Yellow Roller Skates
crickets chirp
I stretch my aching body
my mind races
they stop.
thoughts continue to swirl
stagnant yet forever in motion
wading in black lagoons
I want to stop swimming.
twirling,
twirling is for children.
I should be mature now
An Adult
steadfast in yellow glides of roller skates in slow motion
sure footed, the ground flies with me
girls twirl
women fly
my mind swirls.
uncertainty, muffles with it’s clouded possibilities
thoughts race to the finish line for emotional reactions.
affluence seems to pull further away
in a sinking light blue scene.
gray with dull aches
and temple throbs
my mind begs to stand still
to stay put.
long enough to glide yellow roller skate streaks.
