harry recognized the reporter. of course, he did. ( because of mary jane. because she had gotten him interested in the world of reporting, because he had watched her so often, because --- the thought cut off. he would not allow it here. ) clark kent. that was the name of the man. harry walked up to him, greeting him with a slight nod of his head. there were many things he could say, that he wanted to say, but he chose the safest, the least antagonistic. “find anything interesting this evening, sir?”

Steve had never been one to SIT SILENT --- so what was he supposed to do now? It wasn’t his name dragging through the mud; it was truth itself, it was every hero out there trying their damn hardest to do good despite the Accords, it was his friends who put themselves on the line for some half-idea of justice. ( And if this was Rumlow’s LAST PLAY, Steve wouldn’t let it be a long lasting one. ) So, no, he couldn’t stay silent, even if that was the smarter play. This was the RIGHT one. Let Steve Rogers tell his side of the story, and then let the world judge. 

And who better to HELP HIM do that than Clark Kent? 

The reporter had already proven he wouldn’t turn Steve in for a dime. He’d shown his integrity time and time again. Steve didn’t have much, but he had truth and trust --- he didn’t mind giving both to Clark. 

Steve was sitting in a near-empty park, slouched low on the bench with his sunglasses acting as the best disguise he had on hand. He was far from relaxed --- he felt ready to BOLT at the first sign of trouble. ( He kept holding his breath so that the sound wouldn’t disrupt him from hearing cars in the distance. )

But there was nothing. The park was quiet. And then Clark Kent was there, and there was no backing out. 

“I’m glad you came,” he greeted Clark, standing to his feet. ( Good sign: no cars were approaching, no men creeping close. It was just Clark. ) Steve held out his hand for a shake. “And I want to start out by saying --- this isn’t about asking forgiveness. This isn’t about what they’re saying about me. This is about the truth. I don't know many others who can deliver that message like you can.”

halos of paperwork surround her,  body near doubled over as she attempts the first edits on an investigative journalism piece. turns out politics are far more complicated than comedy might suggest,  scratching a line that would surely lose her audience and adjusting it accordingly.  “  hey,  clark,  is the occasional joke still tasteful these days or does it read like a mockery of our profession?  ”

mary jane takes her breather here,  seated firmly by the coffee table in a home that wasn’t her own :  guest of the kent’s and their one recently discovered - sibling - but definite family - member occupying the far room. to say she was grateful for this opportunity would diminish how appreciative she was to have two of the arguably best in their fields teaching her how to properly transfer these notes from simple scribbles of a new york girl to a worthwhile host. “ you know there’s a demonstration coming up on corruption in local and state politics. they’re looking for volunteers to help orchestrate the event. ” getting their finger pressed firmly against the pulse of society, as it were. 

still,  the announcement lighting up her phone is welcomed distraction from deciphering the nuances of casual speech and informed discussion. “ ever been on the working side of a rally? ”

❌ What is the biggest mistake they make in their relationships?

// Self sabotage. And by that, I mean he gets so far in his own head by overthinking and doubting himself that he sabotages the relationship before it really has a chance. Wally has a horrible habit of comparing himself to others and weirdly enough he’s bad at communicating with his partners even when he insists they communicate with him when things are going south, so he can try and fix it. 

He gets attached too quickly as well- but it’s debatable if that’s a mistake or not.

Tony had lost count of the interviews he had done for Stark Industries. Any good press the company could get always helped outweigh any bad press it got because of its connection to his activities as Iron Man. Since this interview was going to go into more of the technical side of their new products it was best done by Tony.

The company’s endeavors into clean energy made waves and it would have the effect of reducing the amount of pollution energy production made. The natural follow up to that was a plan to deal with the pollution and damage humanity had inflicted on the planet. Tony had tackled the most difficult area to clean, the land itself. Often attempting to clean up land put toxic dust into the air which spread out the problem. The solution he created would use nanotechnology to clean particles out of the soil on a molecular level. He was also tinkering with making soil more nutrient rich in order to grow crops, terraforming in a way he supposed. Though that was still in the early stages.

He double checked the small demonstration model he had to show the reporter before double checking his appearance. Though he could have done this particular interview three sheets to the wind, he’d elected to do it sober. It wasn’t easy though he’d managed and for the time being his demons were quiet.

“Mr. Stark,” his secretary said as she buzzed him on the intercom.

“Yes, Bambi,” he said as he hit the button.

“Mr. Clark Kent from the Daily Planet is here for his interview,” she said.

“Send him in.”

Bambi Arbogast had been his secretary for decades. She was without a doubt the best secretary in the entire company and though she was close to or past retirement age he had no doubt she could handle anything that came her way. A study in contrasts, Tony liked her far more than he let on.

Tony slipped into his public persona that he used when dealing with the press.  The psychological mask he used when performing for someone was firmly in place as he sat as his desk.  When the door opened and Bambi escorted the reporter in Tony smiled.  “Welcome to Stark Industries, Mr Kent,” he said.  “Would you like something to drink?  Coffee, tea, water?”

          ☢  Not exactly…

Bruce typically sleeps incredibly lightly. It’s a habit he’s had since he was very young, and he’s spent more of his life associating sleep with vulnerability and anxiety than with rest and relaxation. If he were to do anything in his sleep, it would wake him up immediately.

On the few occasions that, due to overexhaustion or feeling incredibly safe, he’s managed to sleep deeply, he’s been known to snore very slightly.

Lately, with his relationship with the Hulk at possibly the best it has ever been (though that isn’t saying much), it’s become possible that if he sleeps deeply enough, someone else might talk in his sleep. If that has happened, though, he isn’t aware of it.

yes and no, bruce does so many things to even out the chaos and destruction the hulk causes...helping the sick, helping people with construction, brainstorming ways to help villagers, create world breaking equations and technology to aid humanity...etc. he and hulk do try so hard to do good when he was with the avengers, saving the world and stopping bad guys count as doing good right?

to them a ‘good’ life would mean settling down, with someone or alone. bruce wants to just live like anyone else. to experience excitement, get the flu, to fall and scrape a knee, to be ‘human’. he can’t experience these things like anyone else because of the hulk and so many nights and days he feels like he’s not even human. bruce wishes he was cured of the hulk but deep down he knows that the hulk cant be something he can remove, the hulk is apart of him and he has to deal with it.

bruce hates being alone, isolated, he’s always felt different and a burden to family and friends, and now with the hulk he feels the need to remove himself from any party because its safer. its agony. all he wants is to live without the fear of loosing control. to love and be loved.

to bruce banner, a good life would mean just being ‘alive’ with friends and family.

she’s uncharacteristically cold in these quiet moments leading up to an action of tolerance or consequence ;  with both hands sparking their trademark electro-chemiluminescent green. crackling eventually subsides,  jessica standing down with a confirmatory step backwards. it’s a break in the mask  (  she realizes,  perhaps TOO late  )  and results in a frown so deep they’d undoubtedly leave behind wrinkles.  ❝  yeah,  i get that. but they won’t.  ❞  thumb pops over her shoulder at an indistinguishable mass of bodies crowding to get their recorded take on an event that escaped their local legends.  ❝  where’d he fly off to, supes ? i just want to talk.  ❞

forgive the abruptness in which he speaks,  clark. soft power is no laughing matter when regarding worldwide politics and having someone so adamantly pro - UN enforcement of the accords could prove disastrous for their kind. where america goes,  more often than not the rest of these democratic nations follow,  even those pretending to toe the line of concern for appearance's sake. 

while he wished this could be a conversation between arthur and clark,  two friends getting into the thick of debate on current affairs,  it was a king of atlantis standing before superman. one political entity concerned and asking if his gut feeling was justified by their ( arguably ) strongest neutral symbol.  ❝  not that the tides fair in our favor either way.  ❞
