Research Post 5 (Man’s Best Friend Photographs by Willam Wegam)

William Wegman, born in 1943, is an accomplished artist known not only for his photography skills but for his work in painting, drawing, and video. Wegman's artistic journey took a turn for the better when he introduced a Weimaraner named Man Ray into his life during his time in Long Beach. This marked the beginning of a celebrated collaboration, with Man Ray becoming a central figure in Wegman's photographs and videos.

Out of all the books I read this was one of my perusal favorites. I really enjoyed the imagination that was put behind every photo. I’m not an animal person so at first I was hesitant about this book but once I opened it it was full of creativity and every page was like a breath of friester air. As I turned the page I wondered what the next photo graphy would depict. This book accurately showcases 25 exceptional photographs captured with a unique Polaroid camera, showcasing the remarkable collaboration between man and dog – William Wegman and his Weimaraner, Man Ray. Through their extraordinary partnership, they have crafted a collection of images that explore the diversity of human and animal existence in our surroundings. The rare Polaroid camera used in this venture adds a distinctive touch to the visual narrative, providing readers with a glimpse into the extraordinary bond and artistic interaction between Wegman and Man Ray. This book is a series of photos where he dresses up the dog, and for every photo there is a different theme. 

I was sad to learn that in 1982, Man Ray passed away. The passing of Man Ray marked the end of an era, and in recognition of his significant impact, he was honored as "Man of the Year" by The Village Voice.
