First day of 6th grade. Home Scholars Program. This may not be ideal, as I know he would love to see his friends, but since children under the age of 12 can't get vaccines yet, this is really the safest thing. Hopefully vaccinations for the 5 to 11 age group come through pretty soon and then Maige can get back to his regular school with his friends, but until then, Safety First. Downside, he doesn't get to see his friends in person yet. Had to get that obligatory first day of school picture. Junior year, only one more year of this shit after this year, so we have to revel in the little moments. The kids usually don't dig them though, so when I told him to give me some sort of a junior year pose, whatever he wanted, like middle fingers up or something, he got super stoked and it actually put a smile on his face. Zero points for creativity, but 100% for enthusiasm. Again, we've got to embrace and appreciate these little moments, right? Kill it this year, dude.
