Chat's voice is soft ; he can't pretend that there weren't moments he'd entertained some measure of hurt - maybe even a little bitterness, a little frustration. But now that they're here, sitting together under the moonlight, the same way they had for so long, he can name what the emotion really had been the whole time : loneliness. Even with their world falling apart - with the Kwamis gone, with Hawkmoth's evolution, with the team they'd been building in tatters, it really is still them.

Does that make him selfish, to relish in this quiet together for a few stolen seconds? Maybe. After all, he's not the hero that Ladybug is. He isn't good like her, inherently. He is destruction, the shadow in her light, and Chat still doesn't know what to do with that some days. Later, perhaps, he'll worry over his own failures, the ways in which he'd let everything fall apart on his watch - but for now, he carefully reaches out, resting a hand on Ladybug's shoulder, and lets himself sink into that feeling that she alone inspires in him.

The words get stuck and all he can do is drape his arm across her shoulders and pull her against his side, hoping that it's enough comfort to make even the slightest difference.

"Are you uh-- doing alright in school?" Hesperia inquired. The base of the resistance was certainly something. It was equipped in an old defunct sewer tunnel, situated somewhere on the outskirts of the city. Hesperia remained in costume when at HQ-- as he had no need to detransform.

It also kept his identity a secret-- which was imperative.

mlb verse headcanon time! WE NEED TO GO DEEPER. what is childe's kwami's name? what concept does it preside over? what power does it give him? what is his relationship with his kwami like and why does it encourage him to be Like That™? how did he get his miraculous? what are his motives and/or goals for using it? what was he doing before he got his miraculous and how did becoming a holder change him? how does him being a miraculous holder affect his relationship with his family?

everything i am about to say is all come up with on the spot so it is subject to change! BUT HELLO HERE WE GO MIRACULOUS VERSE CHILDE THOUGHTS:

i. ㅤok so we already have a name for the whale thanks to the genshin leaks but just because i feel like it phonetically sounds close to the kwami names, i wanna name his kwami flood! he's a very calm and collected little guy who greatly contrasts childe in personality, but their goals for chaos to qualm boredom is the same! they're two peas in a pod as much as flood will try to criticize him for being reckless /: and yes he looks like an itty bitty narwhal, with the teeny horn and all!

ii.ㅤ i'd like to place flood as the kwami of disorder. it's rather close to plagg, but basically i think of it as a concept that breeds conflict, opposition, confusion. it thrives off the conflict between hawk moth and the ladybug-chat noir duo and Would like things to continue the way they are. perhaps he and childe have even helped one side or the other in order to keep things interesting? they're so annoying fr fr. ㅤㅤㅤbonus: ㅤflood takes the shape of a singular earring on his left ear, much alike to the one he has in canon. it glows a pretty blue shade much like ajax's own eyes when flood is communicating

iii. ㅤif not already hinted by the above answers, tartaglia (ajax's transformation) and flood are ironically neutral parties to miraculous conflict conceptually, but in action they both enable the conflict for their own amusement. of course, the last thing he wants is paris destroyed while he's here (i'm going to assume he's a transfer student in college rn but, we'll see!), but with flood as his companion, they can do absolutely anything together (❁´◡`❁) ㅤtoday, he's an ally to ladybug. tomorrow?ㅤ who knows...

iv. ㅤi haven't quite figured out how he found his miraculous... it isn't unusual for him to be finding different objects to send back home as gifts for his family, so i imagine it was something he picked up by accident and he awakened flood. i will have to get back on this for specifics on How it was found though...

v. ㅤi do like the thought that he's studying business management here, or if i do peg his age to the one i have in canon, he could be working as a toymaker? the reason i wanted to place him in college was to make interaction with the miraculous kids more likely and much easier to bump into HAJDAHD

the thing about how meeting flood is something i'm going to leave up in the air. i do want it to parallel to canon that perhaps flood corrupted childe too, and childe was a willing host? i also like the thought of tartaglia being able to consume the akuma butterflies 🤔 many thoughts!

Luka sits back against the wall of his mother's houseboat, guitar slung across his lap as Marinette paced, going a mile a minute about the issue she was currently dealing with. She'd started in the middle, and while Luka was doing his best to keep up, he wasn't entirely certain he'd picked up the beginning thread of this conversation.

When Marinette had to pause to breathe, he offers her a smile, putting his guitar to the side for the moment, so he could reach out to squeeze her shoulders.

"Take a deep breath," he murmurs, demonstrating, doing what he can to give her something to match. "Then tell me what this boils down to, and how I can help." Because he absolutely wants to, but he also wants to make sure Marinette's okay first.

"Y-yeah." A utter upon realizing their predicament. It was a simple task, retrieving a notebook he accidentally left in pottery class. Curiosity took the better of them to peek at their sculptures in the drying room. The room equipped with a door which locked from the outside. The clicking behind didn't initially worry Nathanaël's heart until the handle refused to turn after a few hard twists. "It's after school, our parents should at least notice." The redhead retrieved his phone, checking the charge. Low percentage, of course, he always charged it once back home. "Tell me you have your phone with you." He flinched a little from a sting in his chest, biting his lips to stop himself from clutching the spot. Nathanaël never had this painful issue until after his akumatization and... it was always when around her. "A-actually, you got a bobby pin?" [!]

Cordelia wasn't still quite used to the human world yet. Getting used to being a human was one thing, but running into a sudden akuma attack was another! She didn't think it'd be this dangerous, but at least she had some help from a kind induvial.

▬▬▬ ☁      It was nice of her to try && make him feel better. He just wasn't prepared for going back to class after his akumatization. What if his classmates were upset with him? After all, he hadn't really made any actual friends yet, what right did he have to be as upset as he had been? MK knew now that his emotions had just been taken advantage of && that he wasn't fully in control of what had happened -- He was still nervous about facing everyone, though.

I think the most defining moment of Robin's life was when her brother Haruki ran out on her. She had grown up being told that she was blessed. She had a big brother, an elder sibling who would be her best friend and protector for the rest of her life.

She felt betrayed, knowing that Haruki had such doubts about being the protector of the forest and didn't tell her. She was wounded when he barely looked at her the night he ran away, like she wasn't even there.

It told her that the forest was full of unspeakable things. And perhaps she was one of them. Cursed.

𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐏𝐈𝐃. Not because Chloé didn't want to do something nice, but because — in all honesty — she didn't think anyone would believe she was sincere. She had been trying, really trying, lately to turn it around. She wasn't perfect ( as much as she liked to pretend she was ), and she had definitely stumbled along the way, but she liked to think she had made a little progress in mending the bridges she had burned. Chloé just hoped everyone else saw it that way.

Her scowl softened a little, morphing into something like defeat as she slumped forward with her head bowed. If someone had told her a year ago that she and Marinette Dupain-Cheng would end up being somewhat friends, she would have laughed. Long and loud. Yet, here they were, and Marinette hadn't begrudged her for her mishaps as Chloé tried to make amends.

❝ But — ❞ Everyone likes getting gifts! is what she wanted to say. Whenever she was sad or upset — which, in the past, had been pretty often — she could always count on her father spoiling her to curb any unseemly outburst. Maybe it didn't make her happy, true, but... it had placated her for a while. It had been enough, or she had thought so, anyway. Maybe Marinette had a point. And really, if she thought about it, the person she had been thinking of probably wouldn't have been placated by flashy shows of money. Chloé let out a breath. ❝ ...Fine. I... want to do something nice... for Sabrina. ❞

paris is certainly beautiful this time of night , he thinks as he runs over top of the rooftops. he was in paris for a favour to chat noir -- the senior , as he teased her earlier since there was now a parisian hero who was wearing her name and her aesthetic -- and even though he doesn't owe her anything ... well. nothing says paris than breaking into the louvre just to decorate , he thinks.

speaking of chat noir ( the junior , this time ) , his partner , ladybug , was chasing after him ( he's pretty sure chat noir was chasing the other chat noir , which , good luck to him , she isn't as nice as kid is ) , and while he was used to detectives chasing after him , there was a different thrill being chased by a hero. for once , she was able to following him over the rooftops directly rather than just following from the group. in another , he might not have to dodge soccer balls , but avoiding her yo-yo was interesting enough.

it was after one particularly interesting dodge , involving his flexibility , parkour , and awareness of the next three rooftops that caused @yinbug to ask , more even than he would have thought after running after him for at least ten minutes , " where'd you learn to pull a stunt like that ? '

he can't help but laugh in return , even though he doesn't slow down , adrenaline keeping his mood up. ' talent , miss ladybug. ' a sharp grin , characteristic of kaitō kid when he has someone right where he wants them , blossoms on the bottom of his face. ( the only visible part of his face ). ' say , should i take this response as a rejection for my redecorating effort ? i thought the venus de milo needed a shirt. '
