personality wise, he’s a wild card. he lives for thrill. he’s the type to take you cliff jumping for the first date or sneak into some blocked off area. he is a romantic, going above and beyond for the ones he treasures but, he has a tendency to run himself thin.

TLDR; JJ’s a Navy brat with a father with PTSD and it rattled their whole family when he blew out JJ’s ear drum and left him deaf on one side. As a result of living with his father, JJ has adopted a few symptoms of PTSD which he is fixing with copious amounts of partying. He is an alcoholic golden boy. Nice guy. Loves dogs. Naturally red-headed. Gay but he doesn’t know that.

BIOGRAPHY

Eight schools within four years is what Jason considers ‘not horrible’ considering that he’d gone through five houses before he was eight years old. Born into a Naval family, there were plenty of perks to having parents in the military including the cool stories and a never-ending rotation of addresses but the novelty of trying new food and exploring cultures all over the world lost its luster quickly when Jason could never quite answer the simple question of where he belonged. He wasn’t white, nor was he Samoan. He didn’t live here nor there.

Always the odd one out, school wasn’t the only place he felt out of place when home itself became a war zone. Jason always heard stories about how his father was a hero but all he knew were the bullets and shrapnel Baghdad spat out by the time he was old enough to understand that something about Dad wasn’t right. Night terrors, avoidance, hyper-vigilance were all part of the untreated symptoms Jason’s dad suffered and by proxy, so did the rest of the McKinnons.

Family life went from uneventful to turbulent as Dom grew aggressive and angry, leaving Sarah and Jason to manage the nuclear structure of their family for as long as they could for the sake of antiquated social values. To everyone looking in, The McKinnons were picture perfect patriots. Icons of the good ol’ American.

It wasn’t until an incident during a Christmas eve that left Jason deaf in one ear did things finally fall apart. Sarah applied for divorce and demanded space for herself and her son who’d lost enough already without a reckless father whose denial took a part of his future too. 

Jason’s dream of enlisting was shattered in a single bang and he was left to scrounge up the pieces. Luckily for him, Yale had accepted his application and with his recent loss moving the admittance committee enough to grant him a scholarship and a spot on the football team. 

What Jason lacked in stability at home, he made up for in an excellent academic career when puberty seemed to make rampant apologies for taking away more of his hearing every year by making him a contestable athlete. He was fast, strong and handsome which easily made him popular with just about everyone who had a pair of eyes. Sweet, compassionate and loving, Jason had all the make of becoming an exemplary model of a human being– except that he took to alcohol like a fish to water and would occasionally (often) make bad choices for reasons no one could seem to make sense of.

No one looked at his degeneration as anything more than average teenage behaviour and they certainly didn’t look at him as a beacon of anxiety when he was hidden behind a studly golden veneer that seemed to have it all.

After all, he did make it to Yale.

HEADCANONS

Unilaterally deaf and has some hearing loss in the remaining ear. Wears a biCROS hearing aid. He has a tough time at parties and in the pool but generally can hear just fine.

Everyone calls him Tiger because of an incident at the beginning of freshman year where he begged his mom to dye his hair black so he could blend in with the other kids. He was unveiled as a ginger by his teammates after the guys saw him in the locker room and the carpet didn’t match the drapes. He’s never dyed his hair again, but often wears a cap to hide all his red.

He’s naturally red-headed even though he’s not entirely white. Listen, it’s a recessive gene.

He’s a good Samaritan so he does volunteer work and all that goodie-two shoes nonsense and probably goes to Church on Sunday too. He’s a really busy guy between football and school, doing his best to get a degree that’ll ensure him a future after throwing balls.

He is really good at throwing balls, though.

Incapable of saying no, even if it’s in his best interest to.

Says he’s straight but he’s gay and frankly, in a bit of denial about it. JJ has no measuring stick of what being gay is supposed to be like when he grew up shrouded in military culture that liberally uses the f-word and is generally, pretty homophobic.

There he is, the Dean’s son and a Yale Legacy!

For as long as he could remember, it’s unfortunately always been him and his father. His mom died while giving birth to Bash and his Dad has never ever forgiven him for it.

Their grandparents are never really around except for when they need Bash and his father for publicity but mainly they benefit off of the school’s wages and go on extravagant vacations and want nothing to do with the Monroe boys.

His father is abusive though he hides it well because…he’s the Dean of the school. Both physically, emotionally and verbally. Since he’s been dealing with it his entire life, he’s sort of accepted it as something that he deserves so he doesn’t really fight it. After all, if it weren’t for him his mother would still be alive. And his father isn’t hurting anyone other than him so Bash has never…really seen the problem. A complete victim’s mindset.

So due to this he thinks he’s a worthless piece of shit that won’t amount to anything and who doesn’t deserve love or happiness. As his father constantly reminds him, he’s just a burden on the world and all around him, feeding to the country’s overpopulation. He was the biggest mistake of his Dad’s life.

Even though Sebastian is a MAN now, a whole 23 years, he hasn’t gravitated away from his Dad. Again, he thinks he deserves it and he believes he needs his father. Dean Monroe has convinced him that he wouldn’t survive a minute in the world without him. Bash is just…delusional and as much as he hates his Dad, he grossly respects and values his opinion. After all he doesn’t know better and doesn’t know anything more.

On the frequent occasions where his father beats him to where it’s visible, Bash will usually go to a bar and elicit a fight to get more flesh wounds apparent so that he has an alibi. So basically everyone at Yale just thinks he’s a drunken troublemaker who gets into a shit ton of fights. Which like…isn’t wrong. He is drunk or high 99% of the time and he’s getting into fights.

At least when he gets hit, he feels something. Whereas he’s gotten so good at numbing and shoving down any sort of feelings. Shout out to liquor!

He’s always loved music, it’s his sole happy place and when his fingers are gracing that of a piano it’s like…he’s transported away from the bullshit. As lame as it sounds, he feels like his piano is his only and last connection to his Mom. She used to play and when he plays, he feels like he’s playing for her and to her like…spiritually. He can feel her when he’s writing, composing and playing. She gives him the music and he puts it to paper.

He’s a sarcastic asshole who tries to act all tough but who is severely craving human intimacy and companionship. When people start to get close and he starts to trust them, he panics, literal panic attacks that cause him to just snap and do everything he can to push that person FAR away and out of his life. He’s really smart but he doesn’t think so which means he doesn’t apply himself. Doesn’t really trust anyone. Will party and sometimes when he’s really high he’ll like…relax and cut loose and be real with people but then the next day he’ll deny it ever happened.

[ current | fwb ] muse a and muse b met through mutual friends and quickly hit it off as friends. offhandedly one day, muse a mentioned something one day that muse b quickly turned sexual. they locked eyes and the next minute they were in a room, locked away, undressing each other. after exiting the room, the two agreed that it would never happen again…until a few days later, when it did. they keep saying they won’t come back for more.

[ current | just do it already ] muse a and muse b have been in love with each other for like, ever. neither of them are willing to admit it though, even to themselves. their friends are constantly joking about it and they both wave it off – but when one isn’t looking, anyone could see the adoration in the other’s face with ease.

[ past | dating ] muse a and muse b were the kind of people that immediately rejected each other, going to other people instead. then muse a found themselves in a room with their ex and pulled muse b aside to ask them to fake being their significant other for the night. over the next few hours, their fake date became a real one and soon things progressed into a relationship.

[ previous | friends��i guess? ] muse a and muse b were friends prior to their spontaneous hook-up and their world turned upside down. dazed, they decided to start dating that moment and to their credit, tried to make it work for a few weeks. muse a finally ( and nervously ) let out that they weren’t feeling it. to their relief, muse b admitted they were feeling the same. they decided to stay friends, but now have the added “i’ve seen you naked” awkwardness.

[ your choice | hook up ] muse a recently broke up with their significant other, and in their post-breakup state got some revenge by hooking up with their ex’s best friend, muse b. neither expected the night to be so…memorable. your choice on what they do about it.

PLATONIC:

[ positive | two way street ] muse a and muse b frequent the same coffee shop and often made casual hellos to each other until the coffee shop raised their prices. muse a went to order their usual drink and lifted their eyes in surprise at the new price, hand helplessly prepared to hand over exact change. muse b quickly swooped in and saved the day, buying both of their coffees. next time they were both in the shop, muse a paid for muse b’s drink. they flip who pays each time as some sort of game now, but they’ve only had minor conversation as one or the other always seems to be in a rush.

[ positive | friends ] when muse a moved in, they didn’t expect to see muse b climbing up/standing on the fire escape right outside their living room window. they went to confront muse b and scared them, making both fear for the life of muse b for a moment. apologetic, muse a invited muse b in and the two connected almost immediately. ( muse b may or may not have explained their presence on the fire escape during this conversation // reason could have been that they knew who lived in muse a’s apartment before but didn’t know that they moved )

[ current | platonic ] muse a is an extrovert – so much so that when muse b started moving in, they didn’t even wait for the moving truck to pull away before introducing themselves. in fact, muse a even started helping unload the truck without being asked. ( BONUS: muse b was super grateful for the help and their relationship is great // muse b is Grumpy™ and was annoyed that muse a started helping without asking and their relationship is tense. )

›› with grades that are subpar and a criminal record that anyone could’ve sworn was longer than a cvs receipt, it is a shock to most that the girl was accepted into this prestigious university.

›› born in atlanta, georgina had a semi normal upbringing in a lower middle class family. she has an older brother who she will forever call her role model and her parents did as much as they could to support them. at the age of 13, georgie’s father was in an accident leaving him disabled and it made their living situation even more difficult. her brother dropped out of high school and worked two jobs to help keep a roof over their heads while her mom worked three tip jobs that got her barely enough cover the rent.

›› at the age of fourteen, georgie began stealing a few necessities for the family. food, clothing, etc. it was a thrill almost and it slowly turned into a bit of a game to her. the small items were too easy now and the big ticket items were now catching her eye. the jewelry, the department stores… even cars. anything she could sell to make some cash for her family and even a bit of money for herself. she started with the department stores, testing her luck and getting away with it a few times. georgie was getting a bit cocky but her luck ran out and she now has a few petty theft charges under her belt. community service was worked and it didn’t stop her from playing the game she came to enjoy.

›› she’d always been a mischievous child and it only grew as she got older. she loved a good adrenaline rush and running from cops was definitely a way for her to get that feeling. many times she would have to run from cops after being caught spray painting random buildings, bridges, and maybe an actually cop car here and there.

›› another one of her favorite past times would be getting under people’s skin. she loves playing devil’s advocate which is the main reasons he joined the debate team. what better way to piss people off than to argue debate on the opposite side.

›› but! the question still hasn’t been answered. how did someone like her get into yale? simple answer really.

›› she is an incredible artist. the spray painting on the sides of buildings was just an outlet for her. sometimes, the canvas on the floor of her room just wasn’t big enough. sometimes she needed a bigger space, and it was just convenient that there were buildings everywhere that she felt needed to be painted.

›› she has had a few galleries and she was lucky enough to have caught the eye of a few of the professors and administrators of yale and they came to an agreement: she stays out of trouble for the time she is enrolled at the university, she has a place in the arts program. and so far, she has kept up her end of the deal… but that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t tested the waters. it wouldn’t be georgie without causing a little bit of trouble here and there… or everywhere.

›› so while she has a spot at the university, she isn’t secured a place there by the time she graduates. she is constantly tiptoeing on the line and recently she has been close to losing her spot. she knows that graduating from yale would be a great way to get her name out there and be on her way to becoming a well known artist, and it would be even better for her family back in atlanta.

›› but damn… that adrenaline rush feels better to her than anything and she isn’t sure she can give up that feeling completely.

›› okay! so pretty much long story short, she is a wild card. a firecracker. the worst sometimes. she is a ball of fire and you really don’t know what to expect with her. she will suggest the most fucked up thing just to get a reaction and you probably won’t know if she is being serious of not because honestly, she doesn’t even know if she is being serious or not. she is fun, or at least that is how she would describe herself, and she has a knack for trying to manipulate people into doing things they normally wouldn’t, and sometimes she doesn’t know when to stop pushing. but on the other hand, she can be quite naive. she does have trouble trusting people she shouldn’t. she also just has trouble saying no to most things. georgie is willing to do anything once, but that could definitely be the death of her.

Yale wasn’t always the plan but after her parents divorce, she made it her goal to get into the same Ivy League her father graduated from—and she went ways to do it!

She intends to follow in her father’s footsteps just to prove something to him, and herself. She can and will become a lawyer and kill the game. She’s done being undermined. 

Caro used to be a good girl but that has changed. After all, not everything is as it seems and there was a lot at stake.

♘ Philip Walsh came from a long line of captains of industry. His great grandfather got his start in New York City as a newspaper mogul and it was something his family kept to until the early 1950′s. It was then that his grandfather began to make the shift to the hotel business. He built his great empire from the ground up and his 5-star luxury hotels began popping up across the globe over the decades.

♘ His first, and favorite, home was on the water in Greenwich, Connecticut. Most of his childhood was spent there and he wouldn’t have changed those early years for the world. His mother owned a small but very popular equestrian school and taught her only son to ride and respect horses at a young age. Something that’s always stayed with him. 

♘ By the time he was ten, his family had purchased a large estate in Oyster Bay Cove, New York, and it began the constant shuffle of going from one family home to the other. It was also around that time Philip’s parents began traveling for work and leaving him behind in the care of their trusted house staff. The child learned just how tight his parents held his leash the first time left him on his own. 

♘ Philip had lost count of all the times he’d wished for a more normal childhood. Or even to be shipped off to boarding school, to gain even a scrap of the freedom he so desperately sought. His parents were rough on him and expected nothing but the absolute best from him from an early age and it never got any easier. His father was a firm believer in discipline and taught him as a young boy to fear his firm hand. And his constant drinking never quelled the old man’s rage.

♘ Despite all the hardships he faced at the hands of his parents, he grew into a well-rounded, obedient young man. A son his socialite parents could be proud of. Brought up in the lap of luxury and never having to truly want for anything, Philip was constantly restless and looking for something new to do. His interests were primarily held by music and horses which eventually turned to polo. His father, however, was vehemently against his son playing music—let alone in a public setting, but his mother was constantly encouraging the music career that could be just out of reach. 

♘ For several years, Philip received mixed messages from his parents about his love and pursuit of music and unbeknownst to him, it destroyed their marriage. By the start of his junior year, his parent's divorce was final and his mother moved to Europe leaving her son in the unforgiving care of his father.

♘ When Philip turned 18, he started at Yale as per his father’s orders, determined that the family legacy would live on. The majors he chose could hardly be considered as such, as both were at his father’s request, one he didn’t feel he could refuse. Despite his mother’s unquestioning abandonment, both of his parents still expected nothing but perfect grades and not a single toe put over the line. Something Philip struggled with his first year as the university was his first real taste of freedom.

♘ Though as usual, Philip’s plan wasn’t good enough for his father and he had something else in mind for him completely. , but never had he imagined would it be so soon. There were important investors all over the world and his father wanted him to wine and dine them all. To begin to make his own connections and even bring in a few new investors while he was at it.

♘ The young man knew that one day his father would expect him to be the face of the empire and with that, his father had put the weight of their world on his shoulders and no matter how much he hated it, Philip obeyed. He’d been groomed all his life to take over the family business and without his mother to stand up for him any longer, fighting his fate was futile. 

♘ For the most part, Philip’s come to terms with what awaits him after graduation, but he can’t fully ignore the nagging voice in the back of his mind. Reminding him that he’ll never be happy as his father’s puppet, knowing his father would never relinquish full control. As a way to get back at his father, Philip’s decided to take his sweet old time finishing out his degrees, even taking extra courses just for the ‘fun’ of it.

♔ Despite how hard his mother is on him at times, he loves her dearly and they are quite close. She was the one who introduced him to the things he loves most, horses and music. Both are things he distanced himself from since she left him in the sole care of his father.

♔ Philip has never truly known anything but hatred and resentment towards his father. Perhaps as a small child, he'd felt something else for him, but it’s not something he remembers. He learned at a young age how to bury those feelings deep.

♔ The man is very smart, his parents made sure of it when they raised him and spend hundreds of thousands on his education.

♔ He loves to party and there’s a good chance he’s bringing the booze or the weed. He’s learned to be a very functional stoner. 

♔ There’s a 96% chance he’s got a flask or bottle of alcohol in his backpack at all times. And if he doesn’t, it’s probably because it was just polished off. He’s always been pretty good about holding his liquor as he’s been drinking since high school.

♔ He’s an only child, but he has lots of cousins so he’s never really felt like it.  

♔  He can get really reactive or heated very fast when rubbed the wrong way or if he’s been offended. The temper and rage is the one thing he inherited from his father that he hates about himself.

♔ Philip would never admit this to just anyone, but he is snobby AF. A total spoiled brat who expects all the finer things in life.

♔ He started playing rugby while at Fairfield Prep and loved the physical contact and how it gave him an outlet to express his anger. Which he has a really unhealthy amount of.

♔ He likes to take power trips every now and then, letting arrogance get the better of him. It usually happens when he’s been drinking. Sarcasm is his favorite defense mechanism.
