Hi, I am going to York, Glendon campus, next year for fall 2021 and was wondering which residence is better recommended between Hilliard and Wood?
Hello Anon,
I’ll post this for input from other students.

I did bad on my midterm worth 20% nd i got 42 did i fail will i be able to makeup for it in my upcoming assignments
Yes 42% is a fail. You can still make up for that by aiming for a higher grade in the remaining components of the course.
You can use a grade calculator to figure out what grade you need to get to the final mark you want. This is the one I use now: https://thegradecalculator.com

I already took a 6 credit humanities general education course and was wondering is it possible to take two 6 SOSC general education courses instead of one 9 credit course to fulfill the requirement. I've already contacted an academic advisor regarding this but they haven't replied yet so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and could advise. Thank you!
Yes you could do that too, but if you already took 6 credits in HUMA why do you need 12 credits in SOSC? Normally, you need 9 credits in HUMA or SOSC.

is this blog still active
Sadly, it wasn’t for a few months because I’m the last one standing behind this blog, and I got busy with my own life in grad school. I hope to bring on more current York students so I can retire from this blog as well.
I will be more active on here during the winter term.

The york site crashed as I was in the middle of writing a test, I emailed my prof to let him know what was happening, but what can I do if I am unable to complete my test?
Informing your prof is all you can do unfortunately. The site crashing is out of your hands, it’s likely that York’s server wasn’t prepared for so many students logging in and using online services at the same time is my guess.

If I take year round courses, does that mean my courses are online for the whole academic year?
Yes. Unless things change for the winter term, but that still remains to be seen. No one knows what will happen in 2021 and it’s too soon to tell.

Is York going to strike in 2021?
Lol, wish I could tell you, but even if CUPE 3903 did go on strike it may not affect students like it did in the past as courses will be online. Unless the profs go on strike, then yes that would be a problem.
They have started bargaining their contracts, so we’ll see what happens.
I’ve experienced two strikes at York during two different degrees. I would not be surprised if there is a strike.

I just want to say thank you for all your help and guidance. I've been visiting this site from time to time since 2017, getting information and knowing more of YorkU. Although I'm graduating this June, I'm happy that you guys are still active and helping students, especially astray first years (like I was three years ago). Despite of the situation we're in right now, I wish you all the best to your team.
You’re most welcome anon, this was very refreshing to read. ☺️ Congrats on making it to the finish line! We’re happy we were able to help you.

Hi, Summer school begins today and I registered for a course that has still not been posted on Moodle. Is this Normal or should I email the department?
Normally, I would say to wait, since it can take some time for courses to be put on Moodle. Since everything has been moved to remote delivery, however, I would suggest contacting the department to let them know. I would imagine that there have been some delays in getting everything rolled out, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

When should I find out if I'm graduating?
Hi there.
Assuming you have applied to graduate in June 2020, the second degree audit is conducted after your final grades are in. Degree conferral for those who would be convocating in June should be noted by the end of May.
