"The Prairie Line Trail is a mile-long park filled with art and history. The Prairie Line Trail was created by the city of Tacoma along the tracks of the retired Prairie line. It links our waterfront downtown, University and Brewery Districtd. In short its Tacoma's story and 5,280 ft. Signed into being by Abraham Lincoln, built with the toll of immigrants, on land stolen from the S'puyalepabs (Puyallup Tribe) the Prairie line has stories to tell. The stretch of track is the Western end of the Northern Pacific Railroad. It's also where ideas, cultures, people and technologies collide to make the Tacoma of today." *************** Go on to www.pairielinetrail.org for an interactive walking tour that you can access on your phone or computer. "The Prairie Line Trail project converts 1 mile of the Historic Prairie line railroad, corridor through downtown Tacoma, into a signature public space integrating a multi-use trail, historic/cultural interpretation, public art, multimedia, and green features." One end of the trail is on 25th and Hood street, you'll start by seeing the giant mural on the back of Seven Seas Brewery which is not part of it, but is impressive all the same. It goes through the U of W campus and ends on Dock Street along the Thea Foss Waterway. ********************************** #PrairieLineTrail #TacomaTrails #walk253 #Tacoma #GritCity #CityOfDestiny #TacomaWashigton #tacomawa #VisitTacoma #ExploreTacoma #movetotacoma #GetOutAndEnjoyTacoma #GetToKnowTacoma #StayStellarTacoma #StayStellar #LeeHeath #uofw #history #TacomaHistory #historicalwalk #railroad #TacomaArt #WhatDidYouSeeWhileWalkingTacoma (at Prairie Line Trail - UWT Station)

I love this park. Nice wide, cement. trail around the lake that's .9 of a mile. There are pleanty of benches along the path. Lake is within view all along the walk. An outer loop. extends the path through the forest and over a long foot bridge. Two huge enclosed off-leash dog parks, playground, year round restrooms on the 72nd street entrance and by the dog park, picnic shelters, historic pergola, and flower ladened pillers in the Spring/Summer. There is a fishing dock, but only youth can fish in the lake. Free parking~ Open sunrise to sunset. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> #YourTacomaGuide #LeeHeath #GetOutside #TacomaParks #ParksInTacoma #WapatoPark #Walk253 #WalkTacoma #Tacoma #253 #GritCity #CityOfDestiny #TacomaWashington #tacoma_wa #MoveToTacoma #VisitTacoma #ExploreTacoma #GetOutAndEnjoyTacoma #GetToKnowTacoma #TacomaTalks #SeattlesBackYard (at Wapato Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsRY_3Sg6XG/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8eezdu9e2tvn
