Can we give a round of applause to the Buffalo Stadium Community Inclusion Task Force?
Last year, the state of New York agreed to give $850 million taxpayer dollars to the Buffalo Bills to build a $1.7 billion dollar stadium. Because New York taxpayers are giving so much to this project, rules were put in place that stated when the stadium was being built, “36% of construction contracts” were to be given to businesses owned by minorities, women, and service disabled veterans. When…

Josh Allen scores 4 touchdowns as the Bills comeback to rally past the Cardinals 28-34

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills had everyone at Orchard Park biting their nails till the end.
The Buffalo Bills were down 17-3 in the second quarter playing the Arizona Cardinals and came back at the last minute, beating the Cardinals 28-34, outscoring Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray 31-11  since the last drive in the second quarter.
Josh Allen completed 18/23 passes for 232 and 4 total touchdowns. Allen ran his touchdown late in the second quarter, putting them behind the Cardinals 17-10.
In the third quarter, Josh Allen threw two 11-yard touchdown passes, one to wide receiver Mack Hollins and the other to Khalil Shakir, giving the Bills a 24-17 at the end of the third quarter and their first lead.
Josh Allen scored another rushing touchdown midway through the 4th quarter; the Cardinals did not give up easily as Cardinals wide receiver DeeJay Dallas returned a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, pulling the Cardinals within 3 and trailing 28-31. The Bills would kick a Field goal to extend their lead 28-34 on the next drive.
On the final Cardinals drive at the Bills' 33-yard line, quarterback Kyler Murry three a pass to wide receiver Greg Dortch, which resulted in an incomplete pass with 40 seconds left in the game; a replay showed rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was wide open in the end zone on the same play.
The Cardinals failed to score on that drive and would lose 28-34.
Kyler Murray completed 21 of his 31 passes for 162 yards and rushed for 52 yards. Arizona dominated Time of Possession in the first half with 19 minutes, but derailed in the second half, only having 9 minutes in the second half.
Cardinals first round pick Marvin Harrison Jr. only caught 1 pass of just a mere 4 yards on three targets
The Cardinals completely lost the second half. Only scored a field goal and a kick return in the 4th quarter.
The Bills capitalized in the second half, The defense racking up 4 sacks and a Murray fumble. Throughout the game.
I am unsure where to start where the Cardinals were wrong, but you can't point fingers at Murray just for missing Harrison Jr. in the endzone; the whole team had another half of football to score a touchdown on offense but failed to so,
The Cardinals host the Rams next week, while the Bills will have a short week, traveling to South Florida to play the Dolphins on Thursday.

Moment tornado from Hurricane Beryl remnants rips roof off home | US News
The remnants of Hurricane Beryl ripped off the roof of a home in western New York on Wednesday (Pictures: WKBW) The first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season has dissipated, but its fierce remnants produced a tornado that ripped a roof off a home and other devastating weather. Severe storms from the remains of Hurricane Beryl struck Arkwright in western New York on Wednesday, tearing apart buildings and ripping up farmland. A video filmed from inside a home showed an enormous funnel cloud barreling toward another house across the street. As the tornado-looking system got closer to the home, it lifted a large chunk of the roof off and into the air. More miscellaneous debris was seen flying as people could be heard nervously reacting in the background, shows the video obtained by WKBW. Incredible video as the reported tornado ripped through a farm on Henry Road in Arkwright. The roof was ripped off. A barn was flattened. Homeowners tell me everyone is ok @WKBW pic.twitter.com/t1KgM653JK — Jeff Russo (@JeffRussoWKBW) July 10, 2024 The video pans somewhere else momentarily and after re-focusing, shows the twister moving away down the road. Brandon Mead told the TV station that none of his family members, whose property is along Henry Road, were injured. It was one of four tornadoes reported in the Buffalo metro area within a two-hour time frame. Two of them were EF-1 tornadoes and two were EF-0’s, according to the National Weather Service. There were no fatalities, but several people suffered minor injuries, WIVB reported. The town of Eden was under a state of emergency. The terrifying tornado moment was captured on video (Picture: WKBW) ‘Significant damage has been incurred at a number of farms, especially barns which are a total loss, and animals are injured,’ wrote Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday afternoon. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — This week marks one year since 47 of our neighbors were killed in the Christmas weekend blizzard. That significant part of Western New York history will be preserved in the Buffalo History Museum archives for generations to come. On Tuesday, the museum unveiled the Blizzard of 2022 Collection, a searchable archive available online at the museum’s archival database, found at this link. “It was our responsibility as a history museum to document that and to make sure that this history that we lived through last December was recorded so that way, future generations would better understand what happened on the 23rd and 24th of December of 2022,” Director of Community Engagement Brian Hayden said. “We gotta go. It’s getting bad out here”: BPD blizzard body cam footage shows dramatic rescues The museum began collecting hundreds of testimonies, videos and pictures in January following the deadly blizzard, curating them into the museum’s archival database found online. Buffalo History Museum Executive Director Melissa Brown said that the blizzard “left a mark on our collective memory, and now future generations can grasp the significance of this extraordinary storm through the perspectives of those who endured it.” “Yes, we collect from long ago. Yes, our exhibits have objects from centuries ago, but history is happening here and now, too,” Hayden said. “It’s up to us as a museum to ask the community to share their stories, their experiences, their memories, their media.” The Blizzard of 2022 Collection is part of a broader museum initiative of collecting from the present to create a record for the future. The museum is also showcasing other contemporary collections like ‘Chronicling Covid-19,’ a menu and cookbook collection and a historical record of the 5/14 massacre. The collections are a community effort that, Brown says, “ensures that the importance of today’s events will not be lost to history.” “We recognize that these blizzards are this extraordinary moment in time of challenge, of adversity and of resilience, too. So, by collecting this history now, not only will we be talking about it to the next generation, but we have a historical record now too,” Hayden said. The Museum is continuing to collect photos, video and audio recordings and written testimonials of the storm through an online submission form found here and will also consider objects related to the blizzard. Email Michelle Harris, Senior Director of Collections, at [email protected] with inquiries. More information about the collecting initiative can be found here. More Asylum Claims and More Illegal Crossings Along U.S.-Canada Border, Despite the Dangers
The number of people seeking asylum at the United States-Canada border or trying to cross into America has increased in the last year, which experts say is part of the larger global migration patterns they're seeing.
Tumblr media
U.S. authorities have repeatedly warned of the perils of crossing the northern border, especially in the winter months when temperatures can drop below zero and storms can aggravate the conditions.
“It’s extremely dangerous with the cold weather, the cold water,” Brady Waikel, in charge of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection station in Niagara Falls, told WIVB-TV of Buffalo.
Despite the dangers, more migrants, mostly Mexicans, decide to try and cross the northern border, the longest in the world at 5,525 miles. The border with Mexico measures 1,900 miles; then-President Donald Trump built 450 miles of border wall for about $1 billion.
The most up-to-date figures from CBP recorded 189,402 encounters at the northern border in fiscal year 2023. This includes people who arrive at legal points of entry and turn themselves in to request asylum, as well as those who are captured after illegally crossing into the U.S.
There were 10,021 arrests for illegal crossings in that period. According to an analysis by Noticias Telemundo, migrants from Mexico lead the number of illegal crossings from Canada, with 4,868 interceptions, up from 882 arrests in 2022. Other countries with the most migrant interceptions were India, at 1,630, compared to 237 arrests in 2022, and Venezuela, at 753, as opposed to five arrests the year before.
“We have exceeded 6,700 apprehensions in less than 1 year, exceeding the previous 11 years combined,” Robert García, head of the Border Patrol in the Swanton, Vermont sector, said in early September on X.
As of press time, CBP had not responded to Noticias Telemundo’s requests for an interview with García.
Although the figures on the northern border are modest compared to the 2,045,838 encounters that CBP recorded on the border with Mexico during 2023, experts told Noticias Telemundo the numbers are rising.
“Government immigration policies don't change the need or reasoning of people who decide to cross in one direction or another," said Shauna Labman, director of the Human Rights Program at the University of Winnipeg, Canada, who added that some people are fleeing and seeking protection and thus making "dangerous decisions."
Migration Policy Institute analyst Colleen Putzel-Kavanaugh said they're seeing high levels of migration around the world, the highest since World War II. "People are moving at a faster rate than in the past, and that is also seen in the north," she said.

Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy published a series of TikTok videos in October where he walked along hiking trails in Canada near Pittsburg, New Hampshire and crossed a stream into the U.S., saying it was easier than crossing the Rio Grande.
“Don’t just build the wall. Build both walls,” he said during the Nov. 8 Republican primary debate.
Regarding Ramaswamy’s proposal to build two border walls in the U.S., experts said it would be an extremely expensive — and ineffective — solution.
“I think it would not be viable for several reasons. One of them is that the barriers on the border between the United States and Mexico have been shown to not slow migration but, in fact, push migration into certain corridors where people can cross," Putzel-Kavanaugh said. "The other point is that the northern border has a variety of geographies with rivers, lakes, forests and that would be a challenge because of the environmental impacts."
Crossings Turn Deadly
Sometimes, the risk that immigration agents warn about is illustrated tragically: José Leos Cervantes, 45, originally from Aguascalientes, Mexico, collapsed after crossing the border into the U.S. from Quebec at the end of February and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
In March, eight people from two families, one from Romania and one from India, died while trying to cross the St. Lawrence River. Their bodies were found in Akwesasne Mohawk territory, which straddles the Canada-U.S. border.
Tumblr media
“It also happens that many people cannot find work in Canada and try to go to the United States. But it is very dangerous, there are always very tragic cases of people who lose their fingers, their clothes stick to their skin, and some die from freezing or for other reasons,” Camelia Tigau, a visiting professor at the University of Toronto and a scholar at the Center for Research on North America at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, told Noticias Telemundo.
Another aspect that complicates the situation along the northern border is that states have transferred migrants who entered through Mexico to areas near Canada, so they can request asylum in the neighboring country in search of better job opportunities, health benefits and a more nimble immigration system.
