Thought I should finish up today on a more positive note. And indeed the day turned out most enjoyably. As I was preparing to set off for Glyfada a friend from Ios contacted me & asked if I wanted to meet up. A rapid change of plans & I met up with @oioigeeza in central #Athens. After a great catch up over coffee, I dragged him to the art store & got my supplies and we ended up having a fabulous Indian meal near Syntagma. We passed this lovely piece of #streetart while I got lost looking for the art store. It reminded me of of the wonderful crab pasta I had at Lord Byron in Ios. Always a joy to meet up with Mark. Yay! Found my passport! Decided to calm down & think how I'd found Uli's German will against all odds. Using similar methods I tracked down my passport. Tell you what though I'm going to stick to my old safe place in future. Also I'm going to do a mega clear up when I get back from London. I spotted this #streetart when I was wandering through the streets of Athens with Mark trying to find the art shop. So much to look at in the centre. It's a beautiful sunny day today, but instead of going for a walk, I've stayed inside gelli printing. I'm loving it! This is a pic I took the other day of a bike in central Athens with pics from Clockwork Orange - one of my favourite films of the '60s? '70s? It wasn't allowed to be shown in the UK for a number of years so when I went to Munich & saw it was showing at one of the English speaking cinemas, I dragged Uli along to see it again. I hated that the films were all dubbed there. What's wrong with subtitles guys? We even saw a Monty Python film once in German - frightful, it lost so much of the quirky humour. I believe things have changed a bit now & you can see more films in the original version. Had such fun this afternoon with my #gelliplate. I'm no longer able to do the intricate designs I used to because of the sad state of my dodgy thumb & fingers so I had to look for a different way to express myself. Thought printing might be fun .... and it IS! Spent a few hours making the backgrounds for birthday cards I plan to give to family & friends. I've left most of my art materials on Ios, so I'll finish them off when I get back there. Well that's a first: went out to have a coffee & got caught up in this march/demo heading to the old Elliniko airport. It was an anti-fascist rally (I wish you'd look up the real meaning of fascism) in support of the refugees held at the old airport & protesting against the conditions there. A cause I fully support. When I was younger I'd have probably joined the protesters, as it was I had my coffee & returned home feeling guilty that I hadn't.
