Bless. I have a little more p5 g/t for you. Akeshuake focused because i LOVE THEM.
These are all taken from my little idea folder thing, so some of them have dialogue/are story based and some of them are just little concepts.
(P5R SPOILERS)
⭑ “Here, you’ll have to stay in my pocket today.”
“What…?” Akechi growls. “I am not doing that.”
“You dont have a choice, Akechi. You have to come to school with me somehow.” Akira huffs.
“B-but can’t I just… can’t you hold me, or something?” The brunette adjusts his clothes anxiously, but he still glares tiny daggers into the giant.
Akira shakes his head. “I cant risk you getting crushed, or someone seeing you. I’m sorry. Its just for today, until we can get the group together to fix this.”
Akechi hesitantly agrees and Akira helps him climb into his chest pocket. All day at school, Akechi can feel the boom of Akira’s voice, the way his hand clutches his pocket every so often to ensure Akechi is still there. He feels so protected, and he’s never felt that way before. Eventually, in the middle of class, Akira opens his pocket to see a tiny, tiny akechi asleep in there. He audibly awwwwes until Morgana and Ann ask him what he’s looking at.
⭑ Akira being referred to as a gentle giant is the best thing ever like yes! He is a pretty giant boy! Giant Akira gazing downwards, his big eyelashes, his powerful, strong fingers that could crush with little effort, but his gentle touch. His feet crashing into the ground and sending people stumbling, but so incredibly careful not to crush anyone accidentally. Gentle boy with his tiny leblanc family and his tiny thieves and his tiny rival
⭑ Akechi picking up tiny Joker and mumbling “Now, what am I going to do with you…?” Is SO GOOD
⭑ Akechi chooses against killing akira au. He realizes Akira can be a great help in taking down Shido. However, he needs to get him out of that damn interrogation room. Years of work on a certain device has given him a solution.
“Hello. Im here to rescue you.”
“Akechi…” akira breathes, dumbfounded. “You came for me.”
“There’s no time for your brainless sentimentality. Sorry for this.” He aims a strange looking ray gun at him, before-
Akira blinks, groaning. “What…” he tries to gather his bearings, before realizing that a giant, gloved hand is coming towards him. He screams in horror as he realizes that he’s been shrunk!! The hand wraps around him tightly, the leather rubbing against his skin as he kicks his legs in a panic.
“Quiet, you little thief! You’re going to get us found out!” Akechi puts a finger to Akira’s mouth. Akira weakly nods in pure fear, before Akechi drops him in his pocket.
⭑ On that note. Goro with a shrinking function in his ray gun!
⭑ Giant goro petting akira absently without even realizing he’s doing it, or, pretending so. Telling him he’s a cute little thing. Akira leaning into his gentle, but enormous touch. His hand batting goro’s enormous finger away when he starts poking and prodding him teasingly. Akira sleeping in goro’s glove. <3
⭑ Tiny bullets ricocheting off of Goro’s black mask gauntlet because he dropped his enormous hand in front of Joker and Violet to protect them from shadows in Maruki’s palace ^-^
⭑ Staying on the Maruki thought, Akechi showing up to Leblanc in that first little bit of the third semester, except he’s absolutely enormous, to the point where he can barely fit a foot into the tiny alleys of Yongen-Jaya. He gets Akira’s attention by knocking on his window with the back of his knuckle. Akira practically leaping out of his window to see him, and Akechi picks him out of his window by the back of his shirt. Blah blah Maruki made him big so Akira would be obsessed and too happy to reject the false reality blah blah I would be happy with a giant akechi too
⭑ Satanael Joker with clouds circling his horns because he’s just so big. Scooping all of the thieves into one hand because they’re so small and pressing them ever so gently to his chest in a hug. He laughs softly and it feels like an earthquake to everybody around him. Shooting Yaldabaoth in the head himself YAY!
i have majorrr anxiety so This is so scary but i feel so validated in my ideas thank you all mwah mwah <33

ES’ first year of establishment, early January. The first work day following SS—NewDi Office…
Madara: Happy New Yeeeeeear ☆
I’m here to answer your call! Happy New Year! MaM’s Mikejima Madara is here! Time to welcome in the new year!

Madara: Wouldn’t it be more creepy to see a squeaky clean adult~? To live is to become dirty, no~?
Besides, since the conclusion of SS turned out to be a farce laughable enough to make tea boil in your gut[1], those of us idols who participated in the main competition were rewarded accordingly.
The massive amount of money that should’ve originally gone to a single unit has been distributed evenly.
Tsumugi: Yep. As a result, we’ve received more L$ than we know what to do with. NewDi has been struggling financially for a while now, so it’s a great help.

It’s likely not a gift to us in the spirit of the New Year, but rather… As a way of recognizing our achievements thus far, the president has awarded us a bonus.

The Japanese saying heso ga cha o wakasu (lit. to boil tea within your navel) is used to describe something ridiculously laughable, comparing one's belly when laughing hard to a boiling tea kettle.
Two popular New Year's celebration games. Fukuwarai is a little similar to “pin the tail on the donkey”, but with players trying to correctly arrange facial features on a blank face while blindfolded. Hagoita, or Hanetsuki, is a racket and shuttlecock game, much like badminton but without a net.
Hatsumode is the first shrine visit of the year, as part of New Year's festivities. Typically done on the first couple of days of the new year. Traditionally, New Year's wishes are made and omamori (good luck charms) are bought. It's also popular to draw an omikuji to receive your fortune; hence the omikuji feature during Enstars' New Year's campaigns.

FRUITS BASKET S3 EPISODE 1 + 2 RECAP!
Yayyy! Season 3! Finally! I’m hoping this season will make me understand/sympathise with Akito and maybe even Shigure a little bit more because... honestly? My opinions on episode 2?... I might get some flack for my opinions on them...  😬
But, first: I’d like to appreciate how on the Funimation app we got a little interview/message from a few of the english dub VAs! Specifically Colleen Clinkenbeard, Jerry Jewell, Eric Vale, Ian Sinclair and Brina Palencia (Akito, Kyo, Yuki, Kureno and Isuzu). And it was nice seeing some of their opinions of the characters they play and how much they’re emotionally invested in the story. (Ian’s such a nerd ‘I wanna see giant mechs later this season’ 😂 - I lowkey stan him lol)
You should definitely check it out if you’re interested in what they would have to say!
ANYWAYS, let’s get into it...
---------------------------------------------------------------
EPISODE 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really love this depiction of the original zodiac and how you can just tell from the tone of the scene how desperately the God of the Zodiac was clinging on to these connections that they had with the participants in the banquet. How much they clung on to and loved the cat... Also, interesting how Tohru’s narrating this scene... almost like she can relate to the desperation of wanting to keep things the same... but we’ll get to that later. But also, Tohru is a God
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This new opening is beautiful, I love the way that camera moves around the still illustrations and how the general tone just hammers down that... this season is gonna be some real shit lol (which makes me nervous for the opening for the second half 😳). It’s so warped and the general blue, grey and black tone that follows around every Akito scene we get in the anime has bled into every scene in this opening concerning the rest of the zodiac. Almost... like something is decaying. It’s great, it’s just very sad lol. I love the song tho, issa bop.
Tumblr media
One of my favourite things in stories is when we get a bigger villain than the ‘pronounced’ villain of the story. Ren’s introduction through a manicured outstretched hand towards Kureno and Hatori is so weirdly gross in what it insinuates (especially when you apply her connection with Shigure) but again... I wanna know why she’s such an asshole to Akito specifically besides the bad mental health management within the Sohma compound. I have an inkling of what it is through memory of the manga, but like Akito and Shigure... I just wanna understand why.
Also, Ren is gorgeous and I’m sorry for simping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean... she’s kinda got a point? She just didn’t need to be so mean about it lol. It’s pretty clear that the connection the zodiac have to each other is real and something they cannot control. BUT, wouldn’t it be easier if this connection wasn’t perpetuated by outer circles of the family and if Akito herself wasn’t so cruel about it? But, I guess Akito - through her relationship with her mother - kinda doesn’t know how to genuinely show love and affection. (Which brings me into my thoughts of how the manga ends and how I kinda... have a few problems with it which I will get to... when that comes lol)
Tumblr media
Lol - weeeeeeeee! (flashes back to Tohru being yeeted into the river). Is this a part of Akito’s god-like powers?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again. She’s got a point! They’ve both got a point. But, they’re both the source of the problem. It’s really painful to see two mentally ill people duke it out. This whole institution is just rotten.
- I am super curious about what Akira’s relationship was like with the zodiac and if it was just as dark. I’m gonna assume it slightly already was, as the exclusion and degradation of the cat curse is already dark in itself but maybe the rest of the zodiac were just fine with how things were? I dunno if we actually will get the full backstory of Akira and his zodiac but I’m definitely intrigued
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, but if four crying children came up to me after I’d just consummated with my partner to reach out at my stomach chanting ‘we’ve been waiting for you’. That would disturb me and scar me for a while too so... 😂. I know it’s supposed to be ethereal and spiritual but... dude, wtf lol
Tumblr media
...I don’t like how much I’m into Ren being such a Villain™  😅
- Akito being seen as a crying child by the older zodiac members has always been interesting to me because yes, they could see her as that through mainly the age gap, general empathy and the way she sometimes irrationally acts out. But, also the depiction of Gods being seen as children having tantrums has being reflected in many different beliefs and myths (especially Greek Mythology) and I just like the fact that this all powerful, all knowing being would be compared to a child. It gives you a different perspective on power.
- Is the paper note in the CD case that Kureno gave back to Tohru an extra addition or was it always there?...
Tumblr media
Mannnn... I really wanted Isuzu to fuck shit up after seeing Tohru so upset but... *le sigh* (outfit’s still on point)
Tumblr media
But, I’m so glad we get an equal Ethereal Goddess to save Tohru! HANAJIMA! We love her, we stan her. <3
- ‘Tohru will be in my custody’ 🤣 I personally think Hana’s bluntness was a kindness in her conversation with Yuki because if I found Tohru upset? I’d automatically start firing metaphorical shots at everyone in that house
- Shigure fearing Hana makes me sleep better at night <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hana’s just like ‘hmm... sounds like someone I know... 👀’ I’m here for this parallel between Tohru and Kureno in the hopes that Tohru doesn’t ever get in as bad a situation as Kureno. Ahhh... Kureno... (Also, Laura Bailey was killing it in this scene as always)
- Hmmm... there’s something terribly poetic about Kyo saving Tohru’s scarf from oncoming traffic... but also, Kyo can’t help himself aha
Tumblr media
KWEEEN! I love this look for Uo, it’s very Kyoko. I already said this in Season 1 but I STILL need to get wool-lined jacket. Outfit Appreciation goes to her - 3.5 stars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
<3<3<3 Friendship is magic!
- Megumi is such a good egg as always! From him going to get Uo to him being so wise with his outlook on love and how it takes time to really flourish. The best!
- This whole episode ends really nicely from Tohru’s return home and Kyo washing and returning Tohru’s scarf and Yuki being happy to see Tohru and Shigure being somewhat decent. It was nice to get a bit of relief after the tornado of emotions
Tumblr media
Also, this was a nice screencap! Even Kyo is smiling!!! :))))
EPISODE 2
*takes sip of wine* ...ok.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
👀... later lol
Tumblr media
This scene really highlighted how Tohru is starting to see Shigure and the whole zodiac curse in a new and darker way. For the first time, it felt like Tohru was a little bit more guarded around Shigure and I hope they delve more into this season. Her description of her feeling around the curse being like a ‘dark well with no bottom in sight’ is pretty spot on. Ugh.
Tumblr media
Aw! Is this the last we’re getting of Small!Momiji?! I love them :3 (Momiji’s shorts look a little shorter too, like he’s growing out of them ahaha)
- I haven’t found the Yuki fan club funny since their first scene in the anime but their poor disguises made me chuckle
- Yayyy! Kyo has an obsessive fan club too? ...Yay?? 😅 haha
- ‘I won’t kill them but they can go to hell’ why is Kyo speaking like me?! 😂
Tumblr media
The fact that we got a scene of Yuki kinda admirably looking at a group of friends (boys and girls) playfully physically interacting and he unconsciously reaches out to Machi almost like he forgot about the curse? Heart eyes... 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again. Relatable. 😂 God, Yuki. You really are an airhead. Bless your soul. <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that look says it all. Damn. Kyo’s sense of hopelessness is heartbreaking but I still stand by it being understandable considering his circumstances.
Kyo freaking out about Tohru being visually upset was super cute but I couldn’t even appreciate the fluff because the whole scene had such a morbid tone to it, despite it being so visually romantic:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
KYO’S FACE!!! 💔 Ahhh, my emotions!!!! Also, that shot from Tohru’s perspective under her bangs is great.
- Poor Mitsuru, I’d ask for extra pay just for dealing with Shigure’s ass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hahah - what a great metaphor!
- Now that Shigure’s ‘true form’, so to speak, has been fully exposed all his comments that are supposed to be teasing come off so much more awful. Him insinuating Mitsuru wasn’t ‘upper class’ enough for Ritsu was awful
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
COLLLDDDD. AS. IIIIIIICE. But seriously, Shigure this whole episode was cold in many different ways but I definitely felt this personally since I’ve been told something like this by a family member before... 😕 Also, it’s just gross how both Shigure and Akito are taking their own personal issues and mistrust of each other out on to other people. The curse and the institution behind the curse complicates a lot of feelings for sure, but there’s a difference between wrong and right and I get the general feeling that they both are just using the muddy waters to their advantage. Although, I feel like Shigure is taking more advantage of this than Akito but I’ll get into that in a bit.
- There’s also something about this episode that made me sympathise a lot more with Kureno in a more understandable way. But, it also makes me question the ending of this whole story and the resolutions that happen and what life for the whole Sohma institution/family looks like after the curse has broken.. I guess, I should read ‘Fruits Basket Another’ after this, huh?
Tumblr media
😳... Shigure is so petty, man. Really?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So...
I hate this relationship. I’m sorry. I know there are loads of people who like this relationship. And I’m still giving myself space for the show and the story to convince me why it’s worth it. But... I really don’t like this relationship. It’s so toxic. In so many ways. And in a weird way, this scene made me feel a LITTLE bit more for Akito than Shigure. It feels like Shigure gaslights everyone in his life but none no more than Akito, herself. I hate the fact that he keeps saying he loves her while hurting her or disregarding her. You know, almost like he’s treating her like a child. But on the other hand, I hate the fact that Akito has lowkey gaslighted herself into thinking she can treat people however she wants because she is ‘God’. I understand this is part of the way she was brought up and it seems like life in the Sohma compound has been very isolating for her so there’s been no one really to show her better (or have the confidence to show her better). But, at least I can be a little bit more sympathetic on her side than Shigure’s. I dunno... it’s just all very ugly and toxic and I’m hoping that it’ll turn around somehow.
I just hope it’s not one of those relationships that are ‘so good cos it’s so bad’.
...I’ll briefly talk about the ending theme to end this on a good note lol:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really like this ending! I dunno if they’re gonna have two endings and two openings for this season but this ending definitely feels like it should’ve gone in the second half as it’s almost spoiler-y? But, then again what anime opening and ending isn’t packed with spoilers lol
All the illustrations are gorgeous, I’m assuming they were drawn by Takaya-sensei herself as it seems very much in her current style of artistry but my favourite illustrations are definitely the ones shown above! <3
---------------------------------------------------------
Ahhh! Fin! Sorry, about this one being super long and you probably having to scroll past a whole lot on your dash 😝 As usual, I had a lot to say. I’m open to hearing from people who actually like Shigure and Akito’s relationship btw, it’s just that everything before and episode 2 just really didn’t sail the ship for me, personally. I do want to understand! Haha
See you soooon!

Watched the Latest Marvel What-if
I don’t know why I opted to watch the dark and scary episode during Lunch when I’m stressed but I did. And much regret.
Not that it was bad! I actually genuinely enjoyed it. I’d seen a lot of gifs on Tumblr that made me go ‘huh’ and so I had to watch it and see for myself.
Spoilers beneath the cut:
So admittedly it was DARK. Like I remember people going into it like ‘Pft, Disney going to pull all the punches’
Hahahaha, nope. I’m not a big horror/gore fan but it felt like the right dose for me. I mean yeah they weren’t GRATUITOUS but they definitely had some on screen deaths. Played up the horror. Didn’t solely rely on jumpscares.
The only one really was kind of Peter accidentally jumpscaring Kurt which was great XP.
I did get spoiled that Vision was feeding people to Wanda. But when I read that he fed T’Challa to her... I thought ‘Well RIP T’Challa.’ but instead I’m like ‘OH YAY! You’re ALIVE!’
I was DEVASTATED when Hope died. I was like ‘no girl NO.’
And then she dies after going giant I’m like ‘Well... you do realize she’s going to become a giant zombie- oh we’re just leaving her there. Okay.’
And admittedly it didn’t hit me until AFTER the fact, but man they killed off ALL the ladies! Like we couldn’t have kept Okoye?
Like we couldn’t have Vision yank her from Wanda at the last minute rather than have her just be BOOM dead.
I admittedly can’t pick which of the guys I’d RATHER have died. But I just would’ve liked to have at least ONE lady survive with them. Just one!
I will say having Hope do the Antman strat everyone on the net joked about... is it dark that it was like ‘yes this is what likely would’ve happened.’
I’m actually shocked they did that.
I mean yeah they didn’t focus on it, just ‘suddenly Wasp’
I do wish it hadn’t led to her getting infected though :(
I mean I guess in theory Captain Marvel is still in existence in the Zombies universe so we’ve got A female hero? Maybe? (Plz).
Though admittedly that ending... oof.
I couldn’t tell if Thanos was already IN wakanda. The shield was still up so I assume no. But it was hard for me to tell tbh.
But seeing zombie thanos with the gauntlet just. The dread skyrocketed. He has all of them EXCEPT the mindstone, and we’re down to 2 avengers with T’Challa down a leg.
REALLY wish they’d had Okoye survive!
at least then we’d have three... not sure how that evens the odds but it’d make me happier.
Anyways I do REALLY love Bruce’s send off telling Peter to ‘Avenge us’. I LOVED that. It felt so good.
And I also just loved Hulk vs. Wanda. Since it seemed Hulk can’t get infected and we know Wanda’s OP sure. But we don’t SEE Hulk bite the dust so maybe.
Bucky though I think he’s gone. Considering that Wanda went for Hulk.
That’s another thing that bugs me, we see all three women die pretty conclusively but the men it’s more up in the air, though highly unlikely (I mean Scott survived despite being ground zero so y’know XP).
A lot of people are noting that Hank Pym is doing a LOT to the MCU. I like the comparison to Reed Richards XP. We don’t have him yet so we need one, and I’d honestly rather Hank Pym over Tony Stark.
Tony had to be the one to take the fall for making Ultron in the MCU.
I’m down to see Hank Pym being the one to mess stuff up in What if?
Though who knows whats to come XP
Overall pretty spoop gonna need to chill after all that.

Riquet Central Rhapsody Card Episode: Someday I’ll Be Like That
Akira: Hello, Riquet. It smells so good here.
Riquet: Oh, Master Sage. Nero made some cupcakes for me.
Akira: Whoa, they look so delicious. The cream decoration is adorable too.
Riquet: Ehehe, I’m glad to hear that. I helped a bit with the decoration.
Akira: Good work, Riquet! I heard that you gave the kitchen staffs of Granvelle Castle a hand with the cake the other day too.
Riquet: Yes, I heard that there weren’t enough people, so I helped with the cake decoration together with Master White. I got really nervous because I had never seen a cake that big before though.
Akira: The cake was certainly bigger than you. It’s totally understandable that you felt some pressure.
Riquet: It really was! However, Master White wasn’t deterred by that at all. He confidently applied the cream layer by layer. It was a sight to behold. I hope that someday I too won’t lose my nerves in the face of a giant cake like him.
Akira: Definitely. Someday you too will be like that.
Riquet: Ehehe, thank you. Master Sage, in return to your support, would you like to eat the cupcakes that I decorated with me?
Akira: May I? I’d be glad to!
Riquet: Yay, I’m so happy! Here, please have this one. It has the best decoration.

YOORAN #5 or #9 for @what-imfabulous-acceptit From this.
Saeran groaned as his body bounced on the mattress, several projectiles slamming into him. He heard Yoosung echo him in his own agony. He opened his mint green eyes and quickly shut them again against the light of a brand new day, slapping his palm against them and issuing a longer deeper groan. His other arm wrapped around a small body, long hair sweeping across his arm, his daughter.
“Habby New Ear!” Emiko screamed. Both Yoosung and Saeran covered their ears, Hoshi lay atop Yoosung, pushing on his father’s shoulders. Yoosung buried his face in the pillow and wished he could just die.
Akira jumped on the bed yelling “New year, new year, new year!” nonstop, his brown hair bouncing to the rhythm.
Saeran tried to reach out and capture his demonic son but his hand eye coordination seemed to be off.
“You pwomised pantakes Papa!” Emiko wrapped her chunky arms around Saeran’s neck and squeezed. He stopped his attempts to wrangle Akira and held tight to his youngest.
“Oh no no no my sweet. Daddy does the cooking; you don’t want Papa in the kitchen.” His eyes were adjusting to the light, but his head was still spinning.
Hoshi laughed as he sat up and made himself comfortable on Yoosung’s back.
“Come on!” Yoosung wailed.
Hoshi ignored his father and concentrated on his little sister. “He’s right, Papa should never be allowed in the kitchen, he set fire to it once when he…”
“I did not!” Saeran objected.
“Yes, you did.” Came the muffled confirmation from his husband. Saeran huffed and decided he was not going to try and help him get their son off him after all.
“Pancakes pancakes pancakes!” Akira kept bouncing, making Saeran’s stomach queasy. He set Emiko down on the floor and ran to the bathroom. His retching was loud.
“Was wong wif Papa?” Emiko asked, her two-year-old face scrunched up in worry.
“Get off me!” Yoosung swatted behind him to shoo away his eldest, who grudgingly slid off his back, sitting on the bed criss-cross. Yoosung rolled off the bed with a groan just as Saeran walked back into the bedroom. With a sigh he went around the bed and helped Yoosung up.
“Why don’t you give Daddy and me some time to take a shower and wake up kids. We’ll make pancakes in a bit. I promise.” Saeran said.
With a roll of his eyes Hoshi said, “I’ll make some coffee.”
Saeran and Yoosung had gone to a New Year’s Eve party and had arrived home around two in the morning. The sun was barely up but their children were abhorrently early risers. It had been quite an adjustment, as both Saeran and Yoosung were night owls.
“Come on Daddy.” Saeran grimaced as he helped a miserable Yoosung towards their bathroom.
“Yay!” Emiko opened the curtains in the bedroom and they both growled and squinted at the sudden brightness.
“Come on, let them wake up and sober up.” Hoshi chuckled and herded his siblings out of the bedroom.
“Hey! We’re not…well…not…nevermind.” Saeran let it go as Yoosung began to make retching noises. They made it to the bathroom but Yoosung got himself under control.
“I think something died in my mouth. Why did we think getting drunk would be a good idea again?” Yoosung whined.
“Because it’s been years since we went out without the kids like that. I remember it being a lot more fun.”
“Me too. Does that mean we’re getting old?” Yoosung’s voice was muffled as he tried to pull his shirt over his head. They had apparently both gotten into bed fully clothed.
“I don’t know.” Saeran yanked on Yoosung’s shirt, helping him out of it. “Maybe the kids are just draining us of our energy.” He sighed as he turned the water on in the shower. He too began to undress.
They stepped into the warmth of the water naked and exhaled with relief and satisfaction.
“Feels amazing.” Yoosung stood under the stream, Saeran wrapped around him trying to get as much on him as well.
“Mhm.”
“We better try and sober up fast. Emiko won’t wait too long for her pancakes.” Yoosung smiled.
“You’re right. She’s been looking forward to this morning since Christmas.”
Yoosung and Saeran had always made it a priority to spend time with their children, but things had begun to unravel lately. For the last year and a half, they had both been exceptionally busy. Yoosung opening a new business, finally putting his baking skills to use outside of their home, and Saeran traveling more and more because of his international art gallery openings. They had adopted Emiko in the middle of that just as she’d turned ten months old.
They both still refused to use a nanny, so Emiko and Akira were often with Yoosung. How the man did it all Saeran would never understand. But Yoosung loved being a father and he was extraordinary at it. Saeran kissed Yoosung, cupping his face and smiling at his husband.
“What was that for?” Yoosung asked, his body heating up in a much more different way than because of alcohol. Though truth be told, Saeran was still very much a drug for Yoosung. He couldn’t get enough of him. Too bad they spent so much time apart lately.
“Because I love you. And you’re an amazing husband, and an even more amazing father. I don’t know how I could have gotten through these last couple of years without you.”
“Don’t be silly! You’re my rock. My foundation. Without you I would have crumbled long ago.” Yoosung pulled Saeran closer, staring into those remarkably brilliant green eyes before closing his own amethyst-colored ones and letting their lips meet once more. A singularly common thing that always curled his toes.
“No time for that.” Saeran grudgingly stated as he pushed Yoosung back under the water and reached for the shampoo. Yoosung laughed and nodded, indeed, no time for that, yet.
Once showered, dried, and clothed, they made their way into the kitchen where the smell of fresh coffee wafted through the air.
“Hoshi, thank you for the coffee.” Yoosung hugged his eldest with one arm as he took the proffered coffee cup. Hoshi simply nodded and handed the other, larger mug, to his other father.
“Daddy!” Emiko jumped up and wrapped her arms around Yoosung’s midsection, thankfully he had been ready for the leap.
“Ready to make pancakes?” Yoosung asked the room. All his children exclaimed YES. “Let’s do it then.
It was like a ritual, everyone knowing what part to play, Saeran mostly stayed out of it and watched. By the end Emiko and Akira were covered in flour and both had chocolate mouths as they ate more chocolate chips from the bag than they put in the batter. Saeran took several photos and couldn’t wait to send them to Saeyoung and MC. Yoosung looked radiant, and their kids looked happy. In that instant, something clenched Saeran’s heart. The wonder in his children, the smile on his husband, the life they built that was filled with laughter. Certainly, there were tears as well, but they dealt with it as a family, supporting each other.
Life was filled with many things, but this was what was important. This was what life was all about. He was grateful to be able to have a family, to have a partner, to have children that could grow up in such a different way than he had. Had he to do it all over again, he would willingly go through those first 23 years of pain and anguish to have this right here. This portrait of a happy family playing out in front of him. And mostly, to be able to be a part of it.
“Babe?” Yoosung stood next to him, the children on the other side of the counter layering pancake syrup, fruit, and whipped cream on their stacks of pancakes. “What’s wrong?”
“Wrong?” Saeran was confused.
“You’re crying.”
“I am?” Saeran reached to his face and yes, there were tears on his cheeks. “Oh. I guess I am. But there’s nothing wrong. I’m just so happy.” He smiled at Yoosung and embraced him. “Thank you.” He breathed.
“For what?” Yoosung was flabbergasted.
“For loving me. For giving me this.”
“Silly. I should be thanking you for loving me. Tiny little nobody me.” Yoosung laughed.
“Don’t say that!” Saeran took a step back and looked into Yoosung’s eyes desperately.
“I was kidding. I know my worth. I just wish after all these years you finally believed that you deserved me, deserved this life.” He stroked Saeran’s cheek lovingly.
Saeran closed his eyes and leaned into that touch.
“Ewe gross, don’t look, you’re too young to see this.” Hoshi held his hands over Emiko’s eyes, but he had a giant grin on his face.
“Well, you better all look away because I’m about to kiss the love of my life, and I’m going to use tongue!” Saeran teased and did just that.
Emiko giggled but the boys turned away, though they too seemed happy.
“I believe.” Was all Saeran said when they finally came up for air.

Part Two of Leakira AU
Yay I actually continued something for once! Thank you all so much for such a positive response on Part One, which if you haven’t read is here! So if you want another chapter of this, let me know. I know there isn’t as much Leakira stuff in this bit but I couldn’t resist adding in a few other characters, who you may recognize. Wink wink nudge nudge.
AND! I posted the first chapter on AO3, and I’ll get this one on there soon, so if you want to read on there: here’s the link. Alright, that’s all I have to say, so here you go, Part Two:
After a fast journey towards the Florencent province, Leandro directed the bike towards the east concentration camps. As they crested a hilled road, the camp was easy to spot. Leandro’s opinion, it seemed to radiate evil. Where the rest of the city was packed with skyscrapers and full of bustling life, this small portion was full of rubble. The tallest buildings were the flat prisons where the occupants were forced to spend most of their time and the rest of the plain was brown and desolate. Hignua soldiers were everywhere, and easily outnumbered the prisoners two to one.
“So, your friends are in there?” Leandro asked, breaking the silence that had begun to stretch uncomfortably between them.
“Why do you care?” Akira shot back, and began making his way down the road.
“Because they seem important to you!” Leandro shouted, trying to make himself heard as Akira continued on his way. All he got for his efforts was a disbelieving look.
“You don’t even know me.”
“But I want to!” Leandro called, trying one last time.
This time he was completely ignored, and in the blink of an eye, Akira was gone, his inky black hair blending into the darkness.
Akira was flustered, which was odd, because he couldn’t remember the last time his mind had been so disorganized. And right before his first big mission, of all things. He was so close to rescuing his friends. Layla and Rowan and Dante. All three of them had gone in undercover, to gain information on the Hignua plans for planet Direx. From what he had heard, it didn’t look good for the planet’s pulsing multicultural environment. Think, absolute destruction.
But right now it was up to him to get his friends out. Their position had been compromised earlier in the week and just thinking about the fact that they could be being tortured right that second made him walk faster. He had his sword out and ready, its telltale rebel markings faded away with the press of a concealed button on the handle. He didn’t know why he hadn’t pressed the button earlier with Leandro, why he had trusted him.
Finally, he made it to the edge of the prison camp, still using shadows for cover. He stood there counting the seconds between patrols and learning the rhythm, but his anxiousness made him rush, and he darted out of his hiding spot a moment too soon. The last patrol turned around quickly at the sound of his footsteps, immediately raising their guns.
“HALT, and give verification.”
The voice beneath the helmet was robotic, meaning they were only sentries. Akira gritted his teeth and charged, taking down the two enemy fighters with four blows. He knew he didn’t have time to hide the bodies, so he sprinted onwards, towards the main building, where he knew Layla, Rowan, and Dante were being kept.
Back up on the hill, Leandro was having something of a crisis. When you give someone a ride to their rebel mission, do you stay and make sure they have a getaway vehicle? Especially if you really, really want to get that someone’s number? Should he have gone with Akira to help him break his friends out and prove that he actually did care? No other social situation had prepared him for any of these questions he was asking himself now. Even using the binoculars he kept stored in his seat compartment he couldn’t spot Akira’s lithe form as it inevitably hurried towards the center of the prison.
Leandro was so invested in looking for Akira that he nearly jumped five feet into the air as an alarm suddenly rang out. Loud and piercing, it was easily identifiable as a warning bell. With every renewed ring, Leandro grew more antsy. Finally he had had enough.
“Fuck it,” he muttered, and double checked that he had both of his pistols. Then he began sprinting as fast as he could down the hill.
Akira was making progress. He had entered the main cell facility as soon as the alarm had gone off, already taken out a dozen guards, and was now standing at the door to his friends’ cell. Probably where they were kept when they weren’t being interrogated. All it took for the door to open was a quick, vicious stab of his sword into the lock.
When he spotted his friends, his knees wobbled a bit in relief. All of them were handcuffed, and shouted with relief when they saw him. Layla’s mouse-brown hair was sticking up in all directions and her green eyes, normally skeptical and cold, were warm and filled with emotion. Her brother would be relieved to see her with no extreme injuries. Rowan’s lanky limbs were sprawled out in front of her, where she was sitting against the wall. Most of her long blonde hair had come out of its normal braid, covering most of her face. Dante looked to be in the worst shape; his normally tan skin was pale and his ankle was resting at unnatural angle. He was the only one to not exclaim when he barged in.
After a quick removal of all of their bonds, Akira and Rowan helped Dante to his feet. Akira pulled knife out of his boot and handed it to Layla with a loaded expression. Even though she was more accustomed to computers and hacking, Layla knew how to use a blade. They began to make their way out of the building, moving way too slowly for Akira’s tastes.
As they reached the end of the hallway, they began to hear the echo of laser shots in the distance. Akira barely spared the noise a thought, knowing that any distraction was a good distraction. However, as the noise grew closer and closer, he began to worry. Layla turned around from where she was leading them, raising a questioning eyebrow. Turning to Rowan, he motioned her to stop.
“Rowan, you stay here with Dante. Take this,” he held out his final blade, “And don’t go anywhere unless you need to. Layla and I are going to check out the source of that noise and come straight back, I promise.”
Rowan accepted the small dagger, and pushed her hair behind her ears as she nodded, “If you don’t come back in, well, in a reasonable amount of time, I’m going after you.”
After a parting nod, Akira led the way towards the commotion, Layla trotting after him, having to work harder because of her short legs. Rounding the corner, they both stopped in their tracks.
“Who the quiznak is that?” Layla exclaimed.
It was Leandro, and he was holding off a lot of Hignua. He held a blaster in both hands, and was taking down soldiers with astoundingly accurate shots to the head, easily nailing them between the eyes through their visor gap. Akira was shocked still, his sword hanging uselessly at his side.
“Le- Leandro?” he managed to choke out.
At the sound of Akira’s voice, Leandro paused, swinging around to face him. He was sweating profusely, but his expression was hard. Even so, he managed a half-hearted smile, one side of his mouth pulling higher than the other. His eyes abruptly widened as a beam whizzed past his ear, close enough that his hair began to smolder, so he immediately turned back around.
“A little help, maybe?” he shouted over the din, jerking Akira from whatever trance he had been trapped in. He dashed forward with his sword, assaulting the barricade of guards, Layla close behind him, still shouting questions about Leandro.
He found himself surrounded, fighting back to back with her, stabbing and slashing as Leandro’s friendly fire caused havoc around them.
“So when did you meet the cute sharpshooter?” Layla called over her shoulder.
Akira jerked like he had touched an electric fence, and barely ducked a wide punch from a nearby Hignua.
“He’s our ride to the ship,” he grunted, still fighting, “And why do you care if he’s cute? Aren’t you like, twelve?”
“I’m fifteen!” she protested. Indignant.
Soon, the hallway was filled with incapacitated Hignua guards, and the three of them just stood there, staring and panting, before Layla finally spoke.
“So are you gonna introduce me or…” she trailed off.
Akira rolled his eyes and gestured between the two of them, “Layla, Leandro, Leandro this is Layla. Both of you are annoying so you’ll get along fine.”
Both of the indicated subjects began to protests, but Akira waved at them to be quiet and turned around to go and get Rowan and Dante. Ten minutes later, the entire group, now one member stronger hurried outside and into the surrounding hills. When they reached Leandro’s bike a problem soon became apparent.
“How in the multiverse are we all supposed to fit on that?” Layla exclaimed.
“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” Rowan offered.
Leandro smiled at them, and Akira rolled his eyes at the obviously flirtatious look.
“Not to worry ladies, my bike is well equipped,” he announced, reaching around the handlebars to press a cleverly hidden button. With a rusty-sounding groan, two panels began to unfold from the sides of the bike, covering the giant fans that created the lift needed to get off the ground. When the expansion was finally complete, there was ample room for three more passengers, but no seats or seat belts in sight.
“So I usually just use this function to carry groceries, but I’m sure it can manage people as well. You’ll just have to hang on tight,” Leandro explained. He hopped into the driver’s seat, and the others helped him load Dante into the second seat, since it wouldn’t be safe for him on the extended area with his bad leg.
Finally, they were all ready and situated. Akira gave Leandro the directions to their ship, and as he pulled away, Akira let out a breath of relief. His first mission definitely hadn’t gone as planned, but he was thinking that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Masanori’s Trick or treating adventure!
“Look at me, Daddy!”
Masanori twirls around, showing off his black bobbed wig. “I’m YOU! Uncle Uta helped me.”
“You look just like Daddy,” Hairu says with a grin. She’s Rapunzel, and Ui is Flynn Rider.
“Yay!” Masanori claps his hands.
Ui is too happy to speak, so he hugs his child instead. “Now, be safe out there.”
“I will!” Masanori hurries outside to join the other GOAT children.
“Trick or treat!” Masanori first rings Touka and Kaneki’s door.
“Yes?” Touka, dressed like a fortune teller, falls back. “It’s a CCG investigator! AHHHHH!”
Masanori giggles. “No, it’s just Masanori!”
Kaneki, having been forced into a purple dragon costume, hands Masanori sugar tubes.
“Thank you!” Masanori skips to Ayato and Hinami’s next.
“Rawr!” Ayato is dressed like a pirate; Hinami, a yellow parrot. They hand Masanori chocolate.
Naki is Frankenstein and Miza his bride.
“Oo-oooooh.” Miza zombie walks towards the children, and they shriek.
“What tasty children!” Pennywise Itori greets them next, with angel Yomo and devil Uta behind her.
“Watch out, I’ll use my quinque,” teases Masanori. “Wait, Uncle Yomo, are those your ukaku wings.”
“With some help from Uta,” Yomo says uncomfortably.
Nishiki is dressed as a spider and Kimi a butterfly, connected by a web, and they hand out homemade cupcakes to thrill the children.
The Quinx mansion is next, and Saiko greets them as Gintoki. Hsaio as a ninja and Shirazu as a shark appear behind her, followed by Aura as perhaps a ghost - a white sheet, as any rate - and Higemaru as some monster of his own devising. Urie and Mutsuki join as Cookie Monster and a cat, respectively.
Cinderella Yoriko and Prince Charming Takeomi hand out more baked goods, and then it’s on to the Tsukiyama’s.
Chie as a bat hangs in a tree, snapping as many pictures as she can.
“Greetings, mortals!” Tsukiyama thrusts open his front door, dressed in rich wizarding robes. Kanae as an elf holds up ring pops.
Arima opens his door, mortified. He’s dressed as a black goat, and sexy witch Eto looks all too pleased with herself.
The children plod over to Hirako’s, where the three Musketeers pretend to attack as a giant Shiba hands them Kit-kats. Hajime appears to chase off the Musketeers, complete as Superman.
Kurona as a vampire and Seidou as a greek god provide Masanori with his favorite gift yet: caramel, the sticky stuff Mommy and Daddy don’t often buy after he smeared it across the entire kitchen.
An enormous version of Maris Stella answers the door at Akira and Amon’s, and the Suzuya Squad as Robin Hood and his merry men  - including Hanbee as Maid Marion - swoop in to deliver Skittles.
When Masanori turns around, he sees all the parents gathered. “All right, off to our last stop.”
“Where?” Masanori asks.
“You don’t think your other uncle would miss this, do you?” Hairu asks lightly.
The adults are still wary as they enter the jail. But their reserve soon gives way to laughter when Haise Sasaki greets Kaneki in Furuta’s voice. “Hi, me! We look cute today!”
“I hate you,” Kaneki says.
“I love us,” says Haise. He showers the children with chocolate, and Masanori thinks himself the luckiest kid alive.

How Dragon Ball Super Fixed Its Broly Problem
I'm a pretty late convert to the religion of Dragon Ball. It didn't come on the limited number of channels that my family had growing up, and when I finally had access to it, I was too busy saying things like "Excuse me, but I only watch psychological anime, like the indie series you probably haven't heard of, Death Note." But in late 2017, when I bought the first three volumes of the manga on a whim, I was swept away in Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama's delightful illustrations, inspiring stories, and awesome scenes of people hitting eachother. And while I devoured that, I watched the shows. And after I had consumed that like a gluttonous creature that subsists on Kamehamaha drawings alone, I made my way to the movies.
And it's in the movies that I found Broly. And I really wanted to like Broly, with "wanted to" being the key part of that statement.
See, while Broly could most easily be compared to Western comic characters like Doomsday or Bane, characters that are mostly around to flex as they beat our heroes to a pulp, I find Broly's most apt pop culture counterpart to be current WWE superstar Brock Lesnar. If you haven't seen Brock Lesnar, he looks like someone tried to build a dump truck out of steak and he is unfairly strong and agile. However, as we learned with the three prior Broly movies and some portions of Brock Lesnar's recent WWE career, it is really easy to get sick of both of them.
See, both of them are built around the idea of "You might have strong villains, but nobody is as strong as this guy." Frequently, in shonen shows, you find a kind of power escalation as the story goes on. Vegeta is stronger than Raditz, Frieza is stronger than Vegeta, Cell is stronger than Frieza, and so on. It's similar in wrasslin': The champion gets challengers that pose new kinds of threats, whether they're more powerful than him or smarter or have a more bumpin' theme music. However, Broly and Brock Lesnar seem to skip the line all the way to the front. They become the final boss fight as soon as they show up.
And if you can put them in great stories, they're really good characters to have on hand. Like in 2003, when legit Olympic gold medal wrestler Kurt Angle returned from a neck injury and faced Brock in a series of classic matches. Brock is younger, fresher, stronger and more vicious, but when the chips are down, nobody can outwrestle Kurt Angle. However, will Angle's injury flare up again, or will Brock get too cocky? That's a great, simple story. And until Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Broly had never gotten a really great, simple story.
Now, don't get me wrong: The trio of Broly films from 1993 and 1994 aren't bad. It's just that the character of Broly doesn't really have a heart in them. He's just big and pissed, which makes him way less interesting than the sadistic megalomaniac Frieza or the vane sociopath Cell. But in this Dragon Ball Super film, we find a Broly that was exiled for being so powerful as a child, someone whose only real contact is his vengeful father. He's a giant, beefy puppy. That's already better than being a monstrous psychopath. We EXPECT Broly to be a monstrous psychopath. By making him relatively peaceful with the ability to unlock this feral, ridiculous strength when he gets emotional is a bit more interesting.
The fights in Dragon Ball Super: Broly work for the character, too, because he's a good fighter, and not just a powerful one. I feel like it would be really easy to have him fight in the style of someone like Marvel's Juggernaut, where most of his appeal is that no matter how hard you punch him, it probably won't hurt him. It's hard to hurt Broly, too, but having him go toe-to-toe with Goku and also display some finesse gives his action sequences lasting power. You want to see him fight over and over, because he's not a one trick Saiyan.
Which brings me to the end, where (SPOILERS) Goku finds Broly and talks about wanting to fight him again and teach him how to better use his power. The other Broly films ended with this climactic explosion of "YAY. WE THREW HIM INTO THE SUN." And that's a great way to dispatch a heartless demon, but not someone like this film's Broly. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the first time that the character has been treated with any kind of care or empathy. He's not meant to just be a boss fight and is now a part of the Dragon Ball universe now.
When you're writing a "Now this guy is stronger than everyone else" character like Broly or Brock Lesnar or Bane or some other mountain of muscle whose name begins with a "B," you have to treat them like an actual character that you want to use, and not just as an obstacle for your main hero to overcome. Because otherwise, what's the point? Someone stronger is just gonna come along anyway.

Manga the Week of 11/1/17
SEAN: (stares brokenly)
We’ll start off with the titles that are already out but were announced too late to be in last week’s column, which is unfortunately becoming a weekly occurrence. First off, Bookwalker debuts a new digital light novel, The Ryuo’s Work Is Never Done! This is a very popular series in Japan about a teenage shogi master who takes an elementary school girl as his apprentice. The prologue is jaw-droppingly appalling, but I am hoping for the best? Maybe?
MICHELLE: I thought I might check this out for a moment before I read some of the preview.
SEAN: Kodansha also has its digital horror debut, I Want to Hold Aono-kun So Badly I Could Die. Despite the title, not based on a light novel. It runs in Afternoon.
MICHELLE: I find this kind of intriguing, actually. It doesn’t appear gory, at least.
SEAN: Now on to next week, and it’s a killer week even based on the experience of previous killer weeks. Dark Horse gives us yet another Hatsune Miku manga spinoff with Future Delivery.
Drawn & Quarterly delights us with another Kitaro volume, Kitaro’s Strange Adventures.
ASH: Yes! I’m always looking forward to more Kitaro.
SEAN: J-Novel Club has *five* novels debuting next week, which I think may be a record for them. We have Clockwork Planet 2, Demon King Daimaou 3, Infinite Dendrogram 3, Invaders of the Rokujouma!? 7.5 (no, you’re reading that right, there’s a reason for the .5), and Paying to Win in a VRMMO 5. Phew!
Kodansha also has a GIANT PILE of digital coming out. In addition to whatever new horror title they debut next week, we have All Out!! 2 (more rugby!), Beauty Bunny 2, Black Panther and Sweet 16 3, DAYS 6, DEATHTOPIA 5, Drowning Love 3, Love’s Reach 4, and Peach Heaven 8. More titles to get behind on!
MICHELLE: Dang! I’m definitely keen on several of those.
ASH: It’s great that so much digital is being released these days, but it’s so easy to loose track of what is being released (and when, apparently).
SEAN: In print, the big release next week is the Akira 35th Anniversary Box Set. If you want a new, huge, handsome version of Akira, this is the title for you. Do Millennials remember Akira?
MICHELLE: Random note: years before it became a fandom word, there was a panel of a rat in Akira who had the dialogue, “Squee.”
MELINDA: That rat was ahead of its time.
SEAN: Animal Land has its 2nd to last volume (13)! The last one is not yet scheduled because, well, y’know, Animal Land. But yay anyway!
ASH: I will be glad if we can actually make it to the end! The series ended up really growing on me.
SEAN: Fairy Tail has a 5th volume of its Master’s Edition, which tries to impress next to Akira’s box set but sadly comes in second. Which, well, Fairy Tail should be used to.
ASH: Ha! This probably is the edition to get for anyone starting to collect the series, though.
SEAN: Kigurumi Guardians gets a 2nd volume. The first was very… strange. I wonder what direction it will go.
MICHELLE: I need to read these!
SEAN: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime also has a 2nd manga volume, as we wait for December to see the light novel.
ASH: I found the first volume surprisingly entertaining.
SEAN: The big debut from Kodansha is To Your Eternity, the new series from the author of A Silent Voice. I’m hoping for big things! It runs in Weekly Shonen Magazine, and is far more supernatural than her prior series.
MICHELLE: Ooh.
ASH: I am definitely looking forward to this one. The artwork is beautiful and the story devastating, from what I’ve heard.
MELINDA: Well, that sounds pretty interesting.
SEAN: Seven Seas has the first of its releases in the Devilman franchise with Devilman Grimoire. This remake of Devilman ran in Champion Red Ichigo, and all I can tell you is try not to get too attached to the characters.
ASH: That seems to be fair advice.
SEAN: There’s another omnibus of Freezing, containing Vols. 17-18..
The Girl from the Other Side: Siuil A Run has a 3rd volume of vaguely heartwarming, vaguely disquieting beauty.
MICHELLE: I am looking forward to this very, very much.
ASH: Same. The Girl from the Other Side is a tremendous series.
SEAN: Seven Seas’ big release next week (sorry, Devilman) is In This Corner of the World which is coming out as one big omnibus. Old-timers may recall that J-Manga released some of this series digitally, but here it is in print. It ran in Futabasha’s Manga Action, and is from the creator of Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms.
ASH: I’m planning on picking this one up. I actually still need to see the anime adaptation, too.
SEAN: Speaking of omnibuses, Vertical Comics has the first in their omnibus re-release of The Flowers of Evil.
And now it’s time for Yen. Amusingly, this list was originally larger – some titles are delayed due to shipping issues with the recent storms, and so be prepared for a pile of Yen every week for the next few weeks. This is a REALLY big pile even so, though.
Digital? We have you covered. There’s Corpse Princess 13 and Saki 12. There are also digital editions of Accel World and The Irregular at Magic High School’s light novels, being released in chunks to catch up ASAP. We get Accel World 1-4 and Mahouka 1-2.
On the light novel front, Yen On debuts a new series, The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria. This is somewhat unique as, like Psycome, it does not seem to have a manga or anime attached to it but was licensed anyway. It seems to involve time loops – which we know Western fans LOVE after Endless Eight.
ASH: Say that again?
SEAN: On the light novel front, Yen On debuts a new series, The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria. This is somewhat unique as, like Psycome, it does not seem to have a manga or anime attached to it but was licensed anyway. It seems to involve time loops – which we know Western fans LOVE after Endless Eight.
There’s also a 4th DanMachi: Sword Oratoria, 9th Log Horizon, 5th (and penultimate) Psycome, and 5th Re: Zero.
Debuts from Yen Press next week are Gabriel Dropout, a Dengeki Daioh comedy about Angels down on Earth, Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia (Masou Gakuen HxH), which is another very ecchi title set at a magical school, based on a light novel (which Yen doesn’t have). There’s also a new spinoff debuting with Danmachi: Sword Oratoria’s manga debuting.
Ending next week is The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan with its 10th volume. You can see what I said about this in my review here.
The rest we’ll divide into two: manga based on light novels and manga that is not. For the former, we have the 11th A Certain Magical Index; 2nd Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash; 4th Overlord; two Re: Zero volumes with the 3rd volume of the 2nd arc and the first volume of the 3rd arc; and the 4th in the Sword Art Online spinoff Girls’ Ops.
We also have a 12th Akame Ga KILL!, a 24th Black Butler, the 9th Horimiya, the 2nd Sekirei omnibus (in print), and the 14th Triage X.
MICHELLE: I’ll always appreciate more Horimiya!
ASH: It’s such a great series.
SEAN: And there is the 6th Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro, which I love so much it gets kudos away from the group.
Lastly, there’s another Soul Eater artbook, imaginatively called Soul Eater: Soul Art 2.
I compressed this list a lot, and it still looks long. And remember, Yen delayed 9 titles to the week after! What are you getting next week?

Manga the Week of 3/15/17
SEAN: A relatively light week next week, relatively being the operative term. But first, let’s double back and look at titles out THIS week that weren’t announced till the weekend.
Remember how we used to say you couldn’t sell sports manga over here? Or 40+-volume series? Clearly digital-only is a good way to test the waters on flouting that rule. Case in point: The debut of Ace of the Diamond, a baseball manga that ran in Shonen Magazine from 2016-2015, and then, like many baseball manga, started up again with Season 2. It will be interesting reading a non-Adachi baseball series.
MICHELLE: !!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!
ANNA: Interesting. I don’t know if I’m up for 40+ volumes but I will check it out.
SEAN: All-Rounder Meguru is a mixed martial arts manga from the creator of Eden: It’s An Endless World, though hopefully a bit less bleak. It ran for 19 volumes in Evening magazine.
And Giant Killing is another 40+ volume manga, this time about soccer, that runs in Weekly Morning. Naturally, being long-running sports manga, the primary audience in the West for these titles will be female BL fans.
MICHELLE: !!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! I might even try All-Rounder Meguru, while I’m at it.
ASH: Wow! Kodansha is really killing it (sorry, I couldn’t help myself) with the recent digital releases! I’m very excited to see Giant Killing and All-Rounder Meguru being added to the mix.
MELINDA: I doubt I have the patience for either of the epic sports manga on this list, but I like watching Michelle’s squee.
MICHELLE: I will likely always have an abundance of squee for sports manga.
SEAN: Also, Persona 3’s 3rd volume from Udon moved up a week without me noticing. Whoops.
ASH: Can’t really blame you for that; sometimes I wonder if Udon even knows when it will be releasing something…
SEAN: Now onto titles actually out next week. J-Novel Club has some more volume twos, as we get another I Saved Too Many Girls and Caused the Apocalypse, which presumably adds more girls.
We also get the 2nd Mixed Bathing in Another Dimension, which is probably the biggest surprise of all J-Novel’s titles for me as I really enjoyed it.
Kodansha has a 4th Complex Age, which mixes cosplay and drama quite well.
ASH: I’ve been fairly consistently surprised and impressed by Complex Age.
SEAN: They also have the 2nd digital volume of House of the Sun, which seems to be on a much faster publishing schedule than the other new digital volumes.
MICHELLE: Ooh! I’ll definitely be checking out these two.
SEAN: One Peace has a 9th volume of not-really-yuri series Maria Holic.
Seven Seas has the debut of Hana & Hina After School, which is really yuri. It’s by Milk Morinaga, probably the most prolific yuri manga artist in terms of North American licenses.
They also have a 2nd Seven Princes of the Thousand Year Labyrinth, which hopefully continues to be, as I called it, “the most Comic Zero-Sum series ever”.
ASH: That really does seem to be an apt description.
SEAN: SuBLime gives us a new side story for Don’t Be Cruel, subtitled Akira Takanashi’s Story, though it’s unclear who this volume will focus on. (How’s my deadpan?)
MICHELLE: Heh.
SEAN: And they have the 8th volume of the Finder Deluxe Edition.
ASH: While this is the eighth volume, it’s the first one to be released since SuBLime took over the series. (Previously, it was released by Digital Manga.) The actually first volume in this edition will be released later this year; it’s nice that SuBLime isn’t making readers wait for the most recent content.
SEAN: Vertical has a 5th volume of Mysterious Girlfriend X, which I think is approaching its climax.
Viz not only has the 3rd Legendary Edition of The Legend of Zelda, which has both Majora’s Mask and A Link to the Past, but also the first volume of the latest in the series, Twilight Princess.
ASH: Unlike some of the other games (I’m a bad Zelda fan), I’ve actually played Twilight Princess. I’m looking forward to its adaptation.
SEAN: At last, the final omnibus of Viz’s re-release of Ranma 1/2! It even ends with a wedding! Don’t let that fool you, though, this is still Takahashi at her most Takahashi. Still well worth reading.
ASH: I’m still very happy that Viz found a way to keep Ranma 1/2 in print.
SEAN: And there’s a 23rd volume of Rin-Ne, which apparently will have a surprise announcement in Japan soon. New anime season? Spinoff? They found Sakura’s repressed rage?
As I said, light week is relative. What’ll you be getting next week?
