Kaishin Reveal and What It Means For You

Okay I need everyone to keep their shit together because I think this is being blown out of proportion. What follows is a quick rant about what the hell is going in the DCMK fandom and what is going on in fandom in general cause I don’t know why I’m seeing so many people lose their shit over something that was most likely going to happen followed by a quick lesson by a ‘fandom elder’ on how to ignore canon and make a ship your own. 

Spoilers ahead and whatnot. 

April 11th the DCMK 27 movie came out and information was revealed about how Kaito Kuroba and Shinichi Kudou are now cousins. Twitter lost its mind, Tumblr lost its mind, Discord servers are being created and now everyone is wondering what the hell should they do. 

I’m going to be honest, if you are a creator for KaiShin, please don’t delete your work. 

Either archive it or orphan it but please don’t delete it.

You put time and effort into this, into something you love, and just because the mangaka is so SO set in his ways of every single ship being friends to lovers does not mean you have to follow the same format. This doesn’t make you an incest shipper or whatever, it doesn’t make you a person who you don’t want to be, it’s just something that you had no idea of knowing was going to happen and I hope that you can look back at it fondly. 

Anyways, for those enjoying Kaishin on the sidelines all I’m going to say is Pick a Lane. 

Ignore Canon 

If you are an old time shipper then this may not be new for you. I mean Gosho literally had another ship that turned out to be cousins like at this point it’s ‘who is my cousin’ being played in the entire Detective Conan manga. You either already guessed it, are an active incest shipper (hi, hello, tis a me) or you are used to your favourites dying. This situation is no fucking different. 

Wolfwood is dead, in my head he is alive and well and treating his Plant husband right. 

Sora is missing, not in my head where he is kissing Roxas and Riku and Kairi and whoever else wants to get at the sunshine of the KH universe. 

Ben is dead, NOT IN MY REYLO FANFICTION. 

If you are a person who actively kept up with the manga or actively kept up with the show it is possible to ignore canon because they do not suddenly go super deep into being cousins and knowing about each other. They both don’t know if they are cousins or else the jig would be up immediately and the manga would be finished. You CAN ignore canon and if Kaishin is a ship that brings you joy and just serotonin production I implore you guys to choose this lane if you still want to enjoy Kaishin. 

It’s by far the healthiest option and teaches you how to curate your own fandom experience.

I was in the Hannibal fandom for a while and I clearly remember the ‘Hannibal is not a Cannibal’ tag on AO3. I thought it was hilarious but I would never dare to make fun of it because that is a prime example of CURATING YOUR FANDOM EXPERIENCE.

Again, if you want to delve into AU’s then that is up to you and I think it’s a pretty good lane for those who just feel weird about the whole reveal. 

Stepping Away

Your moral values are your own, people, and I am in no position or even want to judge them. If you feel uncomfortable about this now, see your love for Kaishin diminishing because of the reveal or just don’t see yourself shipping Kaishin in the future then you are more than capable of measuring your response and stepping away from the ship entirely for your own health. 

Is it going to be sad? Yes, but they are fictional and I recommend having an idea of what you have in your life outside of fandom that makes you happy that you can focus on as you go through this. College, work, whatever hobbies you may have taken up–hell put all your eggs into another ship that you know also brings you joy! 

Do not let this dictate your day or your month or your year. This is just fandom, you don’t have to make a big statement unless asked about it, you do not have to justify your decision to anybody, curate.your.fandom.experience. 

I’m going to end this with a repeat of what I just said. 

This is all fictional. We are playing in a fictional sandbox where we can all make whatever we want in any capacity and as long as it is tagged correctly then nobody’s lines have to be crossed. If you just started enjoying Kaishin, find out how you still want to enjoy it or step away. If you have shipped Kaishin for a while, do the same fucking thing! The east side of the fandom is having a field day with the movie, why can’t the west have some fun too?!

i mean for this isn't the first time gosho put love interesrs as cousins( akai and akemi) or the second time ( whatever the fuck thats going on in hannin no hanzawa ). So even if kaishin was canon it wouldn't change much cuz gosho himself shipped cousins.

Okay, fuck you Gosho, I'm trying SO HARD to be kind about your small time estimate, but my dude if you keep going like this I swear I'm going to end up calculating the length of time that Shinichi has been Conan as literally 28 years. We are 26 chapters in right now, and I've calculated a minimum of 21 days (though realistically at least a few more), and then he just goes and skips a month. Conan has existed for two months as of Chapter 21, then????

Obviously, I'm going to have to think about what to do with this. And a judgement of "Kogoro forgot because he was unconscious, it was two days ago but the month was previously March and now it's April" or whatever isn't going to work because

(yes, I know Gosho had no idea this sort of thing would one day create a problematic timeline, 26 weeks into Conan and he had no idea if this series would last 100 chapters, let alone 1100, but it's a bit frustrating for my purposes.)

More Dark Conan Fic Ideas!!!

National 

Japan Rearms: Ever since Japan’s defeat in the war, it has been forbidden by Article 9 of its constitution from having a army or waging war. Some nationalists which to change that. A country that hasn't experienced war in over 60 years and wishes to support a American Invasion of some middle eastern country the Americans have no business with youth that has no knowledge that war is pretty fucking horrible? Our poor Gosho Boys and their girls are fucked! And not in the good way.

Sonoko Dates A Teacher: This idea can only work before Makoto. Not just because of Sonoko’s character development but also because I think they are a cute couple, and don’t want to hurt them with NTR. So here's the stich. A handsome new teacher comes to Teitan High. Praying on Sonoko’s insecurities, they start a unequal relationship. Sonoko begins to have second thoughts but the teacher is emotionally manipulative and abusive so he slowly convinces her that everyone is against her until he convinces her to move in with him despite being underage. Of course, her best friends Ran and Shinichi/Conan go in to save her and succeed of course. However the guy gets up with a slap on the wrist due to a insincere apology (no seriously, Japanese judges allow this) and her family seeks vengeance. On the way, Sonoko deals with healing, potential STDs/pregnancy, and getting justice so he does not manipulate any at risk minors again,

Goodbye: A student at Teitan High kills themselves, sparking within Shinichi a hunt for person(s) responsible. Basically 13 Reasons Why but not stupid and like a David Cage Game like the show was.

Second Fukishima: After Fukishima, a Japanese Political Scientist predicted a potential disaster in the future where after a earthquake with a nuclear plant in the vicinity would end up with the radiation preventing any rescue. I picture Heiji and Kazuha with a sad ending.

Political Corruption: An popular and charismatic politician invites the Kogoro to dinner and asks Ran to be a intern. However upon accident Conan discovers that not only is he linked the Black Organization but he seems to have broken every legal and moral taboo possible, using political fraud, blackmail, bribery, embezzlement, and even assassinations to maintain his grip on power. Conan is now determined to stop him. However, as the most powerful politician in the country with his eye on the Prime Minister’s office, our dear boy has his work cut out for him due to the sheer fact that he could disrupt the entire system if he wanted to and is simply too important to replace. Even worse no matter what scandal he goes through and whatever technique Shinichi uses, he keeps winning elections, regaining his popularity, and avoiding prosecution as Shinichi begins to wonder if justice really means anything. However regardless of his views once this powerful broker discovers who is thwarting his plans, he will choose the iron fist instead of a silk glove to stamp out any threats and Shinichi will wonder if he has bit off more then he can chew with this one as the costs become too high.

Migrant Troubles: Boy this is doomed to be controversial isn’t it? Anyway the trouble that Japan is experiencing is that due to a multitude of factors, the population is heavily decreasing and ageing. It’s gotten to the point that the amount of empty land due to depopulation will be the size of Austria by 2040. At one point unless the socio-economic factors change significantly, Japan will need a combination of migrants and automation to keep its economy from collapsing and take care of the many old people. Only problem is… Well Japanese for the most part are very nice. However they expect you to conform perfectly to their customs. This and many other issues such as the Japanese concept of Homogeneity, the rights of permanent residents, and others I don’t have time nor want to discuss right now makes trouble inevitable. Basically what I’m getting at is a Sci Fi fic set around this time that examines the issues that are controversial today through a allegorical tale that questions the dichotomy between clashing cultures, the dangers of populism, the receding wave of democracy, unhealthy nostalgia and many more issues pertaining to today as shown by our lovable cast!

I saw the devil: Conan and friends come across a seemingly normal man on their travels. However he turns out to be anything but kills someone Conan loves. Obsessed and wanting revenge, Conan/Shinichi may become the very thing he despises in the pursuit of justice.

The enemy is poverty- The Mouri’s have been missing for a year. Eri is the only one who still believes them to be alive. Desperately looking for her husband and daughter she discovers that Kogoro lied about his financial situation and is in serious debt. Following the clues as she futilely searches for her family, she comes across a starving six year boy name Conan who may be the single clue she needs to discover the whereabouts of her vanished family.

Foreign

Stuck in Hong Kong (Or Any Other ill Advised destination): The Mouri’s go a foreign country expecting a fun filled vacation. However, things get dangerous fast as the political situation explodes into unrest or even worse a civil war and our most beloved dysfunctional family is separated and must choose sides in a struggle between an authoritarian regime and popular rebels who may not be the knights in shining armor they appear to be. Economic Stability or Radical Reform? Which wins out?

Animal Attacks: Another vacation! But this time the animals are more of the four-legged variety which the criminals are using as the perfect murder weapon.

Kidnapping: Conan is abducted across continents and its up to our cast of Gosho Boys and Girls to go on a quest to save him!

Supernatural

Cryptids Are Real: A hunt for a beast is at bay in Japan and of course the Mouri’s come along to cavort in the quest. Conan is dismissive... Until he sees the beast itself. Not wanting to believe it but seeing is believing, so now Conan makes a difficult choice. Does he help kill the rare animal or does he help save it? And Could it be controlled by someone else? Actual Curse: There’s a reason why bodies show up around Conan. A great Ju-On has attached himself to Shinichi since he was born and now the bodies are piling up too high to be coincidence especially now that people he cares about are dying. Can Shinichi get if off of him? Or will the only solution be to just give it to someone else? Evil Spirit Vs. Beleaguered Spirit Needing Rest: In a house, or perhaps a forest or city, a evil presence has made itself known. Along with the usual haunting signs, people are getting mutilated by scratches and bite marks, property is being mysterious destroyed, and the suicides/accidental death rate is increasing. The only witness to this is a dead soul desperately trying to cross over before her soul is corrupted, and the only person who can help is one Shinichi Kudo. But Kudo is a man of science instead of a man of faith and does not believe easily, can he help her defeat the Yurei before its too late? Possessed By A Demon: A serial killer is caught by Sleeping Kogoro and later executed. Then Another. And Another. Soon it becomes quite clear that these are no mere copycats but one entity controlling multiple people. But how do you catch a killer that is immaterial and most importantly how do you keep it from possessing you while on the path to exorcise it? Undead is the plan: The BO has finally put their plan in motion. That is to have a massive ruling class rendered immortal as they use zombified corpses as chattel to extract massive resources all for themselves. What remains of those who haven’t been reanimated and how do they survive, let alone fight back? Bestial Serial Killer: The Mouri’s and Hattori’s are invited to a dinner from a eccentric billionaire. They are told the catch: One of them is a Werewolf or other kind of shapeshifter that's been killing people and once he finds out who it is, the hunt is on! But the Beast also has many tricks up its sleeves as well. Inspired by the movie, The Beast Must Die. Sacrifices: A series of Euro-pagan/satanic inspired ritual murders have been occurring in Japan and the public is in a uproar due to how brutal the mass killings are. Seems like the most likely to be targeted are virgins between six and seventeen. Unfortunately, the Gosho Boys, Gosho Girls, and Detective Boys more then qualify. FULL DISCLAIMER: This plotline is not meant to insult anyone with said beliefs to be honest most of you guys are awesome and would never hurt a fly. Postmodern Prometheus: Somehow a murderer manages to revive a corpse made out of a dismembered body through vivisection and while he is caught, “It” lives, now the poor little boy most go through life, his body perpetually caught between death and life, as he faces more of the madman’s abominations while he tries to hide his newfound status from a certain drunken detective, and the love of his life

Outside The Box

Life is but a dream: Shinichi wakes up one day to find that reality doesn’t work anymore. Everything from physics to the people he knows no longer make sense in any certifiable logic. Eventually he realizes that he is in a coma and if he doesn’t wake up soon he’ll die. The dreamscape slowly becomes more and more nightmarish and even if he does wake up is he still in the dream? Lots of Lynchian ideas could be done with this.

You’re the only one I wanna go through time with: One of the Gosho Boys is stuck in a time loop and the current one encounters myriad versions of himself. He has multiple memories, deja vu, can predict what’s going to happen to a limited extent. However, the more one goes through time, the more nihilistic and apathetic they become, potentially developed fatalistic tendencies or going insane as they experience the beginning and end of the universe over and over again. As they futilely attempt to stop the loop, they see lovers and friends die over and over again, as paradoxes become too heavy for all the threads to bear until finally, they ask their most beloved friend to go with them so they won’t be alone.

Machima: This pertains to something that happened in the MK Manga. In it, Kaito Kuroba fights a exact robotic replica of himself. But what that same android replaced him with he even noticing? How would this shatter Kaito’s world and how would he deal with not being real?

I know this place: One of the detectives goes across a murder scene. Only problem is, he gets flashes of consciousness of him or her being a different man or woman, in a different time, in a different time. Who is responsible for these memories? Who was the person they once where? And why are they acting more and more like them without their control? And it gets even worse when images of murders begin both in the past and the present begin to come forth. Inspired by the Stone Tape Theory.

I'm not up to date yet so I don't know if anything recent has happened to make it more annoying. but I'm nearly 600 episodes into the anime and I'm already tired of ran's ignorance.

Ran is a smart girl. Sure she's not shinichi levels smart but she is smart. She has solved cases on her own with little input from Conan/shinichi

And she really let's this intelligence shine when it's for the sake of her friends

But then suspicion arcs happen and ran gets treated like an easily distracted idiot who will ignore a possibility based on very little evidence (Conan having a separate phone to shinichi was enough to make her drop the possibility for atleast 500ish episodes after all) and I hate it.

Okay, I read you, I understand the frustration, but I feel like I need to mention something here: Being smart doesn’t correlate to being a detective. I think we sometimes forget and put every character under the same umbrella. That’s not how life works. But of course, being this a detective manga, it’s something that happens almost unintentionally. 

There’s different things that people can be good at, there’s different kinds of knowledge, and people are smart in different aspects of their life. Haibara for example, she’s very VERY smart. She’s a freaking scientist, but is she a good detective? Although there are examples of cases where she’s done the job, she’s certainly not among the best ones. And yet that doesn’t mean she’s not an intelligent character, does it? 

Well the same goes for the other characters. Ran might not be the best detective, but she certainly tries her best and has actually done some really cool shit. She’s put Shinichi against the ropes PLENTY of times, and he could only escape thanks to the help he’s gotten from other people by disguising as him or whatever. And on her defense, how the fuck can you realistically think that someone can shrink as your first option? Even so, it’s only a matter of time before Ran eventually catches up to everything that’s going on. I really do have hopes on her.

No, not boring, because I still feel for them and ache for them and am excited about them dating. 

Frustrating maybe, a little bit. Mainly because there’s been no development whatsoever and because Aoyama played us with the whole “they’re shy to talk to each other again despite having already broken that barrier with the post-Kyoto messages.”

Which, by the way, now that we talk about it, I don’t think Shinichi is particularly shy about that. I think that’s just Ran coming up with a plausible excuse to explain why Shinichi hasn’t called or texted as much, or whatever. She is kinda shy about it and just assumes Shinichi probably is too. But I honestly believe that Shinichi, now more than ever, can’t fucking wait to get back his body and be with her --and no embarrassment will get in the way of that.

The flaws you pointed out in Shinichi regarding how he treats Ran I would say are mainly due to his insecurities. Ran is his main motivation after all and you could see that he isn’t the most rational when it comes to her that’s why she is his most difficult case. I would have enjoyed more challenges in their relationship though something that would trigger a speech similar to his desperate Revival - Valentine speech because they showed how vulnerable he is

Whatever they're due to kinda doesn't justify the way he treats her, sorry. If you don't treat your partner right, or aren't at least honest about why you fuck up sometimes so you can work together on doing better, you don't deserve them. And I'm personally sick to the back teeth of romance narratives that obligate women to be men's emotional support but don't require men to reciprocate. I mean, ultimately this is Gosho's fault for being a shitty romance writer, of course. Git gud and emotionally develop your protagonist, Gosho

In this picture that you said you liked Kaziha's outfit in it, Im still so FUCKING MAD at that idiot Heiji for breaking Kazuha's heart💔😠 Why is gosho still taking Kazuha's waiting as a comedy thing and Rans as a sad love story?! Like its not even nice to watch anymore, I only watch detective conan because of heiji and Kazuha but I couldn't bring myself to watching Kazuha suffer anymore. I mean Kazuha does see heiji whenever she wants, but it's either when he's with his fangirls or momiji or when their alone but Mr idiot is making fun of her or making her mad! She deserves to have the love she deserves already! And gosho better bring a love rival for Heiji, kazuha is the only one fighting for their relationship and heiji is just sitting their saying that momiji is gorgeous, that son of a bitch!

I know it’s very frustrating to watch but Gosho is doing this for Heizuha because he loves romantic comedy and probably he wants to build up to a big confession, which we know will be grand because of what Gosho revealed in his interview. I definitely feel heartbroken when I see Kazuha getting hurt too.

But here’s the thing, Kazuha isn’t the only one fighting for their relationship. How many times did Heiji plan a beautiful confession for her? A lot. To the point that there’s a compilation for Heiji’s failed confessions. Heiji’s working hard to win her over, and he even took her to the lights in Tokyo just for her. She didn’t even ask him to go there, she just showed him a picture and expressed how beautiful it would be in real life. Plus he went with her to the Kamen Yaiba party or whatever it was even though he wasn’t interested at all. He took pictures with her even tho he didn’t want to and even went to the cafe with her and bought her a cute Kamen Yaiba pin. He was exhausted in the end as we saw in the episode, but nevertheless he did it for her and he doesn’t regret one bit of it.

It’s true that Heiji teases Kazuha, but she’s used to it and doesn’t usually get hurt, but it does end in an explosive banter. For example, when they were praying in the temple in Tokyo, Heiji told Kazuha to pray for thinner thighs, Kazuha just told him to shut up. She wasn’t affected by it whatsoever. Heiji’s a goofy guy and he likes to tease people and joke around, and loves to get a reaction out of Kazuha.

What he did in movie 21 when he said that Momiji was pretty honestly broke my heart to pieces. Especially when I saw Kazuha’s heartbroken reaction, but here’s the thing. Heiji didn’t do anything wrong when he mentioned how beautiful Momiji is because then that would be a lie to say he didn’t find her beautiful. But what he did wrong was compare her to Kazuha and say that Kazuha’s unforgettable in a different way (which basically makes Kazuha believe that she’s ugly and violent). Now even though Heiji believes that Momiji is gorgeous, does that mean that he doesn’t find Kazuha beautiful? No. In fact Heiji is 1000x more attracted to Kazuha than Momiji. I don’t see Heiji staring at Momiji’s lips and simping over her like he does with Kazuha. Even in dc episodes, you can tell he couldn’t care less about Momiji, but he is very very attracted to Kazuha, and her presence affects him a lot.

Detective Conan Deconstruction/Plot Twists/Subversion's

I've been thinking a lot because I haven't slept or been made sensible enough to see reality through rational means of comprehension.

For a black and white series of tales such as Gosho Aoyama's DCMKverse I can sure think of a multitude of ways to turn it grey. So many dark, bloody possibilities, such a endless plethora of grief, angst, and schadenfreude, of voided bowels and lost innocence, so many terrifying ideas yet so little time...

Anyway, to summarize the contents of all that verbal diarrhea, my mind has created a vast orchestra of sinister ideas that I can't put them all in one or more stories. Some of them I'll use later, some of them I will not. I guess my main inspiration for this stream of consciousness that shouts madly into the abyss of the World Wide Web, is the idea that some intrepid, curious wanderer may come across my inane rantings and be inspired to write their own atrocities.

Or maybe it will the stoke the wondrous imagination of a writer who is more of a sick fuck then I am, (:

Suspect Gets The Last Laugh- Killer is revealed but manages to poison the victim with Ricin or something more subtle allowing the target to die a couple days later. Simple enough.

More Then One Killer- The killer is caught! However a quick look back at the scene reveals he wasn’t alone and he ain’t spilling the beans.

Hannibal Lector Wannabe- A killer decides to fuck with our beloved Teen Detectives by playing a game of manipulation and horror while he threatens their loved ones into continuing.

Escaping Through Statute Of Limitations- When Our Teen Detectives decide to give their customary breaking speech,

Killer Gets Out Of It, Now After Detectives- The killer proves much too clever and sees through our casts tricks. Maybe he begin’s to notice Conan’s con and swears revenge out of his ego.

Loved Ones Hurt In The Crossfire- They were too quick for Conan’s soccer ball, Heiji’s sword, Kogoro’s Judo, or Division One’s reflexes. The bullets, blades, bludgeons. and Pelvic Thrusts couldn’t be avoided and the innocent were hurt before they could be saved.

It’s Too Much All At Once- When the cast see a suspect state his intention to kill himself, especially in the early episodes, the cast would dare them to do it, thinking it is a bluff. It isn’t.

All For Naught- Going down a dark rabbit hole isn’t worth it, if a killer turns out to have escaped or has been dead for a long time.

Big Troll- There was no murder or kidnapping, they just wanted to humiliate them.

Green Mistake- Not all detectives succeed at once. Sometimes they make mistakes... Okay just here me out here. I sincerely doubt that all those amateur detectives despite their talent have a perfect track record in solving cases or even not getting a innocent person hurt. Just look at Heiji’s, Kogoro’s, and Sera’s early (or in Kogoro’s case many) mistakes. It’s statistically impossible to get it right all the time.

Victim Is Worse- Conan and the gang successfully prevent a client from being murdered. The criminal screams at them, telling them how evil he was, and how this was mistake. When they learn of the clients sick actions, they understand why.

Romance

Waiting For Someone Who Is No Longer There- Lets think about the situation between Shinichi and Ran for a sec. if your like me you come to a unfortunate realization that was also in the OVA “Stranger In 10 Years.” Shinichi may never get back to the way he was. Maybe there is no antidote. What if he disappears in that time? And I don’t mean move on, I mean dies without anyone knowing. Ran now has to deal with both a missing Shinichi and a vanished Conan. Yet, throughout her whole life Ran holds out hope, waiting for them. Waiting for Shinichi to call. She refuses to fall in love with someone else and becomes obsessed with finding them... Until in her old age, she dies.

The Sleeping Sleuth Sleeps Around- Okay just listen to my reasoning here for a sec. I know many of you are probably sharpening their knives in the comments but let’s really think about this for a sec. This is the same Kogoro who smacked the butt of one of the Black Bunnies, and repeatedly motorboats whatever young woman he comes across. I doubt if Eri is okay with that. Plus, alcoholism and nymphomania is not a winning combination. He could easily make a mistake while in his delirium.

Shinichi’s Toxic Jealousy- Once again bear with me on this. I don’t think either Shinichi (or Kogoro for that matter) are evil. They have flaws just like any other person. However, Shinichi can be sort of a dick with it comes to how territorial he is with Ran. Just look at Eisuke. Unlike most of the perverts who are after her, Eisuke is a genuinely nice guy and Shinichi treats him like garbage. That got me thinking... Maybe Shinichi’s claims about wanting Ran to be happy aren’t entirely true. A part of him knows what he’s doing is wrong but a selfish side can’t. What if Shinichi’s jealousy starts to hurt Ran severely? Again it have to be written well so Shinichi doesn’t come off like a unrepentant dick but I think there’s something there.

Character Flaws

Hot Headedness Get You Or Others Killed- This idea concerns Heiji mostly. A rather temperamental fellow isn’t he? Always rushing into danger without thinking or having trouble with guile... Ain’t that a losing combination innit? I wonder how many criminals can take advantage of that eh? How easy it would be to trick Heiji to go into a trap if Kazuha is threatened, how simple it would be to switch a blunted blade with a sharpened one, how effortless it would be to get important information, how utterly painless it would be to manipulate him... Well I’ll leave you lovely sick bastards to come up with more.

Dysfunction Junction- Let’s talk about the Mouri’s. They’re... Not healthy to say the least. With Kogoro’s gambling/drinking/man-whoring problem barely touched upon, as well as his abuse of Conan along with Eri’s absenteeism I can say that’s a huge target for blackmailers, debt collectors, and Count Of Monte Crisco wannabes.

Conan The Gremlin- Y’know for such a seemingly innocent little boy, he sure gets into a lot of trouble don’t he? Murders keep happening around him like a curse, and that animal tranquilizer can’t be healthy for Sonoko and Kogoro... Plus people could find out who he truly is and... Well it would probably be really messy wouldn’t it?

Incompetence From The Police- In all seriousness, let’s think about this for a second. You have a overburdened police dealing with a intense rise in the murder rate, illicit narcotic consumption, and terrorism... But before we can get any further let’s talk about real life Japanese criminal procedure. In Japan you can be held for 21 days in a tiny dark cell without due process or access to a lawyer. Your are also being interrogated with the police officers using abusive tactics such as telling you how ashamed your family would be, something that can’t happen in a culture based on Confucian values. You confess but take it back only to find that you’re basically fucked since Japan has a 99% conviction rate regardless of innocence. If your a drug addict, you are literally considered nonhuman by the public at large and due to the Reaganite standards treatment isn’t a option. If your on death row, you are never told when your going to die and even if innocent is unlikely to get out. Stressed at the rising crime rate, the police refuse to investigate any suspicious death and just like in Osaka (yes this actually happened) will simply not add to the police statistics. If your a police officer what are you to do? Just a few years ago there was so little crime and now your stressed to the bone. You’re largely conservative and full of pride so you won’t admit that you must change tactics. This quick jump to conclusions and borderline incompetence can be seen in so many episodes of Detective Conan that’s it’s a wonder that more people haven’t been wrongfully convicted or got away with it... Or perhaps they have.

Black Organization

Government Corruption- Given how much sway the BO has, it got me thinking. What if everything wrong with the Japanese Government is because the BO IS the government. Something sorta akin to how the Russian Mob are basically government officials. So many possibilities other then the usual blackmail, assassinations, and bombings. Electoral fraud, jury tampering, manufacturing consent, subtle revisions of the law to encroach on democratic rights such as those the Third Way, and Neoconservatives did in the west. So many more subtle yet intriguing ways to go about this! Perhaps the BO serves as a lobbying for other more savory companies that proudly align with them such as legalizing gambling or deregulating protections.

Caught!- The BO discovers Conan’s true identity. Hell follows.

Heists

Heist Bombing- Some madman or maybe the MK organization decides to bomb the Kid Heist. Lots of people die, are traumatized and have to deal with the aftermath. I’ll leave the rest up to you guys.

Crazy Fans- Self explanatory until you really think about it. If Kaito Kid is real in this universe, how toxic is the fandom? How many of them have pedophilic undertones with the beloved Kid Killer? What if a stalker discovers Kaito’s real identity and goes psychotic? Riots could happen! So many possibilities! Doesn’t have to dark like in my sick mind, can be played for laughs.

Shinichi, not just his identity now but his life, is seriously in danger now... what do you think is going to happen? what are your expectations on the possible bourbon vs conan showdown? and what do you really do not want to happen??

Okay. This is going to be long, I apologize in advance. 

First of all, let me just clearly state that I am 100% on board with the theory that Aoyama’s health is quickly deteriorating (as heartbroken I am to hear this) and that’s why he’s probably starting to rush through developments. Taking into account how long it took him to divulge Vermouth and Bourbon’s identity, it is incredibly suspicious that he full on just told us who the Boss is now, right after file 1000, right after such a big romantic development, without having said who Rum is. Usually he’d stick to an unrelated Detective Boys’ case and go back to the status quo. But he didn’t. Which means I can somewhat safely say that this is, my dear friends, the beginning of the end. 

That being said, it’s always dangerous to speculate what’s going to happen, because Gosho’s writing ends up being unpredictable a lot of the times. But here’s what I hope will somehow happen: 

-Bourbon will manage to let Conan know that Rum’s investigating Shinichi Kudo, and they’ll secretly team up à la Akai and Conan to help mislead Rum and probably use Rum to their advantage so that he or she can lead them to… well… I guess I can now say Karasuma. 

-The showdown (if it exists) will be a ruse –a fakeout. Bourbon and Conan will let everyone (including us) think they’re going up against each other but in reality they’ll be working together. 

-Conan will start gathering his squad (and yes I mean including Hattori, please, for the love of God let Hattori in on the Organization shenanigans already jesus) and will start coming up with some amazing plan none of us could’ve ever thought about to take down the Organization with Yusaku and Akai’s help (mainly).

-Somewhere in between all of this mess, or rather as the story progresses, we’ll get more information regarding the Organization and Karasuma that we don’t know like: Vermouth’s connection to Karasuma? Why is he presumed dead? Is he really dead? Is he alive? Why is he so fixed on creating an elixir for immortality? Is that actually what he’s after? Why are the Akais so involved? WHO THE FUCK IS RUM? WHERE THE FUCK ARE THESE BITCHES HIDING AT? 

-Haibara will have a pivotal role (I hope) in that she will finally reveal that she’s a lying little shit and either a) knew about Karasuma in some regards, b) has the antidote ready and hasn’t told Shinichi till now, or c) could probably tell you the location of the Organization’s headquarters. She knows more than she’s telling, always has, and I am ready for her mask to drop and for real shit to be revealed. 

-Sera and Mary are going to fuck shit up eventually and become allies with Shinichi, and probably have a rather cold (on Mary’s behalf anyway) reencounter with Akai. Don’t really care for them tbh. 

-Yukiko being both useful in the fight against the Organization (with Vermouth, etc…) and actively shipping and helping ShinRan. 

-Ran and Shinichi being lovey-dovey whilst shit is going down because mY KIDS ARE DATING AND THEY DESERVE TO BE IDIOTS IN LOVE before it all goes to hell.       -This includes Shinichi worrying about Ran, missing her, Ran referring to Shinichi as her boyfriend, both wanting to be with the other all the time, bla bla bla

What I don’t want to happen, however, is:

-Amuro being a little motherfucking shit and giving Shinichi up to the Organization to maintain his status in order to achieve his personal vendetta or whatever the fuck he’s up to with the Organization. I never really did like Amuro much, but if he turns on Shinichi and it’s not part of some kind of plan, I will hunt that bitch’s ass down and I will cut every single one of his extremities until nothing of his body remains. 

-Sera and Mary fucking it up with their absolute bullshit and somehow ruining Shinichi’s (and Akai and Yusaku’s) plan to confront the BO and getting Shinichi into more danger. 

-Anything that jeopardizes ShinRan other than a) one of the two of them being in mortal danger (because lbr the other one will save them) or b) Ran being mad at Shinichi because he didn’t tell her about Conan (because this will get resolved happily eventually). 

-ANYONE THAT IS NOT A BO MEMBER DYING. I AM VERY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS ONE AOYAMA. DO NOT FUCKING DO THIS TO ME. DO NOT FUCK WITH ME. 

-Conan, Akai and Yusaku coming up with some incredibly improbable and unrealistic plan that would’ve never worked in real life but somehow (and because of some shit deus-ex-machina thing) works in canon. I want something legit, seemingly-real and that I am amused and amazed by.
