#wineoftheweek Château de l'Aumérade - 'Cuvée Marie Christine' Rosé, Cru Classé Côtes de Provence (2021) Château de l’Aumérade covers 300 hectares of vines across its beautiful estate, with 80 of those being awarded the title of Cru Classé in 1955. The Château has a rich history dating back over 400 years, however in 1932, a complete revamping of the estate by Henri Fabre and his wife Charlotte saw Chateau de l’Aumerade’s wine go from strength to strength. Unlike the heavily marketed Whispering Angel, the grapes used in the Marie Christine come from one single estate - Château de l'Aumérade. And, unlike Whispering Angel, Château de l'Aumérade is 1 of only 18 estates in Provence to be given a Cru Classé status - a certification for the winery’s excellent winemaking standards and the quality of the wine it produces! FUN FACT: Provence is the only region outside of Bordeaux to have developed this classification for its wine estates - the likes of Burgundy and Champagne classify vineyard areas rather than estates.
