and 16% of them experienced mild to elevated levels of anxiety. They stated that young people had a worse outcome along with people who lost their jobs and those who had past diagnoses of mental illness.

2) This article is worth reading as it relates to our area of investigation which is coronavirus and wellbeing. It has statistics on people’s wellbeing here in New Zealand.

Summary of the project 

Artists and designers have created posters about coronavirus for Dazed Media. Dazed Media have asked artists and designers to create and design posters for the #AloneToghether campaign. These posters are a response to the changes that have happened by COVID-19 and “call for a better future”.

 Details of the design approach and methods

For the first poster, Kris Andrew Small, an illustrator and designer created a poster saying “Get out from the inside” in his own signature design. He used a collage like layout along with colourful backgrounds and colours. He also played around with typography.

For the second poster, Charles Jeffrey, a fashion designer created a poster by using cutting up a photograph to mimic a broken mirror. The poster is a representation of our emotional state due to the pandemic.

For the third poster, Margot Bowman did an illustration which shows four people together but at the same time alone and just looking at their phones. The illustration could represent the feeling of loneliness during lockdown.

How it relates to your design problem and possible individual and/or group outcomes

The campaign #AloneTogether is like the name, all of us are alone but we are alone together. The posters the creators have designed relates to our design problem as it showcases in a way what we’re feeling, our mental wellbeing during COVID-19.

1980's Fashion

The 1980's is often refered to as the years that fashion forgot, however on a personal level i have to disagree, I will admit it was not all great some of the floresent colers were perhaps not the most tastefull;

However I feel that in the 80s they realy understood how to flatter the female body and exentuate her natural curves and create a very femanin shape;

The 80s were a time that people could realy express themself through the clothes that they wore for example this was the time of the punks, vivvien westwood came in to her own with this new  cult that she created with her uneque desighns,Major Icons of the 1980s were pop artists such as madonna , Adam Ant and Princess Diana.
