why do you have a problem with people calling JC homophobic? he IS hompphobic, it's not an opinion or analysis it's ON the text, i don't have any issue with people liking him if they're into that but denying something that's written explicitly on the text on multiple occasions is engaging willingly in bad reading comprehension or blind revisionism. facts don't care about feelings, he is what he is a serial murderer and a OTT homophobe
Ok, this made me rethink my statement. And oh boy, I'm glad that I did.
I'll link this post to my answer about Jiang Cheng, thank you for this ask anon!
Now, before letting you read the facts I actually forgot (and please, please read this): I thought Jiang Cheng acted that way because of his hatred and anger towards Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. Read the following and understand why I forgot a really important part (even if small) of the novel.
Ok, thanks to my google search (found this tumblr post, in particular), I realized that WOW I forgot something really big.
The thing is, I read the book only once, and I stupidly read it one of the most stressful times of my year, while I was studying for a university exam.
I did read the extras again a couple months ago, but I never read the book again because I didn't have a reason to. Not only that, with me falling a bit out of the fandom because I vastly prefer TGCF now, I mainly stopped reading about it. What i remember is mostly a 50/50 rift between people saying that Jiang Cheng is homophobic, and people saying that he's not.
So, I checked the Italian translation part in the novel that matches the one I found in English and yes, I genuinely forgot about it.
I also never paid a lot of attention to posts that talked about Jiang Cheng, because again, he's one of my least favorite characters. Even when I was thoroughly obsessed with MDZS, I only skimmed past the posts that talked about him. I never even really delved in fanfictions that had him as a major character, and I didn't read a lot of them in any case.
Basically, I forgot a really important detail about him, and I never bothered myself to check, because I brushed the thing off as another tumblr war. This, combined with the awful timing of me reading this book without having a clear enough mind, and the fact that I don't care about Jiang Cheng enough to do more research that's not what I remember and what a general search might give me, made for the assumption that Jiang Cheng is actually just a very bad-tempered, vengeful, repressed person that's not actually homophobic but only despises Wangxian.
Once again, anon, thank you for this ask. I probably wouldn't have checked anything, if it wasn't for this.
