SORRY, I LOVE YOU

“They’re gonna notice, Jungsu.” You muttered under your breath. It was almost impossible to keep a straight face with your boyfriend’s hand now resting on your thigh; his skilled fingers from playing an instrument rhythmically tapping against your jeans.

“They’re not.” He hushed, overly confident about the obliviousness of his other members. You could see Hyungjun giving you both a subtle look from the other end of the table, and you hurriedly brushed Jungsu’s hand off.

He hadn’t told them you two were dating yet. You had been a long time friend of all six of them, but especially Jungsu. It was a running joke to see how long it would take for him to ask you out, and you were sure that they would all make a big deal out of it if they knew you had been his girlfriend for 2 months already.

Really, you wanted to ask him out in 10th grade. You had always liked him since the moment you first became friends, and though you had first thought he was shy and easily flustered, the more you spent time with him, the more comfortable he became. Now, he was willing to take more risks than you were— even when it could possibly expose your relationship.

He just couldn’t seem to keep his hands off of you tonight. He kept “accidentally” brushing his fingers against you or “helping you” fix your outfit which already looked perfect. Any excuse to get a little closer to you, he took.

You weren’t sure how he had managed to sneak in a total of 4 kisses to your cheek throughout the night. You were starting to think he was capable of anything. Or maybe you had just absurdly underestimated the others ignorance.

Dinner finished within half an hour, and Jiseok quickly suggested karaoke as the next stop. Everyone agreed without a fuss, and you were soon dragged along to a closeby noraebang building. Jooyeon and Jungsu immediately picked an upbeat track to set the mood; Twice’s ‘Alcohol-Free’.

You got cans of soda with Gunil, and all was at peace for a while. You were all goofing off and having a good time, and surprisingly, Jungsu seemed a little less touchy. As the night went along, soju and beer soon made its way into the booth (despite the irony of the opening choice of song). By around 11 pm, everyone was getting fairly tipsy, including you.

While you were normally sensible and conservative and careful, especially around your boyfriend and others, you couldn’t help but stare. He was singing a Stray Kids song that you had forgotten the name of, but it wasn’t of much importance when you couldn’t even focus on the lyrics. You were too absorbed with his face in your drunken state.

The gentle curve of his cheeks, and his red lips that looked extremely kissable in the moment. It was easy to stay away from him when your head was clear, but now you wanted nothing but to smother him with kisses— enough for a lifetime maybe, or even more than that.

It all became a hundred times harder when he moved to sit down next to you, still singing. He was as drunk as you; you figured from the flush of his cheeks. All thoughts of keeping your relationship under wraps and being careful around the boys flew out the window the second Jungsu reached out his hand to hold your cheek. You suddenly recognized the song he was singing his heart out to: ‘Sorry, I Love You’.

I can’t hide my feelings for you anymore.

I want to be more than friends.

I like you too much.

You didn’t notice the way he was leaning ever closer to you— you could only focus on his sweet voice in your ear. The boys certainly did notice, but their exclamations bounced in one ear and out the other. Your brain was too foggy from the alcohol to regret any actions that you might take, and as quickly as the song ended, you felt Jungsu’s lips on yours.

If you had looked into the future from the start of the day at every step you had taken, you might have predicted that his clinginess combined with alcohol would result in this. You didn’t really care, though. You could faintly hear shocked yelling from the younger boys and some muffled claps if you really focused; but the taste of Jungsu’s cherry lips were all your senses wanted to absorb. You pulled him closer, lost in the feeling.

Funnily, the thing that finally brought you back out of your trance was the robotic voice calling out a perfect 100 score for the song. It seemed as if Jungsu had scored in every possible way.

There were more drunken shouts and some congratulations, a mention of Gunil owing Seungmin ₩20,000. Most of what you could pick up on was loud teasing from the youngest boys, commenting how they never thought Jungsu would ever find the courage to do that. He seemed to frown and roll his eyes at the remarks.

“She’s been mine for 2 months!” He shouted in retaliation, his words almost slurring together. He pulled you closer as if to prove his point. This only resulted in some fake gagging from Jooyeon at the unapologetic PDA.

You must have fallen asleep between 11 and 12, because when you woke up, you were lying in your own bed with a messy-haired Jungsu overtop you. You shook him off your body, waking him up in the process. He rolled over, only to roll back on top of you a few seconds later.

“My head hurts.” You groaned, catching your boyfriend’s wrist to pull him even closer.

“I think… We drank too much last night.” He winced, sharing the same dull ache that you felt in your forehead.

You furrowed your eyebrows, using all your brain power to remember everything that had happened the previous night. When you recalled it all, you let out a muffled shriek, startling your boyfriend slightly.

“You didn’t really- Jungsu? Did you kiss me last night? In front of the boys?”

He blinked, a sleepily confused expression on his face as he also tried to remember, “Maybe? I… You looked so pretty- couldn’t help myself.” He mumbled, dropping his head back to your shoulder.

You sighed, “We’re going to get teased all week because of you.” Despite your complaining, you still ran a loving hand through his hair.

“You kissed me back…”

“You kissed me first!”

“Sorry. Sorry… I just… I really love you.” He whined, burying his face into your neck. Despite how much you were dreading the non stop teasing you were sure was to come, you just couldn’t be mad at your boyfriend for it. Especially when he was acting like a clingy kitten right now, snuggled up in the crook of your neck, nuzzling his nose against your skin.

“Don’t start complaining to me when they start teasing, though. You started this mess.” You whispered, pressing a small kiss to his temple.

Gunil

Gunil would be so concerned about his partner not eating enough, no matter how much the partner actually eats, he would take any opportunity he has to feed them. If they’re at a restaurant, Gunil will put food on his fork and reach over to his partner saying “Here love, try this” with the sweetest smile so his partner can’t turn him down. He would also at times show up with food or snacks to give his partner. When his partner asked him about he just said, “I just love you so I give you food,”

Jungsu

Jungsu knows how much his partner loves his voice so this man would break out into song at the most random times to serenade his partner. It could be two minutes after waking up, as they are brushing their teeth, when they’re out on a walk, just as they’ve laid down in bed, in the car, or over the phone, the man would even try doing it over text. He just wants to make his partner happy and why not do it through his breathtaking vocals?

O.de/Seungmin

He would be so in love with his partner that he ends up being starstruck every time they do something together because he still can’t believe that they’re a couple. Because of this, Seungmin would end up letting out a happy yelp after every little kiss, while having the biggest dorkiest smile. As soon as he sees his partner approaching he would let out a happy yelp before running, and I mean running, to hug them. However, as soon as the hug or the kiss is over, he is back to trying to act cool both for his partner but also for the people around him. This adorable dork is just soooo in love with his partner.

Gaon/Jiseok

Jiseok’s main priority is always making sure his partner is happy, not just happy, but laughing like a maniac until they can barely breathe. So, this little clown will be ready to run around, scream, make jokes, and make a fool out of himself, at any point of the day if he so much as imagines a frown on his partner’s face. If his partner isn’t dying of laughter and complaining about their cheeks hurting from all the smiling, Jiseok hasn’t done a good job in his opinion. So for the sake of this man’s dignity, I hope his partner is smiling 24/7 and that it’s a real smile.

Jun Han/Hyeong-jun

Hyeong-jun is the type that shows his love through small and often quiet actions. He’s like a mind-reader, he just knows exactly what his partner needs without them saying anything. They might be out and his partner is beginning to feel a little cold but they don’t say anything, seconds later Hyeong-jun is draping a jacket or a blanket over his partner’s shoulders to keep them warm. Or he comes with a bandaid the second his partner accidentally cuts themselves while making food, Hyeong-jun wasn’t even in the kitchen nor did he hear his partner saying anything, he just knew. He might not say ‘I love you’ all that often with words but his actions speak way louder and his partner will never have to question if Hyeong-jun loves them or not.

Jooyeon

This man will be holding onto his partner 25/8. He will be holding their hand, hugging them, half laying on them even when standing up, he will be playing with their hair, just touching them all the time. Jooyeon loves his partner, and therefore he wants to be close to them - all the time. So if he can touch them, he will. And please let him because otherwise, he is going to pout and sulk until his partner clings onto him, telling him how much they love him.

Xh realizing they love you romanticly for the first time:

aka a very late valentines day post lmao

warnings and info: a little bit of cursing, mentions of one of the members being sick, mentions of food, tooth rotting fluff, i didn't do the members in order for some reason idk, mentions of reader crying, gn!reader, light mentions of a natural disasters, mentions of kissing, I think thats it!

Gunil:

He remembers getting what felt like the worst cold in existence. He either felt like he was gonna puke or pass out every two seconds and that was not a good combo. He was worried about not getting the things he needed done in time and weighed down with responsibilities. And you come into his room and take care of him. And not just dropping him off some food and leaving because of your fear of getting whatever he had. No, you genuinely took care of him. Practically shoving food into his mouth when he didn't feel like eating it but hadn't had a single meal all day. Placing medicine in his hands then giving him the death glare until he drank it... then bringing a cup of water to his lips to wash it down. He didn't mind that you were a little hard on him at times like these. It was never in a bad way, but only to make sure he took care of himself. You knew more than anyone how he'd take care of others at the expense of himself. And just seeing you actively take full interest in make sure he's comfortable and gets better... it makes him realize two things: One) He realizes that whatever you did was to help him at times like these when he needed it most. And two) realizes that he can let all this worries down on you without feeling the fear of being judged for not being strong enough or getting told that his fears are irrational or weird. That you'd help him-- weather that be with advice, helping him physically with something in a more hands on way, or just providing a listening ear. He more than didn't mind you doing either. He was coming to love when you helped him.

Jungsu:

it was easy for jungsu to love you. He’s kind of always knew it in the back of his head. When you two were just friends who were too nervous to say anything about how y’all obviously wanted to date each other he knew then, too. He said it to you then as well. Just in a friendly way. And that calm feeling that feels like a breath is fresh air to him he gets whenever you’re close to him, like you are now— sitting next to him at a booth in some restaurant you introduced him two months ago that had become one of his favorite spots. That calm feeling is something he doesn’t think he can live without. At least not happily. And he doesn’t want to test that theory if he could. He realizes that the restaurant had become a place he really enjoyed because you were there. And, even though he realized it before, without you things just don’t hit as well. Things lack something without you. Like how you can’t have food without at least some type of seasoning. It just wouldn’t taste the same. Not like his life is bland by any means of the imagination, but if you’d never waltzed right into it then he thinks that he’d always be searching for that little something that makes it even better. Complete, actually. And it wasn’t just in a friendly way anymore. He wanted you always there— to go on little dates like this with each other, to kiss and to hold. It was ingrained in his memory now and he never wanted it to stop. It was just that: simple and sweet. But it all meant so much to him. He felt like, now that he got a taste of what you bring to his life (and what he brings to yours) now it was like you couldn’t have one [his life] without the other [you in it.] You just added something so special that he never wanted to stop having in his life. And he never wanted to stop adding little good things to yours either.

O.de:

For him, it was when you two had a heart to heart. Something had happened at your work and honestly, you felt so exhausted you wanted to drop on the floor and stay there. He was trying to help you move on without simply numbing all your feelings and pushing them down. You were sitting close to each other-- so close that your arms and legs brushed against the other. But no matter how much his presence and reassuring words comforted you, in the end your dam still broke. You started to cry. And it wasn't just a couple tears, either. You were just to done with everything going on and just wanted it all to stop. He remembers it distinctly, you put your hands over your eyes and tired to burry your face from him. He reached over and gently, calmly, even, removed your hands. He didn't even need to say anything, he just brought you to his chest, rubbing your back as your buried your face in his chest. In all the time you two had known each other and had been together, this was the first time either of you had cried this way around each other. I say that because, his eyes started to well up too. You notice and glance up at him "Why are you crying?" You laugh, "It's not like all of this happened to you, too." He nods. "Feels like it though." And after a little more back and forth between the two of you, that was when he realized how calm he was. That he knew what to say when you were feeling down. And instead of being freaked out and uncomfortable, he only had the overwhelming urge to make you feel better, and that what he did worked. Because he knew you inside and out

Junhan:

You could say it wasn't a very specific time that he realized he loved to romantically. It was a lot of things-- everything about you, actually. Didn't matter if they were more or less savory, he still cherished them like it was the only thing about you you were willing to share and it was the last time he'd see a precious jewel. But there was this one thing he seemed to always get this fluttery feelin from that maybe, just maybe, he didn't really care to stop. Your little things you'd do when you concentrated. Or maybe it was the face you made when you truly liked something. fuck, did that made him all giddy and smitten inside. All he knew was that whatever you did made him want to see more, more, more. He didn't think he could ever get enough of seeing this new unexplored part of your relationship bloom and blossom right before his eyes. There was just so much to find out about how you two are romantically and he never wanted to stop searching for new things. Maybe it wasn't really a specific thing about how either of you two alone acted. But it was more of how you two were together. He loved exploring it.

Gaon:

It hit him like a hurricane, a tornado, and a earth quake all at once, which wasn't really like him. Usually things came to him much more gradually. Thoughts and feelings taking their sweet time to settle into his brain. But nope, that was not the case with you. So just like with everything else about you-- like when he knew he first liked you, how his heart does a flipping routine whenever you smile, etc. Like one day he's in the bathroom doing his hair. And not just your usual do-it-really-quick-then-leave. He's making sure every strand is in place, making sure his skin is extra glowy, and as hes putting on the clothes hes laid out the night before he starts to wonder why hes suddenly putting so so so so much care into the types of things hes never really cared much about before. And when I say he drops his shirt on the floor and blinks, eyes wide all dramatic like when your face flashes in his mind I am not kidding. He looks down at the text he just sent you "Please be safe! call me when you get there!" Sure, he's always made an effort to look nice, and sure he's always made an effort to be protectives over the ones he loves. But now it was a little different... he wants you to think he looks nice, he wants you and your beautiful smile to be protected. And he didn't think he ever wanted to stop.

Jooyeon:

see, there was a few things that made Jooyeon realize that he was in love with you. It all came flaring up in his mind one night when he was at your place. Y’all’s friends were over as well as the rest of the members. Just having a good time. But somewhere along the way everyone started turning to the person close to them or just mingling around talking and laughing. And having a good time… without him. He tried to brake the ice with a joke or two and tried to laugh along with them. You know get involved in their conversations. But tonight everyone just seemed to be too engrossed in their own friends and whatnot to do more than smile a nod along to whatever he was talking about. So, he just picked a designated spot on your sofa and parked himself there after a matter of time. He thought about getting up to try talking to people again, and did. But the same thing happened. Most of these people— these were your friends after all. And all of his friends were talking too. He didn’t want to interrupt. But to his surprise you came and plopped down next to him, sighing and leaning back into the plush cushions. "Kind of done with people two?" He asked, halfway just because and halfway to make sure he wasn't intruding on your time with your friends. "Yeah," You sigh, holding up two fingers to resemble a small amount of time, "I'm about this close to telling everyone to leave." Really? He wants to ask, They have been here since dinner time and it was approaching midnight. A moment later and you two are talking just like normal. He cracks a stupid joke about kicking them out and you still laughed. He didn't want to admit this just yet, but he has a mental checklist of the things that make you laugh the most. It was important to him that he made you happy, always. And as he looked into you joy filled eyes, That was when he realized the first thing: That he wanted to be the reason you laughed for as long as you'd have him. "You don't have to stay here." He interrupts your sentence about the new episode of the show you both liked. You both eased into talking so smoothly. You leaned on his chest, practically head butting him with how you had plopped into him, making his cute guy smile show as his hand came around to circle your back. It almost felt like you were each others shields. "But I want to. I like it here." You said simply. And that was when he realized the other thing: that you'd always be there for him when nobody else will, and that you'd never think less of him. Many people underestimate him but you? You never would. "Yeah, we're fine just like this." He thought to himself. Wait, "we?" It had always just been "me." And that, was the last thing he realized: He thought in terms of only him before, but now he just slipped so easily into it being about the both of you. He liked that

just LOVES holding ur hand

whether it’s during a walk, holding hands underneath the table or just grabbing onto your hand while you’re mid convo with someone

he couldn’t care less by the disgusted looks the guys give him 🫡

he just wants to hold his partner’s hand and ain’t no one holding back this dude !!

but also he’s so so gentle about it

his hands sometimes are scattered with cuts and bruises, therefore are more in the calloused and harsh side

but he holds your hands so tenderly as if they were made out of fine china :(

he just loves u sm

i mean you saw it coming, we’ve all seen the clips where he pretended to cut his hand off

yeah

he does the same to you

will pretend to cut his hand off if you’re the first one who grabbed his hand

but will get annoyed if you do the same when he grabs your hand first…

also will teasingly squeeze your hand randomly

won’t admit it out loud but he loves holding your hand

that’s why he’s not that big on holding your hand while you’re with the boys (because they’ll tease him to death)

but.

will definitely sneak a hand into yours when you’re in a crowd of strangers

he is so soft and and gentle and tender and and …

will hold your hand no matter what, even if the guys tease him or if they’re ice-cold

like 24/7, even in his sleep his hand will always look for yours 🥹

i feel like his hands are soft and taken care of (?) like he carries handcream and regularly uses it

(he also creams your hands for you, gently and precisely,, like ,, it’s so adorable ;((( )

so due to that fact it’s just… like his hands r smooth okay

will also sneak kisses on the back of your hand/knuckles before or after he interlocks your hands

it’s just such a sweet gesture that has become his habit

… because he loves the way your cheeks redden because of it ^_^

but deep inside he loves it and prays you never let go

and if you don’t hold his hand for whatever reasons, he’ll aggressively grab yours and shrug nonchalantly when you send him a puzzled look (´･_･`)

lives for interlocking fingers with you

while he does it, he giggles that there’s no way out now… and truly, there’s not

this man has an iron grip…

at first he was also shy to hold hands w you in the boys’ presence but with time, he actually started to love it

just uses this fact to rub it on his faces that he has a partner and they don’t~

it took him some time to get used to it, hence why you always initiated hand holding

he was always kind of taken aback, stiffing and blushing, before finally relaxing into your touch

he loves it so so much and even told you one day because he didn’t want you to think that his awkwardness means he doesn’t like it :(

same as gaon, would prefer holding your hand in private or hidden from the members’ eyes

(or hidden literally, underneath a table etc)

and and

when he wants you to hold his hand he’ll shyly interlock your pinkies first :((

giving you puppy eyes and just hoping you’ll catch on :(((

and it becomes an alternative for you, so sometimes you’ll just link pinkies :((((

the first time you held his hand he was like “ew cooties…” “take those sweaty hands off me” “ew…”

but THEN WHEN YOU WANTED TO LET GO HE INTERLOCKED YOUR FINGERS AND REFUSED TO LET U GO ???

yeah um,, anyways,,

it’s chaotic – he’ll gasp, whine, roll his eyes

but then the sheepish grin on his lips gives him away

loves to draw shapes on your hand with his thumb, often spelling some words

(‘gaon is dumb’)

(and you need to stop yourself from laughing because you’d look like a maniac)

or or when you intertwine fingers, he’ll put your hands up and try to separate your fingers from his (?) … and when you’re like having flat palms against each other, he’ll suddenly close his fingers again and trap you,, just to repeat that 😭

to summarise, he’s like … if you gave a dog a ball,, he can entertain himself with your (and his) hands ??

and also couldn’t care less about the boys; just like seungmin, he’ll brag that at least he has a hand to hold
