And new video of 𝗧𝗼𝗺 learning more Jiu-jitsu techniques with 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗶 in Las Vegas, uploaded a few hours ago 🥋 He is wonderful ❤️‍🔥
Oh, that tattoo on his left leg... What could it be 👀? I don't know if we will know someday 😆 In some photos it looked like 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘆 (his dog, may he rest in peace 🙏🏻)
By the way, certain moments in the video... 🔥

Wait, you do jiu jitsu?
I do yes! Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! I also do Muay Thai, but not as much. BJJ is how I get the vast majority of my exercise, I train roughly 9 hours a week and have been doing it for the past few years. I’m currently a blue belt as you probably saw in this accurate picture of me at Jiu Jitsu.
Tumblr media
I have a bit of a reputation there of being “tiny but vicious.” I don’t mean to go so hard but when the average height difference between you and the other guys is 8 inches and the average weight difference is probably 50+ pounds, I guess you gotta make up for it somewhere lol 😂
To be fair though most of it comes from me asking literally anyone to fight me. I don’t really see bigger people as intimidating(probably bad) since I’ve got enough cobbled together skills and muscle to mostly get around their size(granted their usually not going 100% on me). I’ve been shooed away by the coaches a few times cause I’ll ask a newbie to roll with me, lol
I enjoy it, though! I have lots of friends, some are much older than me, some are a little younger. Everyone is very nice and supportive of each other and it’s overall a very fun way to get exercise and martial arts training! :]

mostly academic discussion of kink (specifically choking/strangulation) below cut
so i saw (and just reblogged) this post going around about how consensual (erotic) choking/strangulation is always edgeplay, because it's extremely dangerous
and I'm honestly a bit confused: I've never done erotic choking, but I have consensually choked people and been choked a lot--it's kind of a major part of BJJ (the grappling part of MMA)
blood chokes, air chokes, on the giving end and the receiving end, I must have done this dozens if not hundreds of times in the past year alone
and I mean, you're meant to tap early and trust your partner to do the same ("tap early, tap often" as the saying goes), but I've never heard of chokes being particularly dangerous--
in fact people will often say things like "tap early especially for joint locks" (most submissions are either joint locks or chokes, so this statement is basically implying that chokes are the less dangerous of the two, so it's okay to fight them a little more before giving in)
also my gym has bjj classes for like 8 year olds, and I'm pretty sure they also learn chokes? (though admittedly I've never watched the kids classes; I've only ever seen them from a distance while in a different class myself)
(and anyway, kink also has a culture of tapping early (or safewording as it's called in that context), so I don't really see how the culture of tapping early would make the bjj version safer than the kink version?)
is this entire sport just massively downplaying the risks of one major aspect of it? what's going on here? (Also MMA people do talk about the dangers of concussions and stuff, so it's not like people just don't care health/danger etc)
I'm just surprised I've never heard of choking/strangulation being particularly dangerous

My toxic trait is that when I'm sparring someone in my jiu-jitsu class, if I'm very close to forcing a submission out of them but they're struggling and resisting a lot, I'll shush them and whisper "Come on. Shh shh shh, come on." like an absolute demon coaxing them to give in.

I once heard/read someone say that jiu-jitsu is just the art of folding clothes with people still in them.
So does that make Brazilian jiu-jitsu the art of folding clothes with people still in them, then sending the clothes to Brazil?
lol, what??
Not even kind of, I mean there are moves that use someone’s collar or sleeves as handles to use against them, but that it’s definitely not folding their clothes 🤣
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a modified version of Japanese Jiu Jitsu that was invented by the Gracie family. The design of the art is to be able to effortlessly take down an opponent and neutralize them. It focuses on ground fighting and ways to inhibit your enemies movement and survive attacks and horrible positions.
The point is to be able to take someone to the ground without hurting them, but be able to threaten irreversible damage to their joints, or to knock them out in seconds using what’s called a “blood choke” which is essentially a move that applies pressure to the arteries that bring blood to your brain and stop the flow of blood until your opponent passes out(if done well can be only about 10 seconds).
There’s actually a version of BJJ that you don’t wear a Gi (the thick, canvas uniforms) and have to work solely with hand and foot grips to move you opponent and ultimately submit them.
Not quite sure where you heard that one, I’ve only ever heard the joke that it’s just a bunch of dudes rolling around in their PJs pretending to kill each other (which is making fun of the fact that the uniforms are so comfy). Lol, that is really funny! 😂
Good question! XD
