he was fucking vicious through the entire match. he was also out there alone, like during all of his title defenses before. this was his moment to regain his championship

the look he gives to that title when he wins it. standing alone in the confetti. oc doesnt even notice best friends before trent physically touches him to get his attention. no hugs, no huge celebration, oc still basically leaves alone

like he says, what kenny says clearly means he gets it; but while hes name dropping deadly alliance, wheres the actual support by letting them inside the ring and giving them opportunities to actually shine and show what they are made of?

all five of them are aew originals. butcher and blade have had some of the hardest hitting and bloody hardcore matches in this company. bunny and penelope are standouts in the womens division likewise with hardcore background and just in general they are unique. kip reinvents himself at almost jericho pace and keeps being fresh and just getting better and better in the ring, and his character is incredibly unique. hes also charismatic as hell and who wouldnt want their company super villain to be british, lbr

anyways. you promised me a new era. lets get it by having some respect for your original talent that one of your evps name drops as standouts, why dont we?

hi its time for a soft rant hour (gonna talk about oc)

but like. i dont understand people that dont "get" his title reign. thankfully the amount of people ive seen claiming this havent been many, but its still been enough that it bothers me to an extend. cause while yes, i was also disappointed that he didnt drop the title back in the months to my favorite opponent of his, i do see the whole idea behind this title run

not only was oc the second ever holder of the international title, he MADE that belt. this man had so much to prove, to everyone, from being a worthy champion to eventually leaving behind a legacy thats gonna be insanely difficult to match, whether you are jon moxley or not

and its just.. really weird to me when people are like "he was just booked as invincible, he was favored, he was a terrible champion" like??

before this, orange cassidy was known as one of the laziest personas in wrestling. he had a trademark that he ran with, and people did think him mostly as a joke. the international title changed all of that. it pushed him to the limits, made him cross mental and physical lines that oc would have probably never crossed otherwise simply cause he didnt have to. as a champion, he needed to do that, and boy did he do it and did he do it well. and he was never booked fully invincible or anything, oc fought every single match with his ability, over time his physical health deteriorating to the point he simply couldnt beat moxley. every week was rougher than the last, every opponent more difficult than the last - but oc fought through it, cause he had to, cause he was the champion

orange cassidy was arguably the best champion this company has seen in its entire four year run so far and jon moxley is gonna have some very, VERY big boots to fill after him. i know hes up to the job, its mox we're talking about, but oc did an incredible job while staying well within the realms of his realistic abilities and talents, and thats an absolutely remarkable feat considering his character

i really hope they let cassidy retain the title at full gear

nothing against mox and yes he also deserves a proper run with the title since the last one was cut so short, but purely from oc perspective, him dropping the title to mox again and reducing him back into a mopey former champion is a step back at the moment. we cant just erase the past two months or so, and return to where oc used to be before going back into the title picture, it doesnt make sense at the current time and it will really just make this time with fenix and oc as champions feel like a temporary solution. which, sure i believe it was with what happened with mox, but back pedaling and basically erasing all that to continue where they left off is not it in this case

especially with the development we've not only gotten with oc, but also with the belt itself - they have been talking A LOT about it being a cursed item, how it affects its holders, the grasp it has on cassidy, etc. commentary brings this up all the time now for example, so its not like they should just brush all that off and just go back to how things were before. like no, this is now an actual intriguing storyline with good development and twists, and im just very afraid they'll throw all that in the trash if they hand the belt back to mox. cause, and again no offense to mox, but i dont think he can really hold this storyline up like oc can (and has, especially with everyone else he has managed to include in it) with this kind of an element to it. mox is too straightforward about shit to be involved in a story like this where it would continue to make sense - unless he gets injured again but nobody wants that to happen, and in storyline hes not gonna go through the physical pain and misery like both oc and fenix did

(..then again maybe mox could give it a twist by being too powerful for the physicality of the curse, but, again, that just erases all of the stuff from the past few months and brings nothing to the table so like. unless they are planning on erasing the entire idea of the belt corruption and the curse, which is just fucking lame and stupid and boring, but.. yeah)

bottom line is that i hope cassidy keeps the belt cause it'll honestly keep things more interesting. or at least push him into a different, darker direction if hes going to lose it. mopey former champ hours are not it anymore if they are just going to try to retcon and restart that angle tbh
