I think hvitserk was wrong for raping that girl but in a way I think he was better than ubbe. For example when ubbe left margrethe and hvitserk take care her also if she was mad. He was so kind to her where no one elsa was😭
No, I don't think so. I doubt he would've helped a different woman in Margrethe's place. Anyone else would be dead. She was "lucky" that she let Hvitserk get his dick wet in the past. And also, he was wrong for raping the nun AND the women in Algeciras (and we don't know how many more) Don't forget those just because they weren't Saxon's.
In my humble opinion, many mistake Ubbe's choices for abuse or intentional pain inflicted on others. Meanwhile he is put into those situations by other's.
Ubbe was in a very difficult position with no one on his side after the fiasco in England. As far as he knew, both his brothers wanted him dead. Ivar, who he had basically raised and loved like his own son and Hvitserk who he loved more than anyone else, so much he shared his wife willingly with him. Ubbe was betrayed and his trust broken. He went with Lagertha and what she told him, because frankly, he didn't have many options in this situation. All the shit that happened made him numb and cold towards other's.
Torvi basically groomed him into a relationship with her (she used to be his babysitter for crying out loud!! And she still had this air of superiority towards him); he was more a father to Bjorn's children than Bjorn ever was. The reason he didn't kill Lagertha was that he didn't want to lose another brother (Bjorn). He didn't want to be alone. So he grasped for what was there. I don't think he liked betraying his mother, but she was dead and he was alive and needed to find a way to stay alive.
Margrethe had been a slave for a long time, possibly her whole life, the child of a slave perhaps. I cannot imagine the abuse and trauma she must've gone through. It messes with your mind and there are no modern doctors or therapists around, their society is NOT the same as the modern society. While they share some aspects, it is still different, obviously. There is no one who understands that those aren't demons who possess her and make her "crazy". She had horrible visions of death and was left alone with the children of the woman who- in her eyes- stole her husband. Sadly, she appeared to be a danger to Asa and Hali. Not so much to the others since she had zero fighting skills, but they couldn't leave her in Kattegat because they assumed she might've heard of their hiding place. She couldn't be roaming their hiding spot alone/unsupervised, because she could get it in her mind to walk back to Kattegat and maybe unintentionally give them away. They couldn't take her with them to England, because she could turn against them on the boat. You don't want to be in an enclosed space with a person who got massive PTSD and thinks of you as the enemy, trust me.
As horrible as it was to leave her there, they also knew Ivar was hot on their heels and she wouldn't be there on her own for long. Does that make it okay for them to put her in the pig pen? No, absolutely not. She could've been in the "house" with them, sheltered and warm. They even could've set her free before leaving, if they did it right before they got on the boat.
Yet we gotta keep in mind, none of those people knew what was going on with Margrethe and she acted strangely in their eyes. They had only Torvi's word that Margrethe tried to kill her kids and didn't think any further since children's lives are valued a lot. So they left her in chains.
Also, I think it wasn't even Ubbe's idea to put her away. I'm convinced it was Torvi's and Lagertha's idea. To humiliate her for trying to hurt Asa and Hali. I don't think Ubbe had much say in the matter and seriously, was he supposed to go against anything they decide? He had Bjorn, Lagertha, Torvi and Heahmund against him in that case- three of those extremely skilled fighters.
You don't think Lagertha would be this cruel to a fellow woman? Make no mistakes, if she wants something she sacrifices anything and everyone. She raped Harald Finehair and she killed Aslaug for no reason at all other than power play. I believe this kind of person is capable to put another woman in a burlap dress and chain her in a pig pen.
I love Hvitserk, but let's not twist the facts that he can be a cruel and non-caring bastard as well when he wants to be. And just because he is my fav, doesn't mean I let it slide to pin everything on Ubbe when he simply isn't the one at fault. He shouldn't have cheated and that one time he got aggressive towards Margrethe because of Lagertha's schemeing, was also wrong.

Hello. I just read the post about a anon that has been rude to you (must admit I have silently been following the conversation) 🫣Just thought I’d drop a message and say a huge thanks for the effort you put in (I know you run a couple of pages that are constantly putting new things about Vikings) Personally I live for these updates day to day 🤭 I am fairly new to tumblr and I am slowly trying to get over my shyness so I can comment more and interact with people ( until couple of months I didn’t even know how to request and I learned about the meaning of re blogging couple of weeks ago 😅😅😅) But I just wanted to say thanks 🙏
Hey, love! 😊
Haha, I noticed! (The being active part, I'm not some weirdo who knows you're watching 🤣) It's nice to see new people interacting and I love that you're actively overcoming your shyness, that's not easy after all. From what you're telling me, you've made some major steps already! You can be really proud of yourself 🤗
We all started somewhere on tumblr xD and what a lovely addition to fandom you are 😊
Thank you! Seriously, from the bottom of my heart thank you! Your message has made me smile and put me in a way better mood 💕It makes me happy to know that those posts and reblogs are cherished and I'm sure my partner-in-fandom tlkvikings thinks so too.
I hope you have a wonderful day/evening wherever you are 🤗

Do you think hvitserk loves his parents?
Hello anon!
That's a complicated question to answer. I'm sure Hvitserk loved his mother, and probably Ragnar at some point when he was little.
But then Ragnar left and Hvitserk grew indifferent to him. There were those sagas told about how great Ragnar was and he clearly benefitted from that, but he probably did not really have a concept of what a father is ever since Ragnar left.
Aslaug was ever present, she loved her sons and even though she favored Ivar, I'm sure she expressed her love to her other boys too. Just not as obvious.
Hvitserk looks and acts like he doesn't really care about Aslaug, but I think he was mad at her for dying, because it meant she left them behind just like Ragnar had when they were kids. I mean....he was 19 when she died. What 19yo copes well with the death of a parent? And I could see him not wanting it to affect him as much as it probably did. So he pushed the hurt at the loss of his mother away and channeled it to anger that he then used for their joined revenge at Ælle.
Also, for all his talk of "she didn't love us bla bla bla," he's the only one who avenged Aslaug's death by killing Lagertha.
Anyways, yes, I think he loved his mother and he loved Ragnar until the guy left them behind.
Sorry for the ramble.

I really like vikings, but it makes me sad to see all this man abusing women. Of course it was surely normal, but it make me feel strange to see it. Bjorn surely rape some woman but it wasn't in the show as an explicit scene. And I think also ubbe is guilty of rape, because at the beginning margrethe was a slay so she couldn't say no. Siggurd himself say 'she belong to us' imply that there was no necessary of ask her if she want to fuck ivar
Well, men still abuse women to this day. And some women abuse men. It is what it is. Ignoring that it happens won't make it go away. Showing a sanitized version of a story would make a quite boring and unrealistic show. The Vikings era was a dangerous time for everyone. Women, men, children, elders - doesn't matter, they were all at risk.
The root problem is Hirst's misogynistic self who honestly believes he wrote a feminist show 🤣 that is just hilarious. He thinks because he let some of the female characters play with the weapons and said they were badass fighters, he is suddenly a feminist for it 😂 please, I'm in stitches just thinking about it. He really thought putting women in the (in his eyes) "male" role was feminist, while not changing anything else. He didn't make them equal, that's the problem. Feminism means equality for all genders. That wasn't the case in the show though.
Just because it wasn't an explicit scene, it makes it okay? In the end credits of that episode with the Algeciras raid the crying woman at the end is listed as "Bjorn's victim" so, tell me, is it less explicit to see her crying and broken as she's put in line in chains to become a slave who'll be abused until she dies? It's enough for me to put two and two together. He also went on far more raids than the boys did, which means more potential victims.
No. Ubbe didn't rape anyone. Did you forget that he insisted that Margrethe was a human being that needs to be asked if she wants to have sex? I doubt that mindset went away. He didn't see her as a slave, but a person. Does that make her a free woman? No. But she had the option to say no, even though she probably was too afraid to speak her mind. Sigurd's opinion on that doesn't matter to me, tbh. He was basically a 16yo teenager. They usually don't have smart ideas and talk shit all the time.
Those boys were raised to believe they were better than others just because they were the son's of Ragnar Lothbrok and their mother the Queen of Kattegat, Aslaug (whose parents were also well known). They were raised as royals who stood above commoners and surely above slaves. They were entitled little shits, let's be real. To them it was normal to use a person if that person was a slave. Modern society recognizes that slavery is wrong and that you can't own a human being. Those weren't modern times though. They had entirely different values. Heck, their biggest goal was to die young in battle to get to Valhalla. I think it's safe to say their ideas of a good life and what's right and wrong differ a lot to what our society thinks today. It's okay to hate those parts (slavery) in the show, it would be weird to agree with and tolerize it. You can both understand why and that it happened and still hate it.

⋆ ˚。 ⋆🕸️🕷️🎃 trick-or-treat 🎃🕷️🕸️⋆ ˚。 ⋆
Hellooo anon 😊
Have 333 words worth of a sneak-peek for one of my (many, many 😭) WIPs, it's even a bit spooky for the occasion:
"You're not Ubbe," Ivar said, a scowl on his face as his older brother reentered the room. They'd planned a family dinner sans parents and Ubbe was not acting like himself.
Hvitserk looked from one to the other, before sharing a puzzled look with Sigurd. His younger brother shrugged, just as unsure about what Ivar meant. Ubbe chuckled, which caused Hvitserk to focus on him again. "What, you think I'm a pod person?" Their eldest asked, before sitting down in his seat again. "You're mental, Ivar."
"No, he's right," Hvitserk countered, squinting at Ubbe like he'd never seen him before. "Something's off," he said, inclining his head as he recalled everything that had happened this evening up until now. "Did you hit your head?"
With an exaggerated exhale, Sigurd laid his cutlery down. "You both sound crazy." He told them. "Are you on an acid trip?" The again was silent at the end of his question and more directed at Hvitserk.
"When did I ever take drugs?" Ivar scoffed, sending Sigurd an angry glance before he looked back at their older brother, who seemed to be fascinated by their exchange. "Who are you?" Their youngest asked, gripping his knife.
Ubbe smiled at him, "I'm your brother." He said calmly, but Ivar's suspicion rose.
"Bullshit." He replied, holding his knife like he was ready to stab someone, preferably Ubbe as it seemed.
"Ivar, put the knife down!" Hvitserk intervened, since Ubbe didn't tell him. He always told Ivar to calm down when he reached this point in his anger. But this time their eldest brother appeared to lean back and watch.
"What," Ubbe said then, picking his cutlery back up to continue eating. "Not who." He specified, and for a moment he pointed at Ivar with the fork he was holding. "That's not going to do anything, just so you know." Ubbe finished his meal and then carefully wiped the corners or his mouth with the napkin. "I'm surprised Hvitserk didn't notice it sooner."

why you not writing reader insert? you would get more notes
Anon, I am baffled why you would even ask me this question 😅😂 I've written some of those and after that short stint came to the conclusion that reader-inserts are simply not for me. Neither reading nor writing. As I have stated many times. It brings me no joy and the ridiculous (Y/N) stuff makes my brain bluescreen.
And honestly, if your only goal is generating as many notes as possible and being popular, that's the entirely wrong reason to write and certainly not why I write fic. My fics might not be as liked/loved and recommended/reblogged as those of other people who do write reader-inserts, but I don't care. You either like my stuff or you don't and if you don't then that's fine by me 🤷🏼♀️

7 & 17? I'm eating popcorn and choosing violence tonight!
You just wanna watch the world burn, love 😂😂
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?
Ivar. Istg, I liked him well enough, he was interesting as a character to write, but the way some people (not namimg names) acted about him had me recoild SO HARD. I can't even look at the actors face without grimacing to this day. So, uh, thanks for that Ig.
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
Platonic, story driven character study type fics. Fics without "reader". Romantic canon character/canon character type fics (I mean, we have a fuckton of characters to choose from in Vikings and lucked out big time when it comes to that, mix and match baby). More WLW fics. More art of our female characters in general.

I have one more prompt for your follower celebration, if you don't mind receiving another! From the smutty prompt list, "touch me and you lose"... with Ubbe, of course. 😏
Haha, I don't mind at all! 😂 it's not like a lot of people are sending in requests besides the usual suspects 😆😘
Why am I not surprised it's Ubbe 🤔😂 let's see what I can come up with 😏

Don't you write fanfics anymore here?
Anon, I'm pretty sure the other two asks are also yours and I kinda don't wanna answer them right now (one tells me you didn't even look at anything I ever posted, like, even my fucking About Me, the other is a request I'm pretty sure someone else filled already), but you will get an answer to this question. Sort of.
I hope Hvitserk is a good substitute to convey my feelings on this absolute audacity of a question.
Let me ask you some questions that I'm dying to hear the answer to before though:
Did you ever read my previous fics?
If so, did you engage with them? i.e. like, reblog, comment/tag comment on tumblr.
Did you engage with them on AO3? i.e. kudos, comment.
Did you ever make a rec list where any of my fics popped up?
Did you ever sent me a prompt when I reblogged ask games or even for my still ongoing follower celebration?
Do you ever engage with other authors works?
Don't you think that running a possible event for fandom might be taking up time?
Do you think I might be discouraged due to the absolute LACK of interaction with my already posted works in any way, shape or form?
Wouldn't you agree that instead of asking this absolute bonkers question, you could've easily done ANYTHING else that would make me want to create more/post?
Do you think being a lurker is something fandom as a whole can still affort? (I answer this one for you: no, it can't)
To answer your question: Not at the moment, but that doesn't mean I won't in the future. Currently my creativity has a different calling in another fandom and I stopped feeling bad about that. I'm not an influencer and I don't make content.
I'm a creator and creativity is like a river. Sometimes it's a steady stream, other times it's dried up, it might even find a new way due to overflowing, but the river is never gone entirely.

🦇trick or treat🎃
Hey anon! 🤗
You will get an idea for a sequel I have for Kings of Kattegat:
I intended to follow Ivar's journey to find Floki, because I think he should've had the meeting that Ubbe got in the show. Both Ivar and Floki had a strong bond and it would've made me happy to see them reunite.
So, that's the sequel I want to write some day in the future. Just Ivar and that very loyal-to-Ubbe dude called Henrick (my OMC) and a few other men and shieldmaiden on a little adventure, possibly killing Kjetill because I love killing that crazy mf. And who could do it better than Ivar? Come on xD
Hope you liked this short insight and if anyone else wants to send me a "trick or treat" go ahead 🤗💕

Between bjorn hvitserk ubbe and ivar who you think was the most fit to rule?
Ubbe actually. He was a born leader and wherever he went people turned towards him for what to do. You can see that throughout the whole show. Sure, he wasn't secure in his decisions after that break up with Hvitserk and Ivar stabbing him in the back. He didn't want to do the wrong thing again. But is that so bad? It shows that he thought about his actions and his mistakes. He acknowledges them. Plus, he was most likely trained to be king one day by Aslaug.
Bjorn was a horrible king, his own arrogance and self-absorbedness kicking him in the ass all the time. He wanted to be the opposite of Ragnar so bad he ended up the weakest of them all.
Ivar was never a king, only a tyrant. So he's a hard no for that role. He was great for war though, could be a good advisor for that.
Hvitserk didn't want to be king, not ever, so it's kind of pointless to think about it. But I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be doing a decent job, if he were to take the throne. He had good ideas for others on the throne and is the type of person who's well liked.

Hello! If it is not weird I just wanted to know what do you think about Ivar ?
Hellooo 😊
Well, personally I don't get the hype around his character, but people can and will like what they want, I'm not gonna tell them not to 😂 and it's not like I could.
I did write him from time to time or he's somewhere in some stories, but less and less nowadays. I can appreciate the fodder he gives us to explore his character though, that can be fun.
So, I'm neither a fan, nor do I hate him. He's part of the show.

Don't you think that the love between hvitserk and ubbe is just brotherhood? And do you prefer see on the screen hvitserk with margrethe or thora?
No, I don't think so. Once you view their relationship as a romantic one and the way they parted as a break up, the story between them makes more sense.
Thora, because she was a free woman and could actually choose to be with him. I like Margrethe, but she didn't really have the option to say no at any point to any of them.

What is your favorite hvitserk's love relationship?
Hey there 😊
Well, that would be Hvitserk and Ubbe. I could go into great detail why, but it just is 😅 I don't believe they loved any of the women they were with as much as they loved each other.

May I ask who is your favorite ragnarsson?
You may ask anything, nonnie! 😊
Well, I kinda sorta answered that one with my entry for the Autumnal Equinox of vikingsevents 😂
Anyways, it used to be a tie between Ubbe and Hvitserk, but over time I kind of started to lean more towards the unhinged bloodthirsty precious bean Hvitserk.
Thank you for asking! 💕
