I learned about Waveya in an odd way. I was watching the news one day in 2011 and a few news anchors were joking around and made a comment about something called Gangnam Style. I thought it was a reference to American Hip-hop. I looked it up. Instead of finding something about Hip-hop, or even the video by Korean rapper Psy, I found a video with.... you guessed it, sexy dancing Korean girls. 😮😜. Come to find out, their cover dance had millions of views; To date, almost 165,000,000 views. Waveya introduced me to K-pop, a genre I never otherwise would have explored. Now I am a fan of BTS, Hyuna, 2ne1, Big Bang, Monsta X, AOA, Beast, Sistar, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, Boa, Ring Ding Dong, and Exid among others. They also dance to Beyonce, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, and others. I had gotten to the point in my life that I wasn't interested in discovering new music. Now I know K-pop is taking the world by storm. Korea seems to now have something we have lost: a very lucrative music video industry and a multi-billion dollar music machine that just keeps going. Waveya has come to the United States a few times, to Texas.
