There is a big gap in difficulty between DD and EX, that said. In DD you get a chance to get on your feet...in EX, there are no rails or training wheels. Your opponents can will triggers to the top of their deck at any time, where in the early portions of Yuki's story in DD your opponents nearly never (even with Don't Hold Back active) get triggers.
