the "dark reunion is real au" started out as an au similar to canon but where all of kaidous jet black wings delusions are actually real and the saiki brothers are the leaders of dark reunion. but it has since revolved into an idea for a fic i'll never write that's like, a meta fic where the premise is that it's the original work to which the anime itself is a lighthearded ooc fanfic. and saiki is the edgy deadpan villain that became a fandom favorite and so someone wrote this comedy fic woobifying him and playing up some of the more edgy and horrifying elements of the source material for laughs in absurd scenarios. like, in the source material all of the things in saiki k that you think "hm that would be fucked if this wasn't a gag anime" are explored in extensive and horrifying plot-relevant detail.

DON'T KILL ME LET ME EXPLAIN

I like Kaidou. I like him a lot. I like him a lot because his flaws are really interesting.

I DON'T think he's really a horrible person.

but I did feel compelled to hit that square because the weaknesses of his character are both really fun to me and, while they get a LOT of screentime, I feel like I and I can't really speak to others here so I'm gonna keep it at I, don't talk about them a lot!

Kaidou really is a kid. He's honestly probably the kiddest kid in Saiki K, even among the really young kids. Him and Yuuta are kinda vying for that square. Not just his chuunisms, but the way that he handles conflict, his ideas about friendship, etc. And I've noticed even I have a tendency to woobify that and smooth it over and attribute like idk 'untold depths' to him because he does strike me as a person who'd have high empathy

but he's also an idiot.

and i love that about him <3
