Drama 36
Goblin  Not to long ago some friends of mine saw Train to Busan and a couple days later one of them recommended me this drama. This was a really nice break from school work. I liked the story, not only the fantasy part and fated problematic-romantic destiny of the main couple, but all the twists as well. On several occasions they could have natural endings of the show, but suddenly some new problems/things happened. And quite a few times at that. The soundtracks are mesmerizing and going on repeat and I wasn’t really surprised that I liked it when I saw who the writer is - Kim Eun-sook (Descendants of the Sun, the Heirs, Secret Garden). I’m so checking out more of her work!  Title: Goblin / Guardian: The Lonely and Great God Director: Lee Eung-bok, Kwon Hyuk-chan & Yoon Jong-ho Language: Korean Genre: Drama, fantasy, romance Episodes: 16 + 3 specials  Distributor: tvN Release year: 2016  Synopsis:  Kim Shin is a Goblin who is cursed with immortality and uses his powers to help others. He lives together with a Grim Reaper who has amnesia and can't remember his past. To end his immortality, Shin must search for a human bride who can pull out the sword in his chest and return him to ashes. He meets Ji Eun Tak, a high school student who, despite her painful reality, remains optimistic and ends up falling in love with the Goblin.

Fractale Hmm. This was okay, nothing more, nothing less. Just plain okay. The story didn’t catch me as much as I wanted to and even though 11 episodes isn’t that much I felt it took quite some time to get through. I do like the Fractale scheme, so much they could have done with a made up city! But not this time, at least not for me. Other than that, an okay science fiction I guess?  Title: Fractale Director: Yutaka Yamamoto Watched language: Japanese Genre: Adventure, fantasy, science fiction Studio: A-1 Pictures Episodes: 11  Release year: 2011 Synopsis:  The story takes place on an island, where a "Fractale System" is beginning to collapse. One day, Clain finds an injured girl called Phryne under a cliff. She disappears leaving a pendant. Clain sets out for a journey with the girl-shaped avatar Nessa to look for Phryne and discovers the secret of the Fractale System.

Death Parade I’ve wanted to watch this for a while, it’s Madhouse studio who’s behind it and they have some of my favorite animes. Like Death Note, Nana, Paradise Kiss, Tokyo Godfathers, Wolf Children and Chihayafuru, to mention a few! The art style is pretty nice, the music suits the show perfectly, and the story, God the story. It may sound kind of weird, with the arbiters deciding your fate for the afterlife, but as you watch the story and smaller stories really get to you. Good or bad, there may be more to people than you think. The two last episodes were so worth it! And it’s a short story as well!  Title: Death Parade / Desu Parēdo Director:  Yuzuru Tachikawa  Watched language: Japanese Genre: Drama, mystery, psychological thriller Studio: Madhouse Episodes: 12 Release year: 2015 Synopsis:  After death, there is no heaven or hell, only a bar that stands between reincarnation and oblivion. There the attendant will, one after another, challenge pairs of the recently deceased to a random game in which their fate of either ascending into reincarnation or falling into the void will be wagered. Whether it's bowling, darts, air hockey, or anything in between, each person's true nature will be revealed in a ghastly parade of death and memories, dancing to the whims of the bar's master. Welcome to Quindecim, where Decim, arbiter of the afterlife, awaits!
