Same Old Old Thing for the New New Year
Happy New Year! Wub-Fur Internet Radio (now in our 25th year of intermittent internet webcasting) is still up to the same OLD tricks, launching a NEW offensive in the neverending war against nostalgia with this wonderful NEW mix of excellent NEW music for the NEW year. Featuring contributions from Class, Fucked Up, Dream Wife, Tyvek, Protomartyr, Priors, Marnie Stern, Woolen Men, and 13 more cool bands who, like birds tangled up in wires, are trying in their own ways to be free.
No birds or wires were harmed in the making of our cover art (which was created with the Artificial Intelligence which now inhabits Adobe Photoshop). Apologies to the late Leonard Cohen.

Child Abuse and Neglect Analysis The placement agency that I am personally affiliated with is Operation Safehouse which is a transitional living facility for at risk homeless youth ages eighteen to twenty one. There are two primary locations. One is in Riverside, CA and the other is in Thousand Palms, CA (SafeHouse, N.d.). Both locations offer services that include offer education, employment, case management, therapy, and life skills for our clients that have entered into our program. It is extremely likely that a high percentage of the individuals who enter into the program have encountered abuse or neglect at some point in their development or recent past. I would personally estimate that roughly one-half to three-fourths of clients meet the criteria for abuse and neglect. Most of these individuals come from environments that are too toxic for them to stay so they seek help from outside resources. For many of these individuals, the transition into a treatment or counseling program can be difficult and many are hesitant to leave an abusive relationship even if there is help available. This analysis will look at three different types of organizations that offer similar or complementary service for abused or neglected adolescents. The Future of Children The Future of Children is a collaboration of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and the Brookings Institution and the mission of the Future of Children is to translate the best social science research about children and youth into information that is useful to policymakers, practitioners, grant-makers, advocates, the media, and students of public policy (The Future of Children, N.d.). The special target area for the organization actually focuses on the dissemination of information. The organization publishes at least two journal articles a year and attempts to keep any technical rhetoric out of these so that the research presented is more accessible to a broader audience. The organization's main route in which they disseminate information is undoubtedly through their website. On the site there are links that allow the user to access all of the different publications that have been produced by the organization over the years. The topics of these publications range greatly from military children and families to postsecondary education to children with disabilities among others. The only clear link between these topics is that they focus on childhood development through adolescence and cover a broad array of topics on these research areas. There are also webcasts and other resources that are made available to users. Child Trauma Academy CTA is a not-for-profit organization based in Houston, Texas working to improve the lives of high-risk children through direct service, research and education (Academy, N.d.). The organization believes that there is a crucial importance of childhood experience in shaping the health of the individual, and ultimately, society and furthermore, by creating biologically-informed child and family respectful practice, programs and policy, CTA seeks to help maltreated and traumatized children. A major activity of the CTA is to translate emerging findings about the human brain and child development into practical implications for the ways we nurture, protect, enrich, educate and heal children. The "translational neuroscience" work of the CTA has resulted in a range of innovative programs in therapeutic, child protection and educational systems (CTA, N.d.). The work that the CTA conducts seems to be geared towards more of an academic and/or high level practitioner audience. They have many resources available that focus on physical, biological, and neurological changes in a child's body that occur due to abuse and neglect. Understanding the mechanistic changes that occur in a body can ultimately help practitioners design interventions that work on several different levels. The physical changes that occur in a child as the result of abuse or neglect are often a factor that are not considered by most child advocates and this specific research area may provide many insights that can help programs improve the quality of services that they offer their clients. The Kempe Foundation The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect has been recognized as a world leader in child abuse treatment and prevention programs for over forty years (Kempe Foundation, N.d.). The organization is headquartered on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado and is directed by some of the nation's leading experts. The Kempe Center is known for developing innovative programs that treat abused and neglected children and their families (from birth to age 18), train professionals and research treatment methods to help and heal the most children. One of Kempe's focus areas is on training and in 2012 Kempe Trained and educated 8,643 professionals with 26,010 "people training hours" provided. These were direct contact presentations at workshops, university classes, job sites, community locations, and national and international conferences (Kempe Foundation, N.d.). The Kempe Foundation's mission is to increase awareness, engage in advocacy, and secure and provide resources for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect (Kempe Foundation, N.d.). Conclusion There are many organizations world-wide that are acting as advocates to children in regard to abuse and neglect and attempting to mitigate the worst effects of these issues to children in the most effective way possible. The range of assistance to children and adolescents occurs on a wide spectrum from research to shelter and counseling. Although the field is somewhat fragmented, there are many opportunities for better coordination and cooperation in the field. As the scientific understanding of abuse and neglect on children and adolescence increases rapidly, including physical aspects, this will ultimately lead to more effective interventions from practitioners. STROKE Insights from Neuroscientist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor from THE EMBC TV NETWORK on Vimeo.
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist whose research specialized in understanding how our brain creates our perception of reality. She was interested in this subject because she has a brother who is diagnosed with the brain disorder schizophrenia.
As irony would have it, in 1996 at the age of 37, Dr. Jill experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain. On the afternoon of this rare form of stroke (AVM), she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. It took eight years for Dr. Jill to completely rebuild her brain to recover all physical, emotional, and thinking abilities.
Dr. Jill is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey (published in 2008 by Viking Penguin), which is still often the #1 book about STROKE sold in the Amazon marketplace. In addition, her second book WHOLE BRAIN LIVING: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life was published in May of 2021 by Hay House and is now readily available.
In 2008, Dr. Jill gave a presentation about her experience with stroke at the TED Conference in Monterey, CA, which was the first TED talk to ever go viral through the internet. TED and Dr. Jill became world-famous instantaneously and that TED talk has now been viewed well over 27.5 million times. This 18-minute presentation catapulted Dr. Jill into the public eye, and within six weeks of presenting that TED talk, she was chosen as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, she was the premiere guest on Oprah’s Soul Series webcast, and her book My Stroke of Insight became a New York Times bestseller and remained on the list for 63 weeks.
Dr. Jill is passionate about educating the public about the beauty of our human brain, and she is committed to not only helping others find their way back from neurological trauma but is eager to help everyone better understand their brain so they can live their best life. Her Foundation Jill Bolte Taylor BRAINS is dedicated to providing educational services and promoting programs that are related to the advancement of brain awareness, appreciation, exploration, education, injury prevention, neurological recovery, and the value of movement on mental and physical health, as well as other activities that support this purpose.
Dr. Jill remains the National Spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center (Harvard Brain Bank), whereby she educates the public about the shortage of brain tissue donated for research into the severe mental illnesses. Since 1993, she has been an active member of NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), by serving for three years on the National NAMI Board of Directions and later spent over ten years as the president of the local level NAMI Greater Bloomington Area affiliate in Bloomington, Indiana.

I guess this is unconfirmed until the band lists it. Neil emails me a link from brooklynvegan (and SPIN confirms) that YLT will be playing the Prospect Park Bandshell once again this year, on Thursday, July 13. Thanks to Kanzan for making this one available. Yo La Tengo, The Knitting Factory, NYC October 5, 1991.

The following torrent is now available at :
Brandon and yltfan have been blasting Dimeadozen with Hanukkah torrents Check out the carnage.
This is an hour long show with DJ performing three songs with YLT, including the performance of Speeding Motorcycle from the "Here Comes My Baby" EP and G+L=YLT.
Now available at WFMU is Daniel Johnston's call-in appearance on The Music Faucet show on February 4, 1990.
The band will be playing the Montalvo Center for the Arts in Saratoga CA on August 13 as part of the Bleeding Edge Festival.
The band has finally released the best of WFMU fundraising marathon CD aptly titled Yo La Tengo is Murdering the Classics.

The band will be appearing on the May 9 airing of Gilmore Girls as a band auditioning to be Neil Young's opening act.
Expect a new Yo La Tengo release this September.
You may notice most links on this page don't work, I'm still working on that. Sunsquashed is back up and my email is working - if something has bounced in the past week, please re-send it. But my advice is never, ever, ever do business with webhostplus or. The details are lengthy and not worth rehashing (you can read all about it here if you have the stomach for it). Sunsquashed has been down for a week due to a total lack of competence of 's part (AKA webhostplus AKA my ex-webhoster). Like Deja Vu All Over Again (Happy Birthday Yogi) My tradelist, the complete list of setlists, and the discography are back up for those seeking them.

I'm assuming it will be on their webcast as well. YLT will be on KEXP in Seattle on at 3PM (assuming Pacific time). I've listened to this interview, and it's excellent. The streaming interview is available here. James McNew is interviewed at Iceberg Radio. The interview/performance starts a minute or so in. The Oct 24 KEXP show mentioned below is available right here. Was the refusal of the cast of "The Times They AreĪ-Changin'" to take part the last straw? Really, is there anything to Just wouldn't be able to put together a lineup as Hanukkahriffic as We have concluded that our touring schedule is such we Reluctantly decided not to play the eight nights of Hanukkah this yearĪt Maxwell's. Ironically, that cover song is way better than anything off of this disastrous release. In answer to the most FA'd Q of the last few months, we have You get three CDs, including Acid Eaters and Mondo Bizarro, which has their cover of the Spider-man theme song. And if you're a completist who has to buy all the Ramones releases, get The Chrysalis Years. Buy any other Ramones album other than this one. Unsurprisingly, there is not one song from Acid Eaters on that, which should hopefully tell you something. The compilation Hey! Ho! Let's Go: The Anthology is a very good look at most of the Ramones' material. Even with that they still sound like a good opening band, definitely not the powerful being that was the Ramones. My favorite track on this was "I Can't Control Myself," as the whole production was wonderfully amazing. The closest thing to bubblegum here is "Surf City " by the time I got that far I had grown tired of listening (I was bored through the whole thing). The high point in Joey's vocals is the cover of "Substitute" by the Who, an OK cover, but not great. They sound like a crappy cover band trying to make a few bucks. Actually, on all the songs he sounds tired and lackluster and the whole band seems pretty bored and uncreative. The notable power chord sounds we have expected from the Ramones are finally emerging. "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" is an exception. One problem with Acid Eaters is the production, the guitar was too low and in the background on most songs. These songs sounded great when played in the Ramones' punk fashion. They have done great cover songs before Acid Eaters like "Let's Dance," "California Sun" "Do You Wanna Dance?" and "Palisades Park," which were 60s bubblegum pop songs, not hippy tunes. But this album of '60s psychedelic cover songs was the worst thing in their 22-year career. The Ramones are one of my favorite bands.

Video ADS

What is video advertising? Video ads are the most effective marketing campaign type in 2022. They bring consumers to your website, help you increase brand awareness and sales, and even boost customer retention. With a lot of competition for consumers’ attention – from social media influencers, TikTok fame kids, digital celebrities – they have never been more relevant and important in our world.
Video advertising campaigns provide the greatest ROI for any product or service, with the exception of travel, which requires additional investment, especially if you’re targeting customers outside Europe. To see some examples of the best video ad campaigns, check out this guide with a list of the top videos from various platforms on YouTube for ideas on creating new content and leveraging them. Video Ad Tips 1) Understand how you can leverage video advertising The video that made headlines across the globe showed viewers a man carrying his guitar as he played Rock and Roll live on stage at an outdoor amphitheatre in L.A., USA. It was hosted by Justin Bieber, who was also featured in another highly popular video about music-related lyrics. This is one example of a well-received and engaged audience reacting positively to a creative campaign. 2) Choose the right keywords based on target audiences When deciding how to market yourself through video advertising, look to identify who and what type of user you want to reach. The types of videos that will make you the most money will be different depending on the type of user you’re reaching. For instance, if you’re selling products online, you should focus on people who will shop online for your services, such as shoppers looking for fashion deals or other items. A good rule of thumb is to keep your audience niche-specific and specific. When it comes to paid posts, use both traditional and digital formats. Traditional advertising involves running advertisements on TV, radio, and billboards while webcasts offer interactive videos to attract your email subscribers and followers. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on traditional forms of advertising.
3) Don’t forget to test different campaigns You may not know how many times the same campaign might work in different ways. Consumers should try out different types of video ads before spending their hard-earned money. Try testing multiple versions of the same video and then compare the results. Most importantly, remember that many brands will run similar ad campaigns in the future as their products are constantly evolving. So, if you launch too many different variations of the
same ad campaign, you risk upsetting your existing fans. Always start small and experiment until you find what works! 4) Set budgets and stick to them When setting up your budget, give consumers plenty to choose from when it comes to video ad campaigns. Use your cash wisely so that you don’t wind up losing money because you did everything wrong. Look at all the data you have from every client and make sure you don’t go overboard. Every campaign has its pros and cons, so use your knowledge of the most successful strategies and create new ones. If you are unsure where to begin, research shows that starting small is better than overspending. If possible, pay someone to help estimate how much time and resources you will need to complete your projects. 5) Leverage your networks A great way to get clients and potential customers is to partner with websites, online stores, affiliate programs, and associations like the American Heart Association, Women for Women International, National Volunteer Corps, etc. These places hold valuable tools for finding new leads and promoting your company on behalf of your own brand. But without working closely with these organizations, your efforts don’t matter. By partnering with reputable organizations, businesses become part of a community and gain access to valuable information. You’ll be able to share key insights that no one else has and can grow your credibility and business. Video Advertising Tactics You Should Know About Creative video campaigns are essential to success today. As we mentioned above, there are two main types of posts that will perform well if used properly: professional content, and social videos. Both are equally viable but require different tactics and investments. Content-focused campaigns allow you to focus on just creating interesting information that attracts readers and followers. Social videos, on the other hand, allow you to engage an already engaged audience by allowing them to interact with you through the creation, editing, sharing, and posting of videos. Creating engaging content and making your videos entertaining will do wonders for your brand and boost traffic to your website and social channels. Make sure you're using only quality material, following the rules and guidelines put forth by your publisher or distributor, and ensuring that your video isn't edited and/or censored.
