The Sims 4: New Hairstyles Coming In Upcoming SDX
For upcoming SDX drop, The Sims has collaborated with DeeSims to create two stunning, natural hairstyles, Bantu knots and two strand twists, that are fit for any occasion. Both are protective, staple styles originated and worn by the Black community.
Interviews with Deesims:
DeeSims has had a love for The Sims™ from a very young age. As a dedicated Simmer, YouTuber, and content creator, she knows no bounds when it comes to storytelling within The Sims™ 4.
It is Simmers like DeeSims that continue to spark us, and we wouldn’t be us without YOU! As part of our ongoing You Make The Sims series, we’re continuing to spotlight creators across the world who inspire us and the game we make.
We sat down and spoke with DeeSims about the importance of this addition to the game, her inspiration for the styles, and how they will enhance the Create-A-Sim (CAS) experience for Simmers.
When we connected with you on this collaboration opportunity back in June and you started to research what hairstyle you wanted to see in game, did you have a specific goal in mind?
My goal was representation! I knew I wanted to create more textured hairstyles for the game. I wanted to embrace curly and textured hair patterns with day to day hairstyles and to create styles that are common in the Black community, so more and more Simmers could continue to see themselves in The Sims 4!
What made you decide on the Bantu knots and two strand twists hairstyles for your collaboration? Did you have specific inspiration?
I had so much inspiration! It was truly hard to decide which path I wanted to take because there are so many amazing hairstyles that stem from the Black community. But once plans were in motion, it was clear that the Bantu Knots and Two Strand twist hairstyles were perfect for my vision!
How does it feel to have collaborated on two hairstyle pieces being added to The Sims 4? It's so surreal! I love The Sims and the franchise! I’ve been playing The Sims since I was very young. I promise you, as a young kid, I never would have thought I would one day create something that would be added to the game. It feels good to contribute to a game that has had a huge impact on my life!
What value do these two hairstyles add to The Sims 4 in your opinion? I believe they hold a great value! The hairs are detailed with features that Simmers take into account. So much time and research went into this project, and those little details matter. I wanted to make sure that every feature was well thought out and implemented. For that, and that the hairs are so freaking cute, I believe the Simming Community will embrace them!
Which hair color swatches are you most excited to see the community style? I am excited for the purple hair swatch of the Bantu Knots! Purple is my favorite color. I’m also excited about the roots of the hair; the rich colored hair swatches have slightly darker roots with the Bantu knots. It has a realistic feel to it which was very important to me when creating these hairstyles!
What’s something new you learned about hair in the process of designing hairstyles for The Sims? I learned about hair budgeting. To stay true to the character design of the game, there are certain things you have to take into account when creating hairs - the length, the texture, the bump outs, the curves…they all play a part in creating a style. You have to account for clothing or objects that interact with the hair and how it would all pan out with your idea. It was very rewarding to see my ideas come to life! It was a great experience and I truly learned a lot!
How do you see people using these hairstyles in the game/how would you style Sims with these hairstyles? The hairstyles are versatile! They can be used on any occasion - from a wedding, to a party, to makeover for your mid-life crisis, the options are limitless. I honestly see Simmers using these hairstyles casually in their day to day looks…that’s exactly what I’m going to do!
The two Create-A-Sim items by DeeSims will be available beginning 11/17 in The Sims 4 on PC via EA app, Mac® via Origin, Steam®, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One systems.

I'll keep that all in mind, thanks!
Unfortunately when I say I have to reference it for plot reasons that was genuine, the thing that requires it is so small yet so narratively important that I can't just completely cut it out. Nor can I consult you cause the context is literally the biggest spoiler of this entire story. (I know that explanation sounds bad without context but please trust me it's not nearly as bad as it sounds ;-;)
Luckily I've already thought up some alternatives to put it in the far background. I'll definitely rework it alot though. Thanks for the advice! :D
I mean... Again, since you're remaking Angie's background story, I really recommend thinking long and hard about the inclusion of any blood ritual in her culture, and if it's actually so important to the plot that you can't come up with something else, like the newly weds gifting each other their most precious items instead. Something so important that it attaches to their very soul. Something like that. Or, you can look up native Hawaiian traditions regarding the union of two people. That sort of thing.
You are in total control of your story. You aren't trapped by the narrative or are helpless to it. You are the author, making the decisions. You essentially a god of your own story, and you can do with it whatever you please. This single detail of a blood ritual--it's probably not as important to your story as you think it is. It can, and should, be reworked and erased for this context. You should always rework a problematic aspect of your story, no matter how integral you think it is to the plot.
For example: When I first made my OC, Jaden, I gave him the wrong hair texture for a black character. I gave him 3A-3B curls, because I was mistaken and believed that any race could have any hair texture and that hair texture wasn't necessarily a "race" thing (for context, I grew up with a very White cousin who had coily/Afro hair (and no it wasn't a perm, her hair was just really curly and coily despite being white as hell), and often saw black girls with straightened hair in school with most black boys and men shaving their heads. I've since learned from this, but it happens.)
I was later corrected by my partner, Celest, and I immediately jumped to defend the hairstyle design I chose. I had convinced myself it was important to his character to have these kinds of curls, even to the point where when I "gave in" and gave him the right texture, I insisted he straightened it and styled it the same.
However, I knew I was kidding myself and that the hair style wasn't really a "queer effeminate black man curling his hair" thing. It was me being attached to a natural hair style that was just not for a black character like him.
So, I finally changed it. And you know what happened?
Nothing.
The hair style for Jaden was FAR more inconsequential than I had ever imagined it to be. Literally did nothing to the story to change up his hair from curls to twists. From there, I've messed around with other Afro hair styles for him (like rag curls and giving him an Afro puff when he's older), and it helped me grow as an artist, a writer, and a character designer to overcome that initial stage of "Oh no, this problematic aspect of my story/character design is too important to edit out, it needs to stay!"
I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but it is something that you REALLY need to think long and hard about. I'm assuming by your last paragraph that you might have something else in mind, but I thought that this really needs to be said as well.

This applies to both straight and curly hair, whether long, short, or medium. Sometimes brides-to-be are hesitant to cut their hair before the wedding, but it is necessary to achieve a great hairstyle and maintain the shape of your hair. Bridal hairstyle ideas for wedding and pre-wedding ceremonies
Tumblr media
From ‘do this’ to ‘don’t do this’, you get uncountable ‘gyaans’ from the chachis and masis for your wedding and pre-wedding ceremonies. One target area that receives the maximum ‘gyaan’ is your hair, especially if you have coloured or treated hair. No wonder, your messy bun looks messier a few days before the wedding. But, there’s a hidden beauty behind that messy bun and frizzy hair. The eagerness to dress up for the wedding and pre-wedding ceremonies is surreal.
From traditional hairstyles to chic ones, there is fun in trying different hairstyles for the wedding ceremonies. While the cocktail night calls for soft curls, sangeet ceremony is all about a low bun with petals all around it. To make sure you get the perfect bridal hairstyle for your pre-wedding ceremonies and the wedding night, we have curated a list of hairstyles that will give the look you have dreamt of:
For the Haldi ceremony:
Haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding ritual where the bride along with bridesmaids, friends, parents, and relatives dress up in yellow-coloured attires. From yellow lehenga to yellow saree and dhoti, there are shades of yellow everywhere. Brides, pair up your Haldi costume with loose open curls, a French braid woven into a ponytail, or a chic bridal updo. If you want to have a simple traditional look, try out the side-part low bun hairstyle. This goes best with a yellow saree and a red bindi.

For the sangeet and Mehendi evening
Mehendi and sangeet ceremony is more about flowers and floral decorations. So, your hairstyle for this pre-wedding event is incomplete without floral hair accessories. If you have long hair and want to flaunt it, go for a long fishtail braid or a messy braid. Add mogras or other floral hair accessories to complete the look. Another trendsetter for the ceremony is a bun. It is ideal for both curly and straight hair. Wear a floral tiara to highlight the simple and traditional bun and ace it like a queen.

For the cocktail night
Have long hair? The modern cocktail party hairstyle with open waves or side-swept curls paired with a bright gorgeous outfit will worth a million-dollar look. You can try curling your hair towards the bottom and leave them open without any hair accessories. Have short or middle length hair? Blow drying or making big voluminous curls, depending on the thickness of the hair, will give the perfect cocktail look. With this, leave your fringes to one side and slay it like a princess.
For the morning rituals of the wedding day
A traditional hairstyle never goes out of fashion. A bridal bun studded with real flowers lends a magical charm to your makeup. But if you want to reserve the bun bridal hairstyle for the evening, just add little drama to your normal hair with crimps or soft curls. Want a twisted hairdo for the wedding day morning? Get bridal hairstyles like Bohemian braided bun, classic bun with a braided updo or a half loop braid to look ravishing.
 The final evening
The moment of the out-of-the-world look has arrived. All the grace of the world will shower upon you as you wear the gorgeous lehenga or sari and the resplendent jewellery. Choose an Indian bridal hairstyle that is in sync with your makeup and wedding attire. A middle-parted bun decorated with a myriad of flowers is the most classic hairstyle that goes almost with all attires. Want to experiment more with buns? A big braided bun with gajras, a curly bun studded with arched red roses, double-braid crown with a bun or a heavy braided bun with multicolour flowers studded all over are some great bridal hairstyles for the wedding night.
Tumblr media
The Reception party A casual look does the talking at the reception party. Go for a messy bridal updo with flowers studded from below. Want to keep it minimalistic? Try loose curls or long waves with a middle part. Wear a maang tika to finish the look. Add on some baby braids to the curls to enhance the look. Side-swept curls with hair accessories is another fabulous bridal hairstyle for your wedding reception.
Choose your bridal hairstyles according to the wedding and pre-wedding outfits. A perfect wedding hairstyle might look imperfect if it doesn’t match with makeup and outfits. Look for a hairstylist who knows all hairstyles for Indian wedding reception well and can confidently give that dreamy look.

Things You Ought To Know About Bridal Hairstyling
Girls are generally particular with their hair. As most people say, hair is one's crowning glory. It can either make or break one's look or appearance. Hence, dealing with hairstyles may be quite difficult at times especially when you are to be on a special occasion. Particularly, if you are a bride-to-be, as you are spending much time with your bridal dress, entourage, the settings and buffet, maybe you should also be particular with hairstyling. makeup artist
Basically, when it comes to bridal hairstyling, the actual hair do for each bride depends on the length of her hair. For women with short hair, you may add head highlights to make your hair stand out and appear longer and sassy. Curls are also advised as they create instant hair body illusion. For those with medium length hairs, there is a wide array of bridal hair dos to choose from. You may have a mass of curls on top or simple have it down. You may also have braids hanging from the back of your veil. For an elegant look, French braids and twists may be done. A pulled back hair so with some wisps of hair hanging down may create a sexy look. Conventionally, you may also opt to have a simple up do hairstyle accentuated by a head piece. Lastly, for women with long hairs, the options are not as vast as with medium length hairs. However, there are still options to choose from. You may either have it straight down or curly. Others want it be wrapped in a bun, a braided bun or in a classic beehive style. Braids and twists may also be done to enhance your facial features. For all these types, other the hair length, one should also choose a hairstyle that will blend well with your face, your dress and your man. A consultation to an expert hairstylist for some hairstyling tips and guidelines is also recommended. makeup artist singapore
When it comes to hiring a hairstyling expert, you must be particular with some points. As these artists are knowledgeable and trained of what hair styles and hair pieces should fit the bride, one of the most basic thing to consider is the budget. The artists' credentials may speak for his/her service's price. With this, you may ask some credible friends and people for some referrals. Online searching may also be helpful. Next, it is important to emphasis that a hairstylist's performance is way different from the bride's satisfaction. This means that not all works will be favored with the bride. You may also ask for the artist's portfolio so you could have an idea of how he/she works and how the creations are. With this, necessary changes or adjustments may still be made without running much over the wedding details.

How To Choose The Best Bridal Makeup Services For Your Wedding
Choosing the best bridal makeup services in Jaipur for your wedding is a tough decision. There are many factors to consider when choosing the right makeup artist. The first factor to consider is whether you want someone who can do your makeup as well as hair, or just one of the two. Makeup artists that offer both services are more expensive, but they will save you time and money in the long run.
If you want someone who will do your hair and makeup for your wedding day, then it’s important that you find someone who has experience with weddings. If not, they might not know how to make your look more natural and less dramatic than what they would usually wear on a daily basis.
It’s also important to find out if they have experience with different skin tones and ethnicities because these details can make all the difference in the final product.
INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO FIND A BRIDAL MAKEUP SERVICE?   When it comes to makeup for your big day, you want the best. You want someone who is not only experienced, but knows how to make you feel like the most beautiful bride in the world. There are many different ways you can find a great makeup artist for your wedding day. The first step is to do some research and figure out what kind of look you're going for and what kind of services they offer. There are a lot of things to consider when looking for a service provider. You want someone who has experience with weddings, but also with your skin type and complexion. The second step is to reach out to potential providers and ask them about their experience and portfolio. This way, you'll get a better idea of their product quality before making any commitments or decisions on which service provider to hire. The third step is to ask for references and see if they've worked with other brides in the past. This can help you get a better idea of how they handle different personalities and types of weddings. Lastly, reaching out to friends and family members who have hired makeup artists in the past will give you a sense of what their experience was like.
HOW TO DO BRIDAL HAIR AND MAKEUP YOURSELF   Wedding hair and makeup is a time-consuming process. If you're hosting a wedding, you might not have the time to dedicate to doing your own hair and makeup. If you are on a budget, or just want to try something new, here are some tips on how to do your own wedding hair and make-up for a bride.
1) Prep Your Face
2) Start With Your Hair
3) Finish With Your Makeup
1) Prep Your Face : For the perfect wedding hairstyle, start by prepping your face. Remove your make-up with a cleanser and cotton pads, then take tissue and wipe off any leftover debris from the eyes. Dry your face with a towel before applying moisturizer for protection.
2) Start With Your Hair: When it comes to hair, you have many options. The hair of the bride might be curly or straight but for this tutorial I will be discussing straight hair . When applying your hair, start by securing a small section of hair into a low ponytail. Twist the ponytail and secure it with an elastic.
 3) Finish With Your Makeup: Apply your foundation first, then with a makeup sponge or brush apply your concealer under the eyes and over any blemish spots. Next, apply blush on the apples of your cheeks to give them some color and contour with bronzer (on hollows of the cheeks) and/or highlight with a bronzer and/or blush (on the forehead, chin, and tops of the cheekbones).5) Add Finish :Apply your lipstick. For a natural look, apply gloss on top of lipstick. For a more intense look, apply dark red lipstick and create an ombre lip with brown color liner. Apply your eyeshadow to complete the look!

Short natural hair twist styles
Tumblr media
SHORT NATURAL HAIR TWIST STYLES FREE
Making long and tiny Senegalese twist braids can be beautiful but at some point, they may cause inconvenience with their weight, as well as the fact that they prevent one from getting enough air. You can use a hair accessory to secure the ponytail as desired and then watch the lower portion of your hair stand up tall and straight. Just take out some locks in front and braid to the back, then gather up your whole hair and pack into a high ponytail. This is one style that you can use to spice up your medium-length dreadlocks. This style is not all about convenience though as it is also quite pretty, so you get comfort and class all in one style. The intricate braids also ensure that your scalp gets the amount of air it needs.

* Knowledgeable
* Uses her hands with gesticulation when talking

She rubs her forehead out of stress, concentration, or annoyance (depending on the situation and mood)
She has her parents irritability
She has a huge appetite (like her mother and grandma Sylvia 😂)
She hates being called the “s” word: stupid
She does tend to do her hair when in a stressful situation
She’s overemotional
She hates conflict and will step, timidly, away from the person who is angry with her
She’s allergic to crustaceans; anaphylactic only (oy, her poor mother 😂)
She possibly has ADHD and a mild depression (situational)
She does pamper herself couple times a day and shuts her compact mirror in similar fashion that her mother does
She hates being referred as the half sibling (again this would be under influence and being taught by her parents. The only time she would accept it is if it’s about legalisation and medical)
She can be a shopaholic (particularly when emotional)
She walks, without hesitation, into her father’s office without knocking on the door (unlike her twin brother 😂)
She definitely doesn’t like to study or do as she’s told and has poor grades
Note: BUT is clever enough to hide her grade from her parents and turn into an A+ to avoid any sort of disappointment from them particularly her father (😈)
Likes to prank on friends and family much to her twin’s chagrin (Jonah had, oftentimes, told her off for neglecting her schoolwork and the consequences of what would happen if she continued)
She dislikes her twin’s passion for bantering (because she thinks it’s bad enough their “cousin” does it to them 😂)
She isn’t good at singing
She has low blood pressure (but usually the smell of food wakes her up 😂)

Best Wedding Hairstyles for Off-the-Shoulder Wedding Dresses
You've chosen the wedding dress of your dreams and now it's time to find the perfect hairstyle to go with it. There is a wide variety of clothing options so it is a difficult decision between having your hair up or down, formal or informal, and whether your hair matches the neckline of your chosen wedding dress.
The choice of your wedding hairstyle is important and not only depends on what looks good on you, but it must also match your wedding dress and neckline. If you are so confused about what hairstyle is done on your beautiful wedding dress then the Best Makeup Artist help you to solve this confusion and give you the best for you.
If a bride is wearing a low-necked dress, she should avoid an updo, as it will reveal too much skin. There are many different types of necklines in wedding dresses, and a hairstyle that looks perfect for one neckline may not work well with another style. The ideal hairstyle for a wedding can make all the difference.
If you're looking for some ideas on how to style your hair to go with your off-the-shoulder wedding dress and your personal style, check out these gorgeous dresses and the equally gorgeous brides who really shine in them on their special day.
Twisted Updo Hairstyle
The updo style is the formal version of the on-trend 'messy bun' look. This glamorous style exudes a royal feel and elongates the neck. Depending on the style of your wedding, you can combine your hairstyle with flowers or headpieces, or simply leave it exposed with some loose locks for a more casual and romantic atmosphere. Having your collarbones and neck exposed can give your bridal look a special charm.
Half Up Half Down Wedding Hairstyle
Half-up, half-down hairstyles will always be in vogue. They are among brides' most preferred hairdos. This is a style that works for both brides with short and long hair who are looking for an updo with romantic curls and a polished glam of loose, wavy hair. You can braid your hair or style it in twists from your temples, and then accessorize to match your wedding's theme with hair crowns or more understated headpieces. Loose curls will complement an off-the-shoulder wedding dress and help draw the eye down as well as elongate the body.
Curly Layered Hairstyle for Off-Shoulder Dress
Opt for a relaxed curly hairstyle for off-the-shoulder dresses. Style layers and choose a grain-blonde ombre for your braids. Wear the bangs on one side and you will get a fabulous hairstyle for your wavy and curly hair.
Braided Hairstyle for an Off-the-Shoulder Dress
One of the best black hairstyles for off-the-shoulder dresses and tops is undoubtedly braids. Opt for corn braids, box braids, or whatever type of weave you fancy, and build a large bun on top of your head. It will lengthen your face and draw attention to your shoulders.
Mermaid Wedding Hairstyles
Known for being the most dramatic and glamorous of all wedding dress silhouettes, our mermaid dresses hug the body, waist and hips. They are the best dress to show the natural curve of your body. These dresses flare at or just below the knee area, imitating a mermaid tail. Let's be honest, who wouldn't love to feel like a mermaid on their wedding day?

Arvish
Here’s giant goat god, husband to Osmund!
| Name: Arvish
| Nicknames: Arv (only his husband is allowed to call him Arvy) or Vis
| Gender: He/Him, They/Them, or It/It’s (mostly mortals and the books used they/them or it/its and he loved both pronouns so he decided to use them as well)
| Age: Also old like Osmund really, centuries old essentially
| Height: 140ft
| Species/Race: Giant God God (he can also size shift)
| Hair Color: Dark Brown (Quiff Hairstyle)
| Eye Color: His eyes used to be Pitch Black (the colors of the eyes in this regard are KINDA lowkey symbolic? His eye color now Forest Green (you know he has them rectangular pupils) he has one scar over his right eye but he can still see out of it thankfully.
| Appearance: Let’s start off like we did with Osmund- Alrighty, his ears are the same p much as Osmund’s except the top is a brown color with white fur on the bottom, he’s got a brown goat tail with white fur on the bottom as well, his feet are hooves and he actually just has hands, his fingers for some reason have something that look like black ink smeared on them- it doesn’t come off either it just seems to be apart of his skin, he does have sharp black claws as well, he’s got horns but they are more like ram horns (got them BIGEM curly horns babey) he wears his wedding ring on his right horn actually (he isn’t afraid of it coming off, it’s not STUCK on there but it’s not just going to,, slip off or anything) BUT when he’s out and about for long periods of time he has a heart shaped rose quartz locket that he keeps it in and wears it around his neck (last I checked rose quartz symbolizes love, trust, and emotional healing)
His skin color? Well he’s honestly just tan- its from staying outside like 90% of the time lmao but given the nature of his world who WOULDN’T wanna stay outside in it (also bc i almost forgot, his beard is actually pretty fluffy looking and he also has sideburns- despite being a fluffy beard he manages to keep it looking well groomed as best he can ...never let the fluffy looks deceive you either, c o a r s e, coarse as hell) (also he’s got razor sharp teeth too, ...i-is he still a goat?)
Anyway- He wears one of those golden egyptian collars around his neck (mostly for Osmund who a d o r e s it), he doesn’t really wear a shirt or pants either, he has a long loincloth (it goes down his legs even, so it's kinda like a loincloth-dress esque thing?) he just didn’t feel comfortable with the short loincloths… He cut a little hole out in it so his tail could stick through as well, he has a bit of chest fluff, no its not hair its like ACTUAL fluff- He also has like a fuck TON of scars, there’s SO many scars all over his body, they don’t seem to be any fresh or new wounds they look like they happened a VERY long time ago…
He also has a few golden bracelets going up his wrists and some near his biceps as well.
| Personality: Well, let’s start with how he was in the past bc everyone loves remembering their past right? ...ahaaaa… Anyways- Arvish was a greedy power hungry god who’d do and say anything to get what he’d want, he’d manipulate a few other gods/goddesses here and there but the mortals? O h they were ALWAYS the easiest to manipulate, he was also hungry for wars, it didn’t matter what kind of war it was, when it came to war, he loved choosing the mortals over the other gods and goddesses because of them being easy to trick essentially, it was SO easy to start a war with them! Humans fight over the s m a l l e s t of things it would seem! And because of how much he loved war you know he was absolutely the leader in a few of his own, feuding with other gods/goddesses and mortals all the same, he l o v e d money as well, money was the key to power and succession it seemed, especially in the mortal world, money made it easier to control them.
He was definitely an EXTREME control freak, you either bowed to him or you defied him and defying him would definitely end in a painful death more than likely, he was p much evil, cruel, sadistic, and a very stinky bastard man essentially- He was downright awful ...And then some time later on in his life, he met Osmund, a peaceful warrior who’d only fight if he had to, it was definitely a cliche love at first sight type of thing but even then, Arvish tried to deny his feelings, he didn’t feel love or anything like that, love was NOT an option for a god like him, and love was a weakness, having feelings for something or someone had been considered a weakness! So naturally at first Arvish and Osmundus were into it, the two fought greatly against each other- The first battle Osmundus won and usually, he’d finish the job but when it came to Arvish…
Unlike most that crossed him and pushed him, he slowly lifted his sword away from the other god’s neck and told him to simply get out, don’t come back… Of course Arvish only mocked Osmund for showing m e r c y to one of his enemies, he should have finished the job bc this was definitely not the last he saw of Arvish, the two had MANY great fights and when Arvish finally won a fight, after he had beaten Osmundus finally, now it was time to finish him off so he couldn’t get in the way! (Cause Osmundus was one to stop him from his evil deeds, he was a divine protector after all) but… Arvish just… Couldn’t, the more the two interacted, albeit after fights, Osmundus even went as far as to offer him some tea and a sit down to read a book, after they JUST fought?! Osmundus always spared Arvish, he taught the god things even HE didn’t know…
...And that had all strengthened Arvish’s love for Osmundus, such a wise god… Arvish couldn’t bring himself to finish Osmund off, especially after the god had said “Well, you’ve finally won…! I’m impressed, you’ve grown stronger Arvish… ...Well, if you want to finish me off, I won’t stop you” which confused him greatly “I… What are you playing at you old fool…?” Os only chuckled “Nothing, I’m completely serious, if you wish to finally get me out of the picture, I’m not going to stop you… In fact…” He would have then took his sword and stuck it into the ground (not the black obsidian sword) and stuck it deep so even he probs couldn’t have even pulled it back up (its a landmark now p much) really, it was all the kind acts from Osmund that he had provided after every fight, the knowledge from books, the offerings of tea, and the kind words he spoke even after fighting so harshly that just eventually broke the power hungry god, he only offered a hand to Os “...Get up… I… I just can’t do it…”
Arvish even admitted as he helped Osmund to his feet, half on guard just in case this was still all a ruse to attack him unexpectedly “...You have shown me kindness even when we are the greatest of enemies, even the very first time when you had the chance to take my head, you didn’t… You spared me, you knew I would come back, you knew I would never have given up, so why…? Why didn’t you just take the opportunity to finish me off?” Osmund would only laugh at that “...Well, why didn’t YOU just take YOUR opportunity to finish me off? I even offered you to do so…” (damn, this turning into a fanfic isn’t it?) Arvish couldn’t deny, okay Os got him there and for the first time he laughed genuinely at that “...I don’t understand you at all you old fool… Such a strange soul…” after a bit though, Arvish was going to leave actually but Osmundus stopped him, placing a hand on his shoulder “Why don’t you come inside, Arvish? We can settle down for the night and talk with some tea…” Arvish was shocked by this, shocked that the other god would even offer this after the BIGGEST fight they had ever had just transpired but Arvish for whatever reason took it.
Alright this is going to be waay too long if I keep up fanfic format, so basically after the biggest fight, Arvish and Osmundus has called a truce at first, Arvish would eventually start coming over but not to start a fight, no… He was just visiting Osmundus, that feeling in his chest never left from day one, but it only got stronger as time passed, same for Os it seemed, Arvish got taught the beauty of nature, how peace could be a much stronger asset than wars, how greed and power would only leave you feeling empty in the end and it had been true, even despite how much treasures he had stolen at first, he never did feel truly happy or anything, it was just wanting more and more and nothing satisfied him, and even the mortals had… Such intriguing ways of living life, Osmundus taught him s o much… After all this, Arvish became a MUCH more peaceful, kind, gentle, caring, and sweet soul… Even though the books and things speak ill of him at first (some books had been twisted to keep him labelled as the bad guy) most books tell the WHOLE tale. Now of course after all this, Arvish had admitted eventually that he had fallen in love with Osmundus and this was the first time he was actually nervous… He figured the other god would take offense, laugh at, or even reject him entirely.
Of course that’s when Osmund let him in on a little secret, he’s felt that way the entire time as well, and that it only grew stronger as time passed, same ofc with Arv obvs- but ahem- anyways- Os accepted the confession and the two had went on dates, strengthening their bonds the more time they spent together, and eventually when the time was right, Arvish was the one to propose first actually, and that was the MOST nerve wracking moment of his entire existence, even though he had knew Osmund loved him v e r y much so and of course he loved him back immensely as much, there was still a secret fear of rejection… However, this led to the first time Osmundus ever cried, at first Arvish was nervous that he had offended the other god or upset him so he quickly apologized but before he could even say anything more, Osmundus pulled him into a tight bear hug “...Yes, Arvy, I’ll marry you…”
...And now it was Arv’s turn to cry, this also being the very first time HE ever shed a tear, and thus the two became husbands, and p much lived in peace and happiness.
I know that’s long and wordy but I had to describe this almost fully for anyone to TRULY understand Arvish, its basically literally the enemies to lovers trope, Arvish gave up his war, power, and greedy ways for Osmundus in the end, he could have taken the chance to end Osmundus so no one else could stand in his way then, not in those regards anyways but he just couldn’t do it, so yeye y’all get the basic point
| Side Facts: Arvish’s world used to be barren essentially, there used to be no signs of life there aside from him and whatever subjects he had, whatever minions he had, etc- But those were just there to serve him, there was no forests or any beautiful scenery… BUT since Arvish changed his ways, his world grew brighter, various plants, trees, flowers had began growing, wildlife had started appearing even! Many things happened to his world and it was no longer barren, now he has almost infinite forests and meadows spreading ALL across his world, one of the forests even have a LARGE lake (when I say barren, his world previously was literally just, d e a d looking, it was nothing but sand n sandstorms mostly, no sounds of life or anything could be heard and the silence would be enough to drive a human crazy excluding sand storm sounds n the sounds of a literal god and his minions BUT shhh! And despite not being any living creatures there WERE skulls of ones)
Arvish has a flower crown that had been made specifically for him, it seemed to have been designed by the other gods/goddesses and even some demigods, it was designed specifically for him, celebrating his change and growth into a better person, however… His sins and atrocities of the past still haunt and plague his mind to this day, everything he’s ever done and said still haunts him, and sometimes he wonders w h y… Why was he ever like that in the first place? Osmundus usually knows exactly what to say and do when he notices Arvish spiraling, which Arv is very thankful for… Arvish never expects forgiveness either from anyone he’s done wrong, and to the ones he has even killed, he regrets that d e e p l y, he wishes he had never been… t h a t kind of being… But, to the ones he’s done wrong to, like I was saying, he doesn’t ever expect forgiveness from them bc even though he’s changed, he really doesn’t feel he deserves it, he’s caused so much harm, so much pain, so many bad things and he’ll take those to the grave one day.
(catch that god of death character I made waaay back when fuckin cackling at this man lmao, i dont even know where I put those gods’ descriptions and now I really wanna find em again bc im makin’ gods/goddesses/demigods and a whole ass world for them all) Also one more thing, this is in reference to appearance back up there but im too lazy to have to fix the text movin down a page n shit, basically- he wears a silver nose ring AND his nose is also black like the his fingers (he does have a bit of darker brown going up it, its kinda another goat-like nose, it seems like it should be painted on, you’d think but in fact it’s genuinely just something on ‘im)

A Silmarillion fanfic for @feanorianweek 2020 – Day 4: Caranthir

Fascination
It is no grander occasion than a dinner at a friend's house that they are getting ready for, but Carnistir insists on doing her hair up in an intricate arrangement. Tuilindien lets him even though there really isn't time –they both got home late to change for dinner. She stayed too late at the palace library, and his negotiations with a merchant he has been dealing with on his father's behalf ran long.
Carnistir always wants to make her hair as beautiful as possible, whatever the occasion. Since his tastes run to the ornate and intricate in this matter, her hair these days is more styled at a family dinner than it was on their wedding day when she wore it down, tumbling freely down her back with only flowers woven into it by her mother. His own hair Carnistir cuts shorter as soon as it covers his shoulder blades, and when it is grown past his shoulders he always pulls into a careless ponytail and fastens it with a cord. He doesn't care enough to either do more himself or to allow her to spend any time on his hair.
And Tuilindien would rather let him spend the time tending to her hair anyway because he enjoys it so much. She loves looking in the mirror to see him behind her with a look of fascination and concentration on his face as he dextrously entwines her golden curls into complicated braids and designs he comes up with as he goes along. He threads in little gems, beads and rings of precious metals or ribbons of bright silk, crowning the look with delicate combs or a circlet.
There is an ever-growing collection of all of these on her dressing-table, and if she didn't know how clever he was with money and how prosperous they were to begin with, she would worry that his preoccupation with decorating her hair is making a dent in their finances.
In spite of the large collection of ornaments Carnistir never uses too many at once: his taste is impeccable and his creations never cross the line into gaudy unlike some others'.
Sometimes he uses flowers because he knows that she likes them, although it vexes him that he cannot enchant them to stay unwilted. Tuilindien does it herself like her mother taught her to, and doesn't mind having to do it.
Tuilindien also lets her husband do with her hair as he wishes because she loves it so much, his devoted countenance and his wonderful touch alike. Sometimes he pulls at a strand a little too tightly for comfort or accidentally jabs at her scalp with a sharp hairpin, but most of the time his large, strong fingers are gentle and skilful. Luxuriating in the touch, she often closes her eyes and feels all the tension in her body melt away as she relaxes to the point of limpness.
But keeping her eyes open is a good option too because then she can watch him in the mirror, his clever fingers moving swiftly and his beloved face simultaneously relaxed, happy and furiously focused. He has a facet to his generally impatient personality that can concentrate in silence for a long time on the smallest detail when he is truly absorbed in his task, and this side of him manifests itself when he brushes and styles her hair.
As she sits here now, both of enjoying themselves and each other, she slips quietly into a memory.
Carnistir's tending to her hair became a ritual of theirs from the very first time they went anywhere together as a married couple, which happened to be the day after their wedding and their destination was simply lunch in their own dining room.
Breakfast they had skipped; they'd woken up in the garden pavilion where they had had each other their wedding night, too impatient to go inside. They did make it to their bed in the early morning hours, sneaking back into the house in silver light, but once they made their way there different appetites had again manifested themselves and eating had been forgotten.
By the time they'd recovered from  that second pleasure, it was lunchtime and they decided that they should put in an appearance in the dining room lest their servants get too much reason to make fun of them. Dressing took a long time since they would rather have been undressing each other again, but eventually they were decent and Tuilindien picked up her hairbrush to hastily start brushing her hair. After the night and morning they'd had it was a thorough mess from head to hips, though Carnistir had tenderly untangled it with his fingers at moments of afterglow.
He'd stepped behind her where she stood in front of the dressing-table and the tall three-panel mirror. For a moment he just watched as she brushed her hair, his gaze flickering between her reflection and the real her, and she enjoyed his gaze on her as she had learned to. Then he asked, his voice low, 'May I?' and held his hand out for the hairbrush.
A little surprised even after his frequent previous attention to her hair, but pleased, Tuilindien handed him the brush and sat down on the stool before the mirror. He surprised her by disentangling and brushing the long curly mess with more gentleness and patience than she had allowed herself. It also felt far more wonderful than she could have imagined – and with his touch and his undivided attention alike on her, it felt just as intimate as what they had had together on the silk sheets, and the cushions of the garden pavilion.
At one point Tuilindien realised she had just closed her eyes and moaned out loud, and, embarrassed, she opened her eyes quickly to see in the mirror what his response to her reaction was. Carnistir met her gaze in the mirror and she could see the dark flames lapping in his eyes that had already become familiar to her, the particular kind of flame that he only had for her. But then, instead of taking her back to bed as she fully expected him to do after that look, he only bent his head and kissed the top of hers, then returned to his task.
It was only when he had got rid of every snarl and tangle and her hair was again a wide river of gold down her back that he threw her onto the bed and made her his own again. Her hair twisted around his fingers almost to the verge of pain, he made her moan out her pleasure.
Remembering that first morning with a secret little smile, Tuilindien now looks at her husband of twenty weeks with love and desire. She would quite like to tell him to pause at his task and touch her elsewhere besides her hair, and to let her touch him. But there is no time, they are already late for dinner, so she stays still and lets him finish the unnecessarily complicated hairstyle, reminiscing that the first gift he ever gave her was a pair of ornamental hair combs, the gift that started their courting.
She knows that later tonight when they have returned from dinner and after Carnistir has unravelled the elaborate array of braids and ornaments, he will stare at the freely flowing golden locks for a moment, and perhaps he will have the patience tonight to brush them for a long time and bury his face in them and pet them, running his fingers through and admiring the colour like the light of Laurelin, or perhaps he won't.
Sooner or later, his patience will snap and he will take her with wild joy, and then after they will fall asleep in a tangle of limbs and hair, black and gold, his face always against her skin or in her hair.
Tuilindien smiles at her husband's reflection in mirror in happy expectation of the night.
'I adore you', she tells him.
His eyes meet hers before he returns to his work, and he kisses his hair. 'And I you', he says.
*
A/N: I am not even sorry that I wrote Caranthir a fascination with Tuilindien's hair that merrily gallops over the line to fetish territory. After all, all of Tolkien's elves valued lovely hair, and the Noldor thought the golden hair of the Vanyar beautiful (HoME X, HoME XII respectively). So this is just an extrapolation from that, right? In any case, Tuilindien is just as into it, so it's a happy thing for them.
I had a lot of fun writing this self-indulgent little fic. Thank you for reading, and please let me know your thoughts.
