if you want to print something out at staples heres what you gotta do.
send an email to our email server with the document attached. forwarding an email with the attachment in it doesnt work you MUST compose a new one.
wait a few minutes to receive an email with the release code for that document.
go to the printer. the touchscreen is normally dark and doesnt look like anything. intuit that you have to tap on the screen to turn it on.
select either "copy", "print" "scan" or "fax". if you select the wrong one you have to start over.
a screen will come up saying your payment card needs to have at least $5 on it or it will be declined and you have to hit the accept button to advance. if you're not really paying attention it might look like it's telling you that youll be charged $5 to print no matter what.
put in your credit or debit card. the machine does not accept cash or contactless payment. if you dont have a card you have to cancel the transaction and ask me for a gift card.
then the printer will ask you if you want to sign up for staples rewards. most people have no idea what is being asked of them at this step because nobody gives a single fuck about staples rewards and they fail to see the itty bitty "skip" button in the corner.
now you can enter the release code that got sent to your email. by default it has some nonsense selected so you may not realize you have to choose either the option to scan the barcode they sent you or type your code out manually.
it will ask you which files you want to print but it will only display file names and no preview. for some reason it will always include your email signature (99.9% of the time its just a single line of text that says "sent from my iphone") as its own separate file titled "mailbody.html" that you have to deselect if you dont want to waste a sheet of paper.
now you can finally adjust your print settings. by default the color option will be set to "match originals" which will automatically charge you the price of color printing (78 cents per page) instead of black of white (25 cents per page) even if your document is in black and white so make sure you change that.
despite the ample room on the display, one of the most common other options people want to change, single sided vs double sided printing, is not visible unless you hit a little tiny arrow button on the side of the screen to display more options that you didnt even know was there.
ok now press the big green button! it will show you how much it will cost first and then you have to press "confirm" AGAIN for it to print.
congratulations! see how easy and simple that was? now imagine you're getting paid minimum wage to walk people through this process dozens of times a day, many of whom are elderly and/or barely speak english, all while also trying to finish 15 OTHER print orders that were placed online that are due in a couple of hours. How to Send an Online Fax Using Software That’s Already On Your Mac
Your Mac actually already has a faxing application built-in. All you need is a modem connected to a phone line. If you’ve got that, then you can send a fax using your Mac by following the instructions listed here:

Step 1) Open the document you wish to fax, then go to File > Print
Step 2) Choose Fax PDF from the PDF pop-up menu, then select your fax machine from the Printer pop-up menu. Your fax machine doesn’t necessarily have to be a separate device. Check out the Apple Support article here for more info.
Step 3) Enter your recipient’s fax number by typing it into the To field. You can also select from your saved list of numbers by clicking the Contacts button to the right of the To field, where you then select a number.
Step 4) Some phone systems require you to dial an exit number to leave the internal network. If that’s the case, type that number into the Dialing Prefix field.
Step 5) You can include a cover page by selecting the Use cover page option. Then, enter your subject and message. It will appear on the cover page in standard text before the faxed document.

Step 6) You can change your options further by using the print options pop-up menu, which is the pop-up menu within a separator bar. You can use these settings to control how your modem behaves when faxing, for example. Just click Fax Modem. You can also choose whether to dial with touch tones or pulse tones, or whether you want to listen to the modem as it dials. You can ignore most of these settings if you like.
Step 7) Click Fax. Your fax will be sent to your recipient’s number.
That fax will be sent as soon as your modem is available. If you’re currently using your modem to connect to the internet, then your fax will be sent after you disconnect from your ISP.
