I feel like the whole representation in media discourse, important as it is, has rotted people's brains to the point that they always suspect any detail they see on a screen is trying to actively indoctrinate them and the only antidote is to immediately repudiate the 'bad media' via a long pseudo-analysis about 'oh hoho I see writer of show did a thing! the thing might be problematic! but this sneaky propaganda does not work on me for you see I know buzzwords'

#and I don't mean this to be rude but #99.9% of the time it's posted by someone who is not unintelligent but #whose intelectual development in some aspects never graduated past their high school AP history course telling them nazis bad US good #yes in 99.9% of cases it is americans who do this #and they may consider themselves educated on the evils of US imperialism et al and yet #their understanding despite all of this manages to be so deeply lacking #it's just tedious #and I promise you that writing down all the reasons why you didn't like a tv show is not activism #ok vent over
