Here’s some Curious Village themed drawings I did

I didn’t have room to write it, but basically the stuff with Adrea is supposed to be expectations (that’s she’s just a jerk) vs reality, because I mean, Lucy is mentioned in the profiles to be a very sweet kid, and that she’s somehow great friends with Adrea, despite Adrea seeming like a jerk. I like to think that while Adrea may like to make fun of people all the time, she really does care about her young friend, and Lucy’s one of the only people to see past Adrea’s initial appearances and see she’s got a good heart

Also fun fact, while Lucy’s name is a Latin name meaning “light”, Adrea’s name is also Latin meaning “dark”. Just thought that was an interesting little contrast that also ties into their personalities too

Next I drew Lucy with her unnamed brother whom I’ve decided to call Oliver, whom she calls Ollie for short. No real deeper reason, other than it’s also Latin and it happens to be the name of another Level 5 protagonist I suppose. Going with my theory that Lucy is a human not from St Mystere (and specifically Desmond’s daughter), the same goes for her brother too, and I wanted to make them look like they aren’t related (though I suppose they still could be), and I give him dot eyes as a slight parallel to Layton to Lucy’s Desmond in this scenario. Also going along the lines of the first puzzle Lucy gives you, she and Oliver are the same age, both being around 11, only Lucy is a couple months older

As for Oliver’s backstory, I haven’t fully decided, but he’s either a kid of another Targent agent who had the one who smuggled Lucy out take their kid too because they knew they were gonna die soon and that they had no other family, so their son would end up in Targent and they didn’t want that, or he was another kid who’s parents were killed by Targent that the agent decided to take with him

Then I just drew some more characters

First I like the idea that Flick and Percy are married, so I drew them together. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but think the way I drew Percy makes him look like kid Gru

Oh yeah another thing I was gonna draw but forgot to, I like to imagine that Flick and Rodney are brothers, simply because I think they look alike

Then I drew Simon and Ramon because I like the idea that they’re either good friends or dating, and they’re just jerks to everyone together. I feel like Ramon looks weird though. I swear, I have no clue how to draw his hair, so I just sort of flubbed it

Then finally I drew Lady Dahlia because I like her and I had some empty space. I hope things go better for her in the future

Is it weird for liking Rachel when she appears like 2 minutes and it is her death scene?

Of course not! One of my favourite characters, Carmine, appears for like 2 minutes in the PLvsAA prologue, and he might as well have died as we don’t see him again and he barely ever gets mentioned. Most of the personality traits I see him having are based very loosely on comments from other characters… or they’re just headcanons.

We learn barely anything about Marina Triton’s personality/interests in the anime, outside of her being Luke’s wife. I just made a too-long post trying to defend Marina.

Janice Quatlane gets about 5 minutes of actual screen time where she isn’t acting as a vessel for Melina. Janice is still one of my underrated favourites and Janice/Melina is an OTP.

A lot of my favourite characters are self-sacrificing and willing to put others before themselves. I know this is quite a low bar for a character.. but it’s traits I admire. Also, you’re allowed to like a character for something as simple as their design or their voice acting. Janice is beautiful and Marina is adorable and I like Carmine’s Italian accent.

There are several things to admire about Rachel Bronev, even if they’re just inferred or down to headcanons. It’s clear she loved her sons and her husband. She had dreams and Targent must have seen her as knowledgable on the Azran— why else would they kidnap her and leave the kids behind? It’s a shame that Level 5 didn’t give her a chance to shine and they killed her off for the sake of Bronev’s angst, like a lot of their female characters. But that shouldn’t stop you from producing content/posts about Rachel!

I’m sorry if any of my posts grumbling about Bronev came across as character-bashing Rachel. (I try not to put those posts in the character tags!) I don’t like Bronev— at least, not how he’s written in Azran Legacy— and I don’t like the part Rachel played in his story, but I’m all for seeing more of Rachel! I think the game would’ve been 100 x more interesting if RACHEL had become Targent’s leader, or if she had been kept alive and tried to stop Bronev from the shadows.
