“Magnificent Scuffling: The First Irish Collar and Elbow Matches in Over 100 Years”
youtube
“On 3rd August 2019, at the BJJ Globetrotters Summer Camp in Heidelberg, Germany, we held a training session in the old Irish grappling style of Collar and Elbow. Followed by the first Collar and Elbow matches in over a century. Five BJJ black belts, two Judo black belts, and one Luta Livre black belt all threw down and tried their hands at a style that, during the 17th-19th centuries, easily held the title of the most popular sport in Ireland.
Long story short: take the eponymous collar and elbow grips on your opponent's jacket, take them down, and pin them for 3 seconds to win.

S: Video unfortunately gets a bit out of focus every now and then, but let's just consider that a homage to 19th century camera technology.

“ Collar-and-elbow wrestling (Irish: Coraíocht) is a style of folk wrestling native to Ireland that can be traced back to the 17th century but it has ties to the Games of Tailtinn between 632 BC and 1169 AD.[1] Though originating in Ireland, the style flourished in America, Australia and Argentina. Collar-and-elbow features an array of trips, mares/throws, hip-locking, shin kicking, pinning combinations, and limited knowledge of submissions. “
From the wikipedia page on the style.
Ringen discussiongroup!  is a good place to check out if you’re interested in historical wrestling variants, as is  Scholars of Fiore dei Liberi.
The first group focuses on ringen, the second on armizare, the wrestling portion of which is called abrazare.
If you are interested in more modern forms of fighting you may want to check out the  Southpaw page and  Southpaw’s Mixed Marxist Arts Club group, both are places with also joking and relaxed topics but also links to techniques, discussions on training approaches, advice on how to get started, sparring videos and more.
