I'm doing research on the origins on the Ouija board and I'm finding articles on Pearl Curran and Patience Worth despite the fact they have nothing to do with the actual origin. They just happen to be perhaps the earliest and most bizarre recorded instances of communication via spirit board in the early 1900s.
So Pearl Curran claimed to have been in communication with Patience Worth, a dead author, and she transcribed their communications and published books "by Patience Worth". Curran and Worth managed to publish several novels as well as many poems together that can still be read. In fact, during their time they were considered quite the accomplished authors. Whether this can be accredited to actually good writing or just the novelty of a dead author transcribing her work via Ouija board, I can't say as I have not actually read Hope Trueblood, The Sorry Tale, or any of their other works.
Of course they had their detractors as well, many skeptics came forward trying to denounce the existence of Patience but of course it all came out inconclusive. As it is in our time, you can not prove nor disprove the existence of ghosts. So Curran and Worth stirred up a good bit of controversy in their time. Now I don't pretend i know the truth of the matter myself as I ever tow the line between skeptic and believer but one thing i do know is that if all that Mrs. Curran has said is in fact true, then she is perhaps the world's first and only true Ghost Writer.
Okay but don't be mad, this is all true and verifiable with a quick google search, i swear this was not a bit just for the joke.
