by your side every step of the way thru your recovery (at a distance). would come over every morning to make you breakfast, make sure you eat a good lunch, then bring over dinner before he stays over. you tell him he doesn't need to do all of this, but who is he to not help the person he loves? would come over during his breaks to check your temperature, make sure you're feeling ok and getting the rest you need. the days he can't stay over with you, he waits until you're asleep before placing a kiss on your forehead and heading home.

knows better than to not get himself sick because of you. would tell you to stay over at his house and use the spare bedroom until you're better, with the cats being there for comfort as a bonus. would come home with groceries for the week of things that you would need to get better. would sit next to you holding your hand on the side of your bed until you fell asleep everyday, placing a kiss on your hand when you went to bed.

feels bad because of his busy schedule that he can't be there with you. calls you every moment he gets, just to see how you're doing. you tell him not to send you anything, but he just has to. he doordashes you food, heating pads, drinks, anything you need. you'll bring up something very vaguely and the next day it'll show up at your doorstep. at the end of his week, he'll cancel all weekend plans to go visit you.

if it was any of his members that got sick and wanted him to help, he would think that it was a joke. but xiaojun has a soft spot for you. "what does my baby need to feel better?" he would ask when he came over, placing the back of his palm over your forehead, eyes widening when he feels how hot you are (although, some of that redness was how your face heated up when he called you baby.) i feel like he would try to keep a distance, but fail at it. he would miss you too much, wondering what you were doing wile you were sick and he was at work.

would text you throughout the day to make sure you're alive (for some reason he thinks you're gonna die if he doesn't text you every 10 mins). try to cheer you up with his little jokes throughout the day. he wouldn't know what to get you, not wanting to get the wrong thing. you laugh and tell him what you need, and he brings it over after work.

would probably joke around how he can't be near you because you're icky and would get him sick. when your cold doesn't wear off in 2 days, he'd show up at your door with all the essentials you need to feel better, joking about how you should stay away from him when you try to hug him. a week goes by and he's starting to miss you, giving into you being isolated from him and risking getting sick just so he can be with you, he missed being in bed cuddling you.

but, there was a whisper against the wind. the monarch's reign would soon come to fall — the reapers alongside. sector one would no longer prosper off the graves of its people. the walls would crumble as the old habits died. all it would take was eight pirates and one so-called princess to overthrow reality and start a revolution where everyone could be anyone.

there weren't mercenaries anymore, just a new world. and, all you had to do was step into it.
