A relative late-comer to art, @ErnestoMaranje did not begin drawing and painting until well into his twenties, and only painted his first mural in 2015, but quickly developed into lush paintings of animals filled with layers of details including colorful layers of plant elements. In a time when much of urban society’s direct connection with the natural world has been forgotten or just ignored, @GraffitiStreet says Maranje’s depictions of plants and animals serve as a reminder that we are all part of nature. In 2017 for @ArtBasel, painting on NW 5th Ave in Wynwood, Maranje abandoned his typical use of color and collaborated with graffiti writer @Tragek1 connecting this rather forlorn panda and graffiti—whether as an effort to link the urban and the natural, or illustrate the growing gulf between the two.

Last night I finished my 4th and final Miami Art Basel mural of this run! I painted it in 3 afternoons on the front wall of @modernarttheorygallery in Wynwood. It was all about persistence!! The biggest obstacle was the difficulty getting a boom lift during this busy week, but my new friend @kozmiksirkus came to my rescue by lending us his. But then as night arrived, a cop told me I couldn’t park this giant machine in middle of the road, so I then had to finish it all up with a ladder! It was a big effort but I got it done and the gallery threw a fun party to celebrate my victory over this challenging wall! For two decades, hip Miami thrift shop @GiveGoodWorks has been building community and providing goods to the growing number of individuals in need of a hand. Sitting on Miami Ave, on the edge of the Wynwood Arts District, the shops walls have become a rotating gallery of art, and while only small parts remain from this work by Adelaide, Australia artist Seb Humphreys, aka Order55, there’s always lots to look at both inside and out. Humphreys adopt the Order moniker in 2000 and as the years pass his work has evolved from the complex letter forms of the graffiti artist to more organic works and now to integration of geometric and organic. “I have always been intrigued by the relationships between geometric forms and the growth patterns within nature,” he says. “Finding an aesthetic balance between these two forces is a common thread of my work.”  @order55/
