Unlike common belief, pressure treated lumber does not require to be left untreated for a long period before staining. Newly installed pressure treated wood on decks and exterior structures should be left about two weeks for lumber to dry. It then should be washed with house cleaning solutions sold by paint manufacturers, followed by wood brightener to bring the PH level down.
