“Alright fine, the place is big enough for us to never crosspath, I'll see you inside”, Minju and Yuri's mood is ruined, this was supposed to be a relaxing time for the three of you. “Girls, you hear what he said, we can just ignore them and have our own fun right?” Although it's true, the girls had some other type of fun in mind. Which is ruled out due to Minho and his girlfriend's presence. “Uggghhhhh, come on”

Although he said you won't crosspath you still find Minho in the male changing room. “What's up playboy? It's not like you ignore it, you still shower a lot and use deodorant, but you've never really gone an extra mile to take care of it. After getting your whole body cleansed, the three of you had some snacks while chilling on the balcony.

“I feel like I just shed my skin”, You're practically glowing right now. “Hahahaha, ahhhhh it's been fun, it's a sauna after this and then we take a shower before we can chill in the jacuzzi together”, That does sound fun. “I would've asked about having sex in the jacuzzi but I might just fall asleep after”, All three of you are pretty beat. “Alright, sauna time, let's go”

You scan the room, trying to find Minju, to find that she was talking to someone, her back facing you. “Is that Minju?” Minho and his girlfriend laugh hearing you ask. “You can't tell your own girlfriend from behind?” Seolhyun teased you. “I'm not wearing my glasses”, Sometimes, it's best to lie.

Seolhyun opened her small purse and pulled out her glasses. “Go ahead, you'll look good with it”, Fuck, you opened it and put it on, to find, it's just an accessory glasses. “There? You can see better now?” Their mocking tone tells you that your lie was a failure. “I fucking hate you two”, The two laugh before walking away. You turned to Minju, took a deep breath before walking towards her. “I'm really sorry, but I'm very busy right now, I really appreciate the invitation-”, Minju felt a tap on her shoulder distracting her from her refusal.

Turning around, she felt her heart stop for a moment. You were no better, the two of you just stared at each other, smitten by the others' looks. “What are you doing here?” She smiled before hugging you, “Well, surprise, you said you wished I could go with you. So I think why not”, You wrapped your arm around her. In an instant, all her worry and discomfort were washed away. Fuck her parents, she wants your lips right now.

For you, it felt a little awkward, such a public display of affection never sits tight with you. However you can feel her nervousness being washed away so you comply. “Feeling better?” Minju pulled away from the kiss with a blinding smile while looking at you. “Never better, you look great babe, where did you get the outfits?” Her hand trailed your arms and chest while her eyes are bathing on the pleasant sight you're giving off. “Well, Minho was actually trying to see if I was fit to come to the party today back in the spa. Since I passed his test, he got me a suit”, Talking about the test, you realised you still have a task to do here. “Excuse me? Minju-ah?” And maybe, you can finish it right now.

Sorry, what were you saying again?” Minju genuinely forgot about what she was talking about, for the guy this felt like a provocation that angered him. “I was just saying that we should try Chef Gowon’s new three michelin restaurant while we're in town”, Right, a typical date proposal, Minju turned to you. “Right, babe we should try out this new restaurant, the owner is the same one that we went to on our first date”, Minju might complicate things. You want him to get angry at you, not her, nobody would do anything towards the hostess’s daughter. “Ahhhh, you want to relive our first date again do you?” She blushes before pinching your cheek, “Pervert”, Alright, you got aggro.

“Oh right, sorry sunbaenim, but I am not interested”, Minju turned to the guy again before she smiled at you. “I see”, Such an embarrassing refusal definitely will send him over the edge. “Fuck, I really need to go to the bathroom babe, wait here okay?” Minju is reluctant to leave you here. Befriend her since the first day”, Time to lie.

“Oh is that so? Must be nice to find some rich secluded girl falling into your lap”, Now come on, at least make it a challenge. “Ahhhh, sometimes, God is good. Now I don't even need to care about money problems, all got taken care of with a little charm”, Go on, cause a scene. “You're bold, you know that? He used his other hands trying to punch you only to be caught by one of the bodyguards. “What's going on here?” The two of you turned to see the Minju giving off an almost visible freezing aura. “Minju-ah, this guy was-”, Minju raised her hand to shut him up and walk to you. “Are you okay?” The cold tone she has was dropped leaving nothing but concern. “Except for the shoulder day we did earlier? I'm fine?” You move around your shoulder. “Minju-ah, he's using you”, You just remembered that you didn't even know his name. Minju turned to him with a bone chilling gaze, she walked towards him and took the handkerchief on his chest pocket before turning to you. “Your glasses are all dirty now”, She took it off and wiped your face before cleaning the glasses. “Oh, that's Seolhyun-noona’s glasses, she said it'll do fine with my suit’, She frowned and cleaned it before putting it on your pocket, clearly telling you to not use it anymore.

She handed the handkerchief to one of the bodyguards who took it and stuffed it into the stalker's pocket. “Take him away”, He tried to say something but he got a punch to his neck making him have hard time breathing while being dragged away. “Why would you cause trouble here babe, I don't want you to get another wound in your pretty face”, Her fingers touch the bruise on your cheek making you wince a little. “Sorry babe, I have to pay for the suit and shoes”, Minju followed your eyes and turned to Minho and Seolhyun who raised their glass of champagne towards you. “You don't need to do that, I can pay for this”, You smiled and brushed her hair, “You know I can do that”, She pouted before hugging you again. “Ahem”, You hear someone clearing their throat to get your attention. Turning to the source, you two find an elder couple, which you instantly recognised as, Minju’s parents. “Sweetie, I believe you haven't introduce us yet”, Nervousness well up on Minju's heart, she held your hand tightly before letting go of the hug. “Mom, dad, this is my boyfriend, babe this is my parents”, Clearly not wanting to entertain them more she tried to pull you away. “Now, now, don't her hurried sweetheart, let's have a little chat”

Your feet start to tap nervously as the four of you find a secluded seat away from the party. Glancing around, you can see Minho and his girlfriend are talking to a girl before waving at me. “So, let me get this straight, you two met on the first day of school, and have been going out ever since?” You nodded, Minju held your thighs stopping it from doing some tap dancing.

“And what have you been doing since you two started dating?” Well, you just smiled nervously, “Minju?” Her father turned to her. “We just had a few dates, and hung out a lot after school”, He closed his eyes before letting out a long sigh. “You lose your virginity to someone you met less than a month ago?” You smiled nervously, “Answer kiddo, did you two do it?” Her mom turned to you. “Yeah, well……. technically we only knew each other for a week before that” The two parents turn to you with some suffocating glare.

“What happened?” How do you describe the sex you had without making them pissed off. “Mom, we were just caught up in the moment, and I brought him back to my house and we just….. you know the rest”, Minju thankfully covered for you. “Right, let's talk about the elephant in the room, why are you ridden with scars?” Her father looks at you with inspecting eyes. “Well, Minju had a lot of people going after her at school. Some of them aren't pleased with the fact that I'm dating her. So, they start causing trouble and I get beat up”, You're in conflict on whether or not you should tell them about Yuri.

“So you get into a fight for her?” You wouldn't necessarily call it a fight. “Yes dad, and it was very heroic and touching”, Minju said angrily. “Sweetie, is this why you call up my assistant to-”, Minju suddenly stood up and dragged him out, leaving you with her mom. The thing about her mom is, she has perfected the cold and suffocating gaze that Minju had sometimes. “What do you want?”

I don't want to lose a friend, but I also know Minju is not ready to deal with Yuri, because she felt threatened. I know Minju will come around eventually, but I'm scared that by the time she does that, I already lost Yuri”, Very nice, one thing you didn't know about Minju's mom is that Minju inherited her love for reading from her. Turning to Minju you saw her looking at both of you with a clear hint of annoyance. You bow and excuse yourself before walking to her. The moment she saw you stand up she immediately ran to you. “How did things go babe?” You smiled and caressed her head, “Everything is fine, you know a quiet place around here?” Hurriedly, she grabbed your hand and ran away from the auditorium to a quite large bathroom.

Found this in my drafts and realised I never posted this. This ended up Aurora centric, but Sunshine is there in the background. 300+ words of Cumulus being done with the shenanigans and confronting Aurora about it.

Cumulus and Cirrus thought they knew how to welcome a new ghoulette and teach her the ins and outs of living topside. They had done it before with Sunshine, and it should not be a problem.

The chaos and mischief that swept through the unhallow halls of the Abbey is unmatched in the annals of history. Cirrus actually checked the books after Sister Imperator preached vengeance during mass against whoever had snuck red socks into the laundry and colored several formerly-white coifs and wimples pink.

The air ghoulettes know they have to put Sunshine and Aurora in their place before Sister Imperator gets her claws in them.

The mood in the kitchen becomes gloomy and tense, Aurora's tail and ears drooping in shame as she realises the possible consequencesof her actions.

Cumulus breaks the tension by flicking her wrist and sending soap suds flying in the air and hitting Aurora's cheek.

Aurora looks at her, surprised at first, but then the mischievous light is lit in her eye, and she sends a spray of water back at Cumulus.

Making stock today! And I am currently crying laughing at the size difference between my hot plate and my 20 QT stock pot. The giant pot is necessary to make anything in bulk instead of the old system I did with multiple smaller pots that took much much longer, but it certainly looks pretty silly!

Luckily stock doesn't take much effort and I can just leave it simmering in the background while I get other work done today. (And wait for my lunch in the tiny pot next to it to be done.)

Stocks are one of the simplest items you can make at home-- the main cost is time to wait for it to cook and cool. Stocks and broths are very similar, but the main difference between them is whether or not they're seasoned, with primary "seasoning" being salt. Once you add salt, you've got a broth on your hands.

But stock? Baby, that's free food. Save any bones, shells, or other scraps from meats, or various peels, ends, and bits from vegetables, and soon enough you'll have a pile of odds and ends that you can turn into gallons of free flavor booster. If you've got rinds from hard cheeses like parmesan, you can even throw those in (though personally I save them for pan sauces)!

I learned how to fabricate meat years ago, and it's been one of the most useful skills I've gotten when it comes to helping me save money at the grocery store. I can buy a whole chicken for the price of a couple pounds of plain boneless/skinless breast, and get not just more variety of cuts out of it, but bones, fat, and skin that can be used for other goodies. But even if you're just buying a precooked rotisserie chicken for $6 at Walmart, saving the bones can get you a lot of extra value.

A basic stock is just bones (and/or vegetable scraps) and water, brough to a boil and then down to a simmer for a couple hours. It requires very little effort, and honestly, my main concern when making broth these days is having enough freezer space and containers to 1) cool it effectively and safely and 2) store it effectively and safely. Last time I made stock I was a fool and overfilled some of my jars, leading to broken glass and lost broth in the freezer. :( So that's something to be careful with!

Vegetable stocks are even easier! Because I'm typically only cooking for one person and don't produce a lot of scraps at once, I keep a bag in my freezer with the ends of carrots, squash, herb stems, onion tops, pieces of past-use peppers, edamame shells, woody asparagus stems, and so on. When I need more stock, all I have to do is put those scraps in a pot, cover them with water, and boil em for a bit to get all that good flavor out! The soaked vegetable scraps can even be incorporated into compost for extra value!

Please keep in mind that safely cooling stocks is a whole other equation. Typically you don't want to put boiling hot broth directly into the freezer. The rapid temperature changes can break storage containers, but more importantly you'll also just effectively bring the entire freezer into the Temperature Danger Zone (41-135F) because your standard home freezer is not equipped to cool hot liquid efficiently enough to keep it out of that range. This can put the entire contents of the freezer at risk for spoilage. Typically I allow my stock to cool for about an hour at room temperature, strain off solids, and then make a homemade "cooling paddle" out of plastic containers filled with frozen water (if I think ahead) or ice, which I then submerge in the cooling pot. No glass, just plastic containers or plastic sealable bags. That will cool it without diluting the stock and will keep it in safe handling conditions!

All these questions I’ve never thought about before! If Harvey and Mike were both women, huh? Well, taking for granted that the show would be helmed by people with much better sensitivity to gender dynamics and character development, and like, actual feminism and all that (e.g., strong female characters not being reduced to “domineering girlfriend” once they’re paired off with some guy)…

I have to believe Harvey’s character would start the show as a stereotypical woman making it in a man’s world. With Jessica as the managing partner and Harvey’s character as essentially her number two, the firm culture would probably be a little different if for no other reason than that they would have some kind of reputation in the legal community that required them to be twice as tough as any male-dominated firm (i.e., basically all of the other firms). Actually, if I recall correctly, most if not all of the other departments at PH were headed by men, so maybe it’s just the corporate division that has such a reputation; maybe that’s why they’re the most prominent in the firm, because they have the most to prove. Well, but that’s just background information, never mind.

So the interview. Mike’s character crashes the Chilton and spills pot all across the floor, and Harvey’s character…is vastly amused, I suspect, but why does she hire her? Boredom seems like kind of a silly reason, and while I think Harvey in canon hired Mike mainly to fuck with the status quo (and because Mike reminded him of himself, it’s all a rich tapestry), a female Harvey character probably wouldn’t have such a luxury. Maybe it would be more obvious from an early point that Harvey’s character felt some sort of protectiveness toward Mike’s; it might be interesting if, over the course of the series, we got some actual answers as to why Harvey’s character made the decision to hire her in the first place as opposed to the massive amount of guesswork we all do with canon.

With that opening number out of the way, how would their relationship develop differently? I should actually hope that it wouldn’t vary too much; I like the dynamic of Harvey being arrogant and secretive and Mike teaching him to be, you know, human. With both of them as women, I’m sure there would be some element of “you can be a powerful badass and still a beautiful lady” because, well, television, but if they could lean more toward the “powerful badass” half of that equation, that would be most excellent. Fundamentally I think the characters would have more permission, as it were, to form close personal relationships with one another; whereas Mike and Harvey in canon were portrayed as “buddies” for awhile there (or at least I think that’s what the writers were going for, the poor guys), two female characters forming an intimate relationship that’s not overtly sexual or romantic is far less taboo. And then, you know, they can progress from there; the combination of the superior/subordinate romance (very complicated) and the “she’s somehow become my best friend and also my confidant and also my mentor/protégé but I also want her to be something else” (very traditional) angles could certainly be played out in a lot of interesting ways. (A lot of really terrible ways, too, but I’m giving these fictional showrunners the benefit of the doubt.)

As before, when I discussed just one of them being made female, I think Donna and Rachel would have much bigger and more interesting roles in the show. The romantic tension between Donna and Harvey’s character would be eliminated and while I could see Rachel and Mike’s character trying to hook up (assuming the network would accept a pitch that included two non-heterosexual pairings, the very idea), I could also see that not happening, or at least not lasting once it becomes obvious that Mike’s character is interested in Harvey’s. I’d really like to see them as good friends, I think there’s a lot more mileage to be gotten out of that than Mike and Rachel’s relationship in canon. And this all opens the door quite wide for Donna to end up with Louis, which would also be a great avenue for his character to be developed a little more consistently. (Or a lot more consistently, just as you please.)

Overall I think it would afford more opportunity to include an actual emotional arc to the show rather than shoehorning in a bunch of obvious romantic sub-plots and the occasional parental death scene. And you know what I would love to see, on a purely self-serving level, is an episode with some asshole lawyer from some other firm, or like a judge or something, being a misogynistic shit to Mike’s character—you know, “You should smile more,” “Women should wear skirts in court,” that kind of fuckery—and then have her absolutely demolish him at trial or get him kicked off the bench. I would enjoy that very much. I mean it would have to be a difficult fight, he would be a talented lawyer and a powerful figure in his own right, but I think it could be a really neat “growth” episode for Mike’s character, and a good opportunity to demonstrate that she’s more than just a walking legal dictionary that would also fit neatly into the whole “badass woman” narrative the network would surely push every now and again.
