working in basically the only italian place that does pizza in a resort town in the south is variations of:

What do you mean the wait is that long for take out? Ugh I forgot this is the SOUTH. Everything is so slow in the SOUTH (bc southern restaurants purposely go slow and not because we are just that busy.)

Or! For ma woman who’s clearly from NJ and not fucking ny say: oh this wouldn’t do up north! Oh this would NEVER FLY in MANHATTAN! this is terrible business practice! If you need a second pizza oven or second phone line just do that! Get it! You’ll never survive if you don’t

#p #these interactions happened within 10 minutes of each other tonight #AJD in between I had a family from Brooklyn tell me they were impressed and surprised at how good it was bc their bar is so high #we’re still under staffed and our pizza guys are working nonstop it’s insane #also like I’m from Philly and my dad/stepmom have lived in Brooklyn for 12 years I know what it’s like #but you can 100% tell we’re not the corner pizza shops it’s a fucking Italian restaurant and our pizza side has been insane bc of covid #like sorry we are busy and cannot help that we have notices on all of our online presences that volume has been extraordinarily high #the second woman who was like this would never fly in Manhattan was so upset and in a huff and the owner was with me just smiling #bevae like she’s mad she has to wait 2 hours for takeout which yeah sucks but the reason it’s that long is hc we’re fucking busy lime we’re #it’s just funny!!! most people get that we’re busy and everyone’s working very hard but the peoole who don’t get it just don’t get it #sorry for the f&b rants it’s gonna be a long summer
