When I woke up, I was still in the chair, but this time nobody was in the room. I sat up and looked around, everything was the same as it was before I passed out. The door opened abruptly, and Dr Park came in. I looked at him with shock written all over my face. How did he know I was here?
“Taehyung told me you were here. Don’t worry. I just brought you some liquids to help your body get some energy back. Here take this.” He said holding out a bottle of Sprite. I nodded before taking the bottle from him. He sat down on the stool next to me.
“So, Taehyung told me that you had quite a bad panic attack. Why didn’t you tell me that you had such a fear? I could’ve told him in advance.” He said. I looked at him with curious eyes before saying, “How did you know that he was going to be the dentist the I would see Dr Kim?”
He just smiled before saying, “He recognised you from the café. We always go there; he was the one that told us about your hand and paid for the treatment.”
I looked at him, shock now written all over my face. I felt so bad, he paid for the treatment of my hand and all I did in return was be a difficult patient. Dr Park patted my leg. “Oh, and by the way, call me Jimin. I’m sure once this has passed, we will be great friends.”
I smiled, there was something about him. He just knew what to say to ease any tension one has. A knock on the door brought me back to my senses. Both Jimin and I looked up to find Taehyung standing at the door. He was still wearing his black dress pants and white shirt, but he had his brown cardigan over it. This told me that everyone had probably left, and it was just us in the clinic now.
I slowly removed the blanket and stood up. Both men watched me closely as I moved over to grab my phone. When I unlocked it, I saw that there was a shit load of messages. Some from Isabelle, some from Sam, some from the group of the new dance, some from Eva and one from Hoseok. I looked at the time. It read, 17:30pm.
“Shit! I must get to rehearsals. Eva is going to kill me.” I said to myself. I found myself opening the messages from Isabelle,
Y/N! why haven’t you phoned me yet? It’s been nearly 3 hours. Where are you?
Y/N!!! come on you are scaring me. Why aren’t you answering?
Okay! Y/N, Eva has called for a rehearsal of the new routine for the mangers and she wants you there too.
Y/N, rehearsals start in half an hour. Where are you?!
“Shit! Shit! Eva is really going to kill me.” I looked up to see that Jimin had moved to stand next to Taehyung, they had moved away from the door.
“I’m really sorry but I have to go. Like really go. I’m so late that I could possibly be cut from the show. How far away is the Main Hall from here?”
Jimin nudged Taehyung in his side a few times until he looked at him. He sent him a look. I looked at them, before quickly grabbing my stuff and walking out the door. If they are too busy poking each other I will find my own way, there.
I walked down the passage quickly typing to Isabelle, that I will be there in about 10 minutes. If I must run, I will. “Wait!” a voice called from behind me. I turned to see Taehyung running down the passage towards me. Jimin was behind him. I stopped and looked at him. Waiting for him to say what he wanted to say.
“I can drive you if you want.” He said when he caught up with me. “Really? You would do that? Are you sure?”
“Will you stop asking questions, let’s just go.” He said grabbing my arm and pulling me down the passage and down the stairs and out the door. He walked a little down the street until we stopped at a grey Mercedes Benz GLA. I looked at him as he unlocked the door and opened it motioning for me to get in.
I looked back at Jimin who nodded before giving me a thumbs up. I turned back to Taehyung and smiled before climbing in the car. He closed the door behind me and rushed to the other side. Once he was in, he started the car and waved goodbye to Jimin. He then drove down the road and towards the main street.
“Thank you, Dr Kim. You didn’t have to do this.” I said softly. He smiled at me before saying, “Call me Taehyung, or Tae. I don’t mind at all. We were finished for the day anyway.”
I nodded before looking down at my hands. The car smelled like him, a mix of fresh pine and the ocean. Two of my favourite scents. I sighed softly, working on my courage before saying, “Listen, I’m really sorry about today. I didn’t mean to make your day more stressful. I probably overreacted and I’m sorry for that.”
He looked away from the road, to look at me. He was silent, it was like he was studying me. His eyes were focused on mine before tearing them away to focus on the road again. “You don’t have to apologise. You are not anywhere near the worst patient I’ve had to deal with. If you had told me before that you suffered with panic attacks, I could’ve done the procedure under general anaesthesia from the beginning and then you wouldn’t have had to have gone through that. I’m sure your body is exhausted now. Are you sure that you have to go to the rehearsal?”
“The thing is, this is the first time I’ve ever had such a reaction. To be honest I do avoid going to the dentist, but I’ve always tried to put on a brave face and do it, but something just broke in me today. I don’t know what caused it but I’m really sorry that it happened in your office.”
He shook his head saying, “Like I said before Y/N you don’t have to apologise. I understand. It’s part of my job. I know that some people fear me.”
When he said that, I felt my heart break a little bit. I felt so bad, all he has done is be kind to me, sure he did come across as cold before, but it seems like he’s becoming a little more open around me.
I didn’t know what to say to him, so I just turned to look out the window. After a couple more minutes he pulled up to the hall. Just as I was about to open the door he said, “Are you sure that you want to do this rehearsal? Your body has been through quite a bit of stress today and if the show is tomorrow, don’t you want to rest rather than overwork?”
“I have to. I don’t really have a choice.” I said.
“I could put in a word with your manager. I am technically a doctor.” He said. I smiled at him before saying, “Sure, you can try but I don’t think she will listen. She’s kind of hard-headed, doesn’t really listen to outside people.”
He nodded but climbed out of the car as well. I walked to the back entrance and showed my ID to the guard. “He’s with me.” I said and we both walked in.
“Y/N!” Isabelle called from across the room. She jumped up from next to Sam and rushed over to me. She crashed into me, immediately wrapping her arms around me. Sam followed behind her. Once she let go, he immediately embraced me as well.
I could feel Taehyung staring at me. So, I pulled away and walked to him and pointed out Eva. He nodded and walked over to her. I watched him as he walked. He had his hands in his pockets and his head held high. He had such an aura of power and confidence that it’s kind of scared me.
He spoke to Eva for a while, and she occasionally looked over to me. Isabelle giggled beside me saying, “So, how come you came with Mr Hottie from the coffee shop?” I looked back at her as Sam asked, “Is he the guy you guys were talking about. The one dear Y/N spilled coffee all over.”
“Hey! We bumped into each other. These things do happen.” I said. He smirked at me before coming over and ruffling my hair. I pouted slightly and pushed his hand away. He laughed and pulled me for a hug.
I pulled away when Eva clapped her hands to gain everyone’s attention. Taehyung stayed in the far corner watching the three of us. Eva called all everyone to the centre of the room. “Right, everyone tonight’s rehearsals aren’t going to be long. We are just going to run through the dance twice and perform it once for management.”
I took off my jacket and put it down next to my bag and went into the middle of the room, to my position. We were dancing to I’m Into You by Jennifer Lopez. It was a fun dance and because we were a small group it was easy to pick up easily. Sam played the main male character and I played the main female character. The type of story that is that cliché love story.
I could feel his eyes trained on me during the performance. I couldn’t understand why he was still in there. I finally let all my worries go and channelled it into the dance. Once the music finished, I went to grab some water.
It felt like I was high on adrenaline, but I could still feel the tiredness seeping deeper and deeper into my body.  I closed my eyes, taking breaths to calm my breathing. I sat down on the chair. I got up and walked back into position.
“The management team is here, and for the sake of everyone we are just going to it once more and then you can all leave, go back to the hotel or go out. Just remember that tomorrow we all meet here at about 12:30pm to get ready for the show. The show starts at 2:00pm.” Eva said, as the management team sat down on the prepared seats.
The music started and everyone did the dance. The movements flowing delicately from each member to the other. It was such a nice dance, difficult but had that element that made it worth putting the hard work in.
Once the song finished and everyone finished their movements it was silent before the management team applauded and looked quite happy with what they had set out to do. Everyone said goodbye to everyone, and all left to go out and party before the show. I decided that my body was calling for bed so rather I would go back to the hotel.
“Y/N, we are going to the club with the rest, do you want to come?” Isabelle asked me. I shook my head saying, “Nah, I’m going to head back to the hotel and get some sleep. It’s been a long day.”
She nodded and hugged me, and I hugged Sam as well. And waved at them as they left the hall. I grabbed my jacket and my bag, making sure that I had phone and my ID before looking back and walking out of the hall.
I waved goodbye to everyone as I turned down the road towards the hotel. “You know it’s not safe for a girl to walk home alone at this time.” A voice called from behind me. I jumped slightly before turning around to see Taehyung, with his hands in his pockets walking closer to me.
“I totally forgot you were still here. Why didn’t you leave?” I asked as he came to a stop in front of me. “I didn’t want to.” He said. The answer didn’t really give much of an explanation, but I wasn’t in the mood to dig deeper. I nodded before turning back to carry on walking down the street to the hotel.
He continued to walk with me, well behind me. “You know, if you are going to follow me you can walk next to me.” He laughed before moving to walk next to me.
We walked in silence for a while before he said, “Do you want to stop and get something to eat? You haven’t eaten at all since the appointment.” I looked up at him, before looking around noticing that we were in a street full of small restaurants.
“Sure.” I said as he nodded and led the way. We walked past a few before stopping at a small family owned restaurant. He held the door open for me as I walked in and I thanked him. We walked to a table and sat down.
“So, why the sudden need for food?” I asked. He looked up from the menu. “Just like you all I have really had today was the coffee I got this morning. I thought since you had that small rehearsal and you had quite a stressful day that it would be nice to have something to eat.” He stated.
“But doesn’t this cross the line between doctor and patient? I mean it’s like we are on a date.” I said. “You are also practically famous in your field and seem to have girls falling at their feet in your presence. So why me?”
“I don’t know. You just seem different. Plus, if this was a date. I would’ve asked differently not on a day where you were so scared of me that you had a panic attack and passed out.” He said.
“I. I. I. I told you that it’s not necessarily you that scared me.” I paused before continuing, “You know I never got the chance to thank you for paying for my burn treatment.”

Kim Seokjin: Psycho
Through the one way glass, you could see the man who had killed your parents, but it was just marked as an overdose. You knew however they didn’t take drugs or any medication. The man fell asleep, and you slammed your hand on a button ‘cotton eyed joe’ began playing loudly. The man looked broken, and he sobbed as you unleashed a box of mosquitos in the room.
“Okay, I admit it,” the man screamed, you paused the music. You are a master at interrogation and your skills had put many people in the hospital, you never laid a finger on them, but you could get the truth from anyone. “I did it, I poisoned them okay, please let me go I can’t take this. He took my job and then no one would hire me so my wife left me, They deserved it”
“How long has he been in there?” Seokjin asked.
“Six days,” You sighed he looked at you horrified “Don’t worry you can stay awake for eleven days and we fed him too before you ask three meals a day of this”
“What am I looking at?” He asked peering into a container of something he couldn’t identify but could be described as banana spaghetti.
“You know the strings on a banana, yeah…. That’s them”
“Your psychotic”
Min Yoongi: Pie
“He is a genius, doesn’t really socialise with others, but you will share the same office, try not to get in his way he doesn’t like anyone who touches his things”
“Understood,” you said gazing at his side of the office specifically the whiteboard you were reading the equation and sitting there thoughtfully. Something wasn’t right but you couldn’t figure out what.
You sat at your desk working and staring at it, days past and you couldn’t take it anymore. Clearing your whiteboard you took his beginning equation and expanded it the same way furiously filling it out. The door swung open.
“Who are you and why are you writing out my equation?” He said crossing his arms standing to the side watching you this cute spectacled woman biting her lip in concentration as she wrote.
“I’m pie and because it’s wrong, and I am trying to fix it,” she said, her voice was sweet and yet the delivery was bitter. Like the equation had wronged her. “I have been staring at it for three days now… AHA! That’s it.”
“Holy hell you did it, you think you're pissed from three days, I have been staring at it for seven weeks now”
Jung Hoseok: Jewel
“Sir you have a visitor” Hoseok nodded at the man and he gestured someone inside. They had soft hair sparkling eyes, lips pressed together in a thin line of worry and hands shaking. Sitting up straighter he fixed his tie and swallowed down his whiskey.
“Good evening, what is someone like yourself doing seeking such shady company,” he raised an eyebrow.
“I well, it’s my father he is one of your men he is sick and in need of surgery,” few tears escaped and their tiny hands covered their face wiping them away. “I’m sorry I am so nervous, I have never asked anything like this before”
He took her hand in his and sat them on the couch beside him, “How can I help?”
“I can pay it back, I swear I will do anything, I can even work for you just he needs this surgery”
“I will have Taeil find the best surgeon and I will pay for it, but it comes at a price my jewel”
“Anything?”
“Marry me”
Kim Namjoon: Wrong
Namjoon was late and was needed on set in five minutes he had to get changed wishing he hadn’t drunk so many bottles of water during hair and makeup. He didn’t expect the closest working bathroom to be so far away. He saw his outfit in its plastic slip out the front of the boys dressing room he grabbed it and went inside freezing when he saw a sleeping young man on the couch.
He was in the wrong room but he had no time getting changed as quickly as he could. His eyes locked on the figure hoping they wouldn’t wake. He was a sweet-looking young man he had beautiful individual features peach full lips a soft nose cat-like eyes that turned up at the ends with a hint of mischief, thick dark lashes. However together his face looked a little odd and endearing. He ran to set making it just in time for their appearance on the show a chair beside him empty. A figure staggered in and yawn.
“I am so sorry, I had a wardrobe malfunction” the young man sat down and the hosts called him out for sleeping and he blushed.
Park Jimin: Right
Jimin sat up from his pod, it was another day. He dressed in a grey jumpsuit that everyone wore. Walking through the corridor he sat in the mess hall and ate wholemeal paste. No one spoke unless it was about work or errands.
“Jimin could you take these units to doctor y/n they are expecting the delivery before this evening”
Jimin nodded picking up the box of vials, the medicine which stunted their emotions. He didn’t understand, but he was feeling things more these days and was scared for a higher dose. Stepping into the room he saw you dancing to some music swaying as you worked and smiling the look was strange to Jimin he had never seen a smile not like that at least and not outside of books.
“Hey your Jimin right, let me help you with those” hands brushed his, and he felt his heart thump hard in his chest it shook him. His breathing sped up and his pupils dilated. He was feeling things, it’s okay everyone was getting shots tonight before dinner.
He watched as you loaded a vial into a syringe and shoot it down the sink and repeated it a second time, before signing the paper and turning to him. “Sign here to bear witness to my injection and here to agree you recurved yours” he looked horrified. “You will find it is better to feel things Jimin”
His name sounded so beautiful, so right, and he signed it.
Kim Taehyung: Nude @wanderlustandlavenderwaves
“Welcome back today we have a special guest that I want you to draw, as you know we have been focusing on weight distribution, body lines and all things to do with movement today we have a model please be respectful,” the teacher said and out came a tall and downright gorgeous model. Taehyung smiled watching them move elegantly across the room to stand in the middle wearing a fluffy robe.
You introduced yourself, your name different from what he was used to. His mouth went dry. Your robe was slipped off your shoulders and taken away by the teacher. You were naked in all your glory, the lines of your body so smooth. The curve of your back and the slenderness of your neck was pretty in Taehyung's opinion.
He began drawing tracing each piece and his brow and palms began to sweat when he drew more intimate areas of your body. He was a mess.
Jeon Jungkook: Awkward
Jungkook was so awkward with others he didn’t know what to say and when he saw someone he liked he passed them by and avoid all eye contact. He was on a game show and he was with a few idols. And that’s where he met you, you looked so cool. With a beautiful androgynous image, you took his breath away; you had short hair and a suit that made you look charming.
You were referred to by they/them and no one in the world knew your real gender and you liked to keep it that way. It wasn’t their business whether you are female or male. You spoke so passionately about music and dance and fans; he was lost in your presence. “Is there anyone here you would marry in the future?” The host asked.
“Every one of you would make good wives and husbands, if I were to pick based on their music alone a wife, perhaps Yuta from NCT or maybe even SNSD’s Sunny both very cute and feisty. If I was to choose a husband mm… Hyuna or T.O.P but if we are going from personalities in real life my wife/husband would definitely be Jungkook, he is shy and cute but also very handsome and traditional. Jungkook-ah let's get married?”
Everyone laughed in the studio and he was blushing, but in a stroke of confidence he teased back “okay when?”

The next morning, I woke up at about 7am. Looking around the room I saw Isabelle was spread across her bed, her party clothes still on. I giggled before pushing the duvet off my body, throwing my legs over the side of the bed and climbing out of the bed.
I walked over to Isabelle and covered her with the duvet before walking into the bathroom. When I came out, I took my phone off the nightstand and looked over social media and messages. I then put down my phone and just sat down on my bed. I was tired but couldn’t fall back asleep, but I didn’t want to do anything else.
I decided the best thing to do was to walk down to the café again. Again. I couldn’t understand why I was so drawn to the café. The little old lady was the sweetest person I had ever met but she wasn’t the main reason I wanted to go. I found myself always wanting to go there and secretly wanting to run into Taehyung.
I walked into the bathroom, showered and changed into a shirt and jeans with a fluffy jacket and some gloves. I walked out the door and headed down to the reception and then out the front door and turning down the street and walking towards the small café.
I was telling myself, that the best thing to do was to expect him to not be there. Because if he is not there and you expect him to be there you will only face disappointment and sadness. Even though his constant changing persona, his cold, intense and intimidating persona and his warm, kind and almost loving persona, I still find myself intrigued and wondering. Wanting to know more about him. If he would let me. But his constant changes do somewhat scare me.
The walk to the café was short and sweet and I soon found myself standing in front of the door. Pushing it open I stepped into the warm café. it was quite quiet and not really that many people were inside. I smiled before walking up to the counter. I pulled out my phone and saw that Isabelle had texted me saying that if I was going to the café if I could please get her a hot chocolate followed by a winking emoji and a ‘got get ‘em’.
I laughed softly before stepping up to place my order. Looking up from my phone I saw that it was the little old lady standing behind the counter. She gave me a massive smile before saying, “I knew you would come back. I’m glad that you are back. I have a good feeling about why you are here.”
I looked back at her before saying, “What do you mean?” she smiled, and her eyes formed small little crescent moons. There was something about this little old lady. She seemed to know something I didn’t. she always had this aura of peace around her but at the same time she was mischievous. She seemed so aware of everything, so Intune with everyone and always smiling.
She only smiled. Didn’t respond to my question. Her eyes glanced towards the door, past my head when the doorbell chimed. That was the first time since I had ever seen her, that the beautiful smile disappeared.
I frowned ready to turn around, but the little old lady quickly jumped into action, grabbing my attention and saying, “What is it that you would like to order dear?”
I was slightly confused as to why she suddenly changed. Her whole demeanour changed and then she wouldn’t let me look behind me. Very strange.
“Um, could I please have one hot chocolate, one Chai tea and one cappuccino. And three chocolate muffins.”
The little old lady smiled before putting my order through the register. She told me the total and I looked down and looked through my purse for my card. It was then that I heard that voice, that laugh. The voice that intrigued and scared me at the same time. The voice that I had hoped to hear when I came here.
But it was what followed, a female giggle and his laugh. I felt my heart drop slightly. I don’t understand why I felt so heartbroken, so upset. I didn’t even know the man that well but just hearing him laughing with another girl I felt so heartbroken.
I took in a deep breath and looked up at the little old lady who was looking at me with sad eyes. I shook my head slightly before handing her my card. Once the payment was through, I thanked her and walked off to the side to wait for my order.
I planned on keeping my head down, trying to keep my identity to him unknown. Make this a little less awkward for me, even if it isn’t awkward for him. It was only when he spoke again that I looked up. He was dressed in black jeans and a dark green pull over long sleeve shirt. He looked good. He was dressed in casual clothes and he looked so good.
My eyes glanced over to the female standing next to him. She was about a head shorter than him. She had light brown bobbed hair and soft hazel eyes. She was pretty, fit to be the girlfriend of someone as gorgeous as Taehyung. I was not.
I pulled my eyes away from her to look up at him, only to find him already staring at me. When our eyes connected, I felt my heart stop beating for a second. And then increase as he just continued to stare. I pulled my gaze away as the little old lady called me. I walked up to her and grabbed the order from her hands. She gripped my hand in comfort and nodded. I thanked her, smiled and turned around.
Everything felt like it was in slow motion as I walked past him. I could feel his eyes on me, from the corner of my eyes I saw his girlfriend moving up to place their order with the little old lady. He didn’t move his body, but his eyes followed my movements. I pulled my gaze away from him and carried on walking. I pulled the door open and stepped out into the cold.
I sighed as I walked away, it felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest and stomped on it. Everything still felt as if it was in slow motion. A hand suddenly gripped my upper arm and stopped me from walking. The person turned me around and I found myself looking at Taehyung. It looked like he had run out of the café. I looked at him, his eyes were trained on me, his grip on my arm only increasing. He was about to open his mouth to say something when I put my hand up stopping him from saying anything.
“There’s no need to explain. We don’t know each other at all. You have nothing to explain or to stand up for yourself. I have to go now, please excuse me.” I said softly. His grip tightened once again.
“No. Let me explain. Please it’s not what you think.” He pleaded. I tried to pull my arm away from him, but he just held me place.
“Taehyung, please. You don’t need to explain. I really need to go. Please let me go.”
“Tae. Call me Tae.”
“I can’t. In fact, even Taehyung is unprofessional. Now please excuse me. I have to go.” With a semi-forceful tug, I managed to get my arm free.
“Goodbye Dr Kim. I hope you enjoy the show this afternoon.” I bowed slightly before turning and walking away. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked away. I couldn’t help but feel betrayed. I had never felt like this before, he seemed like he was interested in me, but I know now that it was just a game of tag along.

He looked at me again, “It’s the least I could do.” I looked back down at my menu. And then at my hand.
“But it was my fault. I bumped into you. I dropped the coffee all over you as well.” I stated. “The least I could’ve done was pay for the dry cleaning of the shirt.”
He shook his head before saying, “Its fine it didn’t even stain so don’t worry about it. Plus, all that was ‘damaged’ to me was the shirt, but you burnt your hand and in my eyes that’s more serious than a coffee stain on a shirt.”
I nodded; I had a feeling that this little argument wasn’t going to get anywhere. The last thing I said was, “Thank you anyway.”
He smiled and nodded before looking to the waitress that had arrived to take our orders. She looked like a 16-year-old student, trying to earn a little pocket money. She puffed out her chest as she spoke to Taehyung. She upped the act of her flirting game. Gently touching his arm while he pointed at our orders on the menu. She completely ignored my existence. I looked away, there was a feeling in my stomach, one that I couldn’t explain.
He said, “Thank you” and nodded at the waitress as she walked away. This feeling was strange, it was like a felt jealous over someone I didn’t even really know. Someone who seemed to shift from kind and warm to closed off and icy.
I was looking down at my lap, deep in thought when he cleared his throat to catch my attention. I looked up and saw that he was playing with the straw of his water all while his eyes were fixed on me.
It was silent, he didn’t say anything that focused his gaze on me. I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable, it was like the was trying to study me again. In order to change the subject, I said, “So, why did you agree on coming to see the show?”
“Well, the friend who invited me said that he was friends in the show and that he has always wanted to see it. So, when he invited the group, I thought that it was something different that we could do as a group.” He answered.
I nodded before looking down at my own glass of water. I was extremely curious as to why he was so adamant to take me out to dinner, or for me to have dinner. I was more of a patient than anything else and even I, who doesn’t really have much social experience, knew that this wasn’t normal.
He truly confused me but if he wanted me to eat something, I would take the free food any day. Most of the dinner was filled with a comfortable silence between us. The waitress came back with our orders and she placed my plate in front of me first before taking her time, leaning forward as she placed Taehyung’s plate in front of him. He watched her as she did this. As did I, but I found myself just wishing that I could get up and leave, walk back to my hotel and go to sleep. But. That would be rude considering that he was paying for the meal.
So, what I did was just look down at my own plate and play around with the fries on my plate until I heard him say thank you and basically signal her to leave. I kept my head down, totally lost in my own thoughts. Why was the interaction between Taehyung and the waitress bothering me so much? I don’t even know him at all.
Taehyung didn’t say anything after the waitress left, he just started to eat his own food. I also started to eat my food and that was that. Once we had finished our meals he just asked for the bill, paid and then we left. He had gone cold again. He just closed off. The whole walk back to the hotel was in silence.
I just couldn’t understand why one minute he was warm and bubbly then suddenly he was cold and closed off. Not talking. He was just gazing off into the distance. When we arrived at the hotel when I walked in, he didn’t stop, he continued to follow me as I walked down the passages until I got to my room.
“Thank you for the food and for walking me back to the hotel.” I said as I opened the door. He was silent but as I stepped into the room turning around to face him, he said, “It was my pleasure. I hope you have a good night and good luck for the show tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it.”
I nodded before saying, “I hope you enjoy it even if it might not really be your type of thing.” He looked at me once again before nodding, turning away and walking down the passage. I kept my gaze on him until he disappeared out of my sight.
I sighed and closed the door. I leaned against the door and rubbed my temple before pushing myself off the door and walking further into the room and tossing my bag onto my bed and then changing into my pyjamas, brushing my teeth and climbing into bed.
I plugged my phone into the charger before looking through some messages and replying to a few. I put my phone down on the nightstand, turning off the lights and falling asleep.

“Y/N Y/SN” the voice called again. Knocking me out of my trance like state. I slowly stood up from the seat I was sitting in and walked towards the nurse, who was dressed in lilac scrubs. She smiled at me and took me by the hand and led me down the passage. Walking down the passage felt like ages. We took a right turn and she walked past three more doors before stopping at one.
She gripped the door handle and pulled it downwards. She pushed the door open and the immense smell of disinfectant hit my senses. I sucked in a deep breath and slowly realised it. Feeling my heart rate increase as she stepped in and turned back to motion me inwards.
I stepped through the threshold slowly and looked around. The room was a fair size, not too small and not overly spaced. In the centre was the black and white dental chair along with the dental stool and equipment around the chair. There were a few computers and computer screens near the walls along with cupboards that stored most things I’m sure I wouldn’t want to know about. Lastly there were a row of drawers along the back wall, with clear glass doors you could see that they stored mostly masks and gloves. Maybe a few tools and other equipment.
The nurse motioned for me to step further into the room. I did but in small steps rather. She smiled softly at me and motioned once again but this time for me to take a seat on the chair. I looked back behind me, seeing as the passage was empty, I thought maybe it would be a good idea to just make a run for it.
“Miss, please just take a seat. Nothing is going to happen for the next few minutes beside me taking a few x-rays and a routine cleaning. Nothing is painful but if you feel pain, we can give you something for that pain. It’s just me for now and we can take it slowly. The dentist is busy with another patient now and will only come once called.” The lady said.
She gently took my hand and led me to the chair. I looked at her before sitting down on the chair. She smiled before walking to the drawers, grabbing a pair of lilac gloves and a white face mask. She walked to the drawer and pulled out the x-ray film and holder. She then walked back to me and placed it in my mouth, she then moved the x-ray machine to me before leaving to take the x-ray.
When she came back into the room, she immediately started setting up for a cleaning. She pressed the button the moved the chair to lay in a 180° position. She sat down on the stool behind the head rest of the chair and pulled the mask upwards, covering her mouth and nose. She adjusted the light above my head and asked me to open my mouth to do the cleaning.
After about 20 minutes, she was finished and pushed the button and the chair lifted back into a seat position. “That wasn’t too bad was it?” She smiled before writing something on the computer behind her. She stood up and said, “Right I’m going to get the doctor.”
She smiled once again before disappearing down the passage. I stood up from the chair and looked at the open door. Deciding against my better judgement that my heart had had about enough of this panic and I slowly gathered my stuff and walked to the door. I stuck my head out the door and when I saw that nobody was in the passage I decided to casually walk out of the room and down the passage back towards the reception.
As I continued to walk down the passage with my head down, I passed a room with a glass door, looking in I saw the same man from before talking to the nurse who I was with earlier. Panic immediately took over my body and when I noticed that they were now heading to the door.
I turned away and kept my head as I walked further away. My pace increased as I listened for any signs that they had realised that their patient had disappeared. I heard the door shut and their voices before it all stopped. The movement of footsteps ceased, and the talking stopped. My heart rate increased. I willed my legs to continue walking and not give way.
After what felt like ages the footsteps started again, but this time they were getting closer not further. My pace slightly increased once again. Some might say that you’re overreacting and that it’s not that big of a deal, you go in get checked and leave. There’s nothing to fear. But for some people its everything that they fear pushed into one room and they are forced to stay and face it. Not many people can understand but it’s just something that I don’t ever want to face, and I have managed to avoid it until now.
Plus, it doesn’t help that the dentist is this gorgeous man who comes across as the coldest person you’ll ever meet. By now, once I had realised that it was most probably the dentist who was following by the sound of his footsteps.
I saw the light at the end of tunnel as the reception was now in view. My heart dropped to my stomach when I felt a hand place itself on my shoulder. The warmth from the hand seeped into my skin and I felt myself shiver. I stopped but didn’t turn around.
“Miss Y/N?” the deep voice said from behind me. His voice was like ice. Cold and straight to the point. I shook my head and tried to carry on walking but his grip on my shoulder tightened slightly, halting me in my steps once again. I looked down at my hands, they were shaking by now and I knew that I couldn’t get away now. I had to face this fear and I had to do it with someone who didn’t seem to have people skills.
I sighed and turned around to face him. I kept my head down, not wanting to see the look on his face. He sighed before gently taking my arm in his hand and walking back down the passage towards the same room. We walked past the nurse who sent me a sad smile and mouthed, “It will be fine, don’t worry.”
I looked away as we came closer and closer to the exam room. He stopped in front of the door and pulled the handle down and pushed the door open. He walked into the room and pulled me gently through the threshold before letting go and making sure to close the door behind him. I just stood by the door as he walked over to the computer and typed something into it before moving away and grabbing a pair of blue gloves and a white mask from the drawers.
He placed the strings behind his ears and left the mask underneath his chin before placing the gloves on the metal tray near the tray. I picked at the side of my fingers as I kept my head down trying to calm my heartbeat down.
“How is your hand?” He asked. I looked up shocked from the question. He was now looking directly at me, his icy eyes trained on my own. I instinctively looked down at my hand that was no longer covered but healing nicely.
“It’s okay, healing well.” I replied softly. I bite my lip out of nervousness and he sighed before saying, “Look I get that you are nervous, but what have you got to be nervous about? From what I can see on your x-rays there is nothing seriously wrong so why are you so nervous that you tried to run away from it.”
I stayed quiet and pushed my nausea aside before lowering my head once again. He sighed before moving closer to me, not only making me more stressed but also making me take a step back. “I deal with dental nervousness every day. I know that you are nervous, but I can assure you that there really is nothing to be afraid of. Can you please just take a seat on the chair and I will talk you through everything that will happen.” He paused, and from a single moment the ice in his voice was replaced by warmth and comfort. His eyes moved from my own towards the dental chair and then back to mine. He then spoke again, the warmth still presents in his voice,
“I won’t do anything until you feel comfortable. I promise you that everything will be alright.”
I closed my eyes but sighed softly before placing my things on the seat next to me before walking slowly to the chair. He to sat down on his stool next to the chair, once I was sitting in the chair he smiled, the first time I had seen him really smile. He had a beautiful smile. I shivered and looked away. “Right so what I’m going to do is lay the chair back and the first thing I’m going to do is check your teeth out. Make sure that there is no decay or problems.”
I nodded, almost just giving up in my head and telling myself that everything will be okay and that he won’t hurt me. He pressed the button that lowered the chair once again. He adjusted the light and lifted the mask up over his mouth and nose. I looked away from him and tried to find something that could possibly help with the rising nerves.
My eyes shot back towards him when I felt his hand on my shoulder once again, he had moved so that the stool was directly underneath the head of the chair. He reached over to the metal tray and grabbed the gloves before saying, “So are you part of that dance show that had all their medicals done here?”
I cringed slightly when he snapped the gloves on but nodded anyway. He nodded to before saying, “My friend asked me if I wanted to go and see the show.” I looked up into his eyes, he continued while reaching over and pulling the tray closer. “I’m going with a group of my friends tomorrow evening.”
I nodded, at a loss of words. He smiled, or I think he smiled. “Okay, so I’m just going to feel around for any cavities or things like that. If you feel any pain just raise your left hand and I will stop. We can take this at whatever pace you like. You’re the last patient today so don’t stress about taking your time.”
“Okay” I said softly. He nodded before reaching over and placing a plastic bib over my chest and saying, “The best thing to do is to just take a deep breath and try to calm your nerves. I know that doesn’t sound like the best thing to do but the more you breath, the more you will feel at ease. When you’re ready, you can open your mouth and we can get started.”
I listened to what he said and took in a few deep breaths, closing my eyes to try and rid my mind of the images that plagued my mind. Slowly, the images ceased, and I found myself becoming a little more at ease. Though I was still tense in the chair, I found myself opening my mouth slightly for him to look in.
When I felt his finger pull my cheek slightly, I opened my eyes, to find that he was looking directly into mine. His eyes still held the warmth in them and just from that I found myself once again relaxing.
“Okay, that’s good. All I’m going to do is use this tool called a sickle probe and a mouth mirror and I’m just going to touch each tooth to feel if there are any cavities. This shouldn’t be painful but if you do feel pain let me know.”
I kept my gaze on his eyes as he looked down into my mouth. I watched as his eyes followed each movement he made, it felt very weird to have his hands inside my mouth and I knew then that I hated the taste of latex. His face only showed pure concentration while he was busy examining my teeth.
After a few minutes he removed the tools from my mouth and pressed the button to lift the chair up. He pulled off the gloves and tossed them into the bin next to the wall. He moved the mask back down underneath his chin and he moved to the computer.
He hadn’t said anything as he looked over what seemed to be files on his computer. I fidgeted with my fingers on the chair my nerves increasing again due to the silence.
“Is it over, can I leave now?” I asked quietly. At this he turned in the stool and faced me. I looked away from his intense stare. “You have a cavity. You do have the choice to have it filled by me now or you can leave it and have it filled at a later stage, but if you do choose that the cavity’s severity may have increased causing it to be more painful and harder to treat.” He said.
I looked away from him, my eyes falling on my hands in my lap. I heard him get up off the stool and I looked up as he stopped in front of me. I watched him as he sat down in front of the chair on his haunches. “What happens when you fill the cavity?” I asked him.
“Well, I would have to give you three injections to numb the area, clean out the cavity by drilling it away and filling it with a composite filling. That is, it.” He answered.
“So, what you are saying is that you would stick three needles into my gums.” I stated. He seemed to have caught onto my slightly sarcastic voice as he let out a light chuckle. “Yes, but the area would be numb before each needle. You won’t feel anything other than the tingling of the anaesthetic taking effect in your nerves.”
I looked back down at my hands, thinking. If I were to do this now, I don’t ever have to go through this again. Even as a child I’ve never actually feared the drill as most people do but rather the thought of having so many needles in my mouth.
I looked up at him to see him waiting patiently. He was looking directly at me. “Okay, we can do it now.”
He stood up and smiled before saying, “It shouldn’t take too long. I’m just going to get the materials and prepare. I will be back, just sit tight.”
He then left the room calling for who I assume was the nurse from before. I sat in the chair looking down at my hands, fiddling with my fingers when I heard my phone ding. I got up from the chair and went over to the phone. I saw that there were two messages, one from Isabelle and one from Hoseok.
I opened Isabelle’s message first and it read, Y/N, Sam and I have gone back to the hotel. How is it going? Which dentist did you see? How are the nerves holding up? Call me when you leave the clinic. Love ya!
Next, I opened Hoseok’s message. It said, Hey. So, is it okay that after the performance you, Isabelle and her ‘boyfriend’ come to dinner with us? Us being with my girlfriend and my friends? I have spoken to Isabelle and she said that they are in, but I must just check with you first.
I sent him a reply saying that it was fine and that we would see them then. I was still handing looking through my messages which also included messages from Eva, Sam, Isabelle and some others. I was so busy reading the messages that I didn’t hear the door open again.
“I hope that you’re not changing your mind now.” A voice called from the door. I jumped and clutched the phone to my chest to avoid dropping it. I turned around and saw Taehyung standing at the door with another metal tray in his hands. He had it covered with a blue cloth. He watched me as I put my phone back in my bag before I shook my head saying, “As much as I want to, I don’t want to go through this again, so no I’m not.”
He nodded before placing the tray down on the moveable tray connected to the chair. “I just realized that I never introduced myself. My name is Dr Kim Taehyung.”
“It’s okay, I know who you are. You’re the only male dentist here plus you seem to be quite a popular dentist among the people. I heard many great reviews about you.”
“if you had heard so many great reviews, why were you so scared earlier?” he asked
“who says I’m not scared now? But it’s not you necessarily that I’m afraid of. Its more this whole thing, the place and what you do here that scares me.” I found myself uttering to him.  I paused before saying quickly, “I don’t know why I said that. You just seem to have some sort of comforting atmosphere around me and that helps me calm down a little.”
He smiled at me before motioning to the chair again. I sighed before slowly sitting in the chair once again. The door opened and the nurse came in, closing the door behind her. I turned to look at Taehyung, only to see that his face had lost all the warmth it once held and was replaced by an icy mask.
My eyebrows knitted together when I noticed that he now looked at me with the same icy stare as when we started. And the thing was I couldn’t understand why he had suddenly changed into this cold, intimidating person again.
I looked away from him and at the nurse. She smiled at me before handing him a pair of blue gloves and slipping a pair on herself. The room suddenly felt like a fridge and as the nurse was placing a new bib over my chest, I felt myself begin to hyperventilate. I looked back at him, and he still held this icy look. All the warmth and comforting feeling that had once radiated from him, just disappeared.
I found myself, trying to get out of the chair and trying to stand. He immediately grabbed my arm and I found myself trying to push his hand off my arm, but he only tightened his grip slightly. Sending a look to the nurse, she quickly left the room and he leant forward and whispered in my ear.
“Everything will be fine, just lie down and relax.” I shook my head and tried desperately to get his grip off my arm. I felt like I had to fight for my life. More importantly I felt like I couldn’t breathe, and tears started falling down my cheeks.
He stood up moved to sit in front of me. He had now placed both hands on my arms halting my movement completely. “I need you to calm down. Take deep breaths in and out.”
I shook my head and tried again to push him off me. The nurse came back into the room with a glass of ice water in her hand and she handed it to him. And while he had his attention away from me, I used the opportunity to pull his other hand off my arm and get off the chair.
The nurse said something to him in Korean and he looked at me before leaving the room. I sunk down to the floor and put my head in between my legs. The nurse walked to me carefully and kneeled in front of me.
“Just take in deep breaths. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. You are going to be okay.” I looked up at her and she handed me the glass of ice water. I took it carefully. Taking a sip, I looked away and tried to calm my breathing. The door opening again, and Taehyung came back in. He was holding a blanket in his hands. The nurse looked at him before saying to me, “Give me your hand.”
I looked at her before placing my hand in hers. She gently pulled me to my feet and walked me to the chair again. All I felt now was tiredness seeping into my body. I felt faint and tired. She took the blanket from Taehyung, before seating me on the chair and placing the blanket over my body. “How do you know how to deal with this so well?” I asked her. She smiled at me before saying, “My sister used to get massive panic attacks when she was younger. I learnt from being with her, how to handle it and being a dental nurse requires it quite often.”
I nodded feeling my body become lightweight. They lowered the chair, and Taehyung placed a mask over my nose. I looked up at him, and he looked down into my eyes, the warmth back. The last thing I remember was his eyes before my eyes closed and I fell into a deep sleep.

We left the hotel room at about 6pm to head down to the hall for rehearsals. I had brought all my waters and snacks for the evening in my backpack. We entered the hall and started the rehearsal immediately. It consisted of running through sections and working out placements and then with the music and finally going through the whole routine. After a couple of hours, we had the dance down and had decided that we would meet up again tomorrow evening to just run through it a couple of times. Isabelle and I walked home while the others decided to go out to a bar. Once we arrived at the hotel and walked into our room, we both passed out and slept.
*The Next Day*
I woke up bright and early. I sat up in bed and sighed. Today was the day and I just didn’t want to get out of bed. I decided that the best thing for me to do was to take a calming walk along a stream or forest. These always helped calm my nerves.
I took a quick shower and changed into a pair of long leggings and a tank top, pulling on a wool jersey and a pair of black Nike shoes. I left another note for Isabelle stating that I was going to rehearse for a while on my own and then walk down to the river and just think for a while.
I walked out of the hotel and down the small streets. Plugging in my earphones I put my playlist on shuffle. I walked and walked until I physically felt the weight leave my shoulders. I felt a calmness fall over my body. I had always found peace at water. I turned and sat down on a bench, looking out to the water that lay ahead.
After about 20 minutes I looked down at my phone and saw that it was time to get something to drink and eat before I go back to the room. I stood up and walked at a slow pace, deciding that I would go to the café by the hotel. I walked down the snowy roads until I found myself standing at the familiar snow-covered door of the café.
I pushed the door open and stepped into the warmth. The little old lady was nowhere to be seen but I pushed that away and stepped into the que. I looked down at my phone and saw that Isabelle had sent me a message and asked me to get her a coffee and if we could rehearse our routine together before we must go. I replied and looked up to move further in the que as the door opened. A gust of cold air flooded my body. A man dressed in a black dress pants, a white shirt and a brown cardigan walked into the café. His hair was covered by a beanie and his face was covered with a mask. He wore glasses as well. He looked familiar but I pushed the feeling aside and stepped up to order and pay before moving aside to wait for my order.
I sat down on a stool in the corner near the door and waited. I was looking down at my phone when I heard the man placing is order.
“3 Coffees and 4 Teas, please.” That voice, it was eerily familiar. Deep and cold almost. I looked up and noticed that he had paid and was to wait for his order. I shudder as his icy eyes stared directly into mine. A concentrated look in his eyes. He was quite intimidating and the look in his eyes beside being concentrated was unknown to me. I tore my eyes from his when my order was called and I stood up to collect it, which happened to be directly next to where he was waiting.
I thanked the person who handed me the coffees. Just as I picked up the drinks his were called and he picked them up and took them to the condiment station. I grabbed two sugars and broke the packets and put them into the coffees and just as I went to grab one of the plastics stirring spoons, he did the same and our hands brushed each other. I pulled my hand back and looked at him. He was already looking at me, the same look in his eyes. I shivered under his gaze.
I bowed slightly before grabbing my coffees and turning away to leave the shop. I opened the door and closed it behind me and as I was walking away, I could still feel his eyes on me. I walked back to the hotel and gave Isabelle her coffee and we went to practice our routine. After the practice we decided that it was time to go to the clinic and face this thing now. We went to Sam’s room and waited for him to change and get ready. It was then that I wanted to change as well into something a little warmer so I said that they must go without me and that I would meet them there.
I walked to my room and changed into a long sleeve shirt until the wool cardigan and a pair of light blue jeans with my black Nike shoes. I tied my hair into a neat side braid and left. I walked out of the hotel and found myself walking down the familiar road to the clinic.
I looked down at my feet as I walked, silent as my panic slowly bubbled in my chest. I looked up when I heard a bunch of giggles coming from up ahead. A group of girls, who I recognised from the dance team, were walking back to the hotel and chatting amongst themselves. It was the group that always thought of themselves in higher standard than everyone else.
“Did you see him?” One of the girls asked the group. “They split the group in half and some people went to him and the other half went to the lady.” Another answered.
“I went to him. He really was a sight for sore eyes. Dark hair and a sculptured face. And don’t get me started on his voice. Plus, he was actually really good and gentle.” One said, she had long black hair and bright blue eyes. I had to laugh at myself. I knew their faces but not their names and they were in the same team as I was. I looked down and smiled slightly.
“I’m going to make some complaint about having pain just so that I can go back there and see him again.” Another one said.
“It seemed like he was interested in you Samantha. You should’ve seen how he looked at you when you left.” A girl with light brown hair said.
The girl, with the black hair smiled and nodded before saying, I’m going to go back sometime soon and ask him out.”
The girls stopped talking when they saw me, and smiled before saying, “Good Luck and let’s hope you don’t see the god we were talking about. He’s far too good to be seen by your eyes. Let alone for him to see you.”
I sighed and just looked away; it was not anything I’m not familiar to. People can be nasty and the best thing to do is just ignore it and walk away. And that’s what I did.
I walked away as I heard their laughter die down. The clinic came into view and my heartbeat increased the closer I got to the door.
I stood in front of the door. With my hand on the handle waiting to push it open. I finally found a little bit of courage left in my body and pushed the door open. I saw the reception full of people, some who I knew and some who I didn’t. I walked to the reception desk and smiled slightly at the lady behind the counter who smiled back at me.
“What’s your name dear?” She asked.
“Y/N Y/SN” I replied softly. She nodded and typed the name into the computer. I stood looking around for my friends and saw that they were sitting in the corner near a window and had kept a seat open for me.
“Do you have your patient number for me dear?” She asked and handed me a file with my name printed on the top and a pen. “Just write it down here for me. I will give the doctors and the dentist upstairs the file. One for the doctor and one for the dentist. Once you have been seen by a doctor you may then head upstairs and give this to the lady at the desk.” She handed me a slip with my name and the file number for the file so that they could send it to the dentist.
With shaking hands, I took the pen and wrote my number on the file. #5532. Handing it back to her, she said, “Take a seat dear they will be with you shortly. And don’t stress everything will be fine.”
I smiled sadly at her and nodded before heading to my friends. I sat down and sighed softly. Isabelle put her hand on my knee and squeezed it, her way of telling me everything was going to be okay.
After about 20 minutes Isabelle was called and another 10 minutes and Sam were called. I was left alone. I waited in silence. After 10 minutes Isabelle came back and smiled before heading up stairs. I waited another 5 minutes before a figure appeared by the door.
“Y/N Y/SN” sounded in the near empty room. I stood up and followed the nurse who lead me down a small passage to a room I was very familiar with. I smiled and thanked the lady before walking into the room.
“Y/N!” A voice called and a body appeared from behind the curtain where he was putting something away.
“Dr Park!” I said and smiled. I sat down and we started the medical which went by very quickly. He smiled and said, “You are in very good health Y/N. I’m just going to get Dr Kim to look at your hand. I’ll be back.”
I nodded and he left the room only to come back with Dr Kim. “Y/N how is that hand?” he asked.
“It’s good Dr Kim. The pain has gone, and I think its healing well.” I said as he inspected my hand. He nodded and said, “He will be happy. I will also give you some more ointment for your hand.” I looked at him before saying, “Who will be happy?”
He just smiled and raised his eyebrows. Then he left. Dr Park smiled at me and started to fill out a form that was in the file. He smiled at and said, “Ok Y/N, all you have to do is go upstairs and hand the slip to the lady and wait to be seen by one of the dentists.”
I didn’t move at all. He looked at me and saw that my hands were slightly shaking in my lap. I let my head fall and looked down at my lap. I didn’t say anything, but I think he got the message without needing to hear anything from me.
“Are you nervous? You know there’s nothing to be nervous about.” He said looking at me. I nodded but still didn’t move. Or lift my head. He stood up and walked around the desk to stand in front of me.
“Okay. I’m friends with everyone here and I can assure you that everything will be okay. No one here wants to hurt you. We are trained to take care of the patient and if there is something to be done you will be told and walked through everything I promise. You’ll like the dentist I promise. Don’t worry.” He patted my leg and took my hand pulling me to my feet.
“If you feel nervous, I can assure you just let them know and they will take it slow. You can trust them. Now go and face this.” He opened the door and walked me out. He gently pushed me towards the stairs. I turned back to him and he gave me a big smile and a double thumbs up. I turned back and walked up the stairs.
I followed the stairs until I came to a glass door and pushed it open. The dental office was coloured in a navy blue and light grey. There was a reception desk in the centre of the room and a passage that obviously led to the exam rooms. I walked to the reception and handed the lady the slip. She smiled at me and told me to take a seat.
I saw Isabelle and she called me over. I walked over and sat down next to her. She took a hold of my hand and said, “Everything will be okay. You don’t need to worry, everyone that’s left has only had good comments about the dentists.”
I nodded and sighed to myself, playing with my nails. We waited in the silent room as each person was called by a nurse and led away. It seemed that each person went in and came out after about 30 minutes. After the first person was called a tall man walked down the passage dressed in black pants and a white shirt. He had a white mask underneath his chin. He walked to the reception desk and had his back facing us.
He must be the Dr Kim Taehyung from the article I had read yesterday. I did not really want to pay much attention to him until Isabelle nudged me in the side a couple of times that I lifted my eyes from my lap to look at her. She pointed to the man. I immediately recognised him. It was the man from the coffee shop, the one that I had spilt coffee on. Oh crap. This is going to be an interesting visit. Well let’s hope that I don’t see him and rather see the other dentist. He turned and was about to walk back down the passage when our eyes connected. Those eyes, his outfit except for the cardigan. It was then that I realized that he too, was the man I saw at the café a couple of hours ago. He smiled softly before turning and walking back down the passage.
“Miss Isabelle Smith.” A nurse called from the passage. I looked at her as she stood and walked down the passage after the nurse. I sighed and tried to calm my excessive beating heart. I felt like everyone could hear it and that It was echoing in my ears as I sat with one or two more people in the waiting room.
It felt like ages until I heard someone walking down the passage once again. I held my breath as the sounds of footsteps got closer and closer. The footsteps stopped and a voiced called.
“Miss Y/N Y/SN”

I arrived back at the hotel at about 6:45am. I walked up to my room and opened the door. Once I walked in, I heard the shower going.
“Isa I’m back!” I softly shouted. “Okay!” She yelled back. I laughed lightly before heading over to my suitcase and grabbing a pair of jeans and changing into a proper jacket and slipping on a pair of flats and tying my hair into a high ponytail. I applied a very light amount of natural makeup.
I sat on my bed waiting Isabelle to come out of the bathroom so that we could go for breakfast. After a couple more minutes she came out of the bathroom wearing a pair of white jeans and a navy-blue shirt with a light grey pull over jersey in her hand. She was wearing sneakers. Her hair was down and slightly wet, but she slipped on her jacket and motioned for us to head down for breakfast.
Once we were at the breakfast hall, we walked to the table Sam was sitting at. I sat down in front of Sam and Isabelle sat next to him. I got up to get coffee and breakfast and we all ate in silence. Once breakfast was done Eva came to collect everyone so that we could start rehearsals.
Rehearsals was uneventfully as everyone just went through their routines 3 or 4 times and then we ran through the whole show twice before taking a break. It was during the rehearsals when things got a little more stressful for me at least. Eva came into the hall with the same pack of papers, this time they were in different coloured files, probably for each person.
“Okay! Everyone attention please!” Eva called out once she stopped in the centre of the hall. Everyone crowded around her. “Sit down everyone” She said, and everyone did as she said.
“Right! So, we have sorted out all the paperwork which has been sorted into each pile per person. You will be given the file which will tell you which group you are in and what time you must be at the clinic tomorrow. Tomorrow will just be a clinic day, no rehearsals but please bear in mind that we will have rehearsals the day after in the evening and it must be attended unless stated otherwise.”
With she started handing out the files. She handed me mine which was a light violet colour with my name written neatly onto the sticker on the top cover. I took in a deep breath, I didn’t really want to look through the papers but I had to once Eva said, “You will give back the files as I have to give them all in this afternoon to the clinic. Make sure to make note of your group and what time you must be at the clinic. Luckily the clinic is a couple of streets from the hotel about a 5-10-minute walk. Please also be aware that the clinic cancelled most of their appointments for us and try your best to be well behaved while waiting. The name of the clinic is NEW CARE CLINIC. They are apparently the best in the field in South Korea so do bare that in mind as well.”
I looked down at my file opening to the first page, it read,
NAME: Y/N Y/SN
AGE: 21
LANGAUGE: ENGLISH
GROUP NUMBER: 2
TIME TO BE AT CLINIC: 12:30pm – preferably about 10 – 20 minutes early.
PAITENT FILE NUMBER: #55328649AL
PAITENT NUMBER: #5532
My heart dropped when I realized that this in fact was going to happen. At least I might not have to face the dentist first. But I will only find that out tomorrow. I looked at Isabelle and she held up 2 fingers telling me that she was in the second group. Sam was also in the second group which meant that we could go together.
I pushed all thoughts of the next day out of my head and got up, grabbed Isabelle’s hand along the way. I pulled her up and we handed our files back to Eva and waved goodbye to Sam before walking back to the hotel.
Once we arrived in changed into fresh clothing and then decided to explore a little before meeting Hoseok at the café. We went down to the small parks and walked along rivers taking pictures and getting some ice cream like crazy people in the middle of winter.
We started to head to the café at about 2:10pm. After about a 10-minute walk we arrived at the end of the street the café was on. We walked down the street and pushed open the door of the café. The smell of freshly ground coffee and fresh bread, my absolute favourite smell. I sighed in content as we walked over to one of the small tables. We were sitting close to where the other guy was sitting.
The little old lady came to the table to give us some menus. Once she saw me, she did a little jump of joy. I smiled and looked down, slightly embarrassed since she was so excited to see me. Almost like she knew me. But I had embarrassed myself so badly yesterday and dropped her coffees on the floor, I would’ve thought that she would be more upset than happy to see me.
“My dear! You’re back! I hope you are feeling okay!” She said with excitement prominent in her voice. She handed us a couple of menus while I said, “I am feeling okay thank you.”
She clapped her hands in happiness. She smiled a larger than life smile before leaning closer to me and saying, “He asked me if you had been in this morning. Was completely worried out of his mind.”
I looked at her confused, who would ask if I had been here this morning. “I’m sorry but I don’t know why you are referring to.” I said, and all she did was smile even more before turning and returning to her counter. I looked at Isabelle who just looked totally amused by the whole thing. We looked through the menu which consisted of normal light lunch meals drinks and small homemade desserts.
I looked up when the door opened allowing a gush of cold air to fill the café. Hoseok walked into the café wearing a big coat and a beanie. He immediately saw us and walked over. We greeted each other before he said down.
“Hoseok! It’s been so long! Tell us, how’s it going?” I said, as he sat down.
“It has been a long time. I’ve missed you guys so much! Well, I finally opened my own veterinary clinic about 30 minutes from here.” He said.
“Oh, my Hoseok! I’m so happy for you!” I said. Hoseok had always wanted to be a vet, he had always helped animals even when we met, he was helping a small bunny rabbit that had a broken leg. He always said how it was his dream to own his own veterinary clinic and be able to help as many animals as possible.
“And…. I have a girlfriend.” He said. I looked at Isabelle who had stopped playing with the menu and was now staring at him with a mouth wide open. I laughed slightly and tapped her head to which she responded with by closing her mouth.
“Hobi, since when?” she asked. He looked down at his lap with a small smile on his face. “We actually met at my last job. She brought in her puppy when he swallowed a couple of her pills for the flu, she had accidently knocked off the table.” His face was so bright, and he couldn’t hide the fact that he was totally smitten with her. It was sweet to watch. I was happy for him, he had never really had much luck with love, always falling for the wrong girl.
“We started dating after a couple of months and she was trained as a vet nurse. She’s now working in the clinic with me.” He said. I looked at Isabelle to see her smiling. I couldn’t have felt happier for him.
“Congratulations Hobi! We are so happy for you. Hopefully we could get a chance to meet her sometime?” I asked. He nodded eagerly. The little elderly lady came to take out orders and gave Hoseok a knowing glance and smiled at him.
“You will meet her soon I hope.” He said and we continued to drink our coffees and eat our light lunches. Once all the meals were eaten and all the coffees had been drunk, I asked, “Would you like to come to the show, Hobi?”
“I already have tickets! The second I heard that you were coming we bought tickets. I hope you don’t mind but I’m bringing all my friends and my girlfriend.” He said.
“Oh, we don’t mind at all. As Eva always says the more the merrier. As long as we get to meet these people.” I said. After another coffee we went our separate ways and agreed to have dinner before the show to meet everyone.
I told Isabelle that I wanted to stop at a few shops and that I would meet her at the hotel to walk to the rehearsals later. And with that we went our separate ways. I walked down the small streets until I found a small little shop and wandered inside looking for some memorabilia for this little trip.
Once I had everything I wanted. I said thank you and left the shop and continued to a Seven Eleven where I grabbed myself some bottles of water and some readymade meals for the rehearsal tonight. I knew with the fact that we had to learn a whole new routine and practice together for the first time tonight that it will be a very long night.
As I was about to leave the Seven Eleven my eyes fell on a magazine with the headline, FAMOUS SEOUL DENTIST CAPTURES THE HEARTS OF GIRLS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND COUNTRY.
I didn’t know why but I was curious, so I quickly grabbed the magazine and paid before heading back to the hotel. The walk from the Seven Eleven took about 10 minutes in total. I arrived back at the hotel at 4:45pm. Eva had sent a message earlier saying that our second rehearsal starts at 6:45pm to latest 10pm.
Once I had reached my room, I called out to Isabelle that I was back. She called out that she was in the bathroom and that she would be out of the shower soon. I replied and sat on my bed pulling out the magazine. Flipping through the pages until the headline flashed past my eyes again.
FAMOUS SEOUL DENTIST CAPTURES THE HEARTS OF GIRLS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND COUNTRY.
I turned onto the page to read the article, there weren’t really any pictures that you could see his face but only side profiles.
“Dr Kim Taehyung, aged 25, has stolen the hearts with his good looks, charming personality and kind heart. Not only is he good looking but he is the best dentist is South Korea. Earning this title from his years of training alongside the best teachers. At such a young age, he has excelled to the top of his career and is still the humblest man we have ever seen.” I read.
It was only when I looked over the name again that I recognised it. It was one of the names on the plaque outside the clinic. If the panic wasn’t high enough already, my heart stopped twice. Not only did I have to face this fear but now it will be with the best dentist in the country who according to this article is gorgeous. I’m not very good at talking to guys I think are good looking.
I already knew at this point that I was going to have a very stressful day tomorrow and there was no way that I could get out of it.

I walked over to Sam and Isabella. Once I reached them, I said, “Hoseok contacted me saying that he wants to meet for late lunch tomorrow at the small café we went to earlier”
Isabelle jumped up from her seat, a wide smile spread across her face. “Really I had totally forgotten that Hoseok lived in this area. When did we last see him?”
I thought back, “I think we saw him when he was last in London while we were there. We went to a few West End Shows. I think that was about a year and a half ago.”
“Wow! That’s a long time. What time are you meeting him tomorrow?” Sam asked, while taking Isabelle’s hand and pulling her back down into her seat to stop drawing in the attention she had received when she jumped up.
“Sit down Isa you’re gaining attention and I’m sure that you don’t really want.” Sam whispered while pulling her back into seat. “Okay so I think it’s safe to say that Isa is really excited. Now the next question is what time is the lunch?” Sam asked looking at me.
“Hoseok said that we can meet at the café at about 2:30pm. Do you how long rehearsal is tomorrow?” I said while looking around for Eva, who had disappeared after her little announcement. Isabelle jumped up again but was immediately pulled down when a group of the guys looked over to her with curious eyes. “I think that we have rehearsal from 8am to about 1:30pm. Then we have a 4-hour break and then certain people have more rehearsals in the evening until 10pm. But I don’t know who has evening rehearsals you’ll have to speak to Eva about that.” Isabelle said.
I nodded before standing up when the usher called for the next routine. I walked over to the side of the stage when I saw that Eva was coming out of the wings of the stage. She walked down the stairs and stopped in front of me.
“Eva, I have a question about rehearsals tomorrow. Isabelle told me that we have rehearsals tomorrow morning at 8am but she also said something about evening rehearsals for some people, but I don’t know who is at those rehearsals and wanted to know what’s happening.” I said and sat down when she told me to.
“You do have rehearsals in the morning, but I will need you for the evening rehearsal as well because we have added another group routine, one male lead and one female lead. This routine was kept a secret and it was the managing agency that chose the dancers for this routine. You, Isabelle and Sam were chosen. A total of 5 people is in the routine.”
I was stunned the show was 4 days away, certainly not enough time to learn a full routine but as she stated we must have chosen for a reason. I just nodded and Eva said, “I will send you guys the routine later this evening and you are welcome to stay after to rehearse together before tomorrow but I can assure you, you were chosen for a reason you can do this.”
I was still determined that I was going to see Hoseok tomorrow for lunch and I was going to invite them to the show. I walked back towards the others and continued to watch the rehearsals until we finished and then I went to bed.
*THE NEXT DAY*
I woke up early and decided that I wanted to go for a quick run around the parks near the hotel. I changed into a pair of long leggings and a jacket fit for running. I put on my blue and white running shoes and tied my hair into a messy bun after putting on a fluffy scarf. I wrote a letter for Isabelle to let her know in case I’m not back when she wakes up.
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand and grabbed my keys and left the hotel room. I plugged my earphones into my phone and put them on, pressing shuffle as I left the hotel into the chilly morning breeze. It was about 5:45am when I left the hotel. It was still dark out, but the sun was starting to rise while I was running.
I found myself slowing down and walking towards a bench inside a small park filled with bushes of small plants and tall trees. I walked across the snowy path and once I reached the bench I sat down. Looking around, the park was totally empty. It was totally quiet, a peaceful serene atmosphere. I watched at the colours of the sky started to appear. First a pale yellow, followed by a pale purple and blue. After a few more minutes the colours started to merge and changed into a faded blue and pink colour palette and accompanied by a bright orange sun moving further upwards.
I pulled out my phone and watched over the dance that Eva sent me the day before. It wasn’t that difficult to memorize. Which made my stress levels fade a little bit? But the thoughts that followed in my mind made my stress levels skyrocket. I looked down at my hand, which I had left bandaged while I rehearsed in case of accidently knocking it.
I didn’t understand why the agency was so concerned that they had to have the whole team complete a medical. No matter how many questions anyone put forward not even half of one was answered. Eva herself doesn’t know why they are so adamant about the medical. I have no issue going to a doctor maybe they can give me some other things for the burn but what I just couldn’t get past my mind was the fact that they were completely and undoubtably adamant that all members of the dance team went for dentistry check-ups as well as the normal medical.
I had always had a slight fear of the dentist as I’m sue most people do. I did not fear the drill as most people do, or the fact of feeling totally out of your comfort, don’t get me wrong I hate the fact that you have no choice but to just lay there and let the happenings unfold. Needles have always been a fear of mine, but I’ve gotten over the fear of them being injected into my body after falling ill when I was 16. I couldn’t really explain why I feared the dentist, it was just a fear that I had developed and tried to avoid encountering as much as possible.
After a couple more minutes of solitude and thinking, the sun had fully risen, and it was now nearing time for me to head back to the hotel for breakfast before rehearsals. I stood up from the bench, took one last look at the open park and sun before turning and heading back to the hotel.

Isabelle had never really seen past Sam’s affection. She always thought that it was just his ‘brotherly love’. The affection he gave me was ‘brotherly love’ but what he gives her is certainly not ‘brotherly love’.
Sam sighed before shaking his head. I laughed a little. It was silent for another couple of minutes. We walked side by side down the street. After a couple more minutes we turned onto a separate side road. I was curious as to what Eva was so desperate to talk to the group about.
“Sam, do you know what Eva wants to talk to the group about?” I asked.
“Well, I overheard that it has something to do with the management of the show. She didn’t say much of what is required but it was something that the whole group has to do.”
I nodded and we continued the rest of the way in silence. After a couple more minutes of walking we came to a stop at large wooden door at the side of a large building. He pushed the door open and showed our tags to the guard positioned inside.
He let us go and Sam led us down a few passages and after a couple of turns we walked into the large hall. Eva’s platinum blonde hair stood out, her hair was neatly bobbed and always incredibly tidy. She turned once the door closed and rushed over to us. Embracing me a tight hug, she gushed, “Y/N! Darling, how is that hand?”
“It’s fine Eva, a little sore but manageable.” I replied. She nodded before pulling us towards the group that had now gathered at the stage. I walked and stood in-between Isabelle and Sam. We all waited patiently as Eva filed through paperwork in her hands, she looked like she had no idea what to do to handle whatever she was going to tell us.
“Right! Now that everyone is here, we can discuss the topic at hand.” She broke the silence before taking a chair and seating it in the centre. In her hands, she had spilt the paperwork into more manageable portions. There were 3 piles of paperwork.
“Okay, so I was contacted by the company that puts this show and was instructed that due to the new health and safety law, all staff and dancers have to get medical check-ups and those have to been sent back to the company for inspection before the next leg of the trip. Mr Lee suggested to me that we get them done while we are here as there is a very well-known practice that caters for everything we need in the same building.”
Everyone looked around, clearly confused as to why this was happening. Eva was silent for a couple of seconds before placing down each pile. She looked up and sighed before saying, “All costs will be covered by the company and there are three stages you will do. Stage One is normal Doctor Check-up, just to check that you are in full health and to take care of any sickness you may have. Second stage is Physiotherapy- this is just for the dancers, for obvious reasons. And the third Stage is a Dental check-up.”
My heart dropped as the word passed her lips. I had an immense fear of dentists. Isabelle knew of this and asked, “Eva, why are there Dental check-ups that’s not normally part of a medical?”
“The manager requested it, dear. I, myself am a little confused too but I didn’t want to ask him.” She said.
My mind was running wild. I hated the dentist. Most people do. I never really liked it and avoided it as much as possible. But now I’m going to have to face this fear if I want to be part of this team. I stayed quick just sort of tuned out, thinking to myself. I must face this stupid fear and do it in a foreign country, with people who might not speak English.
My ears perked up when I heard Eva say, “The appointments will be done in three stages as I said before and you will be split into three groups to make the load easier. The first set of appointments are two days from now, so prepare yourselves. I will announce the groups after rehearsal later.”
My heart dropped once again; I didn’t really have much time to properly ready myself either. I took in a deep breath. Held it in for a few seconds and breathed out. Everyone was chatting amongst themselves when Eva said, “Right first rehearsal performance is Beauty performed by Chris and Stephanie. Followed by Black Widow / Torn performed by Y/N and back up dancers.”
I looked over at Isabelle and Sam who were giving me thumbs up as good luck. I walked backstage to wait until our rehearsal. I really loved this dance and being able to be the only main dancer is just great, it’s my first solo with back up dancers and I want it to be perfect. I want to choregraph my own solo dance for the show but haven’t really found an emotion to play off.
20 minutes later, we had run through the dance twice and I was sitting outside the main hall, in the lobby type area, drinking some water and thinking. My phoned buzzed next to me. I picked it up and saw that I had a message from my friend Hoseok, who lived in Seoul.
H: Hey Y/N! I heard that you guys are here! How are you? It would be great to see you guys. If you want, we can meet?
Y/N: Hoseok! I’ve missed you so much! I am great thanks and you? I’m sure everyone wants to see you. We are staying at La Domain. Where do you want to meet?
H: La Domain? I know a small café just around the corner from there. I go there regularly with my friends. We can meet there for a small lunch.
Y/N: Sounds great! When do you want to meet?
H: Tomorrow at 2:30pm?
Y/N: Sounds great! See you tomorrow!

I held out my hand for him to take. Dr Park closed the door behind him as he moved closer to me. He carefully took hold of my hand and examined it. He whispered a few things to Dr Park who nodded and left the room.
“May I ask for your name?” I nodded before saying, “Y/N Y/SN”.  He nodded and jotted it down onto a piece of paper. He looked back at me, before saying, “Okay, Y/N it seems like you have 2nd degree burns on your hand. I know what happened, I am friends with the man that you bumped into. I clean the burn and treat it so that the pain will be numb. I’ll give you some antibiotic cream that will help heal the burn. I would advise that you leave the burn out in the open to heal, it will help prevent infection.”
I nodded as Dr Park came back into the room with a bunch of things in hands, including gauze and something else that I didn’t recognise and some tubes.
“How will I pay for this? I don’t think I will be able to pay for all this.” I said quietly. Dr Kim grabbed the things from Dr Park and started working on my hand. He gently cleaned the blood up and cleaned the burn before gently applying some of the cream that Dr Park handed him. He then covered the burn with the gauze. “This is to keep the ointment on the burn. Once the burn has stopped stinging you can take the gauze off.”
I nodded and began to stand up while Dr Park handed me the tube of ointment. “Put this on every morning and evening. Only use a small amount if you need it during the day.” it was silent for a while before Dr Kim spoke again,
“You don’t have to worry about paying for this, my friend feels that he is at fault as well, so he asked me to help and look. He’s covering the costs.”
My eyes widened and I looked at them. “You can’t be serious I can’t expect him to pay for this. I split the coffee on his shirt. I should be paying for his dry cleaning not him paying for my burn treatment.”
Dr Kim laughed quietly before saying, “It’s already been paid for so maybe if you see him again you can thank him.”
I smiled and said, “Thank you very much. I don’t think I will be able to see him again so thank him for me please.”
Dr Kim nodded and walked me to the door, I waved goodbye to Dr Park and Dr Kim before walking back to the hotel.
I phoned Eva on my way back to the hotel. She picked up after a few rings, “Y/N! How is your hand?”
“Eva, I think I’m going to just go and rest in the hotel room. I’m not feeling so well.” I could practically see her red hair bouncing up and down as she nodded her head, before replying. “Okay, Hun but I will need you here later tonight I need to speak to the group about something. Sam will come and pick you up because I still have you access card.” She said. I replied a simple okay before hanging up and walking past the coffee shop. It was a bit busier than it was this morning. I just continued to walk.
Once I reached the hotel and got to my room, I opened the door and took off my hoodie and collapsed onto the bed. I looked around my room, really taking it in for the first time. When we arrived yesterday it was dark, and we were tired and wanted to sleep. The room wasn’t the biggest, but it didn’t need to be. It had the most amazing view I had ever seen, and the beds were a nice size. I pulled out my phone and logged onto the hotel Wi-Fi and surfed the internet for a while before the thought crossed my mind.
‘Why did pay for my treatment? It was my fault. I crashed into him and possibly ruined his shirt.’
I sighed and shut my phone off after looking at the time, it read 11:35am. And I was bored as hell. I really thought that sitting here would make me feel better but I’m just bored and want to do something. Eva said in a later message that Sam would come and fetch me at 3:30pm. So, I must kill some time before then.
I pulled my phone back up and searched historical venues in Seoul. I had always had a fascination with history and different cultures. I continued to scroll down all the activities when my eyes landed on one that I thought could kill time and would nice to see. A walking tour of the historical side of Seoul. Visiting places such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village. I decided that I was going to do this one. But I continued to scroll to see what else there was to do.
I grabbed my hoodie and slipped it on, grabbed everything that I would need and headed out. I walked down the street towards the train station. I spent most of the day just wondering around Seoul and buying little souvenirs for myself and my family.
After a couple more minutes my phone started ringing, I looked down and saw that it was Sam who was phoning. I answered, saying,
“Hello?”
“Hey Y/N, I’m at the hotel. Eva said that whatever she has to say is important. She said we have to be there now.” Sam said into the speaker.
I sighed but said, “I will be at the hotel in 5. See you,”
“See ya.” He said and then hung up.
I walked down the platform of the train station and out onto the street. I followed the road until I was standing on the road of the hotel. I could see Sam standing outside. His bright blue hair standing out against the snowy scene.
“Sam!” I called out to him once I was close enough for him to hear me. He turned around and smiled before running up to me. He immediately wrapped me in a bear hug, nearly cutting my air supply off.
“Sam. Can’t. Breathe.” I said in between the breaths I could take. He laughed and pulled away sheepishly. He laughed again before reaching into his back pocket and pulling out a lanyard with my picture and name on the board. He handed it to me before saying,
“We really should go. Eva is itching for you to be there when she makes the announcement that she wants to make.”
I nodded and we turn to walk in the direction I had come from. Sam was silent next to me for a while before saying, “How’s your hand?” I looked down at my hand, that was still covered with the gauze and the stinging was slightly fading now.
“It’s okay. Still a little sore but I’ve had it seen to and the doctor said that once the stinging has stopped and the burn has started to heal, I can take the gauze off and let it heal naturally uncovered.”
He nodded and turned away. It was silent before he spoke again. “Isabelle said that you tripped over a guy’s foot causing you to drop the coffees. He’s and asshole. You got hurt.”
I sighed, Sam had always been so protective over myself and Isabelle. We had all come from the same town, Sam is three years older than us, but he was always there when we needed him. I could see that he was in love with Isabelle, but she was too naïve to see it herself.
“It’s okay, it could have been worse. And he told me to go to the doctor I went to. And paid for it all.”
Sam shook his head, saying, “If he hadn’t of tripped you, he wouldn’t have to have paid for your treatment. Therefore, it’s all his fault and he’s an asshole.” He sounded so convinced in his statement that it made me laugh. He stopped walking and looked at me. He was trying hard not to smile, but by then I couldn’t contain the laugh that had bubbled up inside of me. He always found a way to make me laugh, even in the worst situations.
We walked down the street laughing together and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer. He placed a kiss on my temple. Just like an older brother would do to his sister. My laughing died down as I saw a man at the bottom of the street. He was staring at us; I couldn’t see his face totally because he was wearing a mask that covered the base of his face.
He looked very familiar to me, but I turned away for a second to look back at Sam, I wanted to ask him a question but as I looked back to where the person stood, he was gone. He just disappeared. Like poof, gone. But I saw his long black coat go down a corner street.
That was strange. Even from far away I could see that his eyes were trained on me. I turned back to face Sam. He had obliviously missed the whole encounter.
“So, how’s the relationship with Isa? Is she still as naïve as always?”

Isabelle pulled her phone out of her pocket once we had found a small table to put all the coffees down. She turned to me and asked, “Is your hand okay? That burn didn’t look so good.”
The sting that was running through my flesh and up my arm into my shoulder prevented me from answering. I put it simply, “It’s really sore.”
She nodded and typed her password into her phone before calling Eva. The phone rang for a few seconds before the call clicked as she accepted it.
“Isabelle, have you guys got the coffees yet?” Eva immediately said. Isabelle sighed before answering. “Yes, we have the coffees, but an accident happened, and Y/N split the coffee all over her hand, it burnt quite badly.”
It was silent on the other side of the line. Suddenly Eva’s voice along with the voice of one of the other dancers, Sam spoke. “Is she okay?”
“Yes, she is. Its wrapped in a damp towel but she bumped into a guy that caused her to drop the coffee, he gave us a doctors business card and said she must get it seen too as soon as possible.” Isabelle said looking down at the card.
“What is the name of the doctor?” Asked Eva. Isabelle read the name on the card before repeating it to her over the phone. “His name is Dr Kim Seokjin”
Eva sighed into the phone before saying, “Take her to him, get the burn sorted out and then come down to the hall for practice. We’ll start without you but just make sure she is okay. I will send you the address for the hall. Stay at the coffee shop, Sam will go and pick up the coffees.”
Isabelle replied a simple okay before telling me she will wait for Sam and that I must take the card and find the doctor. I took the card from her, nodding. I walked down the street towards the bend in the road, once I had reached the stop street I looked left and right, not seeing anything yet but decided to go to the right side.
I walked down the narrow road, lined with small buildings. From hair salons, to little family owned restaurants. There was a small little animal café as well, which I made a mental note of wanting to go to while I was here. At the end of the block was a building. It was dark grey and was accompanied by glass doors as well as glass windows. There was a massive sign in white which read, NEW CARE CLINIC. It seemed that I had reached the place I was looking for.
I looked at my watch. 7:30am it read. I walked to wall where they had put up all their doctor’s names for references. Next to that it said that the clinic opens at 8:00am. I read over the names one by one, as well as the job listed.
  DOCTORS
Dr Kim Namjoon – Surgeon [Primary office located here] [Surgical office located at Seoul Hospital]
Dr Kim Seokjin – General Practitioner and Burn Specialist
Dr Park Jimin – Paediatrician
Dr Jeon Jungkook - Paediatrician
  DENTISTS
Dr Kim Taehyung – Dentist and Dental Surgeon
Dr Bang Eun Ae – Hygienist and General Dentist
My heart faltered at the Dentist portion, but I forced myself to look past them, I was not here to see a dentist. I was here to see Dr Kim about my burn. Although this practice seems like I do not take just anyone off the street. All the doctors and dentist alike had high qualifications behind their names. Judging from what the outside of the clinic looked like and what I could see from the inside, this place looked expensive. Not anything that I could afford on my small salary from the show.
Just as I was about to turn away and leave to deal with the burn myself, the door to the clinic opened and a voice called out to me.
“Excuse me, miss.” The voice was definably male but not gruff and overpowering. The voice was gentle and kind. I turned around to face the male. He was also very good looking and was dressed in a black button up shirt, black dress pants with matching shoes. He had a white coat in his hand and a stethoscope in the other. So, he must have been one of the doctors here.
“I am sorry, I see that you are not open yet and just thinking about it I’m sure I can deal with this burn by myself. Thank you and goodbye.” I said hastily. I didn’t mean to come off as rude but just the extent of the luxurious look of this man as well as the clinic, intimidated me.
“Miss, wait. Your hand is bleeding. Let me look at it please.” He said. I looked down at my hand only to see that the towel was turning red. I looked back at him to see he had come away from door and was walking toward me.
I nodded weakly and held my hand out for him to look at. He placed his coat on and his stethoscope around his neck before gently taking my hand. He looked up at me, his gaze soft and caring before he put all his attention on my hand. He carefully pulled the towel away from my hand, to which I hissed and tried to take my hand away from his grip. But his grip tightened a bit and he said, “I know this is sore but in order for me to look at it to determine the severity of your hand I have to take the towel off.”
He didn’t say anything else but thought in silence. After while he said, “Come inside, let me look at it my office.” I wanted to shake my head, no, and say that I really could take care of it myself. He gently grabbed my other hand and said, “Please, I insist I can see that you are really hesitant, but I can promise you it will be okay. It is just easily to see inside. Please.”
I hesitated but finally nodded. He smiled and let go to lead the way. He opened the door and let me in before closing the door and walking out in front of me. I looked around the base level of the building. It was obvious that this was the reception. It was painted cream and navy-blue furniture. The desk was wide and a glossy white. There was a big sign on the wall behind the desk, NEW CARE CLINIC.
Next to the door was a small table with fresh flowers. On the other side was a kiddie play section complete with small games. It was beautiful to look at. The man saw that I had stopped to look around. He said, “The building is three stories. This level is the Paediatric doctors and general nurse stations. The second floor is the main doctors and their practice rooms, and the third floor is the dental studio.
I nodded but didn’t say anything. He led me to a light blue door, marked Dr Park. So, he was a Paediatric doctor. It made sense, he was so kind and gentle. He opened the door and told me to sit in one of the seats. He quickly went next door and came back with a pair of white gloves and a small tube of something.
“I am just going to look at your hand, I’m just taking off the towel and looking I promise I won’t touch your hand.” He said as he slipped his gloves on and walked towards me. He carefully lifted the edge of the towel and it was like the towel was stuck to my hand. I hissed lightly but didn’t pull my hand away.
Once he had discarded the towel, he carefully looked over my hand. It lasted a few minutes before he finally said something.
“Okay, so it seems that you burnt your hand, but I don’t really understand how it is bleeding that much. Let me go and fetch Dr Kim, the burn specialist and he can look at it. I think you may have cut your hand without realising it. But let’s get the second opinion, shall we?”
I nodded and looked down at my hand, blood was slowly pooling around the base of my hand. He grabbed a small amount of tissue and told me to keep pressure on the source of the source to prevent further bleeding.
He left the room and I heard him walking up the stairs. A couple of minutes later, he came back in the room and another man was following him. He was taller than Dr Park and had broad shoulders. He was wearing a light blue button up shirt and grey pants. He had a pretty face.
“Hello, I am Dr Kim.” He held out his hand to which I responded to. He smiled at me before asking, “Can I take a look?”

It had started as a normal day, we had landed in Seoul, South Korea a little less than 24 hours ago and I was reeling with excitement about visiting every place I could possibly think of. Isabelle, my best friend, came out of our shared bathroom in the small hotel room we had been placed in. She had a fluffy white towel wrapped around her wet brown hair. I looked away from her as my phone beeped signalling that a message had appeared.
“Y/N can you please go down to the coffee shop around the corner from the hotel and pick up our order of coffees before practice, I cannot because I have a meeting with the manager of the building about some medical issues with some of the dancers. I’ve sent my card along with the receipt, please dear, get yourself and Isabelle something to eat before practice. I don’t want you fainting again. Let me know once you have picked up the coffees and I’ll let you know where the hall is and how to get in.”
The message was from our manager, Eva. She was like a mother to Isabelle and me ever since we started dancing in the show about 3 years ago, she was just a side producer and costume designer. I quickly sent her a reply as Isabelle reached down and picked up a small pouch that was left at our door.
“Let me just tie my hair into a loose bun and then we can go.” Isabelle said, while I to grab an elastic and tied my own hair into a loose side braid. Once we were all ready, I grabbed my grey hoodie and my bag and phone off the nightstand. We walked to the door and I slipped on the hoodie before locking the door and following Isabelle as she led the way to the small coffee shop.
The coffee shop was small and very cosy looking, it was painted a simple coffee brown and white. The panels on the windows were covered in snow and it only added to the beauty of the little coffee shop. From what I could see the inside was warm and had a massive fireplace tucked away in the corner. The small tables were made from olive wood and fitted in so well with the homey feel of the whole place. Isabelle reached for the door handle and pulled it open, engulfing the both of us with the mouth-watering smells of freshly baked breads, croissants and coffee. I audibly sighed in joy as we stepped out of the bitter cold and into the warmth. I looked down at the receipt in my hand, 5 decaf coffees, 4 cappuccinos, 3 hot chocolates and 2 Americanos. “What do you want Isa?” I asked. “I’ll also have a hot chocolate and a croissant.”
“Why don’t we just get a bag of croissants and muffins to take back? I’m sure the rest of the guys are starving.” She nodded and went forward to stand in a que. I handed her the receipt.
I looked around the coffee shop and noticed a small family of three sitting at one of the tables, a husband and his wife both sitting around a new-born baby. I smiled. My dream was to be a teacher, to be able to help little children become the best they can.
My eyes continue to move across the coffee shop, over an elderly man reading a newspaper, a young girl working on a laptop, probably on an assignment. My eyes stopped as soon as they landed on a man, sitting in the far back of the coffee shop, he had dark brown hair and the most handsome face I had ever seen in my life. He had on a simple pair of black trousers along with a white shirt and tartan green tie. In his hand was a large cup of what I am assuming was coffee and he was busy going through notes of some kind. Occasionally writing further small notes along the sides of the pages. He had quite a cold demeanour around him, but he was such a sight for sore eyes, that it was only when Isabelle tapped my shoulder was, I snapped out of the trance he put me in.
I pulled my eyes away from him and looked toward Isabelle only to notice that the que had grown longer, and Isabelle was now in the front of the que. Isabelle had handed the elderly lady the receipt and I smiled at her. She responded with the brightest smile I’ve ever seen and to be honest it totally made my day. She went off to prepare our order and it was then that I noticed the man in the far corner packing up and checking his watch before standing up.
Isabelle handed me three cups of steaming coffee and two small bags filled with muffins and croissants. I began to walk to the door, but I had all my attention on the items I was carrying and not really paying attention to where I was walking or who was around me. My head was down, and my eyes were trained on the coffees. I hadn’t even noticed a pair of black dress shoes coming closer to me. It all happened in slow motion as my foot tripped over the black dress shoe and the coffees went flying out of my hands, one landing on the ground, spilling the coffee all over the floor and the other falling directly onto a crisp white shirt. One managed to stay in my hand but had split all over my hand, the cap off and the hot liquid seeping into my hand.
“Shit!” I exclaimed as I looked at the shirt, I hadn’t lifted my head, in fear of seeing the face of the person I had just split piping hot coffee all over. I immediately reached over and grabbed a handful of napkins and hopelessly dabbed at the massive stain on his shirt.
“I am so sorry, sir. I didn’t see you there and tripped over your foot. Please let me pay for the dry cleaning.” I spoke the words faster than I ever could have thought I was able to. It was then that I finally lifted my head to look at the person only for my eyes to slightly widen and my cheeks to get a slight pink tint to them when I noticed that it was the man, dressed now in a black coat over the shirt. He was even more gorgeous up close. It was silent as he looked down at the stain that I was still trying hopelessly to dab away. His hand shot up to hold my own to stop my movements with the wet napkins. I looked up at him, his dark brown orbs locked on my own and he just stared. Still holding my hand.
It felt like ages that we just stood there, staring into each other’s eyes, before Isabelle’s voice broke the trance. “Oh my! Y/N! What Happened?”
The time before I could get a word in, the man spoke. His voice as smooth as honey and as deep as the ocean. “It’s okay, we just bumped into each other, and the coffees slipped out of her hand.” His English was pretty good. His eyes held some sort of reserved emotion that I couldn’t quite understand. And it was that very look in his eyes that had me hooked. He moved his eyes down to the hand that was still clutching the last coffee before he placed his bag on the ground and carefully took hold of my hand, his one hand enveloping around mine. The elderly lady handed him a damp cloth and he sent her a thankful glance. He carefully removed the coffee cup out of the hand and carefully wrapped the damp cloth over my hand and I hissed in pain as the pain finally came, shooting up my arm and into my fingers. I closed my eyes, holding back tears.
“Don’t worry about the shirt, I always carry a spare shirt in my car. I would advise that you get that hand seen to. The burn looks nasty. This doctor is just around the corner and he should be able to help you.”
He handed Isabelle a business card and just a quick as the actual small encounter between us had happened, was he out of the door and out of sight. I blinked a couple of times before turning to look at Isabelle. Her mouth agape and in shock. I breathe out and turned to apologise to the elderly lady who was busy mopping up the coffee. She had already handed Isabelle three more cups of coffee.
“Oh, don’t worry darling, these things happen. And sometimes these things can lead to more than just a single encounter.” She smiled and winked before waddling back to the coffee station to take more orders. I had no idea what she was referring to, but I wasn’t going to let this little embarrassing moment ruin my day.
I turned to Isabelle as she opened the door, letting in the cold air. She held the door open for me as I walked out. She picked up the big box of coffees and hot chocolates, just as the door was about to close, I heard the little elderly lady shout, “I hope to see you here soon darling.”
What in the world just happened?

*I don't own the pictures*
It was always when she was in her most fragile and delicate state, that most people decided to leave her. She always tried her best to help others. Always giving her all to people in need. Yet when she was in the one in need, there was no one. Not a single person. Not a living soul.
She didn’t know how to deal with the constant ache in her chest. Not only had she witnessed one of the worst things a person could possibly witness, she didn’t have anyone to catch her as she was slowly fading into the deep pit of sadness. She couldn’t understand it. Why had everyone left her? Why did he have to leave? He was her only standing pillar. The one thing that gave her the will to continue, he gave her the will of life.
The only thing that made any sort of noise in the remains of her bedroom, was the steady ticks of the clock on the wall. She sat below her bed, knees cradled to her chest. Eyes as watery as the ocean. No one came. No one knocked. It was silent. Deadly silent. Her life, her memories and her will flashed before her eyes, as her small bedroom filled with all her past happiest memories. The time when she went to the beach with her friends, walking along a romantically lit pathway in the middle of the forest with him. The time her parents bought her a puppy and the happy memory of her grandfather before he gave into the hands of death. The look in his eyes flashed before her eyes, causing her to feel a heavy burden weighing down her heart.
Yet, here she sat, no family, no friends to aid her aching heart in this time of need. She just didn’t understand what she had done to deserve this. Not only had she lost her grandfather, someone who she loved dearly, she had also lost the person she learned that she loved the most. He left without a reason and without even saying the simplest of goodbyes. He just disappeared into the night.
Slowly lifting her eyes from her knees, she barely whispered, “I wish you were here.” She couldn’t get rid of the pain. Only he could get rid of her pain. But he wasn’t there. And he wouldn’t ever be there.
It was silent, quiet and calm. Calming enough to send her into a state of slumber. Just before she drifted off into her nightmare ridden dream she whispered, “Maybe, it is my time too.”
Her eyes closed and her heart rate decreased until she was in a peaceful state. Her head resting on a feather pillow and her heart in the hands of her grandfather. Her whole body finally felt at ease and weightless. Her mind had settled and her heart had calmed to the point where she was sleeping in a dreamless state.
The last thing she heard before falling into the deep was the soft voice next to her saying, “Stay for me.”
In a state of bliss and happiness, she sat on a white chiselled bench. Listening to the peaceful sounds of the waves hitting the shore. She sat alone for a while, before someone sat down on the bench next to her. Looking over, her eyes landed on the man dressed in white. The man who she loved so dearly. He looked happy and healthy, the way he always wanted to be remembered. His presence only consumed her in love and happiness. His voice had yet to leave his lips, yet no words needed to be shared between the two.
“My dear, don’t cry. You have so much to live for. You have to walk on the beach at sunrise, you have to write a love letter for your loved one. You have to be happy and live your life for me. I will always be with you. I will never leave your side, I am forever your guardian angel.” His voice, velvety smooth whispered against the winds.
“But, everything I’ve ever loved has now gone. He is gone and you. You’ve gone. I just don’t think I can let you go. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.” She replied softly.
“My dear, nothing has gone. I will always be by your side. You are strong and you will make it through this. Just remember that I love you and I will always be walking right beside you. This isn’t the last time we will see each other again. But you must wake up and that way, you can open your eyes to spring. There is a new start, a new season waiting for you.” He placed a kiss to her forehead and he gave her a small smile.
With his last word, his whole presence faded into the wind, and her surroundings started to disappear and then the world was silent. “This isn’t the end. We will meet again.” Echoed throughout the darkness.
She woke with a shaky gasp, cradled in the arms of someone. Their hands tightly held onto hers. Their heartbeat echoed in her ear. She lifted her head, and there he was. Sleeping with his head rested on hers. She reached up to touch his face. It was real, he really was there. She glanced around the room and saw that there was no more glass on the floor, no more debris or damage.
She glanced back at him. Only to meet his beautiful eyes. “Is it really you?” she asked.  He nodded. “Why did you leave me?”
He looked away. Ashamed. Sad. Angry with himself.
“You left me, when I needed you the most.” He nodded and said, “But now, I’m never going to leave you. I’ve always had feelings for you. I’ve just been too afraid to say anything and I left because I though that maybe you didn’t need me anymore but I was so wrong and I regret that decision and I wish I could take it back. But I cant and I’m willing to make up for it until the day I die.”
She closed her eyes, and her grandfathers words echoed in her mind, “Let spring consume you, let the new beginning open your heart. We will meet again but take the hand of spring and move forward from winter.”
And that is exactly what she did, by taking his hand, he led her into spring where the cold touch of winter couldn’t pierce her heart with the heart ache any longer. Her heart was finally at peace.
And just as he promised, her grandfather walked beside her into Spring.
