Nairobi LOVES valentine’s day.

Cheesy stuff is her favorite thing - romance movies, dates etc…

So for Valentine's Day, she wants to have a big celebration with you.

She makes plans weeks ahead, booking a weekend for the two of you.

She likes taking you on roadtrips and also going on mini vacations to other towns

So that’s what she does on february 14. 

She doesn’t GAF if it’s in the middle of the week, you’re going lmao

Of course she’s also brought you gifts, probably some jewelry or a plushie. …Maybe both, actually.

Her face lights up when you hand her a gift too.

Will be all over you with kisses

She takes a lot of photos of and with you, and everything the two of you see and do. She wants to document it all and look back at it. 

The day is spent at the hotel, going to a spa, sightseeing or just a candlelit dinner, whichever you prefer.

She also books the fancy room, making sure the two of you have some privacy for the nights… ;)

Berlin

Andrés would spend a ridiculous amount of money for valentines day 😭

No but fr, you’d have to stop him from spontaneously paying for a trip to another country.

He treats this damn “holiday” like it is a life or death situation

Which can be both charming, but a bit concerning.

Luckily, he listens to you and decides on going for a weekend away instead. …His treat, of course

He books the two of you into some romantic spa hotel, and takes you out for fancy dinners.

Of course… Gifts, too. 

He buys you those things you’ve half mentioned wanting earlier. He memorizes everything you say, basically. 

He does all of this, yet still gets flustered when you give him something back. “Mi amor… You… You didn’t have to.” Meanwhile he has a big grin on his face, feeling grateful for every single thing you do.

The weekend away is full of love, relaxation and… Passion 🤭

“King of valentines day”, what can I say?

Denver

I love Denver, but he is pretty forgetful. 

He remembered it was Valentine's Day the same morning.

But this doesn’t mean he doesn't make an effort. 

He loves you, and even if you don’t care that much about it being february 14, he wants to show his love to you.

He rushes to the store to buy you flowers and some other gift.

He takes you out on a date in the afternoon, making sure he looks extra nice for you. 

The date is something romantic, yet fun.

Either an amusement park, picnics somewhere beautiful, ice/roller skating… You name it. 

When exchanging gifts, he feels bad for almost forgetting, but you don’t seem bothered at all, just happy to be with him. 

He gets excited when you hand him over a gift, feeling damn lucky to have you in his life. 

He doesn’t care what you give him, just happy you had him in mind.

Although, if you were to be angry at him, he has more surprises waiting once home iykwim ;)

Tokyo

A bit like Denver, but at least she remembers the day before lmao

She feels bad, tho, so she makes sure to buy you something and also flowers.

Tokyo doesn’t hate valentines day, but does find it annoying with all lovey-dovey couples. 

But she loves you, and defies her dislike for the day.

She warms up a bit at your reaction to the gifts, tho.

And loves what you get for her.

Doesn’t matter what it is, it will be her new comfort item, and a reminder of her love for you.

She takes you out for a romantic dinner, but then drags you out to the club.

She just wants to party the night away whilst keeping you close, showing everyone that you’re hers. 

The night probably ends with the two of you making out on the dance floor, and taking it somewhere more private…

Professor

This man… 

He’s not used to “celebrating” valentines day, so he is awkward about it.

Probably pleads Andrés for his help to pick out a gift to you and give him advice

…Although he ends up roasting his ideas/suggestions, since they’re too bold, perverted or cheesy. 

Still, he ends up taking some advice.

Homeboy just wants to give you a good day

And he does.

Sergio ends up going for the classic - flowers, suit and romantic dinner.

Also buys you some gift, just simply something he knows you like/need. 

Although he’s a bit nervous/awkward at first, being around you makes him less tense.

He totally stops functioning when you smile and give him what you bought for him

Alicia Sierra

Alicia has a busy job, but she tries taking a day off, or at least the afternoon - to spend it with you. 

She’s not that cheesy. 

She likes Valentine's Day, since it is a day of “celebration”, but she usually doesn’t bother with it. 

Until things got real with you.

She buys some simple (but probably expensive) gift and some flowers and picks you up with her car.

She takes you out to watch some movie and then to her place, where she’s fixed a candlelit dinner.

That way, you have more privacy and focus on each other. 

Alicia likes spoiling you, even if she doesn’t admit so out loud.

That’s why she looks so smug as you open the wrapping paper to the piece of jewelry she brought.

The gift she got from you, she carefully places in her living room, where she can look at it all the time. 

After dinner, you spend the night at her place.

You won’t be sleeping much, tho… ;)

Bruce

Bruce sees Valentine's Day as a chance to impress you.

Sure, you're already his, but he still wants to seduce you. 

He’ll have you sleep over the night before, and wake you up with breakfast in bed, and also give you the gift he’s brought. 

Might not be the best food, but at least he made it with love lol

Literally spends the whole day pampering you, making you feel like a royal, which is his only goal.

And you do the same for him.

Which is pretty easy. A couple of kisses, and you’re all his.

Which is why he got so emotional when you gave him a gift too.

The day is spent with home spa, watching movies, making out, and either ordering food or takeaway. 

Basically just a day where the two of you relax together and do other fun stuff, happy to have found each other.

Cameron

Due to her last relationship, she’s not that fond of valentines day.

She doesn’t see the point in being extra affectionate once a year, when you can do so everyday.

Still, you buy her a valentine's gift and surprise her with flowers.

She’s stunned at first, then flustered, and then smiles, pulling you into a kiss. 

As a thank you, she takes you out on a date.

Together, the two of you like adrenaline and action.

So of course, you either go to an amusement park, or go sightseeing on her motorcycle, with you sitting behind her, hands wrapped around her hips as she speed drives through town.

The rest of the day, you explore random places together, taking pictures and making memories. 

Cameron can’t help but just stare at you, feeling so incredibly lucky to have you.

You go to some cozy restaurant to eat. 

Once going home, it’s getting dark. 

The two of you can’t keep hands to yourself during the trip home

So you end up doing that at the most random place

Afterwards, you are cuddled up and stargazing. 

Although you’re supposed to watch the stars, you and Cameron only has eyes for each other, tbh <3

in the aftermath of the Winter Cup, your relationship with Akashi has certainly gotten much better, and dare you say, more intimate and romantic; though you were still healing a bit from the emotional scars from Teiko, they seemed to be going away faster than you realized, especially when everyone gathers for Kuroko’s birthday party

you were with Seirin, helping with the decorations and setting up the plates before Kuroko comes in the evening, but what no one expected was for him to bring in the GoMs

YOU’RE SHOOK AND YOU’RE BASHFUL SEEING AKASHI IN HIS WINTER ATTIRE, you’re getting MAD butterflies, but no one seems to notice because everyone’s attention is on the GoMs and Kuroko

of course Akashi was scanning the room for you first, and you immediately look away from his affectionate stare because you were still not used to the old Akashi, let alone his sweeter side for only you

Izuki notices how quiet you got and nudged your ribs with his elbow before telling a stupid pun… the thing is, you were one of the few people who genuinely found his jokes funny LOL

Akashi widens his eyes, staring at you laughing so unabashedly, and he feels really, really bad that he never got that level of a reaction from you whenever you were with him even despite knowing you for longer

now as the party goes on, Akashi is seeing your dynamics with Seirin for the first time and he’s just really grateful that you found an amazing support group during your low times; he’s not particularly someone to get jealous, but he’s getting a BAD case of FOMO because he’s thinking of all the “what-if’s” and all the times he could’ve made you happy and stress-free

“Akashi-kun?”

“Ah… yes?” Akashi snaps out of his daze to see a mild smirk coming from Kuroko on his right side, and Kuroko was about to ask a question about who he was looking at before a shout of “Watch out!” and a ceramic plate came FLYING across the table to hit the Rakuzan captain square on his face

CUE SCREAMS OF PANIC AS MOMOI PUNCHES AOMINE ON THE HEAD AND RIKO JUMPS TO STRANGLE KAGAMI, AND YOU LITERALLY ZOOMED TO HIS SIDE TO CHECK ON ANY INJURIES

see, he could’ve easily dodged it, and he supposed that it’s his fault for not paying attention and dodging on time

thankfully, the plate didn’t break because Kuroko caught the plate before it reached the floor and placed it back on the table

Akashi still has a bruise or two on his face though… and ngl, everyone gulped when they saw him checking out the injuries with a handheld mirror, ready to get their ankles broken

you were so worried over his safety, he finds it really endearing… but he wants to elicit an expression other than looks of worry or tears or anger (flashback to when you cussed him out)

“Wait, but (y/n)...” Koganei said. “Since when were you so close to Akashi that you didn’t hesitate to touch his face?”

a few moments of silence for everyone to register his words

“EHHHH?????!!!!”

everyone is throwing QUESTION after QUESTION at the two of you, and Akashi just has a neutral face with his mouth parted while you were so embarrassed LMAO

Kise being a real best friend, tells them:

“Alright, alright, everyone! Let’s not forget about the birthday boy! Kurokocchi should be the center of our attention today!”

“Kise, that’s…”

“Anywho! Let’s light up the cake and find those party poppers…”

after the party though, when you all return to school, Seirin was READY to jump on you for interrogation, and you do reluctantly tell them that you and Akashi are a tentative couple

Riko: “SERIOUSLY? I mean… that’s kinda cute though…”

Hyuuga: “I mean… yeah, as long as you’re happy, it’s none of my business.”

Teppei: “I hope he treats you well, (y/n)-san.” and of course he gives you his signature head pats

Furihata, Tsuchida, Kawahara: “??????????????????? But why?”

Koganei: “Huh, guess that explains a lot.”

Kagami: “???????????? pt. 2 LMAO” and also “What do you even see in him?” in genuine curiosity

Izuki: “ I guess you two dove into this relationship without hesitation, eh? Get it, get it? Because doves are a symbol of lo—”

“Izuki, shut the fuck up.”

“It means that you love (Ai)kashi—” [Ai means love]

“IZUKI.”

Kuroko simply pretends that this is the first time he’s heard of you dating Akashi, and he gives you his heartfelt congratulations, and as long as Kuroko approves of it, you feel like you’re on the right track (he’s such a good judge of character!)

you and Akashi actually live VERY far apart, considering that your schools are equally just as far in distance, but that being said, for our rich boy Akashi, distance isn’t much of a problem when he can easily find ways to come visit any time

he can also pay for your transportation to visit Rakuzan if you ever felt like visiting him too (although, you insist to pay for your own things, but he’s not having it because he says it’s a treat for him to see you too)

whenever Akashi stops by the Seirin campus to visit, he’s just kind of awkward standing there like the prince that he is, waiting for the perfect opportunity to walk in, but every time, he’d ALWAYS notice how you’re so happy being with everyone here, especially with Izuki, and his guilt just comes back full force again

he wonders if this was right of him to date you when there’s so much people who can easily do a better job in getting you to smile and be completely yourself, especially since he’s been the source of your anguish for all these months (maybe even a year or two if he was counting the duration of your entire crush on him that you assumed to be unrequited)

“Seijurō!” your voice rang out, beckoning him to walk towards you and the group

all of the Seirin teammates are so wary of him, and are all hyper aware of his movements LOL, and Kuroko is just like “hi, you’re back” very casually

Kagami uses this as a chance to challenge a one-on-one on Akashi

Kagami gets destroyed in a few minutes flat

the whole time you’re just watching Akashi with heart eyes, unbeknownst to him while he was focused on Kagami

after the interrogation and Akashi passing the “first stage” of acceptance, you and him find time to have a cute date at a local shopping district to walk around and sightsee

Akashi finds it fun, he really did, but there’s a part of him that thinks you’d have more fun with people who know you better… a.k.a. Izuki, or legit any other Seirin member

he’s visibly distracted by his own thoughts, and you wave a hand to his face, asking if this was too boring for him

“No, no, of course I’m enjoying this with you,” he muses, putting a gentle kiss to your temple. “Shall we get moving?”

“Something’s bothering you isn’t it.”

“No,” he chuckles, giving a gentle smile, but you only frown at him… once again he sees that you weren’t smiling at him

“I’m serious Sei, I want to get to know the real you,” you softly chastise, pinching his cheek. “So I also want you to speak your mind around me.”

“Oh ho… I see that your boldness is still very present here,” he says in referring to your touch.

“Oh my god, can you drop it already? That’s so embarrassing—I cussed you out one time… hey don’t change the subject!”

“Hmm…” he hums for a bit before he comes clean. “I’m afraid that I might not be the right person to be worthy by your side after hurting you for so long.”

“... What makes you think that?” He hesitates, for the first time, not being so sure of himself and his emotions; he immediately thinks of Izuki and your good chemistry with him but dismisses the thought

“... I just do not think I’m capable enough to make you happy.”

“But you are. I’m very giddy to be with you right now.”

“Even happier than when you are with… your teammates?”

“Huh?”

“I apologize,” he hurriedly says. “They are your friends. I was out of line to question them.”

“No, no, it’s okay. Talk it out to me.” He’s uncharacteristically quiet as you both continue to walk and browse through the shops, and you carefully watch Akashi while he’s examining a few souvenirs on the display, patient for him to continue talking

“... the point guard.”

“I’m sorry?”

“Seirin’s point guard.”

“Izuki-kun? What about him?”

“While I’m aware that you only spend your time with him as a good friend… I want to spend just as much of a koala-ty time with you whenever we have the chance.”

he... says this with the straightest face, and you’re utterly confused before you saw some animal plushies on the store window, and the the koala plush, and then the cogs started turning in your head

“... Did you just say a pun?”

“Was it not sufficient?”

a few moments of silence pass and Akashi thinks he did something wrong because he wanted to make you smile (HELP poor captain), before you break into hysterics

between your fits of broken laughs and wheezes, you managed to ask if he was jealous of Izuki, to which he wholeheartedly kept denying until you wouldn’t stop being persistent

you reassure him over and over that he doesn’t need to act like Izuki to make you happy, but it was a pleasant surprise to see Akashi crack a “joke” nonetheless

he’s a bit new to the concept of dating and is still quite unsure of how to navigate this PLEASE GIVE HIM TIME

the date that day was a success (some of the Seirin teammates TOTALLY weren’t spying on you mid-date or anything…)

while Seirin is okay with you dating, visiting Rakuzan ALONE with the scary-ass captain and his “CROONIES” (hint: the rest of the team LMAOO) IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY

RIKO AND HYUUGA are just like:

“What’s wrong with him coming here to visit you? Why do you gotta do the effort to visit him?”

“Uh… because I want to…”

“Yes, but who would you call to help over if something wrong happens? You’d be too far!”

“Uh, Akashi can help me if something happens.”

“With what, his scissors?” Kagami gives a deadpan look, and everyone turns to look at him in utter confusion LMAOOO like what does this redhead mean by SCISSORS???

Kuroko immediately jabs Kagami’s sides to silence him and smoothly changes the conversation before anyone asks any more questions about the “scissors” and potentially make them more reluctant to let you go

oh Kuroko, being the mediator and negotiator as always, trying to set some safety protocols for you to follow before everyone finally agrees to let you go see the infamous team alone

you know, Teppei is honestly just like, “Just go! Don’t worry about our (y/n) too much!”

Furihata is so concerned for your safety for valid reasons, but you reassure him that you won’t “die from the trip,” and no, this wouldn’t “be the last time” they’d see you before you leave

so when you stopped by Rakuzan’s gym after school after looking at the online maps, Hayama lets out a screech of terror before he starts pointing at you and calling you the “crazy ass chick” who tried to have a first-row seat ticket to death LOL

Hayama’s commotion brought everyone else’s attention to you, and Akashi was very surprised to see you all the way here

but he’s just standing at the back to watch how his teammates are reacting to you

Reo is the guy who would welcome you very warmly and would introduce you to the other team members who aren’t the starters, and he would actually ask if you were okay from last time

Nebuya is very laid back and throws a few muscle jokes much to Reo’s dismay, and he makes a comment about not you possibly not eating enough because at the time, he saw you almost tripping up your feet after you cussed out Akashi… he offers you his extra bowls if you ever feel hungry VERY SWEET GUY

Mayuzumi thinks you have balls, like who the fuck would come out alive after cussing out his captain but then COME BACK to said school of the captain… like why would you willingly walk back into the lion’s den??? so he thinks you’re dumb, but he has a shred of respect for you

Akashi is so amused at the spectacle and finally walks over to you after you noticed him

and he gives you an embrace and a chaste forehead kiss, and the entire gym goes silent

“Sei! I wanted to drop by as a surprise! Did you expect me?”

“Hm, I may have expected you to come sooner or later, but definitely not this quickly. Were transportation fees too much of a hassle?”

“Nope! I got everything covered! Do you want me to give you any chiropractic massages if you and your teammates need it?”

“You don’t need to do that, (y/n). You came here as a guest, not as a manager.”

“But…”

“Shhh, as soon as practice is done, I’ll take you anywhere you want in Kyotō. How does that sound?”

“Er… captain?” Reo holds up a hesitant finger to interrupt the two of you, while everyone else looks horrified at the sight of their captain looking serene

“Get a room, will you?” Mayuzumi only tuts in irritation while turning away to grab a nearby water bottle to down in one go

Nebuya merely stares in astonishment at the two of you, and his mind is thinking how the hell did you reel in this guy?

nah man, Hayama is GONE at this point: his brain has stopped functioning a while ago, and he’s standing there as stiff as a statue, scratching his head like a lost monkey // like he’s thinking how the fuck did this shit add up?? in his mind, he’s taking 2 plus 2 but it somehow ends up 94… that’s how he’s processing what he’s witnessing

the rest of the benchers and lower-string players are confused? who ARE you anyways?? Akashi?? dating??? that’s Rakuzan gossip of the century

TLDR; your first trip to Rakuzan may be awkward because the two of you stick out like a sore thumb, but eventually after multiple trips, the team slowly begins to consider you as one of their own

as per Akashi’s “suggestion” (hint: not a suggestion, but a strong recommendation), you were to be retreated with respect and kindness

why? Because Akashi never wants a repeat of the situation at Teiko ever again :(

as long as he is captain, and as long as he has the power and authority, he will do everything he can to make you happy and comfortable

don’t worry though, the Rakuzan starters are more than willing to punt any kid who talks shit about you

surprisingly, once Hayama comes around and accepts the fact that you were dating the captain, he’d be the most adamant and vocal protector, and he’s the one who shares the “inside tips and tricks” about the captain EEEE it’s so wholesome !!

the Rakuzan team is your certified bodyguard group, no debate

Reo might be the nosy mom who asks about who confessed first and the like…

taeil takes you out to a nice restaurant first, but that’s not where he’s proposing, though. that was a distraction! instead, he takes you back home, where the members to helped him arrange a cute rose petal trail when you two were gone. the trail leads to the living room, where you see a box lying on top of the table. you walk over there to open up the box and inside, it has a bunch of things that remind you of the things you’ve done together, like that rock you gave him when you two went on a walk at the park because it was a pretty color or the plushie you won for him at an arcade. “you saved all of these?” you ask, going through the box. “of course i did, i keep them because they’re memories of our relationship,” he says. you smile at him. “and you know what i want you to keep as a memory of our relationship?” you raise an eyebrow at him. “what?” he gets down on one knee and pulls a ring out. “this,” your jaw drops. “are you asking me to marry you?” he nods. “yes, of course i will!”

johnny would take you a tourist attraction and pretend that you two are just there to go sightseeing, but he also has other plans in mind. “this place is so nice,” he says, taking pictures. “yeah, thanks for bringing me here,” you smile. then he puts the camera away and turns toward you. “so, you know how i said i wanted to bring you here because i wanted to check this place out?” you nod. “i also wanted to bring you here for something else,” he says. “what for?” you ask. he takes your hands and puts them in his own. “i love spending time with you, and i would love it even more if i could spend the rest of my life with you. so i brought you here to do this,” he gets down on one knee and pulls a ring out. “will you marry me?” you nod. “yes, of course i’ll marry you!” he smiles as he puts the ring on your finger. when he gets back up, you two share a kiss. “i love you.”

taeyong really wanted to go all out and make it special for you so he rented out an entire amusement park for you. “hey, let’s go on the ferris wheel!” he says. “okay,” and the both of you start walking towards the ferris wheel. as you two are making your way in, you see him give a thumbs up to the person working there, but think of it as nothing. “this is so fun,” you say, smiling as you look out on the entire amusement park as you two slowly get lifted up higher and higher. he admires the cute smile on your face. “i’m glad you like it,” he replies. the two of you enjoy the ride but then you suddenly feel the ferris wheel come to a stop once you reach the top. “uh... taeyong? what happened? why did we stop?” you ask. “so i can do this,” he says, getting down on one knee and taking out a ring. “wait, did you plan this all out? is this why you rented out an entire amusement park? so you could propose to me?” he nods at the question. “well, the answer is yes,” you tell him.

jaehyun’s proposal would be so romantic!!! he would take you out to an empty beach at night, when the moon is shining and when the wind is blowing, and you two would just walk on the sand together, holding hands. then he stops by the shore and takes his time admiring how beautiful you look in the moonlight and the way the your hair blows in the wind. “you know i love you a lot, right?” he says. “yeah, and i love you a lot, too,” you tell him. he smiles at you and then starts talking about all the moments you two shared together throughout your relationship. while he’s saying these things, you see him reach in his pocket and get down on one knee. “and i never want you to leave, so... will you marry me?” you happily nod. then he puts the ring on your finger. “it looks so beautiful,” you tell him, as he gets back up. “you look even more beautiful,” he says, pulling you close and kissing you on the forehead.

jungwoo decided to propose while you two were playing hide and seek. “ready or not, here i come,” you say, opening your eyes and searching the living room. after looking in the living room, you can’t find him so you go into the bedroom. but after going through your bedroom, you also can’t find him in there so you go to the kitchen. once again, he’s not in there so you try to search for him in the bathroom, which he also isn’t in. you feel like giving up until you pull back the curtains and see jungwoo standing outside. you leave your home and run towards him, but when you see him in person, he’s on one knee with a ring in his hands instead of just standing. “what are you doing?” you ask. “proposing,” he says. “but you’re supposed to be playing hide and seek with me,” you frown. “i wanted to surprise you. plus, this is more important. anyway, will you marry me?” he asks. “okay, i’ll marry you,” he puts the ring on your finger. “just letting you know, i won that round,” you tell him. “aww, i thought i had such a good hiding spot.”

mark’s proposal would be super cute! one day at home, he just comes up to you while you’re laying in bed and says “hey, babe, can you listen to this song that i wrote and tell me what you think?” so you agree and sit up as he takes his guitar out and starts the song. you don’t think of it as anything at first, since he’s just asking what you think of a song he wrote and he does that all the time, but when you pay closer attention to the lyrics, they remind you a lot of your own relationship with mark. at the end of the song, he sings, “so will you marry me?”, which catches your attention, and puts his guitar down. “that was so good, i liked it a lot,” you tell him. “really? so what do you think about this,” you watch him as he pulls a ring out. “wait, you were being serious with that song?” you ask. he nods. “you didn’t hear this part? ‘so will you marry me?’” he sings. you smile at him, “no, i did. that was my favorite part. and i’d love to marry you.”

haechan thought it would be funny to propose while you were in the shower. but he didn’t step inside the shower to propose! he waited for you to step into the bathroom, and after a while when he was sure that you would be leaving the shower soon, he carefully stepped inside and drew the words “will you marry me?” on the foggy mirror. luckily, you stepped out in time before the message disappeared, and you were understandably confused. “haechan?” you call out, sticking your head out the bathroom door. you see him standing in front of the door, quickly putting his phone away while waiting for you to come out, and reaching for a ring in his pocket. “so what’s your answer?” he asks, getting down on one knee. “haechan, what in the world is this...” he laughs. “sorry. i’m serious, though! what do you say?” you jokingly roll your eyes. “fine, i’ll marry you” you tell him. he excitedly puts the ring on your finger. “now go put some clothes on,” he says, blushing and looking away from you.

Day of Lights

I eh, very belatedly remembered I still had a blog entry to write about yesterday.  Oops! If you will forgive me, I was only back at the hotel near midnight, so I didn’t exactly feel like writing then anymore.

Sadly I woke up not feeling so great today, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have a blast yesterday. Let’s get to it – Disneyland day!

I had a bit of a late start for Disneyland, only prepared to leave hotel a little after 8:30 – the same time the park opens, and I wasn’t there yet. The trip was smooth however, so I made it to Maihama station a little before 10 and started my walk to the park. There was a surprise – mount Fuji was showing its face! And so clearly too that for a moment, I thought it was Mount Prometheus from DisneySea. But that one actually spits fire every hour or so, so it would make no sense to give it a snowy top, haha. Nope, the Fuji it was.

I made it to the part with 40 minutes to spare until the first parade, so I hunted down the churro stand and sought a good place to watch the parade. It was a busy parade day, since not only is it Christmas Season, Tokyo Disneyland is still celebrating its 35th birthday. So that meant 4 parades in total!

The spot I ended up choosing was possibly one of the worst, haha, but the Christmas Parade is twice a day, so I’d have another shot later. Walking around in the park and enjoying the views and atmosphere, I sought out the attractions. First up was my favourite during this season: the Haunted Mansion, which is redone in Nightmare before Christmas style starting around the Halloween season. The line was 40 minutes, so entirely doable, and led around the premises now decorated with pumpkins and Christmas hats alike. The attraction is a ton of fun and certainly a lot of work, they didn’t just throw in some Christmas hats and called it a day. A lot of the figures have been replaced by Jack Skellington and consorts, and Zero the ghost dog featured prominently (I love Zero, ssh).

So that was cool! I did some more sightseeing and had lunch (a very responsible burger, ahem, but it was shaped like Mickey) before searching out a better place for the next parade, the Dreaming Up 35th anniversary one. I saw this one past summer, but it’s really gorgeous with some unique floats, so I was happy I managed a good spot for photos this time. The Christmas parade was the same as last year, but this one won’t be around for as long. I don’t recall Aladdin and Jasmine being there at the very end, walking instead of on a float, but maybe it was to subtly promote the upcoming live action remake? I don’t know.

Anyway, that was fun, and next up was an attraction that got a make-over in time for the anniversary: It’s a Small World. The queue here was like 20 minutes, so perfectly doable – must not be a very busy day, I guess. They put in a lot of Disney figures in the remake, so it was a ton of fun spotting them all.

Once out of the park, I noticed several face characters out and about in Fantasyland. I never know with Tokyo Disneyland, sometimes I don’t see them at all (summer too hot, perhaps?) and other times I see characters I hardly hear about walking in the parks (like Esmeralda or Cruella de Vil, though the latter was Disneysea). I spotted Wendy and Peter Pan, and later Prince Charming on his own (what did he do with Cinderella?), Sleeping Beauty and her Prince, and the Evil Queen from Snow White, who mostly wanted to pose fabulously before she strode off, haha. Awesome.

Anyway, I had a goal: Philharmagic! I do so love Disney songs, and the 4D aspect is still great. I did get a little woozy at the segment where Donald rides a magical carpet, though.

Once out, I had a fastpass that I’d secured earlier. Just as well, because as I returned to the Haunted Mansion, the normal queue was 80 minutes! Eighty! Geesh, I love the Halloween/Christmas version too but that’s excessive for this ride, whoa. Even with my fastpass, it took a while to go in.

I was nicely in time for the second time for the Christmas parade now, and got lucky in that I scored a spot just in front of where the Beauty and the Beast float stopped for a good ten minutes, so that gave me some time to switch lenses and what not, haha. It’s a very pretty parade, if a little short. But with 3 different parades today, who’s complaining?

I went to get my picture taken near the castle including Christmas tree next, except the park members taking pictures had already gone, so I had to make do with a selfie, pff. It came out nicely, though, but still.

It was about time for a snack, so I went around the park to find the Special Churro – it turned out to be in Critter Country, which I visit so often that I had no idea I had to go through an underground pass to make it into the actual area, pfff. I always thought it was super tiny and stopped at the entrance of Splash Mountain, but nope! Entire area behind that! Anyway, the churro was purple and supposedly tasted like cotton candy. I don’t know, it was good, as was the hot cocoa I got to go with it.

With darkness setting in, the park transformed into a Christmas spectacle with tons and tons of light, amplified by the extra lights already there for the anniversary. In the dark, I maneuvered to  the Enchanted Tiki Room with Stitch and a bunch of singing birds. I was getting really tired, so when the park member asked me if I wanted a subtitle device, I didn’t even realize what he was asking at first, oops. I happily accepted, if only so that I could finally understand the play 100% (it’s usually around 80%, and I’m guessing 60% today with how tired I was getting. I do think I’m slightly under the weather this entire trip). Anyway, it’s a lot of fun and I absolutely do not care it’s technically for little kids, I love the songs and Stitch. Aloha! Also, I forgot to mention, but the benches in the waiting area were heated. I love them. It was getting rather chilly and I could use some warming up.

On my way to Adventure land, I played a ball game that I hopelessly lost, but I got a cute exclusive pin for my efforts, which was probably the easier thing to take home with me anyway, haha. (The prizes were pretty big plushies of Minnie or Mickey.)

I resisted the huge and soft Simba plushies and went to Pirates of the Caribbean, where I got put in the front row by myself.  That did give me an excellent view, but the splash early in the attraction is still a bit much for me, haha. As you can tell, I’m not in Disneyland for all the wild rides…

It was now time for the nighttime parade, Electrical Parade Dreamlights, which really profits from being made over last year, and spotted some extra Christmas additions. I sat a lot closer than the last couple of times, although right in a corner, so I got some good photos! I felt a bit bad about flashing with the camera, but I saw more flashes around me and they sold those light-up sticks by the dozen, so not just me at the very least.

I hadn’t had time for dinner before, so I rushed to get a cheese dog menu (so responsible), and from my seat I had a good view of the (short) fireworks show, which had some interesting fireworks and really seemed to move with the beat of the music, so that was nice little bonus!

I’d had coffee with my set, so I had enough energy to get up and walk again, taking pictures of the scenery on my way to It’s a Small World, followed by Philharmagic again, and then one last rush to Haunted Mansion at 15 minutes before closing, haha oops. I think I made it in with the very last group, meaning I could just rush right into the hall of exposition. Take that, 80 minute queue! Just – wait out the entire day until you may or may not get lucky in the evening, hm. Well, strategy works for me!

Finally, they started to announce the park was closing the minute I got out, so I did as I was told and left the premises (sniff), but not before enjoying the light show in the World Bazaar. So pretty. I think I filmed the whole sequence!

After a quick trip to Bon Voyage, the store before the park (and resisting the Simba plushie, but not a cute little Christmas ball), I made my way to the station and caught the train back to Ikebukuro until finally, I made it to my hotel at eh, 23:30, roughly. Oops.

 So that was a wonderful day, if very tiring, haha. Today was a lot calmer (and my camera hasn’t been out of its jacket yet, oops), so I’ll type up a quick report for that too. But that was Disney during Christmas! I’ll try to filter through the – eh – 586 pictures I took. Oh dear. It might take a while before the selection is up…

Second Chances (PT.2)

First Part

Apparently, it is okay to give the crazy man the heavy tools. Ah. Desperation drives men to do illogical situation. The flat is a mess. The wiring system doesn’t know which way is up. Water damage, too. The pipes should all be replaced, some are even rotted. The heater out of everything is simply the worst off. She is Tony’s favorite. He has dubbed her Betty. And don’t think for a moment that Tony won’t fight both small Steve bubbly Bucky about it. This is mountain he will die on.

Wouldn’t be the first time.

“Home a bit early.”

“What about it Stevie?” Something bangs against the floor.

“Been fired enough times and it’s old hat, eh. What was it this time?”

“Fuck off.”

The walls are pretty thin too. Probably don’t protect much from the elements. Or sound. The sound is very clear. Insulation is always a must. But would require tearing down the walls.  

“Buck!”

“What Steve? What? I’m not the only one home early. Let’s hear it. What’s your grand reason?”

“He was a bully.”

“That’s what you always say.”

Should Tony tear down the wall? Something which is usually frowned on by most. Or he could smack the pre-serum fools heads together with a wrench. The wrench they gave Tony for emphasis. The wrench is a more satisfying solution.

“Why are you both like this? Communication is important. Communication, not squawking at each other.” Jabs a finger at the smaller brat. “Bucky got drafted. And the box is not your friend. There is always another option.” Metaphoric wrenches still count. Just not as satisfying.

Tony returns to the heater, the most sensible existence in the room.

“Drafted?”

“Fuck you.”

The door slams or it would if it wasn’t wet cardboard. But that fact should be ignored to respect the sentiment of the door slam. He was raised properly after all.

Bucky curls himself toward the couch or a mass of fabric and wood that strives to be a couch. Tony isn’t sure. Never built a couch before, but it can’t be that hard. Something plushy.

“Shouldn’t you have been the one to storm out?” Bad mouth. Don’t get involved. Not with emotions. Emotions bad.

“Things have always been a little backward between us.”

Kay~

Not how someone would usually describe their relationship but who knows what Tony would say if asked to describe his relationship with Rhodey. Or Pepper. Or the Spider-kid.

“Long as your happy.”

“He’s family.”

“No. I get that. Better than you know.”

“Speaking of which-”

Danger. Danger Will Robinson! Distract. Something. Set something on fire! No. Bad plan. Who knows if this building has sprinklers. Or a fire escape. Panic. Maybe try panic. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Panic solves nothing. But there’s nothing to fix!

“How ja know my name? Or that I was drafted?”

“I am not a stalker!”

“Nobody said you were.”

“Good. Because I have never stalked someone against their will in my life. Information is just one of those things that happen. Okay. Taste the rainbow of the future. And accept the horrifying unknown.”

The biggest problem with all Bucky’s question is that Tony has no way of knowing what sort of time traveling situation he is in. Is this the time travel where you fuck up a little thing and everything is fucked up. Or is it where all fucks up are inevitable so you might as well fuck up. On the other hand, considering the future Tony comes from everything is already fucked up. So Tony should fuck something up. Or Tony already fucked it up and that is why the future is fucked up. Master of the fuck up any variation is possible.

Then again you’d think Steve would have mentioned the whole ‘we’ve met’ thing. Unless Tony looks really different now than when they first met. Or met again. Maybe he hasn’t aged well. He doesn’t sleep much. There is also all the stress. Maybe being a silver fox was an unreachable dream. A dream dashed against Captain America's hard pecs.

“Do you think I’m ugly?”

“Now, mister, don’t try-”

“Cause I swear I used to be handsome.”

With an expression that Tony has come to expect from Pepper or Rhodey, Bucky exhales a liter of happiness. “You’re a beautiful man, Tony.”

“You mean that?”

“Yes.” And Bucky probably does. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to flatter Tony. He has nothing. He is nothing. Nothing! A normal person.

“I deserve a vacation.”

“Sure. You seem stressed.”

“Exactly. I am officially starting my first vacation.”

“First?!”

Bucky, surprisingly quickly, seemed to have reached the acceptance stage of knowing Tony Stark. The quickest after Rhodey. Rogers always seemed to be stuck between the anger and bargaining stages. Bucky’s leaning against onto the couch, hoping it would share some of his weight, and watching Tony. Yet a part of him is drawn to the door to chase after Steve. To apologize? Did Steve have that effect on people even while Skinny?

The serum makes everything more.

God. Tony could use a vacation. But everything that can be fixed, is fixed. At least by Tony’s current means. Everything else is more bulldoze the building and start from scratch. Fresh smart building with AI.

“I’m bored.”

“Already? Maybe you should try relaxing.” Bucky pats the cloth-wood pile, a gesture to incite sitting on said pile. Probably not an invite to fix or build a new couch. Or to set it on fire. He probably even attached to the pile. Tony had his couch since the MIT days.

Clearly, the only option is to lay on the floor in a starfish pattern. Staring at the ceiling Tony notices, even more, water damage. That and the feel of Bucky laying on the floor next to him. Rhodey used to that too.

“Try breathing.”

“Breathing and me, we’re no good. Maybe I started it with all the smoking but they're a dick now.”

Strange wheezing noise emits from Bucky. “Sure. What do you usually do then?”

Drugs, sex, and throwing away money have always been a bit of a lie. Fun sometimes but mostly a great excuses for self-pity. Programming and robots were his first pick when stressed for as long as he can remember. But it also work. You are not supposed to work on vacation.

“Work.”

“What about a hobby?”

“Work that benefits my friends.”

“How about something that benefits you?”

Flying. Once. “I don’t know.”

“Stevie has art.”

Aunt Peggy’s stories often came with illustrations. Pages and pages and pages of singed, dirty, stained, ink smeared and torn paper. Doodles of monkeys dancing on stages. Cartoon shorts of the Howling Commandos. Cute colored images of Aunt Peggy with a gun or punching a Nazi. Jokes about this Hydra base or the other. Tony used to relate to those colors.

“I am aware.”

“Sure. Sure. I like to dance.”

Ripped tutus scattered on the floor and a broken nose from being shoved too hard into a wall. “Stark men don’t dance.”

“Okay, Stark.”

“Don’t call me that.” Tony sits up. He can’t stand the floor. Too cold. Too hard. Losing his breath and his heart pounds too loud against his chest. Louder than thunder. Louder than a bomb. Louder than someone pounding the ivory keys of a grand piano.

“Sorry. Tony.” Bucky sitting up too. Wearing the same face his going to wearing that freezing bunker. “So I need a new job.”

“Something to occupy the hands and the mind are always good.”

“Sure. Sure. You could help. Sightsee New York while we’re at it.”

Well, can’t say Tony has ever seen 1940’s, New York. Considering he wasn’t born yet. Didn’t see much of New York at all when got shipped off to boarding school either.

“Sightseeing is a vacation thing.”

“A classic vacation thing.”

“Alright, James. Let’s find you a job.”

“James.”

“Well, I can’t right call you Bucky or Buck now can I?”

“Whatever you say, Tony.”
