i know this puts me in a niche but i'm into julian's relationship with sloan being what he'd have had with garak if he'd been at all honest with himself about the seductive lizard-man's past and likely present. the difference is mainly that julian was sloan's victim from the moment they met, so he was never able to hide behind "well i don't *know* what he did so maybe he was like... working in an office during the occupation, making sure everyone had enough stationary. yeah, it was probably that. i'm sure it was fine and nobody got hurt in any way." if sloan had just hit him with the charm and mystery instead then he might just have managed to recruit him to the exciting and glamourous and in no way shady world of espionage. remember kids, hypocrisy almost rhymes with hippocrates.
