The curse of being Japanese-American with yokai companions is that everybody, including yourself, has divided, strong opinions on tea.

Regular debates that I've overheard include:

The validity of bubble tea

Is a matcha latte categorically matcha

Do types of teapots affect flavor/strength?

Appropriate times for tea, what kind for what time of day, etc.

Are the British correct for having a designated afternoon tea hour during the day?

What foods are and are not acceptable to eat with tea (wagashi, youkan, modern or western foods)

Should there be tea with western-style meals?

Is soda/juice/etc. appropriate for dinner meals, are there exceptions to that rule

Is tea served during or after a meal?

I can honestly say that I never anticipated this to be a thing that would happen
