Writing Patterns

Ooooooh @caitylove tagged me and I'm so excited to do this! I try really hard to vary my chapter/fic starts, so I'm curious to see how well I've done!

Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern!

One Dear Perpetual Place (BSG, E): It was hard enough to keep a class of kindergarteners focused and on task, but it was even harder with the laughter and noise coming from next door.

In Among the Weeds (Star Trek: Voy, M): Kathryn thought she’d never want to see space again.

In the Dark of the Night (BSG, T): The first few nights on New Caprica, nighttime was the liveliest part of the day.

Somewhere in Space (BSG, G): She sat against the far bulkhead, nearly blending in with the darkness of the room, but her silhouette interrupted the starlight from the large window and told him right where she was.

Brave Enough to Fall (BSG, T): Sick Bay was silent, holding its breath even as the rest of the ship, the rest of the Fleet, continued on.

So The Battleship Will Sink (BSG, M): The alert came when the Raptor was closer to Galactica than Colonial One, only confirming what that Raptor’s own sensors did: a baseship had jumped into range with Raiders headed toward the Fleet.

In The Stars (Star Trek: Voy, G): Voyager was different, somehow both quieter and louder than Ocampa. The sounds of the engines had kept her up those first few nights, but now she found comfort in them.

Begging for Salvation (BSG, Final part to the Wild West AU, E): Laura wiped her boots on the stairs as she climbed onto the porch, trying her best to get as much of the mud off as she could.

Easy Touch (BSG, Second part to the WW AU, E): Laura wiped her arm across her forehead, clearing away the sweat that had formed from the summer heat.

Beneath the Desert Stars (BSG, First part to the WW AU, T): The sun was low in the sky, a palette of reds and purples creeping toward the deep indigo of twilight and even darker blue of night.

Relationship Status: technically single but with a whole lot of IT’S COMPLICATED and I’m exhausted lol

Lipstick or Chapstick: atm my favourite lipsticks are (all super affordable drugstore brands) a bright orange one by P2 (this one), Artdeco Art Couture in Crimson Queen (lol) and one of those liquid mattes in a taupe shade. I mean lipstick lasts like 5 minutes after I put it on no matter how much I prep lol but tbh the putting it on part is more fun than wearing it lol

Last Song I Listened to:  my spotify says it’s ‘dissolve me’ by alt-j (I’ll always love this song tbh... lyrics notwithstanding, and not to be cheesy but, this track sounds like what it feels like to fall in love) Although my actual most played tracks atm are History Maker (SAVE ME), the four seasons and jelly by tcts. my playlist is 7 different music tastes wearing a trenchcoat

Last Movie I Watched: Rogue One!! I’m still not over it

Top 3 shows: comfort shows and all time faves? x-files, btvs and 90s star trek (voy/tng/ds9, the holy trinity of comfort trek. my taste is very vintage as I am also .. vintage). more recently - halt and catch fire, dirk gently’s holistic detective agency and over the garden wall. special heartfelt shoutout to YOI!!! for being a bright light in dark places (aka this cruel winter)

Top 3 Characters: IMPOSSIBLE!!! just pick three??? let’s try: Buffy Summers, Fingon, Steve Rogers! No - but have some more: Idril, Natasha Romanova, Kara Thrace (BSG), Sera (DA:I), Lyra Belacqua (HDM)

Top 3 Ships: Again with the miniscule selection size!! Ok well, I try. Maedhros/Fingon, Buffy/Faith, Sera/female Lavellan (also, because I know no shame, my Inquisitor is named Idril :)))) I cried a bit when they got married). also steve/bucky and buckynat. despite marvel doing its best to sour my enthusiasm with everything they have recently done, I must remember that I do love and appreciate these characters deeply, at their core. not to be dramatic, but....!
