Go Yuri Go!!!, Yuri!!! on ICE official fanbook, Jun'ichi Suwabe interview
Part 4.
-- Please tell us about a scene, in which you had trouble playing Victor.
S: The honest answer would be "all the scenes", but if I have to pick up some, then I will say it was the beginning of the show, episodes 1~3, I think? It was really tough for me, trying to understand the nature of Victor Nikiforov. It seemed to me that I didn't have enough information to create the character as one realistic, living human being - well, one reason was that it is an original anime. I don't usually have to worry a lot about how I should express emotions of characters I play, but as I've mentioned before, in case of Victor, I often was asked to play him in a completely different, almost opposite, way to what my image of the character was. It was me, who played the role, but I don't really feel that I did. Probably because often I was expressing [in my performance] different emotions than those of Victor that lives inside me.
-- What the directing was like during voice-over recording?
S: If I played the character going based on the context of the lines I was saying and additional information written in the screenplay, Victor would become a cool (かっこいい) character. But I think that the directors wanted Victor to be, first and foremost, not so much a "cool character", but "a genius that don't fit the standard". I think it was like a trial and error method for us to get that right. I was often asked to do multiple takes like: "It wasn't bad, but lets try something different".
-- Victor's "Vkusno!" was so cute. Was that you who came with the idea to say in that way?
S: I said it that way during a test recording and I wasn't told anything about it, so I said it in the same way during the actual recording.
[Notes: I must have stop reading this interview on the Makkachin vs. Yuuri answer before, because it really surprised me that he has said that Victor wasn't supposed to be a "cool character"...
A large part of YoI fandom in Jp were fujos absolutely obsessed with gender norms, and who is seme, who is uke blah blah... (I've ranted about this before).
Seme should be cool (かっこいい) and uke should be cute(かわいい)period... And based on that, cute Victor arts were according to them "against the canon".
It's really interesting, because before this guidebook was published uke-Yuuri fujos had a massive meltdown over the art that was drawn for it, with Yurio in the spotlight in the center and no rings.... It was then slightly redrawn (but Victor still has gloves, so "no ring"). (EDIT: sorry, it wasn't this one... I forgot which one I'm translating from 💀 The "problematic" illustration was for the Yuri!!! on Life guidebook. But the point still stands, because the timeline was like this: middle of May 2017 - fujo meltdown, middle of June - Yuri!!! on Life guidebook is published, beginning of July - this fanbook is published... So they were working on this one, as fujos went rabid over the Yurio illustration, then over Yurio exhibition and other stuff concerning the last DVD, which was released at the end of May...)
There was so much anti-fujos dog-whistling in YoI, and reading this interview I wonder if maybe this "Victor not cool, but cute" and the weird, slightly anti-Yuuri answers (the Makkachin vs. Yuuri etc.) were because of that... It would take me a lot of time to summarize for you the whole history of this behavior from Avex&co., but one day I'll do that 💀]

YOI Guidebook Translations - Character Info
Translated by the lovely yumebeats on Twitter!
Please visit her account for more.
Leo De La Iglesia
Skate America was his first gold
He looks up to Victor bc they both choreograph their own programs
But Victor was already trashed when Leo met him so he was a lil frazzled lmao
He's practiced w/ Phichit and Guang-Hong in the States
Leo, Phichit & Guang-Hong stay in regular contact thru social media
HE REALLY WANTED 2 TAKE PICS W/ VICTOR & CHRIS AT THE CHINA BANQUET
Leo, Phi. & GH still get shy in front of older skaters
He apparently missed a lot of jumps in his FS, sending him down to 6th place
Leo has no quads
Miyamoto-sensei choreographed Leo's SP to resemble a "street dance battle"
Guang Hong Ji
GH looks up 2 Phichit and thinks Leo is cool; this admiration is described as like "a young maiden's"
Phichit, GH & Minami are called the "3 Great Adorable Asian Skaters" by fans!!!
He doesn't like hotpot but went bc Victor was there
Georgi Popovich
He's always been in Victor's shadow, sharing a coach & being only 1 day younger. This season is his chance
He seemed cool when he was like "ah, youth" upon seeing Leo & GH, but he's actually a hot (rather, "sweltering") person
Anya's new boyfriend is a hockey player
Yakov wants Georgi to discover his own style
He thinks "NOW'S MY TIME TO SHINE" but Victor's preoccupied with Yuuri and Yurio Does Not Car
In love in sport, he's fruitless :(((
Though it seems like he has a new girlfriend now, at least!
Seunggil Lee
This is his first time in the Grand Prix Series
He's popular with female fans but is cold to them
HIS MOM DRESSES HIM. HOLD THE FCUKIN PHONE, SEUNG GIL'S MOM BUYS HIS CLOTHES AND HE WEARS THEM WITHOUT COMPLAINT
He likes dogs and meat and hates vegetables and women
He doesn't have any ill-will toward other skaters per se, he just doesn't care
The struggles he faces are all for the eventual honor of participating in the Pyongchang Olympics
Emil Nekola
An "agreeable youth" that's an apt description if I've ever seen one
Has known the Crispies 4 a long time
Emil and Michele are "like brothers" and their banter is the norm
ldsfjlsfj MICHELE CAUGHT HIM CHECKING OUT SARA'S BUTT
He's not discouraged by the Crispies ignoring him lol
He wants to add more dynamic jumps next season
Christophe Giacometti
He's basically always expected to podium at the GPF and Worlds
He and Victor are popular w/ da ladies
He sees Victor as his ultimate rival so he has less motivation this season
Minako isn't the only fan wrecked by his sexiness
Thinks he's the only one in the world who can defeat Yuuri's eroticism (!!)
He's been at the Trophée de France 5 times
He thinks it's like a dream that Yuuri, who's rumored to retire, got a world record score
He's never gotten gold at the GPF
Oh ouch he figured he never got gold because Victor was there, but now he's seeing that his chances are being crushed by Yuuri :(
And when he realizes that he feels bitter at being surpassed and irritated by Victor's support :(((
"Though this year's GPF is over, the fire of regret is still smoldering in Chris's heart"
He wants to take gold once Victor returns
Phichit Chulanont
He got bronze at 4cc last season, the first Thai skater to do so!
He's Yuuri's closest skater friend
Skate fans all over the world check Phichit's social media for updates on skaters' practice and daily lives
He believes that he'll rewrite the history of Thai skating
He hasn't told Yuuri about "Phichit on Ice" yet
Jean-Jacques Leroy (there’s a lot about him)
He's gone to Skate Canada 2x
Nathalie's his coach, Alain's his trainer
He genuinely doesn't realize he's bothering ppl and is bad at picking up on social cues
His loved ones have always been important to him
His FS is basically an offering of love to everyone who has supported him
He proposed to Isabella immediately before Barcelona
He & Isabella have been together since highschool! They were classmates
@ the GPF he felt all the other skaters were looking down on him
JJ's refusal to give up even in the face of his own negative thoughts is his true strength
His "It's... JJ Style!" at the kiss and cry was a bluff or show of courage and took all of his strength to accomplish
"JJ, who is always trying to be a king, responds to the voices of his fans who love him by always being JJ.  The JJ we'll see from now on will surely be even stronger"
Even though he's a very powerful skater, his parents' ice dancing background imparts grace to his performance
This season was his last season as a teen and though he buckled under the pressure, he showed his strength through his recovery
He trained in Colorado Springs with Leo as a junior and in Detroit under Celestino
He and Otabek taught each other moves as rinkmates
It looks like he taught Otabek the quad salchow
However, once he left a rink his friendships w/ his rinkmates would fizzle out :(
He doesn't really have any skater friends
However, he does have friends at home and it says they're his support
The support & love he receives from others is the source of his strength
He met the band that did Theme of King JJ @ a Grammy afterparty
[about Isabella] “It seems like she can't quite take a hint when she's  antagonizing Yuri's Angels, but she disregards the atmosphere entirely to cheer for JJ when the stadium has fallen silent”
J has "a few" (何人か) younger siblings who are competing in the junior div
Nathalie likes "flashy things" while Alain is more stoic
Omg the fanbook outright says JJ and Isabella haven't had premarital sex w o w
From the fanbook! He's at the top of his class in a university in Toronto
Otabek Altin
Had his senior debut last year and got bronze at Worlds
He doesn’t care about making friends w/ others
He doesn’t hate people but he gives off that impression
Yurio is the one exception
Yurio didn’t realize who he was at first when Otabek rescued him from his fangirls
Otabek was in the novice class at the summer camp
Also, the guidebook lists him as 18, what is the truth
He knew if he couldn’t discover something no one else could do, he’d never win
Even though he didn’t make podium, he left a strong impression on the entire world
He didn’t stand out at all in his junior years but now he finds himself among the top senior skaters
He trained in many countries
Yakov was running the summer camp where he met Yurio
His body is stiff and he can’t remember choreography quickly
His junior years were a period of trial and error
Otabek’s strength is forging new paths for himself whenever he hits a wall
He chose the Samarkand Overture to make a strong impact as a new entry to the ranks of top skaters
His SP costume is meant to emphasise his status as the representative from Kazakhstan
His skating is supposed to be very crisp and solid
The image for his FS is "I will confidently lead my country! Follow me, my countrymen!"

Yuri on Life (YOI Guidebook) Overview
I got my copy of the YOI guidebook “Yuri on Life” today! Unfortunately, I don’t have time to give it a good look right now (it’s 144 pages packed with stuff), so I just skimmed through the majority of it. I’m noting some things that I’m excited about:
Skater’s Parameters
full list of SP&FS program elements for Yuuri, Victor (just FS), Yurio, J.J., Otabek, Chris, and Phichit. Along with the changes Yuuri, Yurio, and J.J. made to their programs in the GPF.
this means we can calculate their BVs now that we have confirmed spins
the coaches have names and small info blurbs!
Guang-Hong’s coach is ユー・シャオイー (Xiaoli Yu)
Seung-gil’s coach is パク・ミンソ(Minsoo Park?)
(help with these names would be appreciated)
Phichit’s second coach is Coach Muramoto (村元) - the lady you see rinkside with Celestino in the GPF.
Leo’s coach...still has no name. But at least we know they train in Colorado Springs!
calendar of the competitions starting from the Sochi GPF to the Barcelona GPF
apparently the Chu-Shikoku-Kyushu competition was the first week(end) of October
a completed points chart for qualifying for the GPF
Quite a number of real life skaters who watched YOI were interviewed
Takeshi Honda (who voiced himself in ep1 as the commentator next to Morooka), Takahiko Kozuka, Evgenia Medvedeva, Stephane Lambiel & Deniss Vasiljevs, and more.
it seems Seung-gil's colorful costume and program resembles one of Honda-san's old programs, "Tico Tico"
lots of staff interviews - Kubo-sensei, Director Sayo Yamamoto, seiyuu...
Sayo has a recommended skating programs list (“divine performance compilation”):
Evgeni Plushenko’s EX “Sex Bomb” (year not specified, although a 2003 GPF picture was used)
Johnny Weir’s 2009 NHK EX “Poker Face” (not available, so I had to link the 2009/10 U.S. Nationals performance)
Stephane Lambiel’s 2007 Worlds FS “Poeta”
Takahiko Kozuka’s 2014 Japan Nationals FS “Io Ci Saro”
Denis Ten’s 2015 Four Continents FS “Ambush from Ten Sides”
Yuzuru Hanyu’s 2012 Worlds FS “Romeo&Juliet”
Patrick Chan’s 2013 Trophee Eric Bompard SP “Elegie in E flat minor”
Tatsuki Machida’s 2014 Worlds SP “East of Eden”
Daisuke Takahashi’s 2012 Japan Nationals FS “Pagliacci”
drawings of the two main skate designs (Yuuri’s model and Yurio’s model)
There's a well-written glossary of figure skating terms -
all the jumps have a lengthy paragraph each, and credit is given to the first skaters to ratify each quad
explaining the short and free programs
explaining jumps in the second half,
exhibition skates,
combination jumps,
step sequences,
level 4,
TES (technical elementss score) & GOE,
PCS (performance components score),
having a hand aloft during a jump,
compulsory figures,
public practice,
6 minute warm-up,
coaches, and coaching changes,
banquets,
cheering
...and a few more
more staff interviews and behind-the-scenes of:
Making of Skating Animation (live-footage as reference, timing, drawing, key frames and supervisor’s corrections)
Skating Animation
Choreography (interview with Kenji Miyamoto)
Motion Skater
Supervision
Music
Costume
Audiography
Art
Character Design
and a 15,000 character interview with Sayo Yamamoto and Kubo Mitsurou
And of course, I’m excited about the two gorgeous double-sided posters! A smiling podium family warms my heart, and I love Ina Bauer Yuuri, spread eagle Victor, and Biellmann spiral Yurio. (those are some of my favorite figure skating moves~)

A Super-Detailed Yuri on Ice Timeline
Do you write pre-canon fic and are sick of calculating out who is what age when? Are you writing a mid-canon fic and are trying to figure out when it should be set or tired of looking up details by checking the episodes? Still confused about what year the show is meant to take place? Do you just want to read everything I could pull together about the history of the YOI characters? This might be the timeline for you!
Because of the level of detail, this timeline is quite long and IMO not the easiest to read on Tumblr. If you prefer to read it elsewhere, it is also posted to AO3 (here) and on DW (here). Otherwise, it’s all under the cut!
Background: what year is it anyway?
The year the show takes place has been a matter of some confusion, as info is a bit contradictory. For example, in the Cup of China arc, one of the background set pieces says it's the Cup of China 2015. (One can also see in the background a banner supporting Mao Asada, who competed there in the real-world 2015, though that's probably just an easter egg from an animator who is a fan of hers.) On the other hand, the order of the GP series events lines up with that of the real-world 2013-2014 season.
However, I decided to put the show as taking place over the beginning of the 2016-2017 season, as most evidence seems to point to that year. These include:
The date shown on Yuuri's phone in episode 1 was changed on the disc version to move April 10 from Monday to Sunday; in 2016, April 10 fell on a Sunday.
His phone in episode 4 also shows May 7 as being a Saturday, and Seung-gil's phone in episode 10 shows December 10 as being a Saturday; again, these days of the week line up with these dates in 2016.
In episode 4, we see a sign that says welcomes skaters to a 'Team Challenge Cup' in Detroit; this was a real event held for the first (and only) time in April 2016, albeit in Spokane, Washington rather than Detroit.
An AnAn magazine article listed Yuri and Yuuri's programs as being for the 2016/2017 season, and Yuuri and Yuri's medal positions at the GPF are listed as being in 2016-2017 as well.
Background: the timeline is not consistent and birthdays are hard
Contradictory age information is given for three characters in the show: Victor, Georgi, and Otabek. Victor's age is given as 27 in his official character bio and several times in the scenes featuring Worlds; he's also said to be 27 at the Sochi GPF. He has a birthday in-between, so these can't both be true. I put him down as turning 27 after the Sochi GPF, as that was what was repeated more times and seems to be his intended age.
Georgi's age is given as both 25 and 27 in episode six; he's listed as being 27 in his bio and in episode 7, and the same age as Victor in Go Yuri Go and Yuri on Life. So I went with 27, as again, it had more mentions. It also goes more with the theme of Georgi being in Victor's shadow.
Otabek's age is the most troublesome, because it's given as both 18 and 19 multiple times, though he has no birthday in-between. His official bio lists him as 18. Episode 9 gives his age as 18. Episode 10 gives his age as 18 directly by Victor, and either 18 or 19 indirectly. (It's given as 'five years ago' at the summer camp, when he was 'in his first year in the junior division' – the minimum age for juniors is 13. But that age minimum is the skater's age when the season starts on July 1, so if he was 13 then, he should have started the 2016 season as an 18-year-old and be 19 after his birthday). Episode 11 lists his age on-screen as 19. Episode 12 does so again, and Celestino says he's 19. (He's also listed as 18 in the Go Yuri Go and Yuri on Life guidebooks.) I went with 18, because otherwise all (consistent) character ages given in the bios are accurate for the first time we meet the characters after the start of the main story in Hasetsu, and because it is listed in both of the guidebooks. If you disagree, mentally add a year to his age in the timeline.
There are also two characters for whom we have little or no age information: Lilia and Minako. Lilia's age is totally unknown. We also aren't given anything about the timeline of when she and Yakov were married, although if Yuri doesn't know who she is at all, to me, that seems to imply that it's probably been at least five years since their divorce.
Minako is at least a little older than Hiroko, who calls her Minako-sempai, but her exact age is also not known. (They could be very close in age depending on where they were born in the school year, or closer to a year apart.) She was a grade above Hiroko at school according to Yuri on Life.
For characters who have an age given but no birthday, I simply subtracted their age from 2016 to find their birth year, which technically could be slightly inaccurate if more info is revealed at some point.
I have done my best to note when dates may be ambiguous (such as the timeline of Victor and Yuri's arrivals in Hasetsu) or where there are continuity snarls. In a few places, I have also given IRL dates of various historically important figure skating happenings and competitions seen in the show for reference, although locations and dates of events in the YOI-verse do not necessarily line up with those in our own. I've also cited where everything came from, so you can easily look it up yourself or decide what you do and don't consider canonical :)
Ages for all of the characters except Morooka are listed every year after the main characters start being born. I did this because I've seen multiple people complain that it's hard to keep the ages straight when writing pre-canon fic and wishing that they had something to make it easier. (I've definitely had to re-do my age math a few times while writing fic myself). This contributes to the timeline being really long. Sorry! To make it easier to find pre-canon events that aren't birthdays, they are listed in bold until the year 2016. --- 1946 Yakov is born
1962 Toshiya is born
1967 Hiroko is born
1971 Celestino is born
1986 Mari is born

(ep1 in-universe magazine) (Note: the article says Victor is 15 and adopted Makkachin '3 years ago', which would put this event a year earlier, but this age contradicts another line said aloud. I suppose it's also possible that Yuuko could have found an older magazine and Victor could have also 'smashed records' at Junior Worlds at 15, then skated again and broken more records at Junior Worlds next year.) July 1 – This season or next, ten-year-old Yuuri has a 'Matrix' program. (Kubo art exhibition) July 8 – Emil turns 4 July 15 – JJ turns 5 August 2 – Leo turns 5 August 18 – Minami turns 3 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 8 October 31 – Otabek turns 4 November 29 – Yuuri turns 10 December 25 – Victor turns 14 December 26 – Georgi turns 14 --- 2003 Yakov turns 57 Celestino turns 32 Mila turns 5 Hiroko turns 36 Toshiya turns 41 Mari turns 17 Takeshi turns 11 Yuuko turns 12 January 7 – Guang-hong turns 4 February 14 – Chris turns 12 March 1 – Yuri turns 2 April 30 – Phichit turns 7 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 7 July 8 – Emil turns 5 July 15 – JJ turns 6 August 2 – Leo turns 6 August 18 – Minami turns 4 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 9 October 31 – Otabek turns 5 November 29 – Yuuri turns 11 December 25 – Victor turns 15 December 26 – Georgi turns 15 --- 2004 Yakov turns 58 Celestino turns 33 Mila turns 6 Hiroko turns 37 Toshiya turns 42 Mari turns 18 Takeshi turns 12 Yuuko turns 13 January 7 – Guang-hong turns 5 February 14 – Chris turns 13 March 1 – Yuri turns 3 April 30 – Phichit turns 8 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 8 July 1 – IRL, as of this season, the ISU begins replacing the 6.0 scoring system with the IJS scoring system, after the 2003 GP senior series tried it out. Major competitions change over immediately, but some smaller competitions continued to use 6.0 this season. The change was made mandatory for all competitions in 2006. July 8 – Emil turns 6 July 15 – JJ turns 7 August 2 – Leo turns 7 August 18 – Minami turns 5 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 10 October 31 – Otabek turns 6 November 29 – Yuuri turns 12 December 25 – Victor turns 16 December 26 – Georgi turns 16 --- 2005 Yakov turns 59 Celestino turns 34 Mila turns 7 Hiroko turns 38 Toshiya turns 43 Mari turns 19 Takeshi turns 13 Yuuko turns 14 January 7 – Guang-hong turns 6 February 14 – Chris turns 14 March 1 – Yuri turns 4 March – When Yuuri is 12 (ep2), Junior Worlds is held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Victor wins gold and sets a world record for Junior men with his score. (ep1) (Note: In some sources, like Yuri on Life and the magazine article shown briefly in ep1, this is stated as happening when Victor was 15, putting this event in 2004 instead, though that contradicts Yuuri thinking about this performance while talking about how Victor was at the top of the world when Yuuri was 12.) April 30 – Phichit turns 9 Unknown – Victor gives an off-season interview with a Japanese magazine, which Yuuri and Yuuko read. (ep1) Unknown – Sometime after reading the interview with Victor, Yuuri adopts Vicchan. Judging by Yuuko's summer uniform, this adoption happens between the beginning of June and the beginning of October, but it's not stated for sure if that happens this year or a year or two later. (ep1) June 6 – Seung-gil turns 9 July 8 – Emil turns 7 July 15 – JJ turns 8 August 2 – Leo turns 8 August 18 – Minami turns 6 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 11 October 31 – Otabek turns 7 November 29 – Yuuri turns 13 December 25 – Victor turns 17 December 26 – Georgi turns 17 --- 2006 Yakov turns 60 Celestino turns 35 Mila turns 8 Hiroko turns 39 Toshiya turns 44 Mari turns 20 Takeshi turns 14 Yuuko turns 15 January 7 – Guang-hong turns 7 February – Victor wins the Olympics (not directly stated, but he appears to have one of the distinctive Torino medals in gold). (ep10) February 14 – Chris turns 15 March 1 – Yuri turns 5 April 30 – Phichit turns 10 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 10 July 1 – Yuuri is old enough for his first season as an international junior. At some point, he competes with Chris in at least one junior competition, although he has never won over Chris up through the beginning of the show. (official bio) (Although Chris is already doing senior competitions this season, he is still eligible to do junior competitions for a few years at this point, and it is not uncommon to do both. He may have competed as a junior at a smaller competition, done the junior GP series instead of the senior one, or been sent to Junior Worlds instead of or in addition to senior Worlds.) Victor has been training with Yakov since at least this season, though we don't know for sure when Yakov started coaching him; he may have become Victor's coach much earlier. (Yuri on Museum art) (See the continuity note in January below.) Chris has been coached by Josef since around this point. (Yuri on Life) July 8 – Emil turns 8 July 15 – JJ turns 9 August 2 – Leo turns 9 August 18 – Minami turns 7 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 12 October 31 – Otabek turns 8 November 29 – Yuuri turns 14 December 25 – Victor turns 18 December 26 – Georgi turns 18 --- 2007 Yakov turns 61 Celestino turns 36 Mila turns 9 Hiroko turns 40 Toshiya turns 45 Mari turns 21 Takeshi turns 15 Yuuko turns 16 January – Victor, who still has long hair, wins gold at Euros, held at the Palais des Sports de Lyon in Lyon, France. Chris and Victor meet for the first time. Chris, in his first season as a senior and already training with his current coach, calls out to him; Victor throws him a tulip that turns into a rose and suggests they meet again at Worlds. (ep7) (IRL, this event was held January 17-22.) (Note: Yuri on Life says this happens 'ten years ago', but also that it happens when Victor was 17, which would put this in 2006 instead. However, in that case, Chris would have been 14 and too young to compete at either Euros or Worlds, though he could do the senior GP series as the age rules were different at this point.) January 7 – Guang-hong turns 8 February 14 – Chris turns 16 March 1 – Yuri turns 6 April 30 – Phichit turns 11 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 11 July 8 – Emil turns 9 July 15 – JJ turns 10 August 2 – Leo turns 10 August 18 – Minami turns 8 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 13 October 31 – Otabek turns 9 November 29 – Yuuri turns 15 December 25 – Victor turns 19 December 26 – Georgi turns 19 --- 2008 Yakov turns 62 Celestino turns 37 Mila turns 10 Hiroko turns 41 Toshiya turns 46 Mari turns 22 Takeshi turns 16 Yuuko turns 17 January 7 – Guang-hong turns 9 February 14 – Chris turns 17 March 1 – Yuri turns 7 April 30 – Phichit turns 12 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 12 July 8 – Emil turns 10 July 15 – JJ turns 11 August 2 – Leo turns 11 August 18 – Minami turns 9 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 14 October 31 – Otabek turns 10 November 29 – Yuuri turns 16 December 25 – Victor turns 20 December 26 – Georgi turns 20 --- 2009 Yakov turns 63 Celestino turns 38 Mila turns 11 Hiroko turns 42 Toshiya turns 47 Mari turns 23 Takeshi turns 17 Yuuko turns 18 January 7 – Guang-hong turns 10 February 14 – Chris turns 18 March 1 – Yuri turns 8 April 30 – Phichit turns 13 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 13 July 8 – Emil turns 11 July 15 – JJ turns 12 August 2 – Leo turns 12 August 18 – Minami turns 10 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 15 October 31 – Otabek turns 11 November 29 – Yuuri turns 17 December 25 – Victor turns 21 December 26 – Georgi turns 21 --- 2010 Yakov turns 64 Celestino turns 39 Mila turns 12 Hiroko turns 43 Toshiya turns 48 Mari turns 24 Takeshi turns 18 Yuuko turns 19 The triplets are born January 7 – Guang-hong turns 11 February 14 – Chris turns 19 March 1 – Yuri turns 9 April 30 – Phichit turns 14 June 6 – Seung-gil turns 14 July 8 – Emil turns 12 July 15 – JJ turns 13 August 2 – Leo turns 13 August 18 – Minami turns 11 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 16 October 31 – Otabek turns 12 November 29 – Yuuri turns 18 December – Someone other than Victor wins the GPF and he also does not win Nationals. (ep1) December 25 – Victor turns 22 December 26 – Georgi turns 22 --- Unknown – At some point prior to the current season, JJ apparently tries training with Leo and his coach, and with Celestino. Years unknown. (ep12) Apparently this is while he was still competing as a junior. He also helped Otabek learn a quad salchow around this time when they were rinkmates. (Yuri on Life) Unknown – Yuuko and Takeshi get married, and she changes her family name away from Toyomura. (Setting Material Collection) (IRL, the rate of children born outside of marriage in Japan is quite low, so they are likely to have gotten married before the triplets are born, but nothing is stated for sure.) --- 2011 Unknown – Yuuri's last visit to Hasetsu. (ep1) Yakov turns 65 Celestino turns 40 Mila turns 13 Hiroko turns 44 Toshiya turns 49 Mari turns 25 Takeshi turns 19 Yuuko turns 20 The triplets turn 1 January – Someone other than Victor wins Euros. (ep1) January 7 – Guang-hong turns 12 February 14 – Chris turns 20 March – Someone other than Victor wins Worlds. (ep1) March 1 – Yuri turns 10 April – Yuuri begins whatever his degree program is at Kii Gakuin Daigaku (presumably located in historical Kii/the Kii peninsula, mostly covering present-day Wakayama prefecture). (ep1) April 30 – Phichit turns 15 Summer – Yuri transfers to Yakov and attends his summer camp. Otabek is there as well; he can't keep up with the other juniors and instead is put with the novices. He struggles with ballet but notices Yuri's determination. (ep10, Yuri on Life) (Adding to the continuity snarl around Otabek's age: while both the show, Go Yuri Go, and Yuri on Life (both books give his age as 18) say he's a first-year junior here, technically he's too young, at least at the international level – he would have to turn 13 before July 1 to be old enough, and he's still 12 until October of this year. So, either he is actually 19 during the show, or the writers simply forgot/didn't care about this point of the rules and just subtracted 5 from his age during the show.) June 6 – Seung-gil turns 15 July 1 – Yuuri starts his final season skating in junior competitions. (official bio) July 8 – Emil turns 13 July 15 – JJ turns 14 August 2 – Leo turns 14 August 18 – Minami turns 12 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 17 October 31 – Otabek turns 13 November 29 – Yuuri turns 19 December – Victor wins both the GPF and Nationals. (ep1) December 25 – Victor turns 23 December 26 – Georgi turns 23 --- Unknown – At some point, Yuuri moves to Detroit, USA and studies abroad while training with Celestino as his coach. Unknown if Phichit is already there or if he arrives later. (ep1) Unknown – At some point after Yuuri starts training with Celestino, the first version of Yuri on Ice is composed, but he doesn't end up using it. (ep4) Unknown – At some point while he is training with Detroit, a rink mate is injured in an accident. While waiting at the hospital, a girl Yuuri knows tries to comfort him with a hug and he shoves her away. (ep4) Unknown – At some point in his years in the novice age range (<13), Yuri begins receiving state aid for his skating, which he uses to help support his family. (official bio) Unknown – After the training camp with Yakov's group, Otabek trains in Russia, then the US and Canada, before he returns to Almaty in 2015. (ep10) Unknown – At some point before GP Russia 2016, Seung-gil lands the first ratified quad loop in competition. (ep8) Unknown – At some point while he is a junior, Emil meets the Crispinos. July 8 – Emil turns 16 July 15 – JJ turns 17 August 2 – Leo turns 17 August 18 – Minami turns 15 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 20 October 31 – Otabek turns 16 November 29 – Yuuri turns 22 December – Yuri wins his first Junior GPF title. (ep3, Blu-ray booklet 2) Victor wins the GPF and Russian Nationals for the fourth year in a row. (ep1) December 25 – Victor turns 26 December 26 – Georgi turns 26 Unknown – Yuri jumps a quad salchow instead of his planned triple sal at a junior competition. Yakov yells at him for putting his developing body in danger. Victor, who now has short hair, makes him a promise that if he wins Junior Worlds (note: some sources list this as the Junior GPF, but Victor says Worlds in the show) without any quads, he'll choreograph a program for him for his senior debut. (ep2) (The year is not stated in the episode, but as Victor's promise implies that Yuri hasn't won Junior Worlds yet, and he was a two-time winner, he is probably twelve or thirteen. Supplemental material (Go Yuri Go, Blu-ray booklet 2) refers to him being a junior, in which case he'd have to be thirteen, or outright says two years ago when he was a junior (Yuri on Life). While the wiki has this listed as occurring when Yuri is twelve, I can't find any source that says that; I suspect a fan writing the article decided he looked twelve in the flashback.) --- 2015 Yakov turns 69 Celestino turns 44 Mila turns 17 Hiroko turns 48 Toshiya turns 53 Mari turns 29 Takeshi turns 23 Yuuko turns 24 The triplets turn 5 January – Victor wins his fourth Euros title in a row. (Go Yuri Go) August 2 – Leo turns 18 August 18 – Minami turns 16 September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 21 October? – JJ wins Skate Canada. (ep9) (IRL, SCI 2015 was October 30-November 1.) October 31 – Otabek turns 17 November 29 – Yuuri turns 23 December – Vicchan passes away during the GPF. (Go Yuri Go) Yuuri struggles with his dog's death and with overeating due to the perceived pressure to do well. December 10-13 – The Grand Prix Final is held in Sochi. The Katsukis organize a public viewing. Victor ends in first place for the fifth year in a row, with Chris second, JJ third, Cao Bin fourth, Michele fifth, and Yuuri sixth. (ep1) Yuri wins the Junior Grand Prix Final, for the second year in a row. (ep3, Blu-ray booklet 2) While the medalists are at the medal ceremony, Yuuri sees an article about his mental weakness and potential retirement just after midnight on the 13th, local time. (ep1) Yuri and Yuuri meet for the first time. Afterward, Victor offers to take a photo with Yuuri while they're still at the arena. (ep1) Either the next day or the day after that, the banquet occurs. Yuuri gets very drunk and ends up in a dance battle with Yuri, pole-dancing with Chris, and dancing with Victor, while Mila and Sara take pictures in the background. He asks Victor to be his coach. He doesn't remember any of this due to the amount of alcohol he drank. (ep10) Yuuri later does poorly at All-Japan (Nationals) and after taking eleventh place (ep4) ends his season there. (ep1) Celestino does not accompany him to Nationals. (ep4) Minami places above Yuuri at Nationals (ep4) and in fact took third place (Yuri on Life, Blu-ray booklet 3), but he does not go to any senior competitions (official bio, Blu-ray booklet 3). Victor wins Russian Nationals for the fifth year in a row. (ep1) December 25 – Victor turns 27 December 26 – Georgi turns 27 Unknown – At some point during 2015, probably during the off-season, Otabek returns to Almaty to train. (ep10) Unknown – At some point during 2015 or so, in an exhibition (but not in competition), Victor lands a quad loop. (ep8) --- 2016 Yakov turns 70 Celestino turns 45 Mila turns 18 Hiroko turns 49 Toshiya turns 54 Mari turns 30 Takeshi turns 24 Yuuko turns 25 The triplets turn 6

January – Victor wins Euros for the fifth year in a row. (ep1) January 7 – Guang-hong turns 17

Worlds is held in Yoyogi, Tokyo, Japan. Victor is first after the short program and wins for the fifth time in a row. Chris is second after the short and in total, and Otabek is the bronze medalist. Emil sets a personal best in the free skate and was first after the second group finished skating. (ep1) (IRL, this event was held March 30-April 3.)
April – Team Challenge Cup occurs in Detroit. (ep4) (No date stated in the show; IRL this was April 22-24.)
April 10 – the video is posted. (ep1)
11? 12? (Yuuri's line about turning off his phone implies that Victor's arrival may be the next day, but the date is not clearly stated) – Victor is seen off at the airport by Yakov (ep2). He arrives in Hasetsu (ep1), while news in Russia starts saying that he's taking the season off to coach Yuuri and choreograph his programs after seeing the video. (ep2) While Victor is sleeping after his first dip in the onsen, Yakov gives an interview to the press about him. (ep2) AlexSeanchai pointed out that due to time zones, sunset times, and airline times, we can infer that Victor did not arrive on the 10th; arriving on the 11th would be possible but requires a very tight turnaround.
Unknown – Victor takes and posts a photo of himself in front of Hasetsu Castle. The press descends on Hasetsu. (ep2)
One week afterward – Yuri arrives in Hasetsu and posts a photo of himself there. Yakov immediately calls (in the middle of an ice session, even) to yell at him. After Yuri shows up at the Ice Castle and demands Victor make good on his promise, Victor announces he'll choreograph for both of them and have them compete at an ice show in a week. Yuuri does figures at the Ice Castle that night to calm his nerves. (ep2)
The next day – Victor picks Eros for Yuuri and Agape for Yuri and begins teaching them the choreography. He tells them that he won't choreograph their (other?) programs if they aren't at a satisfactory level at the end of the week. (ep2)
Yuri and Yuuri spend the next week training with Victor and starting to learn what Agape and Eros mean to them. (ep3) At some point, Yuri takes a photo with the Katsukis + Victor + Minako. (ep10) At some point, Victor, Yuuri, and Yuri light fireworks together. (ending sequence)
The day before Onsen on Ice – Yuri and Yuuri pick their costumes, and Yuuri rings Minako's doorbell late at night to ask for an extra lesson.
One week after Yuri's arrival – Onsen on Ice occurs. Yuuri is declared the winner and Yuri decides to return to Russia. (ep3) The Nishigooris see him off at the airport and take a photo with him. (ep4)
(AlexSeanchai points out that if we can take the moon phase seen when Yuuri runs off after embarrassing himself by declaring katsudon his eros as indicative of the date, Yuuri was running on around the 2nd/3rd of May, and Onsen on Ice probably occurred around May 6th. This would put Yuri's arrival on April 29th and Victor's post on the 22nd.)
April 30 – Phichit turns 20
Unknown – Mila starts dating a hockey player. At some point before Yuri returns to Russia, they break up. (ep4)
May 7 – Yuuri oversleeps a lesson with Victor; Yuri has left by this date, but the show doesn't make it completely clear if he's just left or if it's been a few days. (ep4)
Unknown dates – Lilia comes to St. Petersburg and agrees to teach Yuri. Yuuri calls Phichit, who has returned to Bangkok and brought Celestino with him. Phichit helps put him back in touch with the person who first composed Yuri on Ice. Yuuri and Victor have their talk on the beach. (ep4)
June 6 – Seung-gil turns 20 June 13 – Yuuri hears back about redoing his FS music, and the musician gets it back to him that night Japan time. (ep4)

Summer – JJ does charity work. (official bio, Go Yuri Go)
Unknown – at some point, Anya breaks up with Georgi for a new boyfriend. (ep6)

August 2 – Leo turns 19 August 18 – Minami turns 17
September 13 – Michele and Sara turn 22 September – the Chuugoku, Shikoku, and Kyuushuu Championships occur. (ep4) (IRL, this was September 22 through 25 in 2016.) October (early date, unknown) – Yuuri takes part in a press conference about his theme/goals for the GP series and announces his theme as 'love'. (ep5) (IRL, this was on October 2 in 2016.)
October 21-23 – Skate America, the first GP event in the show, occurs. Leo is in first place, followed by Otabek in second, Guang-hong in third, and Phichit in fourth. (ep6) (Note: These GP dates are not really stated in the show, only the order and the fact that GP Russia ends slightly before Yuuri's birthday on November 29 (ep9). However, IRL, the GP Final is held on the second weekend of December, with a two-week break between that and the last GP event, so I have gone with that timing. The dates also only include the competition days + the day of the exhibition.)
October 28-30 – Skate Canada occurs. JJ is first, Yuri second, and Emil third. (ep6)
October 31 – Otabek turns 18
November 4-6 – Cup of China occurs. After the SP, Yuuri is in first place, followed by Georgi, Leo, Phichit, Chris, and Guang-hong. (ep6) After the FS, Phichit wins first place, followed by Yuuri, Chris, and Georgi. Leo is eighth place or lower. (ep7) (Note: both Go Yuri Go and Yuri on Life say that Leo took sixth place here.) Guang-hong's final placement is not shown in the show, but supplementary material says he finished in fifth. (Yuri on Life) This is the first GP victory by a south-east Asian skater. (ep11) Phichit takes selfies on the podium and with all of the named male characters and their coaches. (ep10)
November 11-13 – NHK Trophy occurs. Otabek wins, his first GP competition victory. (ep11) He is followed by Seung-gil and Michele. (ep8)
November 18-20 –Trophée de France occurs. Chris wins, followed by Sir Notappearinginthisshow McGenericface and Georgi. (ep8)

26th: Yuuri doesn't speak with Yakov at practice before the free skate. Nikolai brings Yuri his newly invented katsudon pirozhki. The skating order for group two in the free skate is Emil, Michele, Seung-gil, Yuri, Yuuri, and JJ. Mila and Sara watch from the stands, along with Georgi. Emil lands his first quad loop in competition. JJ wins, followed by Yuri, Michele, Yuuri, Emil, and Seung-gil in sixth. Yuri shares his katsudon pirozhki with Yuuri. (ep9) (Note: Sara says that Mickey doesn't have to come support her in her free skate 'tomorrow'; however, Rostelecom is always two days, with all the disciplines having their short/free programs on the same days.)
Unknown – Yuri makes katsudon pirozhki for Lilia and Yakov at some time between GP Russia and the GPF. (ep10)
November 29 – Yuuri turns 24
December – (Probably November 30-December 3) – Shortly before the GPF, Yuri goes to Golden Spin for more competition experience. He wins, with Someguy McNameless in second and Guang-hong taking bronze. (ep11) (IRL, in 2016, Golden Spin almost completely overlapped with the GPF, but in some years, it has been held about a week prior.)
Unknown – JJ proposes marriage to his girlfriend. Yuri on Life states that this was shortly before the GPF, and this is also implied by Yuuri seeing pictures of them showing off the rings on social media after arriving in Barcelona. (ep10)
December 8-11 – The GP Final is held in Barcelona. This is the first time qualifying to the GPF for Phichit and Otabek. (ep11, ep12) Mila and Sara have also both qualified, and Michele and Emil show up for Sara. (ep10)
Unknown, possibly December 6 – Yuri arrives in Barcelona. Otabek goes out for dinner alone. Phichit parts from Celestino to take pictures around the city. Chris and Victor talk and take pictures at the hotel pool, then go bother Yuuri. (ep10)
December 7 or 8 – After attending an official practice, Victor and Yuuri go sight-seeing, visit a Christmas market, and exchange rings in a church. Meanwhile, Otabek and Yuri makes friends. They meet up and have dinner with Mari, Minako, and the other competitors except for JJ. Yuuri learns about the previous year's banquet. (ep10)
December 8 or 9 – Victor goes to the beach early in the morning. Yuri also shows up. (ep10)
December 9 – The men's SP occurs late at night. Georgi goes out with an unknown woman. (ep10) After the short program, the placements are Yuri in first with a new world record for the SP score, followed by Otabek, Chris, Yuuri, Phichit, and JJ. Minako and Mari go to a bar with Celestino afterward. Yuuri does his 'let's end this' to Victor. (ep11)
December 10 – Men's FS occurs. (Continuity error: Morooka says that Yuuri hasn't practiced publicly since 'the day after the short program' and only returned to the public practice that morning. However, if the date on Seung-gil's phone in ep10 is correct, there has not been a day between the SP and the FS. So, either the SP and 'let's end this' actually took place on the 8th, or Morooka's comment is wrong. Go Yuri Go also states that the 'let's end this' conversation took place the night before the free skate, and there's no obvious given reason for Yuuri to skip a public practice without the fight having taken place.) JJ lands his first quad loop in competition. The final results are Yuri in first place, followed by Yuuri with a new world record FS score, JJ, Otabek, Chris, and Phichit. Victor tells Yakov that he has decided to come back in time for Nationals. (ep12)
That night, Yuri goes looking for Otabek. Mickey, Sara, Emil, and Mila find him and give him Leo's phone number. Chris is sleeping, apparently alone. Guang-hong helps him out. After finding Otabek, he changes his program last-minute. (WTTM manga)
December 11 – The GPF gala happens. Yuuri and Victor do their pair skate. (ep12) Phichit is not in the gala, while JJ goes just before Victor and Yuuri. Yuri does WTTM. (WTTM manga)
December 25 – Victor turns 28 December 26 – Georgi turns 28

Yuri!!! on Life, official guidebook, Programs
Exhibition, "Duetto <Stammi vicino, non te ne andare>"
Ensemble FOVE conducted by Matsushiba Taku (Kudo Kazuma/Tenor, Matsubara Rinko/Sopran)
Exhibition for the Grand Prix Final - a program that brought Yuuri and Victor together and the FS that Victor skated at the World Championships performed in a different color version of that costume. Victor in a costume enters in the middle of the program and the song becomes a duetto of male and female voice. The audience boils with excitement seeing the dance lifts and mirror steps.
[Notes: A very short one for today, but sometimes even short, random comments like this one makes you think a lot in case of a show like YoI, where the authors used a lot of tricks etc. that are never explained properly, but just exist in the story.
First of all, the editor calls Stammi vicino "Victor's FS from the World Championship" - not the last season, the World Championships. It could be a matter of wording, but to my best knowledge, it was never confirmed in the show itself or in any of the canon materials that Victor's FS before and during Sochi was Stammi vicino - everyone assumes that because that's the same season, and he wears the same costume. But in the beginning of the first episode (Sochi), we never hear even a second of Victor's FS music...... 😂
And second - again, it depends on the interpretation of the choice of wording, but it seems that the editor wants to suggest that the moment when Victor enters the ice, and the moment the female voice joins in are synchronized on purpose, that is: female voice = Victor. There is one quite famous theory in Jp fandom (maybe it's known in Eng fandom, too? I have no idea), about how music in YoI in general kind of tells the hidden part of the story - it's too long and detailed to do it justice in just a few words here - but that the female voice in the soundtrack is actually Victor's voice is one part of the theory. So reading this comment about Yuuri's EX, the first thought that came to my mind was that the person who first analyzed the music and wrote that theory did a very good job...]

So I'm reading parts of the guide book and there's a part that rates how surprising victors actions out of 100 and him turning up naked in the onsen gets 100/100 but the kiss only gets 90???? I guess after the shock of him running to Japan the kiss wasn't so surprising haha

Nabari Appreciation Day 03 - Favorite Scene/Arc
Tumblr media
@nabaridays
I might be alone in this answer, but: The Grieving Period or roughly chapters 51 - 59.
If you asked me describe my favorite kind of story --and I wasn’t allowed to say “the queer kind” -- my answer would be recovery stories. Few things touch me like a tale of someone moving forward after a traumatic event or learning how to live with an illness or injury. I could go on for pages about why, but it basically boils down to: they give me hope.
One of the most frequently seen traumas in fiction is the loss of a loved one. But rarely do stories leave space for the audience to actually see the surviving characters process their grief and figure out how to move forward (unless that is literally what the story is about.)
Part of what makes Nabari no Ou so special to me is that it gives its characters that space. We see the immediate aftermath when Miharu wakes up and realizes that something is wrong. We see how the loss of Yoite -- even as an unknown, erased person -- affects the people who’d been allied to him. And we see how Miharu, Yukimi, and the rest of cast find a path to keep living somehow.
Some highlights for me from this arc: -Miharu’s whole-hearted sobbing after trying to stay detached for so long -the Shimizu family revival -Tobari asking Yukimi to watch over Miharu since they’re both grieving the most -Miharu helping Yukimi with his journalist work -when Yukimi and Miharu return to Yukimi’s apartment for the first time -Miharu and Tsukasa meeting and feeling a connection -Yoi(te) the cat’s entire existence
If you’re like me and you enjoy this portion of the story, I recommend checking out Hikaru no Go. That recommendation might seem really random, but it also features a really good story arc grieving the loss of a main character. (and for those who don’t know, the art is a page from an omake Kamatani drew for the Official Guidebook Al Fine. It’s a short chapter called Scissors and Lemon and features Yukimi reminiscing about Yoite after he automatically makes two cups of his hot lemonade instead of just one.)

I love how the YoI characters age in real time. Basically, Yuri is about to turn 18 in a month but inb4 antis being like: the show ended when he was 15. he's still a minor yet they'll say Otabek is 20. Looking forward to that coming back with the movie.
Wow this ask got really buried in my inbox, sorry for missing it!
Just wanna say, while the characters aged in real time in the guidebook like a year after the show aired, don’t count on that being canon in the movie. :\ We don’t know if the movie is a prequel or sequel or what. And even if it’s a sequel, it doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily gonna take place 3 years after s1 ended

Yuri!!! on Life official guidebook, Toshiharu Mizutani (Art Director) interview
Part 3.
-- For sure, there is a lot of small things in the designs.
M: When I look at just the line arts, I always think that they are drawn in a very loose way, and a lot of those small things are skillfully drawn in a simplified way/omitted. It's something that only somebody with a lot of practice can do. Even newcomers can draw precisely, if they look at a drawing and try to copy it, but the most important thing is not to draw something that is not necessary. If you have to later erase something that you drew, then you give yourself twice the amount of work, but only people with a lot of skill can simply not draw too much to begin with.
-- Then it must have been a good opportunity to learn for the younger staff members, I'd guess?
M: They were all very desperate [to get the job done] and working while on the brink of death.
-- The ice in the skating scenes is very realistic, too. Was it a request from the Director?
M: Yeah. Since the first PV. Even I have watched some figure skating on DVD, so it was something that was on my mind, too. In case of ice shows, the lights are very elaborate, and your eyes are really drawn to the ice, cut with blades of skaters' shoes. Because of how it sparkles. I was wondering if it would be possible to try to achieve this effect, but I thought that if I touched this subject, we all were going to suffer, so I kept quiet. But then I decided that I want to have those cuts in the ice, after all. All were drawn on the same layer, but then split into multiple layers. We put at least three such layers on the surface of the ice.
[Notes: Long time no rant, so...
((Just in case, newer readers may not be aware, that I'm a "fujo-hater" 😂 But fret not, I'm not against seeing relationship between Yuuri and Victor as romantic or against people reading BL, but I'm very much against fujos, who as it was in the case of YoI, try to "teach"/press the creators/other staff members to make the canon bend to their doujinshi tropes.))
The talk about staff members on the brink of death reminded me about that huge controversy about MAPPA that happened last year 💀 It's not a secret that Sayo was overworking animators during YoI and there are still screenshots of animators calling her names on twitter and say condolences to each other, bc of being involved with YoI. So, YoI fandom now hating MAPPA, bc "bad MAPPA, bad working conditions, poor animators...", while demanding that they should stop producing shonens, bc they should make YoI instead is well... an example of how spending time in an echo chamber and just following the crowd can make you a huge hypocrite.
It should also be said that it's not that those shonens are "just for boys" or anything like that if we talk about this topic, btw. GoYuu from JJK (Gojo x Yuuji) is so popular with fujos that it has now more views in total on pixiv than VicYuu, and gets more views in 10-30 min than VicYuu gets in 24 hours (a huge credit for that should ofc go to YoI's IP holders, as they've been trying to starve the fandom to death since 2018, basically...) It's really ironic that it's YoI fans who are so much against MAPPA making those popular shonens, bc so many Jp VicYuu fujos moved to GoYuu (it's basically the same trope "the most awesome, strong and cool man in the world the seme" x "fujoshi avatar the main character in the center of the universe the uke") - one of the reasons, why Jp fans don't attack MAPPA - they very much enjoy those shonens. (Another is that they can read and it's very easy to check who owns the IP.)
To sum up, as always, it's very unfair for YoI fans to call Otsuka CEO the greedy homophobic liar, while absolutely refusing to see the bigger picture.]
