Good timezone everyone :D I am Sora (she/her)- one of the new mod additions to the (nsfw)GhiraLink Week moderation team. //You can find me on AO3 (rahchan), tumblr (rahchan-writes-again) or on discord Sora#5056// As I am based in CET I am the one who is awake, while the others sleep *hehe*

If you have any questions regarding the NSFW stuff - you are at the right address - it's my main focus - but of course you can ask any other question too.

My main languages are english and german, so come forward in any of these questions :D Fun facts some of you do not know yet - I am writing fanfiction since 2004ish with a decade of a break but I am back in the game and love to read and write fanfiction.

I am looking forward to the GhiraLink Week 2023 and am hyped for what will going to happen and I am hyped to look at all the contributions.

Recap #2: Two months in fandom feels like forever?!

Ao3/Fanfiction So I finally tagged my fics properly... After reading this educational post here. I understand why tags are important and honestly I was just too embarrassed in the beginning but I overcame it.

I got my first gift, squeals, read more about that under Umino hours discord server~

I’ve posted only a few drabbles (which are not limited to 100 words in my world but maybe less than 500 words? dunno). Unfortunately, I’m currently in a writer’s block deluxe so I have taken my refuge in drawing instead, hoping that one day the block will have dissolved on its own and I can get back to writing too. Also I am starting to come to terms with that long fic is probably not my thing, regardless of how much I want to, and I should stick to oneshots... *sobs*

Tumblr/Fanart This month I have been more active on Tumblr, figuring out n00b stuff such as Asks - I got my first and second ask too! Thank you ~~~ @hades-bitch and @kaoruhana08

I even tried my hand at adding and formatting my pages with some basic html (I would love to be able to create my own theme some day). As you can see I love lists. Almost all the pages I’ve added are lists. 

The discovery of this month has been @ao3commentoftheday I am in love.  It is a gold mine and it has already transformed the way I think and interact with fanworks, my own and other’s. I cannot recommend this blog enough. Also it has this fun event-ish thing for weekdays that I followed for a week and will continue to do sporadically: Motivaiton Monday, Trivia Thursday, Work in Progress Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, Fic Back Friday, Spotlight Saturday and Six Sentence Sunday. 

I also started drawing chibis. I even made 27 (!?!?!?) emojis/sticker, mainly Iruka sensei but some Kakashi in there too of course. I really really really want to draw like I write, meaning SMUTTY, so I have started to try at least. 

I am adopting my motto from @sweetysamaa which is when something seems like it is impossible to draw, that’s what I should draw! and also this ao3 post here on treating yourself as well as one about allowing yourself to take joy in creating and not be hung up on quality but I can’t find it...

I am also baffled by all the new followers, THANK YOU 🧡

Events

I finally got to working on my Kakashi Summer Bingo board and managed to finish one line before the deadline~~~ I am also working on my KakaIru Maze Challenge, but my writer’s block is affecting that one negatively. I am loving the theme and my prompts, I just have to get over this darn blockage!

Umino hours discord server So, around Tumblr and on KakaIru.rocks I saw references to the Umino Hours not understanding what it was until I came across one of the invite posts. Of course it had already expired even though I saw it in real time... But then I saw that they would let new members in at a certain time. I marked my calendar and got up at 5:45 in the morning, glued to Tumblr, refreshing now and then - ready to click when the post came up. I felt like I was cueing for concert tickets!

Now a month later, I am in awe, the people who run it, the people who take part in it - it is truly amazing. I had a bit of a hard time getting used to the format (new to discord) and some days my brain can’t handle the multiple threads and referencing - but most days it can (Also I found that discord has a lot of settings you can make to have it work better with your brain!!!!! Love accessibility). 

I took part in my first server event Umino Hours Discord Server 90 Minutes To Gift Exchange you can find all the awesome fics here~ I received this wonderful gift from couturecosplay. I’ll be posting the art I did for it and also any other fanart (that isn’t a WIP) I have posted in the server after this I think.

My closing note will probably sound really sappy but I feel like the people in the fandom have filled a hole in my heart I didn’t realize I had, how very Naruto-esque. I didn’t understand how lonely I was until I was welcomed into it. Not only has Covid been a contributing factor but I also moved between countries a year before Covid hit. I have been apart from family and friends and not really ben able to form new friendships. It hit double hard in a way. But, I have my online found family now~~~ Lots of love to you all!!

Shall We Read: What Is It?

Shall We Read is a recurring online literary magazine. Within each issue we aim to showcase the works of eighteen talented writers and eight brilliant artists within the YoI fandom! Following the Pilot, the issues released in 2018 will have a combined total of 54 writer and 24 artist slots available for content creators to fill. The Pilot

On February 18, we released our first issue “Beginnings”! The image above showcases just a few of the things you will find. The Pilot is made up of two portions: SFW and NSFW. For more details, please see our product description at our itch.io store.

Embedded bookmarks. As you can see in the graphic, you can use the bookmarks feature in your PDF reader programme to jump to the content you wish to see.

Clickable Table of Contents. Don’t have a programme with a bookmarks feature? The Pilot has a Table of Contents that serves the same purpose. Simply click on fic titles or artists’ names to jump to specific content.

Interactive links. Did you like a particular piece? Consider leaving a message on the creator’s social media ♡ They’re dying to know what you think! To make things easier for you, the social media links in the credits section take you directly to their accounts.

Spread or single-page view. Do you want to view the Pilot in all its splendour? The spread / two-page view allows you to do just that. If you prefer viewing the issue on a mobile device, the Pilot’s single-page version is most likely a better fit for you (until we get scalable text through an EPUB version, we recommend viewing even the single-page version through your mobile’s horizontal orientation)*

Applications Are Open!

Interested in contributing to future issues of the litmag, whether as an artist or writer? Applications for Issues 1-3 are open until March 10, 2018 at 11:59 PM PST (UTC -8)! To learn more, click here.

Application status emails will be sent on March 25, and an official announcement of Issue 1′s contributors will be posted between March 28 - April 1.

Discord Access

For those who have purchased the Pilot for $5 or more, you will receive an invitation on March 26 through the email you used to purchase the issue. You will be able to leave SFW prompts for contributors to potentially use (NSFW prompts will not be available until after Issue 1), interact with us more personally, and even simply discuss with other supporters of the litmag!

Priest Fest 2020 FAQ

Does one of my duo have to be a priest? We only require religious (or sacrilegious) themes. One of them could be a priest, minister, religious figure, even the Antichrist, but it is not necessary. They can be ordinary people, with or without their superhero powers, as long as religious themes are somehow incorporated.

How soon can I start my fic/art piece for Priest Fest? Feel free to start as soon as possible. As long as you meet the required deadlines, we don’t mind an early start.

Can I submit content other than fic/art for the event? Yes. However, it is intended to promote original content. Ask a mod about what specific content you want to provide to be cleared. We accept comics, fan videos, etc, but if your content type is not listed, let us know.

Why is it a posting period and not a posting day? How does the posting period work? You can post anytime during these three days! The posting period gives you more time to post since it is the Holidays. If you got busy Christmas plans, you can post on the 24th instead of the 25th, or just wait until the 26th. No need to miss a deadline all because of family meals, travel, and the likes. Writers: Post at least the first chapter of your fic on AO3 and submit it to the Spideypool Priest Fest 2020 Collection. Artists: Submit your art piece to the Spideypool Priest Fest tumblr page. Other content creators: Specific instructions will be give to you based on type of content.

Why are there two deadlines for fic writers? The first deadline (June 20, 2021) is only for those wishing to participate in Priestmas in July 2021. You may not participate in that mini-event if you have not completed the previous event. The second deadline (September 30, 2021) is the hard-set and final deadline for the event overall.

What if I do not finish my Priest Fest fanfic by the deadline (September 30, 2021)? There are two repercussions to this. (1) You will not be able to participate in the following year’s Priest Fest event. (2) Aside from the Christmas Day posting to announce the start of the new tithes of priestly spideypool content, we will not be promoting works (fanfic, fanart, podfics, etc.) unless they are completed. So, if you want your work to be included in the tags page and posted on the Spideypool Priest Fest account, you will need to have it completed.

What is required by the first check-in? You just need to let us know your idea for Priest Fest 2020, just enough to ensure that you are at least thinking about the event and what you would like to do.

What is required by the second check-in? Writers: If you’re writing a one-chapter fic, you will need 50% of it done with an outline for the rest. If you’re writing a multi-chapter fic, you will need 75% of the first chapter done, with an outline of the rest. Artists: You will need half the sketch of your art piece. Other content creators: Please contact mods during sign-ups so check-in requirements can be made for the type of content you wish to create.

I want to write a fic but don’t have an AO3 account. Can I still participate? All fics must be posted under the AO3 collection. If you do not have an AO3 account as of yet, please go request an account as soon as possible, since it can take up to several days for you to receive an invitation.

I am an artist and don’t have a Tumblr account. May I still participate? We will be posting all art posts on the Tumblr account. The submission page allows you to either log into via tumblr account or just submit your name and email address, therefore, no account is necessary.

Can I make NSFW content? Yes, BUT! if you are a writer, you must properly rate your work. If you are an artist, you must host your art on an external site, and submit a SFW teaser to the art piece through tumblr submission page. Be sure to include a link to the full NSFW in the caption.

Am I allowed to work with a partner for any of the events? Yes. So long as you give credit where credit is due. If you wrote something together, you will both be listed on the fic post as authors. If you created an art piece together, both of you will be listed as the artist. If you paired with an artist/writer, you have to credit them in your post. And don’t forget to tip your bartender, I mean, credit your beta.

Can I create more than one form/piece of content for the event? Absolutely. If you have the time for more than one art piece/fic/content for the event, feel free to submit them all. Just be sure you’re not overworking yourself or missing any of the deadlines. (This means if you’re writing two fics and you don’t complete one by the final deadline, you’ll be disqualified from Priest Fest 2021.)

Do I need a Beta for my fic? You are not required to get a beta to look over your fic, but we would strongly encourage you to find a beta since betas will help take your fic and polish it into a beautiful gem. Please use a beta you are comfortable/familiar with or if you need to find a new beta, you can join the Priest Fest discord server to contact one of our Rosary Betas.
