My dad is such a piece of work lmfao i dont care that you have to deal with racism at work when you listen to your blasted right wing talkshows and romp around with your ethnonationalist bullshit. Dont come running to your daughter when the leopards eat your face 😂. Sorry you had such a difficult childhood but i cant care to extend sympathy to you as a person when you routinely gaslight, degrade, and threaten everyone with the finances gotcha and play the victim as if you didnt explicitly forbid our mom from getting a job herself. I cant care to extend sympathy to you when you took your anger out on me all the time growing up as if i was your personal stress relief toy. I cant care to extend sympathy to you when you isolate me from my only unconditional support at school. I cant care to extend sympathy to you when all youve ever done is neglect and neglect and neglect and neglect and neglect me and somehow you still manage to feel entitled to my feelings and personage. I cant care to extend sympathy to you when ive never once felt safe expressing my true self around you for fear of getting thrown out because im a dirty little dyke. I cant care to extend my sympathy to you when the only remotely worthwhile thing youve ever done for me is instilling a mangled and worn and tenuous pride in my heritage that's only ever caused me grief and confusion and insecurity, leaving me to grapple with my cultural isolation all alone. Youve been dead to me for years. The daughter you raised in your image is long gone. And i'll kill you no matter how many times it takes. Youre not following me into my next life. Youre staying in your damn grave and im gonna make sure of that.

i know you like The Martian so i was curious if youve read Project Hail Mary yet? I finally got it this weekend and I just finished it last night and it was so so good i love it so much. The Martian is one of my favourite books and movies and now Project Hail Mary has joined the rankings and also made me immediately want to read the martian again I finished the book last night after work so my brain has just been entirely focused and consumed by it so its barely touched the apparent clusterfuck that was last nights 911 ep yet 😂

I haven’t! I actually haven’t read either of his other books. I have a friend from my bookseller days who still works in that scenario (albeit in a different state now at a different bookstore) and although we don’t agree about all things in books, the things we do agree on are things we both feel strongly about and she warned me off them a while back.

But! Maybe I’ll give it another shot! Thank you for the recommendation!

I’ve been hooked on the rook and rose series by MA Carrick lately (the audiobook for book two just dropped today thank god) and having a blast with that instead of sci-fi, but I will keep project Hail Mary in my sites
