POC artists: *creates a song that talks about the oppression and systematic racism they themselves or others like them suffer from/have to deal with, how it's progressed throughout the years and how many poc still have to fight to be seen as human*

Some video/edit creator: "Hey, this is such a cool song! I think it would perfectly for my cutesy edit that literally has nothing to do with the topic that the song is about. Better yet, why don't I even change the lyrics to fit as well!"

#like this irks me so bad #why are you using mj's “they don't care about us” for your star wars edit and making it about the sw universe?#why are using it for hotd edits and centering it around majority yte characters? completely ignoring the message behind the song #why are you switching the tone “this is america” to something soft and uplift to pair with a soft edit of a yte character?#like thousands of other songs to choose from and you picked the one about racial injustice?!#and im not saying that you cant use these songs for edits but why are going out of your way to change the meaning behind it #when you could make an edit that fits the message or find a song that fits what you're looking for?#this also isn't me coming at video editors either bc they put a lot of work into their craft #but is it reslly that difficult to find another song?#like a song knowingly about prejudice (often racial) and you want to use it for something unrelated? change the meaning behind it? why?!#might delete later
