That "arrow" of geese, known as a skein, team, or wedge, flew over La Macchina Fissa this morning. It is pointing southwest, and that's exactly where they are headed, I guess, honking all the way. DECIPHERING TRUE DETECTIVE

I am a sucker for good TV.  So when I heard that HBO's True Detective was the next big thing, I tuned in.  This is show is stars Mr. Alright, Alright, Alright himself, Matthew McConaughey and marked the return to television of everybody's favorite ditsy bartender Woody Harrelson.  With that kind of star power, how could True Detective lose? 

I checked out all 8 episodes on demand.  I didn't binge watch this one and that has a lot to do with this hilarious but accurate parody video done by the folks at The Soup. What the hell is Matthew McConaughey saying?  You can't have a Neitzsche spouting cop, mumbling complex philosophical ideas in a Texas drawl. 

My husband watched the series on his own and he really enjoyed it.  He loved how intelligent and well written it was.  But to be honest, I don't know if it was intelligent or well written, since I missed so much of the dialogue. First I would turn it up, then I would rewind it back.  Nope didn't get it.  Rewind again.  Nope still no idea.  F^&K it.  Hopefully I didn't miss anything important.  But on a few occasions I did.  Like the last and very poignant line of the series.  After three tries, I gave up.  Fortunately I found out later on IMDB, so the eight hours I spent watching this series wasn't a total waste. 

As funny and honest as this parody is, what's even funnier is how True Detectives hard core fans are wound so tight and have no sense of humor about the difficult to understand show.  Many criticize the intelligence levels of those who couldn't decipher McConaughey's mumblings.  What I could follow on the show was interesting, gritty and dark, but I am not committed to any series enough to watch with close captioning like so many admitted to having to do with this show.
