Check my California Poppy for the Plants and Flowers show @giantrobotstore curated by @cassloop. I stained the wood using watercolors again, I think the color transition turned out pretty nice. [WolfCat] of Wolfcatworkshop is creating a hand-animated split-flap animation. But what do you use to test your animation once it’s on the split-flaps? Well, to test it out, [WolfCat] used a drill to give it motion. DoodlersAnonymous has some pics and an interview with [WolfCat] about his animation and there are some pictures on his Instagram page. {Bottles 3}🍶🍶🍶 I've been a little shy to share stuff on Instagram lately. I feel like I'm a little unsure of the direction my drawing is taking. I mean, I like it, but it feels like it's moving. And I don't mean that because of my liberal use of Opera Rose, Cerulean Blue and French Ultramarine 😅. This sketchbook page shows how I’m often pulled in two directions: geometric patterns and free hand-drawn forms. I wanted to see what I could do with a simple square grid, the lines are a little wobbly and the heavy granulating watercolors make it look more organic, I like that contrast.

Also, I got myself a cute little #8 brush, I love it, it's an excellent all purpose tool.

🐸 More watercolor experiments with a page of frogs inspired by something I heard @hokansontaylor say once about swallowing the frog (kind of means just do it and stop procrastinating).⁣ ⁣ It's maybe based on something Mark Twain wrote:⁣ ⁣ “If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.”⁣ ⁣ I feel like more often than not it is the frog doing the swallowing. If you don't swallow the frog at least run away so it doesn't swallow you 😅🐸💚

I drew an imaginary plant on the wood of some very real terrestrial plants. ⁣ ⁣ This piece is made with Japanese Cedar (スギ), Japanese Torreya(カヤ), Katsura wood(カツラ), Poplar and Baltic Birch. I was trying to get some fun contrasting woods for the inlays.
