cardigan arknight's new skin is really cute. i think i would like to have it. too bad it arrived as a reward in an event that started with me unable to play the game, and will end while i am in the middle of a break i am not really in a hurry to get back from. i just can't take any more base management, my dudes and/or dudettes. i am so exhausted by swapping people in and out of workshops and dorms, and making sure my sanity doesn't cap, and that i get all the dailies done so i make sure to get the annihilation autoclear chip, and make sure i do that the requisite amounts each week to cap my orundums, and send clues, and receive clues, and spend clues, and make sure my friend credit is below 300 before reset, and oh yeah i forgot to keep my recruitment timers going and i capped those refreshes again, and it's sunday so i gotta make sure i spend up any sanity pots i have kicking around, and and and
like i enjoy the game, but the daily habit gacha format keeps me so exhausted by busywork that i rarely actually feel motivated to spend more than busywork-time in it. once i've watered the petunias and fed the ducks and done all the other little chores that need tending to, i don't want to sit and start reading story chapters i haven't done yet or attempting ex stages that i'm neglecting in whatever event is going on.
i don't know if i'd actually get more into it if it was, as a whole, a bit more focused on its core gameplay, and less on the two dozen spinning plates of its surrounding meta-systems and its federation of interwoven micro-economies. that version of the game doesn't exist, so i have sadly yet to play it. so while i can't say for sure that i'd enjoy it more, i really do think i would.

Do you think an auto system can be implemented in a game like FGO? Obv. it would never happen cause the game devs want us to suffer- but playing other games that do have some sort of auto, it makes farm heavy events in FGO feel like a massive chore (at least to me?).
I don't think so. This is a gut feeling with entirely no basis, but something tells me they never figured out how to record the RNG distributing the cards after a successful run and that's why we never got autobattle.
And even then, since damage dealt is still affected by RNG, (have you ever noticed that if your damage is barely enough to kill an enemy, running the exact same moves again could sometimes leave them alive with just a bit of health?) autobattles would be difficult to get right due to how much that kind of shit affects things like NP generation or star generation. What if your record says you casted an NP here, but because your damage roll fucked up and you didn't get the overkill bonus, so your servant only has 97% NP? It's not like Arknights where the autodeploy puts up a warning and moves on to the next set of recorded moves while attempting to cast the skill as soon as possible, an autobattle for FGO would need to pick between the facecards, further distancing itself from the recorded run.
The most hassle free autobattle FGO could implement is just skipping straight to the end each time and dealing out rewards, which is never happening.
