Đại học Tây Ban Nha hủy sự kiện văn hóa Đài Loan do sức ép từ Bắc Kinh

Một học giả mới tiết lộ bằng chứng cho thấy chính quyền Trung Quốc tác động đến một trường đại học danh tiếng của Tây Ban Nha nhằm ngăn cản một sự kiện văn hóa của Đài Loan.

Đại học Salamanca, được mệnh danh là “Oxford Tây Ban Nha", đã phải từ bỏ một sự kiện liên quan đến Đài Loan vào tháng 10 năm ngoái, theo yêu cầu của Đại sứ quán Trung Quốc tại Tây Ban Nha, theo bà Shiany Perez-Cheng, người từng giảng dạy tại trường đại học này từ 2008 - 2017.

Một nhóm sinh viên của trường Salamanca đã lên kế hoạch tổ chức “Những ngày văn hóa Đài Loan” trong hơn 3 ngày 19, 25, 26 tháng 10 năm 2017. Nhưng sự kiện này đã không diễn ra và nguyên nhân của vụ việc chỉ mới được tiết lộ gần đây.

Với sự khích lệ từ các chuyên gia nghiên cứu về ảnh hưởng của Bắc Kinh, vào tuần trước học giả Shiany Perez-Cheng mới “dám” công bố những email cho thấy Phòng Giáo dục thuộc Đại sứ quán Bắc Kinh tại Tây Ban Nha đã yêu cầu Hiệu trưởng José Manuel del Barrio hủy bỏ sự kiện văn hóa Đài Loan nhằm tránh một “sự cố gây khó chịu” đến mối quan hệ của ngôi trường này với Trung Quốc đại lục, theo SCMP.

Bức thư ngày 23/10 của Đại sứ quán Trung Quốc viết: “Chúng tôi không muốn tổ chức của ông bị chính quyền Đài Loan lợi dụng làm nền tảng cho họ tuyên truyền chính trị, điều này sẽ ảnh hưởng tới mối quan hệ tốt đẹp của nhà trường với Trung Quốc”. Văn bản này cũng bao gồm một lời đe dọa “úp mở” đối với nhiều học giả Trung Quốc đại lục và sinh viên tại trường Salamanca.

Đại sứ quán Trung Quốc cho rằng Đại diện đến từ Đài Loan, Simon Ko Shen-yeaw được mời phát biểu trong lễ khai mạc của sự kiện ngày 19/10 là “có vấn đề”.

Ngay lập tức, Văn phòng Hiệu trưởng đã gửi chuyển tiếp email của Đại sứ quán Trung Quốc đến Ban nghiên cứu Đài Loan thuộc Chương trình Thạc sỹ Nghiên cứu Đông Á, nơi dự kiến tổ chức sự kiện. Một cuộc họp về vụ việc này đã được tổ chức sau đó.

“Khi chúng tôi tới Trường Đại học khoa học xã hội, tâm trạng ở đó khá ảm đạm. Họ đã thực sự sợ hãi, họ nói ‘Chúa ơi! chúng ta đã chọc giận Trung Quốc, Bắc Kinh sẽ trả đũa’”, bà Perez-Cheng đã cho biết trong cuộc phỏng vấn với tờ SCMP. 

Trong cuộc họp khẩn cấp, Hiệu trưởng José Manuel del Barrio thông báo: Trường đã liên hệ với chính quyền trung ương Tây Ban Nha về vụ việc, và nhận được “hướng dẫn cách giải quyết vụ việc” từ thủ đô Madrid.

Chiều 24/10, ông José Manuel del Barrio gửi một email công bố: Sự kiện văn hóa Đài Loan bị huỷ bỏ “do sự kiện không liên quan tới Khoa học Xã hội”.

Về thông tin vụ việc, quan chức Đại học Salamanca và chính phủ Tây Ban Nha đã không có phản hồi với yêu cầu bình luận của tờ SCMP. Đại sứ quán Trung Quốc tại Tây Ban Nha đã phớt lờ các câu hỏi được gửi qua email, theo ký giả Sarah Zheng.

Đối với các câu hỏi được gửi tới bằng fax, Bộ Ngoại giao Trung Quốc cho biết họ không rõ về tình hình, nhưng nhấn mạnh nguyên tắc “một Trung Quốc” là điều kiện tiên quyết quan trọng cho tất cả các nước có mối quan hệ ngoại giao với Bắc Kinh, bao gồm Tây Ban Nha.

Trung Quốc coi Đài Loan (Trung Hoa Dân Quốc) là một tỉnh ly khai, và phản đối bất kỳ mối quan hệ nào của hòn đảo này với các quốc gia và vùng lãnh thổ trên khắp thế giới.
