Neil Gaiman ( @neil-gaiman ) in Neil Gaiman Answers Mythology Questions on Twitter | Tech Support | WIRED video
[ Image description: a series of screens from a video of Neil Gaiman sitting and answering the question with subtitles. He says “‘Could I ride Minotaur like a horse?’ No, obviously, you could not. You could ride a Minotaur like a man (…) Unless you could find a Minotaur into sort of pony stuff or you probably have to find a furry minotaur, like, not a furry Minotaur, a Minotaur who was actually a furry, would get into a horse costume and get down and you could ride that one.’ End of image description. ]

“It may be relevant that I’m Catholic, and so supernatural events are not entirely ruled out. One time I was going to write a book which was sort of ‘The Exorcist in San Bernardino.’ … I got a book by Malachi Martin which was actual transcripts of exorcisms—dialogues between priests and devils—and I thought, ‘Cool! Wow, boy, I’ve got all my research right here. This is great.’ And I opened the book, and on the first page it says, ‘The author and publisher advise that anyone reading this book say the following prayer before and after each chapter.’ And I slammed it shut and thought, ‘Well, I don’t need that. Uh-uh. I ain’t doing that.’”

not sure how to tell you that i actually adore the sanderson wired article
From a pure, absurd, “what the fuck am I reading” sense, then yeah.
It’s almost perfectly crafted to be taken completely unseriously, with bizarre internal revelations about the writer’s narcissism, dismissive and ungrateful attitude. It felt like a Onion Article that never made it to publication.
From… any other standpoint, it’s uncomfortable and awful to read. Just the anecdote from how the writer talks to Sanderson’s fans, it feels like they have such confused disgust for them.
I don’t even like Brandon Sanderson. I don’t hate him (although his comments about religious law make me really grossed out), nor do I like him (though his books are decent).
But I feel like anyone could have written a better article than that one. Hell, I’m a crappy writer, I could have done it better
