“Solvin Zankl carefully watches a two-colored mason bee build the roof of its nest.

Solvin knew the bee was memorizing landmarks around the nest so it could find it again. So as not to disorientate it, he edged his equipment closer each time it left. After two hours, the bee was using his equipment as a landmark. Two-colored mason bees use snail shells for egg-laying. They pack the shell with pollen and nectar for their larvae, then seal it with grass and sticky saliva. Humans sometimes consider snails to be pests, but this species could not survive without them.”

however. some cool things (that probably some of you knew abt already, but i did not!):

King Artus – "a 'Hebrew Arthurian Romance of 1279… Judaized and transformed.' […] Although the story in 'King Artus' is fairly straightforwardly Arthur’s as we know it today, there are little touches that tie it to Jewish literature. When, for example, Arthur’s mother, the Duchess, learns that her husband is dead and she has been deceived by the shape-shifting Uther Pendragon, she tries to figure out how that could be possible. 'No sooner had he gone more than a bow-shot’s distance away from the castle than the messenger came straight to my chamber.' That bow-shot’s distance comes not from Arthurian legend but from the story of Hagar, who sits a bow-shot’s distance away from her son Ishmael when Abraham casts them out and she does not want to see her son die."

Bovo-Bukh – "a chivalric romance adapted in 1507 by Elye Bokher (Elijah Baḥur *Levita) into 650 ottava rima stanzas in Yiddish from a Tuscan version (Buovo d'Antona) of the early 14th-century Anglo-Norman original, Boeuve de Haumton. This tale of the heroic adventures of the noble Bovo, exiled from his homeland by the machinations of his murderous mother, his wanderings through the world (as far as Babylon), and the love story of Bovo and Druzyana, their separation, his triumphant return home, and the final reunion with Druzyana and their two sons, proved to be one of the most beloved tales in the Yiddish literary tradition over the course of more than two centuries."

Vidvilt – "anonymous 15th–16th-century Yiddish epic. This Arthurian romance of the chivalric adventures of Sir Vidvilt (and his father Gawain), based on Wirnt von Gravenberg's 13th-century Middle High German Wigalois, proved to be one of the most enduringly popular secular narratives in Yiddish literary history, with numerous manuscript recensions, printings (the first in an extensively expanded version by Joseph b. Alexander Witzenhausen, Amsterdam 1671), and reprintings, in rhymed couplets, ottava rima (Prague 1671–79), and prose, over the course of three and a half centuries. The anonymous poet of the earliest Yiddish version composed more than 2,100 rhymed couplets (probably in northern Italy), following Wirnt's plot rather closely through the first three-quarters of the narrative (abbreviating much and generally eliminating specific Christian reference), before offering quite a different conclusion."

The mummy of a 6,500-year-old Peruvian boy was on display at the Ethnographic Museum in the town of Witzenhausen, Germany, which received the mummy in 1987 from a private donation and into whose hands it probably came as a result of "huaqueo" (grave robbing).The mummy had developed a type of mould that threatened to destroy it and was given to the Lippisches Landesmuseum in Detmold, Germany, where it was restored and is still preserved. Hence the name of Child of Detmold.

When she underwent a CT scan it was also discovered by dental examination that the baby had died when she was between 8 and 10 months old and suffered from a rare and serious heart condition: hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HHLS) in which the left side of the heart does not develop normally. He had vitamin D deficiency and an abnormally conical skull, not formed artificially, but as a result of an oxycephaly or premature closure of the coronal suture. Death possibly resulted from a collapsed lung due to tuberculosis or pneumonia and heart syndrome. The mummy of the Detmold boy was subjected to radiocarbon dating and gave an astonishing result. It was dated much earlier than experts had assumed. The Detmold boy lived and died between 4505 and 4457 BC, making him one of the oldest mummies in the world, if not the oldest. It exceeds that of Ötzi by more than 1000 years and is twice the age of Tutankhamun.

La momia de un niño peruano de hace 6.500 años se exhibía en el Museo Etnográfico de la ciudad de Witzenhausen, Alemania, que recibió la momia en 1987 procedente de una donación privada a cuyas manos llegó seguramente como resultado de un «huaqueo» (saqueo de tumba). La momia había desarrollado un tipo de moho que amenazaba con destruirla y fue cedida al Lippisches Landesmuseum en Detmold, Alemania, donde la restauraron y siguen conservando. De ahí el nombre de Niño de Detmold.

Al someterla a tomografía computerizada se descubrió además por el examen dental que el bebé había muerto cuando tenía entre 8 y 10 meses y que sufría una afección cardíaca grave y rara: síndrome de corazón izquierdo hipoplásico (HHLS) en la que no se desarrolla normalmente la parte izquierda del corazón. Tenía deficiencia de vitamina D y un cráneo anormalmente cónico, no formado artificialmente, sino como resultado de una oxicefalia o cierre prematuro de la sutura coronal. La muerte le sobrevino posiblemente por un colapso pulmonar debido a la tuberculosis que padecía o a una neumonía unido al síndrome del corazón. La momia del niño Detmold fue sometida a la datación por radiocarbono y dio un resultado asombroso. Su datación era muy anterior a lo que los expertos suponían. El niño Detmold vivió y murió entre los años 4505 y 4457 a.C. lo que lo convierte en una de las momias más antiguas del mundo, si no la más. Supera a la de Ötzi en más de 1000 años y le dobla la edad a la de Tutankamon.

Da qui il nome di Bambino di Detmold.

Quando è stata sottoposta a una TAC si è anche scoperto, tramite un esame dentistico, che il bambino era morto quando aveva tra gli 8 e i 10 mesi e soffriva di una rara e grave patologia cardiaca: la sindrome del cuore sinistro ipoplasico (HHLS), in cui il lato sinistro del cuore non si sviluppa normalmente. Aveva una carenza di vitamina D e un cranio anormalmente conico, non formato artificialmente, ma come risultato di una ossifalia o chiusura prematura della sutura coronale. La morte potrebbe essere stata causata da un collasso polmonare dovuto a tubercolosi o polmonite e da una sindrome cardiaca. La mummia del bambino Detmold è stata sottoposta alla datazione al radiocarbonio e ha dato un risultato sorprendente. È stata datata molto prima di quanto gli esperti avevano ipotizzato. Il bambino Detmold è vissuto e morto tra il 4505 e il 4457 a.C., il che lo rende una delle mummie più antiche del mondo, se non la più antica. Wir durften gehen.

Nach langem Hin und Her wurde entschlossen, dass wir wegen der Wetterbedingungen abreisen können.

Den Mietwagen haben wir einen Tag vorgezogen. Eine Sondergenehmigung zum Befahren und Entladen in einer Fußgängerzone haben wir auch erhalten.

Die Sachen packten wir nach und nach zusammen. Als alles im Auto verstaut war, überraschte uns noch einmal der Schnee: Das Auto kam nicht mehr so gut den Berg hoch.

Wir fuhren noch ein letztes Mal mit der Sesselbahn zum Restaurant hoch, um Arbeitskleidung abzugeben und alle zu verabschieden.

Mit vollem Magen konnten wir tatsächlich noch drei Stunden arbeiten, bevor wir uns dann auf den Weg machten.

Auf der Rückfahrt machten wir hier und da noch einen Zwischenstopp, um etwas Käse, Wein und Fleisch mitzunehmen.

Die Strecke war wunderschön. Wir fuhren durch tolle Täler und dann mit dem Autozug durch den letzten Berg, bevor wir wieder flacheres Land sehen konnten.

Auf der A7 wurde es dann langsam dunkel. Um 02:00 Uhr am 29.03. kamen wir an. Ich räumte meine Sachen aus dem Auto und ging ins Bett. Anna fuhr zu ihrer Mutter.

29.03.

28 Jahre alt bin ich heute geworden.

Ich habe den Tag größtenteils auf der Couch verbracht.

Es gab noch leckeren Lachs zum Mittag, dann vertrieb ich mir die Zeit mit Videos schneiden und Amazon-Bestellungen.

30.03.

UMZUG

Der Umzug von Anna steht an.

Ich stand um 07:00 Uhr auf und fuhr eine halbe Stunde später nach Kassel, um einen Transporter von Sixt zu holen.

Um 08:30 Uhr war ich wieder daheim und konnte gemütlich den Keller leerräumen, was ich auch tat, allein.

Als ich fast fertig war, kam Sascha vorbei. Er half mir, die Kartons sicher in dem Transporter zu stapeln.

Nachdem wir endgültig fertig waren, kamen noch Anna und Moritz dazu. Sie hatten die Schlüsselübergabe gemacht.

Wir fuhren dann zu Oliver und holten den Rest noch aus seiner Wohnung. Da kam Jörg noch dazu.

Dann ging es gemeinsam nach Witzenhausen, um einen Trockner und eine Waschmaschine zu holen.

Wir fuhren danach zu einer Freundin von Anna, um ein Bett zu holen, und der Transporter füllte sich so langsam.

Durch die Sondergenehmigung konnten wir mit dem Riesenteil die Langestraße befahren, was an einem Samstag ziemlich bescheiden ist wegen der Menschenmassen.

Ich lud den Krempel mit Moritz aus und brachte den Transporter zurück nach Kassel.

Dort traf ich noch Uwe, mit dem ich von einem Kanzleigebäude Bilder gemacht hatte.

Es ging zurück nach Hause. Ich ruhte mich aus und schaute mit meinem Vater "SAW X".

31.03.

Ostersonntag.

Ich räumte den Tag über den Keller auf, und am Mittag gab es Ente mit der Familie.

Den restlichen Tag verbrachte ich mit Aufräumen, Fotos anschauen und dem Sortieren meiner Technik, was alles mitkommt und was ich nicht brauche.

Witzenhausen est la capitale, au moins régionale, des cerises (Kirsche). La preuve, ils élisent chaque année depuis 1967 la Kirschenkönigin (ce qui a quand même plus de panache que l’élection de la reine des Quetsches chez nous en Lorraine). Dans la salle du petit déjeuner, il y avait les photos de toutes les Königinnen de 1967 à 2003, avec leur robe rouge… cerise et leur toute petite couronne. À 20 jours près, on était en pleines festivités !

Et donc, après avoir connu le plaisir suave d’enfiler des chaussettes pas tout à fait sèches pour les placer dans des chaussures encore franchement mouillées, les premiers kilomètres nous conduisent à travers les fameuses cerisaies (à l’époque de la floraison, le spectacle doit être magnifique dans la vallée). Les dernières cerises font le délice des oiseaux et les très vieux cerisiers celui des pics épeiches. Deux vigoureux lièvres folâtrent sur le chemin. Puis les choses sérieuses commencent avec comme échauffement le Sulzberg (298 m), puis le Schnellerskopf (412 m) et enfin le Rosskopf (482 m) avant de redescendre dans la vallée de la Werra. Au fil des ascensions, le ciel passe progressivement de gris menaçant à gris troué de bleu pour terminer franchement bleu. Quel bonheur après ces jours de grisaille ! Et une terrasse ombragée et zwei große Bier bien méritée nous attendaient sur la place du village après cette longue et physique étape. La cerise sur le gâteau !

Via Detour: Uber Umweg, Robin's Nest, Witzenhausen, germany .

An exploration of radio transmission/ receiver kinetic feedback on found metal.

This project lived in a german forest for three months acting as both an FM radio station and a feedback resonant machine. Antennae rumbling and activated by cyclic wiring in conjunction with transmitted sound being fed into the sculpture via surface transducers.

The media festival included 20 ish artists internationally and was programmed adjacent to Documenta 15 and had busses running from Kassel.

Wo Werra sich und Fulda küssen sie ihren Namen büßen müssen …

… offensichtlich nicht nur den Namen … Wasserentnahme, Aufstauung der Flüsse, Erhöhung des Verkehrsaufkommens …

„Hilfe, Witzenhausen soll eine Lkw-Stadt werden!

Die Papierfabrik DS Smith will mehr Platz für die Lastwagen-Anlieferung haben, und die B451 soll verbreitert werden: Ein Bürgersteig soll dafür weichen, viele alte Bäume gefällt und historische Natursteinmauern abgerissen werden, ein Kreisverkehr wird das Areal am Diebesturm entstellen. Längst laufen auch die Planungen für eine neue Brücke über die Werra. Tatsachen werden geschaffen, der Schwerlastverkehr soll auf der Straße bleiben.

Das alles ist keineswegs alternativlos. Eine entscheidende Weiche für einen anderen Verkehr gibt es bereits. Sie liegt kurz hinter dem Bahnhof in Eichenberg und ist noch intakt: Es ist der Abzweig zur stillgelegten Gelsterbahn, die direkt zum Firmengelände von DS Smith führt. Der BUND Ortsverband Witzenhausen/Neu-Eichenberg hat kürzlich im Stadtentwicklungsausschuss dafür geworben, die Strecke wieder in Betrieb zu nehmen. Mit der Trasse könnte zumindest ein Teil des Schwerlastverkehrs aufgenommen werden.

Angesichts der anhaltenden Klimakrise ist es ein Gebot der Stunde, den Verkehr umweltfreundlicher zu gestalten. Er muss rauf auf die Schiene. Letztlich ist jeder Lastwagen, der von der Straße runterkommt, auch ein Gewinn an Lebensqualität. Das Szenario, das Witzenhausen allerdings mit einer neuen Werrabrücke droht, ist ein Schwerlastverkehr im Minutentakt mitten durch die Stadt. Es wird mit täglich mehr als 1000 Lastwagen gerechnet. Das gilt es zu verhindern. Ein anderer Verkehr ist möglich!

La météo était formelle, nous aurions de la pluie toute la journée. La météo ne s'est pas trompée, nous avons eu de la pluie toute la journée. Oh, pas des averses cinglantes, non, juste de la pluie, tout le temps. Ça veut dire vêtement de pluie où l’on transpire, portable avec le précieux itinéraire difficilement manipulable, pieds trempés dès qu’on marche dans l’herbe, chemins forestiers glissants et gadouilleux. Pas âme qui vive non plus, hormis le chauffeur de bus qui déboula pile au moment où nous profitions de l’abribus pour faire le point et qui repartit tout dépité après s’être arrêté pour nous prendre. Un peu plus tard, nous ferons notre unique pause au sec à mi-chemin, sous le pont de l’autoroute. So romantisch!

Mais loin d’être aussi romantique que notre hôtel ! Un personnage en livrée qui tient une pancarte “Wilkommen” en haut du perron, deux armures qui encadrent la porte de la réception et notre chambre numéro 7 qui répond au nom charmant de « Malaika lodge ». Ambiance africaine garantie : masques en ébène au mur, moustiquaire au-dessus du lit, table de chevet éléphant, cloison en torchis blanc, ajourée de niches contenant des statuettes, et surmontée d’un toit de paillis, sièges en rotin genre colonial, bouclier en peau, tam-tam…

La chambre d’à-côté s’appelle « Cinderella suite ». Je n’ose même pas imaginer !
